Review Normablue Cafe - Lower Hutt

A place I have visited for over 10 years. The food and service has always been consistently great. Lots of local regulars here. Reasonably priced. Easy access and free parking. Nice outdoor area and child friendly. Small and busy I always get a table. Nice Cafe environment. The food is of good quality. My Eggs bene always run. The coffee is nice too. A good place to pop into for a quick coffee. Standard fare with some nice alternative options too and a selection of cabinet food too. Would Suit small work or social meetings too as I see they reserve tables.

Very nice place and great service everyone there is so friendly and lovely . We went there by chance because our usual cafe was closed . I'm happy that I tried this place

This is the place to be when outside is a howling Southerly and you face a long walk from the train station here. A short walk from the train stations under pass walk way, this Cafe boasts warmth, great service and handmade pepper steak pies. They do a range of great food from morning to evening and always with great smiles, helpful service and comfortable surroundings. It also helps that the coffee is equisite.

Absolutely love this place. The service was amazing and the food sublime. Seems hidden away but opens out into a rrally nice outdoor dining area with sun umbrellas which was perfect in the weather we are getting now :)

Of it's type I have always found this cafe extremely good value, with friendly staff who try and go the extra mile.<br/>Like me many customers have been going there for years.<br/>The menu is simple, it is not haute cuisine nor does it aim to be so. Everyone I have taken there has without exception enjoyed themselves.

Had the misfortune of dining here the other day with a group of friends and colleagues. Was disgusted by the service one member of our group received being sworn at by the manager and unfriendly attitude. His behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional and embarrassing for all within earshot. Maybe he was having a bad day but was no excuse for the rudeness and disgusting behavior.<br/>As a group we have been dining here for years as unfortunately it is local however have found the service and food quality has gone down drastically since new owners took over although it is great some of the old staff still work there and have people skills as otherwise we would have stopped going there much sooner. <br/>On numerous occasions we have waited over 1/2 hr for food to arrive which is then flavorless and cold if your lucky enough to receive what you have ordered. There have been other times when key ingredients are no longer available e.g avocado for a BLAT or cream in the soup as they have "run out" and yet no discounts are offered. <br/>Already more than half of our group refuse to now dine here re the disgusting service and food, and instead visit other nicer places within the region and I will now be joining them.

This is the worst café I have been to. The previous owners were lovely and would go the extra mile, the couple of times I have been since it changed hands I have been majorly disappointed with not only the disgusting food they are making but also the service, out to make money and not in it for the customer service. The owner needs to watch his language around children (not everyone accepts swearing as everyday language) and he actually gives me the creeps with the way he looks at me and my friends even tho yes they are beautiful its disgusting. Will not be recommending and will be telling my friends to not visit this low grade café... hoping this place is bought by someone who cares about people.

We are a local company who have been working 24/7 to repair the damage that was caused by the Storm in Wellington June 2013.<br/>We found Norma Blue and they have been delivering coffees etc to us. They rock.

Lovely new owner! great service with a personal touch. Great coffee but the milkshakes are the best. OMG - thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Great food too. $15 for huge eggs benny - can't go wrong.

I liked this cafe.until I went there and the lady took my order and then answered her cell phone.that was bad enough but then she started to have a prolonged conversation.that was bad but then she walked away into another room with the phone.omg how rude.what about my coffee and lunch?I just can't bring myself to return.always serve the customer in front of you!what a shame.

Me and my partner have dined out so much for breakfast and everything is either over priced, half eatable or not even worth getting up for. We were recommended Normablue and OMG I loved it. The owner was so friendly and knows exactly what customers are looking for. We ordered the big blue each and we both couldn't finish our meals not because it was yuck but because we were so full. <br/><br/>I recommend this place to everyone try it once you ll keep going back. Def our local now

What a fantastic place to go to. The staff here were great. Margaret who made us our coffee was so friendly and what coffee's they are.... being MOJO was just a bonus. You can tell by the way the staff interact with their customer that this is a very friendly place...a great family atsomphere. I had the 'Big Blue' breakfast.....and struggled to eat it all. Awesome food. We have now been back 7 times....its becoming a bit of a regular for us.

Agree with all past reviews.. amazing service, so friendly &amp; welcoming.. <br/>Very nice small, cosy place.<br/>Sat outside on a fine winters' day with bubby and friend &amp; our teenagers!<br/>Returned again with hubby etc, and very, very good homemade vege soup.<br/>Staff were so attentive to us &amp; bubby.. in fact went out of their way to make sure we were all good with highchair &amp; little bit of extra soup for her!<br/>Will try to get back there for lunch meal sometime. Well done Normablue :)

People are very friendly here, and the food is very tasty and well priced, the pancakes with ice cream are especially good.

A good neighbourhood cafe with no pretensions. Food is good, staff are friendly and helpful. They are happy to prepare something off the menu if you ask. Like many regulars I have been a customer for several years<br/><br/>The corporate breakfast is a good deal and the coffees are good as well Lamb's fry for lunch is worth a look.<br/><br/>10 November 2014<br/><br/>The owners have improved the food here and coupled with the friendly staff and attitude to customers this place continues to be a good one. Now we are getting into better weather the outside area comes into it's own and adds an advantage that many competitors lack, a sunny sheltered open space.<br/><br/>Baked goods are good here. In addition I like the poached eggs on toast, well prepared and value for money. The eggs are not overdone, you get a nice mix of runny yolk and solidity, which many places with greater pretensions and reputations fail to achieve.
