Review Wah Loong Restaurant - Lower Hutt

The food is incredibly tasty. Roast pork slices and sweet and sour battered chicken entrees were excellent. Combination fried rice was huge and tasty. The orange beef and lemon chicken wereamazing. Only upset we discovered this place as we are leaving the North Island. I can not recommend this place highly enough. It is a hidden treasure you would drive past without noticing.

Value for money and delicious! Awesome Chinese food in NZ! We ordered their food for 2 nights straight! The highlight was that my wife, toddlers and I loved their steak fried rice and we chowed it down to the last grain! We ordered steak fried rice, wanton soup and pork cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables on the first night. As it was our first time ordering, I didn't realize how big the portion was until the staff handed me a box of food! We ate what we could and kept some for picnic the next day! The seasonal vegetables were cooked till tender and it was easy for my toddlers to munch! The steak fried rice was fragrant and flavourful and the steak was so tender! We ordered the steak fried rice and chicken cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables the next day. The chicken was also very tender and easy on the bite. Thanks to their food that I had fuss free meals for 2 days as my toddlers loved the food and had nothing to pick on! We'll definitely be back should we pass by Lower Hutt again!

Food portion was great. Service was ok giving there was only 2 of them. Food was tasty and quick, typical takeaway style. However, roast duck was special and the sizzling venison was really tender and tasty. Didn't get a chance to try their chef recommendation - taro duck....(forgot the name) - you have to pre-order this dish.

An absolutely brilliant chinese takeaway and dine-in restaurant. Have been going there for years. Cheap and cheerful with generous portions. There has clearly been a focus on customer experience and now the service is as excellent as the food.

The best chow suey I've had in Wellington. Also the chow mein was top notch. Beats auckland with there crispy noodle chow mein. Wellington make it properly and with love full of flavour. Best one since returning home.

Childhood Restaurant. My Mum and our Netball crew use to hangout here. Nice meals too.

This is the best Chinese take out and restaurant in the Hutt region. I've been coming here for over 30yrs and never disappointed. My favorite is the orange chicken, pan fried chicken noodle, pork or chicken fried rice, steamed dim sims.

Amazing food. Their orange steak is the closest I have come to restaurant level and their sweet and sour pork has the perfect amount of batter to sauce. I also love the fact that their takeaway dishes don't come filled half with rice and instead is either entirely the dish you ordered or has veggies with it instead. Yum, yum, yum!

Superb takeaway food, good value for money and large portions. We ordered 4 different dishes for the family and each one was outstanding. Our first choice in Avalon.

The wontons were amazing. Really delicious. Had orange beef, sweet and sour pork, steak fried rice and combination chop suey. The fried rice was a little bland but the others were nice. Huge portions.

We came here the first time with a family of 8’s. The service is amazing, the lady was very nice n helpful. The food came out very big portions, they’re all tasted yummy, no oil. This is the best Chinese restaurant i have ever tried. One minute is this is so far from my place and hard to find cuz the outside doesn’t look like a restaurant ( I’m not good in directions that the why). Rather than that, anything else are perfect.

Favourite Chinese in the Hutt by far. The won tons, sweet and sour pork, chicken and cashew nut, combo fried rice and the fish with sweet and sour sauce are our go-to’s. Never disappointed!

I have tried almost every single Chinese restaurant in Wellington and this is by far the Best Chinese at an affordable price, especially the duck with Chinese mushrooms, Highly recommended!

Wasn't as good as i thought it would be, it was quite expensive and I felt rather sickly feeling after having a plate of sweet and sour pork with no vegetables or rice with it. You had to buy the rice seperately, and they didnt give us plain fried rice like we had wanted either, they gave us combination fried rice which added quite a bit to the total cost! It was quite nice, but probably not my kind of restaurant

Since 2008, I always brought my parents to their restaurant, whenever there is a chance to do so. Its the only restaurant in Wellington that I trust of (healthy and delicious).

We got takeaway on Monday 18/01 The cashew, egg & chicken fried rice was really good. We got the garlic pork, chicken chow Mein as well, well cooked and nothing to fault. The spring rolls are lovely as are the wontons.

We have been here 3 Times in the past after being recommended by a family member. Today (sat 16 Jan) we phoned our order through and then drove down to pick it up. We had the combination fried rice and combination chow mein. It came to around $22 total. The portions are quite big, so that's all we ordered between me and my husband. And they taste delicious. So fresh and cooked to perfection.

When we arrived there were only two dining parties present including ourselves. The waiter came out promptly and showed us to our table, when he came back we asked for extra time, and he did not come out for 10 minutes. We were waiting for our food for at least an hour and in this time the staff did not check if we were OK once. When the food finally came it was passable but not great. We will not be visiting Wah Loong again, they are simply not worth the wait.

A group of us from work dine there regularly and always have the banquet. The food is superb and well priced and so much of it that we take it in turns to take the leftovers home! Would highly recommend it.

We have dined here twice, and both times had the banquet, brilliant food and brilliant service, plenty of food to go around, and a huge variety, i would most definately recommend this place, we love it!!!
