Review She Universe - Lyttelton

We had a fantastic night away. Great to see so many locals having a fun time with a Barbie and Ken themed night. The bar was busy but all the staff made us feel welcome and was very friendly and fast service. We ended the night playing pool with a few of the welcoming locals. The accommodation upstairs is basic but lovely, warm and clean. With it only 30min from town this is the perfect get away. We will be back and will encourage friends as well.

The staff are fab and provide excellent service. They helped me to negotiate the doors with my elderly father in a wheelchair and found a nice quiet spot to sit. The food took a while to come out, but they were pretty busy, and they kept humouring my Dad, so he was happy ๐Ÿ˜Š. Would love to try their accommodation and pool another time.

Loved our stay here. Penelope was so welcoming. We even got a midwinter swim in the salt pool, which was a lot of fun on a Friday night! Locals were a hoot, meeting Sir Ralph was a highlight. Room and bed very comfy. Would definitely recommend ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Wasn't expecting too much to be honest but gave the restaurant a try because it was dog friendly. Was actually really good food. Home style roast beef and very tasty seafood chowder with polenta fried calamari. Even the dog had a steak and biscuits which he thoroughly devoured. Washed down with well made cocktails with a great view of the port. Will definitely go again.

Lunched with she who must be obeyed and our granddaughter. Very pleasant view out to Lyttelton Harbour heads. Service was excellent as was the food. Plenty of beautiful outdoor spots to eat as well as in doors. Thoroughly recommend this establishment, a real jewel. This visit will not be a oncer that is for sure.

Jeremyโ€™s positive character always puts a smile on ya face. So did the flamingos in the bar patio area ๐Ÿ˜† Nice to have local seasonal 3 boys beers on tap too. More outdoor heating would be my only suggestion, love a patio beer.

A lovely find whilst out on our days drive. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Cozy indoor seating near a roaring fire but we chose the autumn sunshine and were not disappointed. The calamari was the best my husband has had in years. The polenta chips were well cooked and ideally presented but the accompanying aioli lacked taste. Made up for taste with the Irish Cider. Wonderful lunch, hope to visit again.

I have always wanted to stay here but we were always just passing through before. The owner was amazing. Their answerphone was playing up and he sent me his private phone number so that we could communicate. We weren't disappointed. The room was just lovely. Quality bedding, stunning views. Breakfast was included, which was a bonus. Yes it's old and quirky but the views are stunning and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Driving around the Port Hills looking for somewhere to eat when this beautiful, little, old hotel appeared. Fantastic atmosphere, location and friendly staff. The meal was excellent. Loved the 'Dogs Menu', so will undoubtedly be back with my furry pal for a rib-eye!

Bus load of people, many private groups and the place was buzzing - you wouldn't know all those people were there. The food was excellent, the service out of this world, happy ladies, smiling and polite. Makes your day when you have that sort of service. Food was quick and we were happy customers. Delightful outdoor setting but don't feed the birds - 1 becomes 100. Families with their dogs were also having lunch, so nice to see. Well done guys. Lovely to read about the cultural heritage of the place too, that was very interesting to read up on (googled the name Otoromiro)
