Arrived at opening time 3 pm hungry and thirsty. Welcomed with a happy hour Margarita and beer which were both super tasty. Followed by amazing dip, pulled pork tacos then shared a crunchy burrito thingy. Awesome. Happy hour 3 to 5 pm. Food fresh. Would come back if we were staying for longer.

In ancient folklore Gringa was the queen of frozen margaritas, this is not widely known. Her spirit had been reborn in this busy corner of Mangawhai heads. Careful though, if the spirit of the margarita queen is disturbed too many times she will wreak vengeance upon you (they're strong)

I don't usually give a tip however my sister and I were so impressed with the charm and service of the young lady that I couldn't leave without tipping her. What a delight with her top notch service. . We loved the food and the drinks. Good size serves too. The dessert was delicious too. Thank you so much. It was packed too so obviously a hit with locals and visitors. I will definitely visit again.

Great place with great prices! Plenty of outdoor seating or indoor! Really great drinks, we had the frozen cocktails. Great tasting and decent portion sizes. Should definately look to book if coming in on a busy night (we went on a Saturday and it was quite full!) Only let down was one waitress we had who had no idea in terms of what she was serving and guessed what each plate was which was quite unprofessional and I have never seen before. Either than that it was great!

Gringas - Great family and friends eatery in Mangawhai. Mexican themed menu and drinks. Inside and covered outdoor dining. Parking all around ( can be tricky in busy times). Bookings advised in peak periods. Well presented food, generous portions. Good ambience. Fair pricing. Pleasant, attentive team. A worthwhile destination in popular Mangawhai central.

I went here two years ago when it was a food truck and loved it! We were in Mangawhai this weekend and couldn’t not go. So cool to see there is now a restaurant! It was bustling’! Margs were DELISH!!! And tacos phenomenal! I wanted to get some takeaway for my drive home but they are closed Mondays. Definately be back!

Best Mexican food I have ever had, never been to Mexico tho but my partner and I are huge fan of tacos and burritos and we have tried basiclly every Mexican restaurant in Auckland and none of them are better than this place. Food flavor is amazing, portion is very decent and the warm and friendly service from their staff just made everything even better. Loved the churro espresso martini and toasted coconut magarita 🍹 We are planning to visit mangawhai for a week and thank you Gringas we really had a good start of our holiday!

It was my first time in Mangawhai, hence my first time to eat here at Gringas. This was highly recommended by a local and was super glad we tried ‘em out. This is the best Mexican place I’ve eaten at in NZ, I daresay. We ordered the Quesadilla, TacoTaco + Pork tacos and they were all really good 🤩 Loved that you basically have everything you need on the table — utensils, tissue, tomatillo sauce, hot sauce, water… Service was also quick and friendly, staff was super welcoming, asking how we liked the food of if we needed anything else etc 💕 Because of the amazing experience, I wanted to eat here again the following day but unfortunately we were headed back to Auckland before their opening hours 😢 Highly recommended and will surely be back in case we find ourselves in Mangawhai again 👍😊

Amazing food and clean modern restaurant. Attentive staff. Really impressed. We had the fish tacos, Mexican burrito, coconut margarita and frozen strawberry guava margarita. Seriously delish!

Food is great and the girls running the truck were super nice. Unique burritos as they include fries inside some of them. Not an authentic mexican taste, but delicious nonetheless, especially considering how difficult it is to find good mexican cuisine in New Zealand. The steak burrito was better than the pork, as the pork was just a tad too dry. The pricing is on the higher end, but you gotta have a nice treat every now and then. One burrito ($17) is enough to fill you up as well. Great food truck atmosphere with music. Overall, a wonderful food experience.
