Review Phnom Pen Restaurant And Cafe - Mangere

CF Sutrisno
My family members who were visiting me loved the food. They were presently surprised they could eat such authentic Asian food in Auckland. The portions were huge. I recommend Tamarind Duck, Kumara Fries, Fish and Chips, Stir-fried prawns with vegetables. We also had a set of waffles for takeaway.

We go here all the time! Love the salmon Benedict and the waffles. Coffees always taste great. The prices are above average but most places are putting there prices up. I don’t buy the smoothies anymore because of how much the price went up, I just make them at home now. Their chips and aioli are perfection! I always ask for extra aioli.

Phnom Penh saved mothers day! We rocked up here because this is our favourite spot at the bridge & were stoked to find there were spare tables to accommodate us. The food was fresh & tasty as always & there were alot of staff on duty as well. Meals came from the kitchen quickly, staff were super efficient & we all left very happy. Was our mums first time visiting & she really enjoyed the food too so we'll bring her back again sometime. Got some cheesecake for dessert too! So yum! Thanks for having us! 🥰

Love this place..such nice helpful friendly service..wide menu...and no matter what time of day/night you go they always yummy selection of desserts/sweets as 99 percent are made on premises. The place is very clean with either large or small tables. The larger tables have floor to ceiling windows to view outside plus their are tables on pavement for sunny days. We enjoyed squid spring rolls fish n chips cheesecake and chocolate coconut rough slice....plus coffees for $60...a good price for two oldies.

Soooooo good! The girl taking our order was so patient and so sweet, the restaurant was clean and the tables were frequently wiped down, they served every customer with a smile and said thank you as we left and immediately took our plates and wiped our table as soon as we left. Definitely would recommend.

Looks average from outside, however I was warmly greeted and seated quickly. They do both their local cuisines as well as more European stoked food such as steak. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. Tried the steamed fish and it was tasty and full of vegetables. Pricing is good and well worth a stop by.

Service with a smile..as I entered the cafe ..they have seating out doors and a lot of seating indoors. 🚻♿ toilets available and also wheelchair accessible toilet I ordered the muesli freshfruit and yoghurt Delicious for breakfast 😋 Reasonably priced Also friend ordered mince on toast Smoothies are delicious

The place is from Cambodia. Located in Mangere convinence. Parking great . Price a bit high but still lots of customers. Taste good too. Will be back

Never been before, first time here and their service was great, the food was cooked to perfection. I ordered the sirloin steak with creamy mushroom. I didn't expect it to be that big, most places you pay so much money for such little food, but this place is really good. 😊 Waiters were kind and respectful.

Parking is a bit of a hassle in the main street which is normal. More so on a Sat morning! Food is good, service and staff are great. Pricing is reasonable. Mangere Bridge isnt cheap in general by any means. Lots of variety on the menu here. There was a random pigeon looking for a free brekky, so as I do, I took a vid and pic :)

We always come to this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great service and atmosphere. 👏

Best Red Duck Curry!! 😍😍😍 Full of flavour and veges and duck!! And a good size for the price. Highly Recommend. And great service/Staff

Love my local eatery, they make the best coffee's and Hot chocolate. Food is generous portion and well priced. Come her often for 2yrs now, can get crowed at times but staff are nice and prompt. Please is usually clean, try the tiramisu slice with whip cream. Its not the average 5 star elegance ambiance, its more like a cafe/takeaway place. Its very local...don't need to dress up to eat here, its a comfort place...

Used to go here often before quarantine and loved their pad thai and their serving sizes. During Level 3, I ordered some chicken pad thai and some kumara fries as a treat and picked it up. It did not disappoint! Same quality as usual and such big servings. It's a little pricey for a student like me but it's definitely worth the quality AND quantity.

Came here for lunch, they were quick with our order lovely customer service and the food was so good will definitely be back for more.

I come here often for tasty quick good value food. I don’t come here for the ambience

Service was polite and friendly, the food was very fast we didn’t wait long at all, I also had the satay chicken on rice but forgot the pic, with the spring rolls and children’s chicken burger meal. All very pleasant we would return

This is my go-to place when I have my dog with me as they have outdoor seats. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. This is consistent even during busy times. There is also a variety of food available, not only Asian/Thai, they also have burgers, chips, etc.

Welcoming service on a Sunday night. Very tidy and clean. Quickly seated and menus handed out. We ordered a couple entree's & 2 x mains. Food came out in a timely manner. The chicken satay entree was nice, enjoyed the sauce and chicken was still moist. The garlic bread was ok. The salmon was cooked nicely. Vegetables tasted a bit bland & felt like the warm up ones from the supermarket which was a bit of a let down. The hollandaise sauce was ok - have had better. The ciabatta bread on the side had garlic butter spread on it. The chicken pad Thai meal was ok. It was served with a lime that was appeared the juice was already squeezed out of it. The flavours were all there. Overall a nice dinner, price was ok. Would return again in future.

Great location great service they will come and greet you once you come into the restaurant and the food is so good for the price. Good place to visit for quality food when your on a budget.

Quality food at affordable prices with friendly staff providing 10/10 service from the moment we entered.. Highly recommend their Cashew Nut Chicken and Spring rolls!

Unfortunately we were really disappointed with the food.. even the food from their cafe display was a real disappointment. Did not live up to expectations and not authentic flavors.
Liz Scott
The staff are very friendly and efficient. Their cookies and cream frappe is amazing and their coffee is always well made. We often order spring rolls, fries and garlic bread when we go.

Love the Food, friendly environment. Always a delight Food is consistently Good and staff are very accommodating to tastes and needs.A wide variety of foods with abit of something for everyone.

Got a Laksa noodle soup here. Loved the Laksa, it was tasty and flavoursome. It was quite a decent portion with lots of noodles, accompanying vegetables, toppings and plenty of soup.

The soup bad was so full of flavour it didn't seem like the powdered bases at other places I have tried. I will try other dishes on the menu next time but the Laksa was delicious and for that dish a 4/5. My rating for the restaurant itself is a 3.5/5.

I would not recommend the green curry with chicken. The chicken is very tough and the the green curry lacks that green curry flare.

The staff were friendly and service was relatively quick but the dining tables needed a good scrub rather than just a weak wipe over.

Pretty much my local place to eat.. in saying that it hasnt been the same since they first opened. My fav used to be the sirloin steak w/mushroom sauce I like my steak cooked medium-but the chef always serves it rare with its juices drowning my fries 😑 my new fav is the chicken melt..
N Simadri
Nice place and good food reasonably priced, would go again. The ambiance is over due for an upgrade, this place has so much potential, staff are friendly, food arrived on time. Tune up the interior design abit, it looks like a fish n chips shops, perhaps change the tables or table clothes and create a fine dinning experience because the food is worth it, 4 stars due to ambiance. Sorry guys...below dishes are Tamarind Fish and Chicken hot plate, came with rice.

Awesome service and the food is to die for! Great sized portions and you always leave with a full belly! Highly recommended if you’re looking for somewhere to eat!

Absolutely love this place! The staff are always friendly and greet you as soon as you walk in so you don’t have that awkward ‘wth do we do’ phase to your night. I usually order a soup and sticky rice with a variety of entrees and they never disappoint! Honestly you have to try if you’re on Dominion Rd, cheap but bloody good Thai food...what more could you ask for!? :))

Lovely food. Lovely service 😊 I would definitely come back again. Nice and quiet setting, tasty food also the staff are so very friendly 👍

Saturday 17/02 we decided to stop by this place last minute for brunch. I ordered the Clat ($13.50), kumara fries ($5.00) and an Iced mocha. Also had the laksa - loved! The brunch menu is similar to the Coronation cafe however my Clat was served with fries and a bagel. The bagel and chicken was lacking aioli/sauce and with the bacon on top it was very dry. I liked the iced mocha and really enjoyed the kumara fries - the portions were bigger here than at Coronation cafe. Family friendly with plenty of outdoor seating. Will definitely return if only to try out the waffles.

We come to this restaurant for dinner.
We order a Pah Thai ,
But, it taste too saltly and too wet.
I also order a pinaapple fried rice with beef,
Pinaapple don't have taste,
fried rice not dry .
23/11/2018 lunch
My husband order a burger,it fine.
I order a pad see ew with chicken,I think the chicken is too many.

4 rating because they could add variety to their desserts and also on two occasions forgot about one of the dishes my table ordered (table of four). By the time we received it everyone else on our table was done eating. There wasn't a lot of people there either. Other than that food is good. Also affordable prices.

Had a craving for a Pad Thai so went along to my local to try this place. I got the chicken pad thai takeaway $13.90, it was pretty good, had the usual tofu, bean sprouts, peanuts, rice noodles, lots of chicken. Wasn’t too greasy or too salty. Now I know where to go for a decent quick local pad Thai.

Went for Breakfast this morning food was nice. we went about 7.30am so it was nice and quiet. Ordered pancakes & a coffee. The coffee was really good, the pancakes were even better. Would recommend to those looking for a place to have breakfast

Have been here a few times. The breakfasts are decent prices and really good portions. Scotch steak is lovely with the device mushroom sauce. Have ordered off the menu for Cambodian food which I really enjoyed too. Staff are nice and friendly. Cakes and sweets in the cabinet are also very yummy and fresh.

Food is aiite the cafes down that stretch pretty much have the same menu, portions are reasonable in saying that i couldn't finish my 1st plate i ordered salmon breakfast poached eggs and hollandaise, salmon was cooked nicely, crispy skin, 2nd plate ordered the chicken cheese melt chicken @had a nice flavor to it the rest was dry lol also got a mango smoothy which was untouched only cause i was full from 1st plate. Nice village to eat at on a nice day cheap eats right across the street if you on the grease and oil buz.

Pretty Decent Allpress cup of coffee. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Would go as far to say that this is the best place in Mangree Bridge for a coffeee.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday night around 6pm. The restaurant was about a third full. There are further tables on the street but it was a cold & wet winter's evening...the restaurant was nice and clean but typical of most Asian restaurants lack much ambiance.

Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia but the menu includes Thai, Western & other Asian dishes with a few Cambodian dishes. I've been to Cambodia several times and was keen to try some Cambodian food. I ordered the lemongrass lamb & larb sach mon with an entree of deep fried squid. Both main dishes are served with rice.

While waiting for our meal we weren't offered any drinks. I noticed all the other diners had been given water so I asked was promptly provided it. The deep fried squid arrived but was disappointed we were only given 6 small pieces which I thought was a bit miserly for the $6.50 price. The mains arrived promptly thereafter. The salads provided with the dishes were just a variety of lettuce leaves. My fellow diner wondered whether they forgot to add dressing to it. It maybe a good idea if they offered diners some salad dressing. The larb is just like a Thai larb - I was hoping to see a Cambodian difference on the dish but no. However the dish was nice. The lamb dish lacked any lemongrass flavour. It's only now while writing this review I realised it was supposed to have lemongrass. The serving of lamb was also quite small with about half of the dish being the lettuce. Overall the meal wasn't very filling so I ordered a slice of banana cake- they have a nice cabinet with a variety of cakes.

I noticed the table next to us ordered western meals - steaks, fries etc and these servings were a good size so next time I may order something along those lines.

Parking is important to me and there is lots of that nearby.

The service is fine but as mentioned above it would have been better by offering us water from the start.

They also do takeaways which is important for me as this is a local restaurant for me.

A Friend of mine suggested this place and told me you'll have the best food here. As i am a Vegetarian i usually have few options at most of the places i visit but to my surprise they were very accomodating and offered to make all the available meals vegetarian.
Loved the Pad thai you guys made for me then and ever since i have been a regular here.

Came with 2 of my cousins and was somewhat disappointed with what I ordered. So I ordered off the menu a Portobello mushroom breakfast. As by the name I thought cool I feel like some mushrooms. It comes with toast eggs bacon and sausage and hash browns. I thought wow all this comes with a PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM BREAKFAST. Wow my breakfast comes out and the breakfast dosent look to appealing to the eye but what made it worse was the 2 tiny little portabello mushrooms I got. No flavour just placed on the plate like it shouldn't even be there lol. The staff were good but just a little underwhelmed I guess. The prices are cheap but you get what you pay for....no frills.

I had Chicken Cashew
My local "go to" meal .. it's my fave.
Picture doesn't do it any justice but it's soo good. Veges still has a bit of crisp, just the way I like it.
Sarah
Service was great food came out really quickly, the prices were affordable and the venue was nice and tidy and not too crowded.

The tropical smoothie was AMAZING had to grab one to go.

Will come again.

Breakfast was so good 👌🏼 waited quite long as they were busy but was worth the wait. 😆 I ordered the waffles with fruit. Best waffles ever !!!

I voted it with a 2 because they are nice people. But I have just had the most greasy, sweet, salty and lack of flavour red curry of my entire life... Price is not that cheap compared with any other average Thai restaurants in Auckland.

Sorry, but I think I will not come back. It looks like the fat is what all the restaurants in Coronation road, of Mangere Bridge, are based on... Almost impossible to find a near-to-healthy option there....

I love this place. It's still new compared to the other cafes in Mangere Bridge but the service is amazing. The staff are very nurturing and always checking up to see if everything's ok. I normally go to Luckys but Phnom is so much more comfortable and they come and take your order from your table instead of you going to the till to order. My fave thing to order is the mix grill and always a side of garlic bread. I will go back anytime and highly recommend Phnom to anyone.

Great place with friendly faces - a great local feel. I never eat chicken laksa - i usually go for seafood. This time was definitely worth it! A much sweeter laksa than most, it was different but a very filling and delicious meal. My partner went for the mee goreng - an unconventional one noted from a cambodian fusion but a very good meal. Can't go wrong with this place - would recommend if you're out of ideas and want to try something around this area.

This restaurant has a tropical vibe which is cheap but clean. The waitress was very friendly and the food was served very quickly. I recommend going on a Thursday evening because the community has a live band that plays outside the restaurant. I ordered sirloin steak with fries. This meal is quite filling because you get a mountain of fries with your steak. My cousin ordered garlic duck with rice. The portions are substantial there's no room for dessert.

Stopped here on our way to Auckland Airport today, for something to eat. A little unusual in that the Thai-named cafe/restaurant also offered fairly standard western cafe fair, but hey, business is business.

My first experience of mince on toast, and my wife had the crispy chicken cutlets with rice. Well, I don't have much to compare the mince on toast to, I had little knowledge of expectation on exactly what it would be, so I wasn't really disappointed. My only way of describing it would be to say it was spaghetti bolognaise sauce on toast, with two fried eggs. I was thankful that at least the 'mince' had real tomato in it, and tasted decent enough. A strange combination, definitely a New Zealand thing as far as I am aware of, but I would be interested in trying more 'upmarket' variants of it in the future.

My wife said that her chicken was crispy, though the cutlet itself had been beatene extremly flat, pretty much like a parma kind of deal.

Their feijoa and apple smoothie was also very nice, reminicent of the Homestead Cafe at Horwick, while my Lime Milkshake was invoking childhood memories of artificial lime flavoured treats.

The locals were dining there and had a nice feel about it, so you know at least the locals feel its good (since many of the competing cafes down the same strip were considerably emptier).

As we live nearby, my family decided to have dinner here. Affordable and delicious dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Quick and excellent customer service! We had a birthday and they dimmed the lights just for the candles. I highly recommend this place if your lookong for an affordable satisfying meal. I will definitely come back to this place 😊

Been to this restaurant a few times now. Great value for money. I love the Pad Thai, Duck Curry, Satay Chicken stirfry and Fish Vegetable Amok. How ever my husband was dissappinted with his Steak, Egg and Mushroom served with Chips dish - was average. Service is great. Would be nice to have more south east asian dishes on the menu available rather than european dishes.

We had lunch there today
Quite OK
But nothing Asian on the menu we were given
Had the steak with chips and salad
Nice but way too many chips
Coffee was good
As was the service
My friend had the Phnom Penh breakfast
Bacon Baked Beans Egg Hash Brown Sausage and toast!
A weird experience indeed
Very busy so a good sign

My family love this place!!!! We come here for birthdays, celebrations or just for dinner 😍 there service is amazing. Menus are given to us upon arrival and seated straight away, service is always done with a smile and the waiter/waitress are always willing to help. Food is absolutely wonderful! Love their Kumara chips and their sirloin steak meal 😊 their smoothies are amazing. Food is always cooked well, and timely. Take away is even better when you feel like bringing your food home it's always packed so nicely and we are seated by the waiter/waitress while waiting. Highly recommended! Have already told friends and family and will continue to promote our experience here. We love it!!! Great place also for a date night with me and hubby A++++

Serving was good for the cost. Service was good and quick. Been wanting to go here for awhile so wasn't disappointed. We had the garlic duck, Nasi goreng, phat thaii. Meal was yummy but didn't really stand out. Will definitely go again and try different dishes.
Tom Dukeson
Easily the best food in this local area. I've struggled to find a curry that compares anywhere else. 10/10 would recommend. The service is friendly too. What's not to love?
Stango
The name is what caught my eye, I hoped I had found a new hub for great Southeast Asian food.

Upon entering, the layout was a bit confusing. Western styled cafe with sandwiches, bacon and eggs, and cakes on the menu. I had just eaten, so I settled with the blueberry mousse cake for my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised with the moist texture and flavour of the cake. They had even warmed it for me and served it with cream. Definitely worth trying! Their range of cakes in the cabinet are cafe-worthy. Not boring at all.

I didn't get the chance to test out their Cambodian dishes for authenticity, but I if these options are as good as their western options I'm all for it. As a cafe, I rate this place 4 out of 5. As an ethnic restaurant, not sure about the food yet, but I can vouch that it's more cleanly presented than many others that I've seen around Auckland.

Great evening out last night. Very friendly and happy service . Food was delicious and generous in portion size. When I happened to mention it was my daughter's birthday she was offered a free cookie. That was really nice. I was impressed with the menus and will definitely be back. However can you please bring back the original chocolate mousse ?-this was the only slight disappointment.
Belle T
Gave one of the waiters our order and she said she would memorise it. Order came and it was wrong /: beef burger wasn't that great and chips had way too much chicken salt on them. Smoothies were great tho
Maylene Gautusa
The service was great and the food was good. We will definitely be visiting again. The menu is a bit of a mix but I guess the may be trying to cater for the west too but overall a nice selection :)

YUM!

Cheap!

We came to have lunch in Mangere Bridge and wanted anything but boring cafe food so were excited to give PPRC a try.

Phnom Penh Restaurant/Cafe still has all the boring cafe food and pub grub as well as cambodian/thai classics (Menu is too big guys! do yourselves a favour and cut it down to the most popular! You must have to get so much food prepared!) but it was good!

Not amazing but good!

It had potential to be great... It seems confused about whether it's a cafe, a restaurant or a stall at a food court...

But we cant complain...loved the spring rolls, enjoyed the Laksa - ( was a little on the sweet side but not bad), found my partners Pad See Ew a little bland but again, not bad!

We were served by two lovely ladies and we had a nice lunch,

Thanks girls!

We'll be back!
Vitale Eti
The service @ PPR is always fantastic, the menu seems somewhat confused though and it almost feels like PPR are trying really hard to cover all types of food genres. Instead of sticking to doing one or two things really well.
Kelly
Always a great meal, great quality ingredients, good portion sizes, delicious meals and super friendly staff. Defo recommend Phnom Penh to eat in or takeaway. They also make a great flat white and awesome milkshakes.
Dan Hall
I have twice enjoyed their special: Tamarind Duck, although this is not on their regular menu they seem equipped to prepare it. The restaurant is situated in the Mangere Bridge strip and it's a very pleasant location for a Sunday brunch. Go have a meal and then stroll down around the waterfront.
Philley Sooipu
Tried this place out for the first time yesterday n it was pretty good. Food was delicious, customer service was excellent, especially from the new guy who didnt know much about the menu but did his very best to find out everything I needed to know. Even better . . they close late, which is always a bonus. Will definately be visiting this place on a regular basis. Loved it.

Great service - we ordered takeaway over the phone, and asked to be recommended a dish. The dish was Chicken Cashew Stirfry and was delicious. Really enjoyed the meal, will definitely eat there again.
Riiah
I come here often and the service never fails me! The portions are quite generous & their steak dishes are always perfect! I would recommend this place for anyone looking for good service, good pricing, & a good atmosphere!

Just ok so far.Needs to have a point of difference. At the moment is the same as so many other mediocre Asian eateries. Is a great opportunity to be a 'GO TO' place but hasn't made its mark yet.
