Review Jellyfish Restaurant & Bar - Mapua

First visit back under the new management. The sharing plate menu is excellent. The portions are perfect. The mix of flavours and the quality was on song. Great advice from knowledgeable staff. The Bao dessert was truly amazing. Small but effective wine and drinks list. The large dining room and outdoor seating is perfect for larger groups.

We went there for dessert and were pleasantly surprised with what we found. The creme Brule was served in a flatter plate resulting in more of that delicious Crack on top. The banana split looked Devine. The rhubarb was surprisingly tough, sadly, as if it had been cooked a little more it would have been a wonderful balance for the rich chocolate molten lava cake dessert. The waitress was very accommodating with this error. The log fire was a very pleasant addition on our cold winter night. Not too noisy too, which was nice. Great spot on the Mapua Wharf.

The Jellyfish is such a great spot with views out across the inlet. It's been a family favourite for a long time now and it's always a pleasure to visit for a meal. The food is cooked to perfection, presented perfectly and absolutely delicious. I have found the staff to be very welcoming, helpful and friendly. It can be quite a busy place at times so there may be a little bit of a wait but you are always very well taken care of in a very timely manner. I definitely highly recommend The Jellyfish to anyone looking for a great meal in Mapua.

Perfect spot for lunch! Food is fabulous. Can highly recommend the cabbage & kumara tacos, the bao buns and the seafood chowder. Kumara fries were yum too. Service was fab, prices were good and restaurant was gorgeous. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Māpua.

Friendly service, meals came out fast and to top it off, I had the best squid ever! A wonderful restaurant located in an amazing part of New Zealand. A visit won't disappoint you, especially on a beautiful hot sunny day.

Best desserts... eat dessert first or you will retreat not having enjoy room for them and they are amazing! Great location with excellent indoor and outdoor seating - perfect for families but also good for a nice date night The staff are great - wine list is good Make time to enjoy a meal here you will not regret it!

We really loved our breakfast here. Awesome setting, even in the rain. Delicious food and coffee. All perfectly prepared. Lovely staff and superb waitress from the UK - tulip cup aficionado! Loved our time and meal here - sure to return!! Great spot. Thank you.

Great food. We were a large group so really impressed with service. Was a bit chilly when we first arrived but toasty warm when the wood fire got cracked up. Well done the Jellyfish!

Amazing staff who were so helpful. Gorgeous food that was literally amazing and a nice classy family vibe. We sat outside by the wharf and it was lovely with a view of the water. There was a cool dog while we were there, and it was nice to be outside watching what everyone was up to around the water

Great phone service. Arranged for nice table and a happy birthday sign . Parking was fine on a Friday late lunch time. Food was good and served at a pleasant pace. Nice views and a good time.

chorizo and nduja rostie was certainly a new food for me to try! very tasty with a hint of spice from the chorizo and soft, poached eggs to contrast the crispy potato. side of kumara fries were crispy and seasoned nicely. yom

Came on a Monday night; very few people around (which I like). What a treat. Immediately got food envy as the pork belly (which was for my wife) was delicious, however my fish laksa was equally good!

Such a memorable lunch. The service was instantly friendly and welcoming. I had the beef tataki, which was stunning! If it is a southerly breeze but sunny, you can sit outside in the sun, sheltered from the wind. And with a view that is hard to beat.

Lovely lunch at the Jellyfish. Great views and delicious food. The pork belly bao and the Kokoda were standouts.

Always love coming here. The food is always too die for. The staff very good nothing a problem. Comfortable interior and the view is wonderful. Never in a hurry to leave and we find it's not overly expensive and meal size for us is perfect.

Probably one of our best restaurant meals in NZ. Dinner x4 on a Tuesday night midwinter with few people about…delightful crispy squid & tasty edamame beans starters. Beef Tataki & chestnut/mushroom dumplings for entrees - tasty as! Then beautiful Fish Laksa x3 and 1 Pork Belly. In both the flavours were amazing. My pork belly was Asian style with a gorgeous sweet sticky soya sauce - to die for. No room for desserts. With only around 18-20 diners we got very good service but with so few people the atmosphere was lessened. On food & service thoroughly recommend!

We held a quiz at the Jellyfish as part of our conference. Great venue. Great food. Fantastic service and a great group of people to deal with. Thanks again.

Absolutely fantastic food. An array of beautiful flavours. Wait staff were wonderful. Get there if you can!

When we arrived the waitress was not impressed to have to find a table for 8 people, then told us we had to be mindful of them because they were busy. It wasn’t an environment we felt welcome to stay in so we found somewhere else to have dinner.

We visited this small town 2 days ago. And we were surprised that this wharf has been newly invested and it is quite stylish. So after our sailing tour, we went to this restaurant to extend our sea dreams. From the moment we got into the restaurant, we were looked after very well. We saw most of tables were reserved for company Xmas dinner. It should be a popular spot in the town. I tried duck legs this time, yummy in deed. The waitress and her manager were nice. Do I like to give them two thumbs up.

Overcast Saturday but spent a lovely lunch with friends here. Sat outside in May and enjoyed the view, service and food. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection, my friends had steak and a pizza and seafood. Would return next time in Nelson.

What a great location this place is in. We went on a beautiful almost summers day (28th November) and it was stunning! We got a shared platter and found that a large portion of it was bread and odd that the only type of cheese on it was blue vein. It could have done with some tomato or grapes as it would have made it feel a lot more fresh but while we drank our beers in the sunshine, it was hard to complain. Definitely worth a visit if you can babb an outside table.

Have dined here before and it is always great. The staff are wonderful and attentive, the service is efficient considering the place is very busy. The food is great. We shared garlic bread and salt and pepper squid, both were good. I had the chicken leg dish, very tasty and the dessert of choc mocha pot didn't disappoint. I will return again.

We have been to Jellyfish Cafe and bar many times over the past year and have found the food, service and location all first class.
It’s such a great venue and the menu is full of seasonal fresh good food.
The cold apple cider is wonderful.

We've been to Jellyfish several times over the past year and have found the food, service and location all first class. It's such a gorgeous setting and the menu is full of seasonal fresh yummy food. Personal favourites are the fish soup and the pork salad. Simple tasty food done very very well. We'll be back - we can't miss a trip to Jellyfish every time we're in Nelson/Tasman. Keep up the great work!

Had visitors from Dunedin and decided to take them to the Jellyfish for a meal
What a mistake that was firstly we sat at empty table and before we ordered waitress told us to sit in the restaurant we had to order a meal or we needed to sit outside
We ordered 2x battered fish and 2 x salad.
The fish was overcooked to the point of being like leather and about 12 chips and the size of the fish was like 2 fish fingers in size
The salad had 2 very small pieces of chicken in it and a few tattered bits of lettuce and the bill $76.00
We were disgusted at the meal provided and vow we will never ever go back to the Jellyfish and we have been spreading the word about what a let down and disappointment both for us and our quests
If you go to Mapua don't go for a meal to the Jellyfish very expensive for what you get and one of the worst restaurants we have ever been to but we have learned our lesson

We visited on a Wednesday night to take advantage of their special of 2 mains and 2 drinks for $50.00. Meal was good, lamb was a little ordinary but the Thai pork was excellent and we were very happy until we went to pay and were told that the bill was not $50.00 as expected but $90.00 because we had walked in instead of booking by phone. The experience was ruined and we will not go back.

We've been several times now - dinner, breakfast, brunch, just a glass of wine... any excuse. Everything we've tried from the menu has been delicious but stand-outs for us were the groper with a beautifully judged Thai curry sauce and some wee courgettes, rolled in a secret breadcrumb and spice mix and then deep fried - YUM. The warm chocolate brownie ordered by my husband for dessert caused an unseemly wrangle over the spoons!

Great to have something a little different on the menu - I have been several times now and love the choices and agree with Kate the Sicilian fish being tomato based is a welcoming change from the usual seafood chowder. The Italian eggs for breakfast are to die for. Good wine list and friendly service - highly recommended
