Review The Vineyard Cafe At Margrain Vineyard - Martinborough

We went for an evening drink and it was really good. We sat outside near the vineyards and it was very beautiful. We had the platter with cheese, mushrooms, meat and veggies which was good for 6 of us with vines and pizza.

Awesome vineyard and cafe to visit in Martinborough. Customer service was top notch. Really friendly and helpful yet gave us enough space enjoy our meals and time. Lunch was super delicious and well worth every single penny paid for. Tasted five vines and loved all of them. Definitely visit again if we come back to Martinborough.

We went there for the lunch only. We ordered a variety of 3 special meals of the day. The lasagne was good; the lamb burger was ok; but the spicy chicken burger was outstanding. We loved the setting and was so surprised to see how busy this little cafe was just outside of Martinborough. We could not complain about the Service and the food was made exactly as we ordered it. A certain stop for lunch if you visit Cape Palliser and region.

This cafe can get busy so it is recommended that you book in advance for larger groups. The food was great. You can also head to their wine tasting room to try a range of local wines. Wonderful Kiwi hospitality on offer. 😊

We dined at the Vineyard Cafe recently as a party of three. The weather was a bonus, a treat to sit outdoors to enjoy the splendid views of the vineyard. The service was excellent and so was the food. We followed our meal with a wine tasting experience too. Thank you to all the staff at the Vineyard, we shall definitely be back.

4 of us went for a wine flight and platter lunch, although 2 of us opted for a glass of wine and pizza instead. We had a very nice lunch and afternoon in the sunshine including some wine tasting. We make a point of stopping at Margrain whenever we're over that way and have never been disappointed.

Had a group of 11 for lunch, pre booked in with a set menu. Really great place for lunch. Pizzas were great the the platters even better. There was some delay for our deserts but the added extras made up for it.

Delicious lunch at Margrain Cafe with a lovely view of the vineyard. If you have the time, sit down with a Five Flight (5 half glasses of wine you choose from their wine menu) and enjoy a bite to eat.

Really good food at a good price, great service & nice surroundings. Is family friendly as well. Worth a visit.

All vaxxed up . Called in for a wine tasting , 1box, 5 bottles and a platter for 2 washed down with a , you guessed it , wine. The owner gave us permission to park overnight on his road verge . A family owned and run business was very professional .

Came by for a quick drink and wine flight. Nice outside and pretty vineyard view but service was nonexistent after we ordered. Drinks arrived and servers didn’t stop by again. After finishing them and waiting for a bit, we decided to just pay and leave.

Good food, although the pizza bases had a strange, almost pita bread, but dry texture. Not a traditional pizza base recipe, for sure. Good toppings though. The atmosphere was great, with live background music. The service was very average. It was hard to get the server's attention to order more drinks or food and no attempt was made to check on whether we were enjoying our meals. I would suggest that bottled water would be a good option, as the tap water was not pleasant. Pricing was fair and if the service was better I'd give it 5/5.

We had 13 for lunch and it was a great experience. The waiting staff were so pleasant and helpful

We have been to Margrain Cafe multiple times. It was another nice experience. The service from the staff was excellent. We have young kids and were put on a table outside on lower level right next to the vineyard, which was great. Kids could run around and we could relax a bit. Also liked that they bought the kids food out before ours which meant that we could relax while eating ours instead of trying to feed ourselves and them at the same time. The fod is nothing super fancy but was tasty, well prepared and good options available for everyone including the kids.

Fantastic service and food! Had the pork belly which was delicious. Our server was lovely, friendly and fast. The water tasted fine (not sure what that other review was about) and the wine was amazing. Recommended!

Lot of play on the menu items. Some fantastic, some just okay. Recommend the pizzas, very good and one will feed two easily or snacks for a small group. Atmosphere is positively delightful, wanted to move in!

We've been here a few times in the past. Good service and tasty, fresh food. Great wine and love they have the cellar door opposite the cafe. Beautiful view of the vineyard. I was hoping you still had your Pinot Noir pot pie as it was very tasty last time we visited. Hope you bring it back on the menu again.

Besides a stunning wine tasting offering at Margrain Vineyard, the Vineyard cafe was great - depending on what you get. My friends had the pie, corn fritters and chicken sandwich, good but not great dishes, but I was lucky to have the pork belly salad - very good and a generous serving of pork belly and crackling!! Come here just for the pork belly!

Service is great, the food is nice.  I had the Haloumi salad which was divine, big juicy bits of the best haloumi I've ever tasted. My partner had the lamb burger which he said was excellent. The setting is lovely and it's definitely worth doing the wine tasting!

We went to The Vineyard Cafe on Sunday for lunch, the setting is lovely and the fire inthe Cafe was lovely given that it was a cold day.  On arrival we were greeted and shown to a table, the service was friendly and welcoming.  We ordered a beer and a glass of teh Sav which arrived quickly and were very nice.  In terms of the food I ordered the Pork Belly with Slaw and my companion ordered the Pinot Pie.  The pork belly itself was very nice but there was barely any on the plate and essentially I recevied a plate of undressed raw cabbage with the odd piece of apple - very disappointing.  The pie arrived with a massive piece of filo pastry on top with what looked to be the remains, of what was left in a crook pot the day before and lacked seasoning.  Total for both meals and drinks was $64.00 - based on this I would have expected a higher quality.  Not in a hurry to return.

Just diabolical!!<br/>The first time I went, years &amp; years ago, it was great - I really enjoyed the scampi dish I had. <br/>However, when I went back a while ago it was the worst dining experience I have ever had. <br/>My friend and I were seated by a young waitress just outside the interior area which, that day, had been booked for a function. There were already a lot of patrons seated outside but there were still a few empty tables. <br/>We were given menus and a carafe of water was brought to our table. Great we thought, but as we perused the menus &amp; sipped our water an older woman came over to our table (we think the owner or manager) and barked at us that we couldn't sit there - insisting that the table was reserved, even though there was nothing to indicate it, and the waitress looked at the woman as though she was stark raving mad or very much mistaken. <br/>We were told we could sit inside where the function was to be taking place. At the time, I weighed about 104kgs - my friend weighed in excess of 180Kgs. We felt that we were being discriminated against because of our weights &amp; judged solely on appearance, as everyone else there at the time were not what you'd call plus size. <br/>Ironically, the offensive woman was a lot on the hefty side herself. <br/>Feeling utterly humiliated, as this dialogue had taken place in full view of all the other customers who were all watching, we declined the order to sit inside amongst someone else's' wedding reception, and left, vowing to never go back.<br/>And we never have.

Friendly staff, great service, enjoyed the food

Lovely location, great food, good prices and efficient, friendly service. What more could you ask for? With the added bonus that, unlike some Martinborough vineyards, they will take bookings, so if you had a group of you or want to eat at a busy time, then The Vineyard Cafe at Margrain is a great option. The only thing I don't give 5 stars to is the coffee, but that's because of the beans they use. As it is difficult to find anywhere in the area that does any better, I certainly wouldn't miss out on this lovely cafe for that reason.
