Review Crouching Tiger - Martinborough

Nice ambiance. Very accommodating staff. Good service. Don’t need to wait long god food to arrive.

Google-searched ‘restaurants’ for a quick lunch whilst in Martinborough town centre for the first time. “Okay, how about we try this ‘Crouching Tiger’ for a change”. Didn’t get excited upon sighting our ordered meals. But, and but...I was wrong. Was amazed and astounded how fresh and beautiful their dishes were. Fusion. Reinvention? The PadThai and their pork belly/salad with a hint of mint...hmmm. Go try them yourselves..

We saw some poor reviews and hesitated to come here, but we are very glad we did. Food was quick, hot and good. Service was great and friendly. It got busy here quickly and they handled it well. I did comment to the manager about having seen the negative reviews and she said that person was no longer there. If you are put off by those reviews, don't be!

Went in to try the Yum Char which starts today for weekend lunch (first ever customers :). Really enjoyed it, good selection of dishes and the service was faultless.

Crouching Tiger has a new look great menu a lot brighter and cheerful staff are great great place to go.

Nice fusion food in Martinborough. Friendly staff. Must visit to try some exciting list of cuisine.

Food was fantastic, great service. One of the best restaurants in the wairarapa.

Thankfully booked a table during the busy new year period. Great gin and rose lemonade (who knew how fabulous this is). Two of us shared vegetable pakira, prawn summer rolls and chicken & ginger dumplings, followed by chicken pad thai. Everything was fresh, beautifully cooked and subtly seasoned. Waitstaff were all friendly and engaged. A really excellent experience.

What a great asset to Martinborough. Enjoyed flavorsome food and fantastic, friendly service here. Will definitely be back and can happily recommend. I think the bao buns were my favorite but the crispy chicken was also tasty...then there was the WOAP burger...sublime!

Serving size is decent. Got the Thai beef salad which was excellent. Beef was cooked in some parts rare and medium rare - was flavourful and tender Friends got the chicken laksa which I got to try - was on the creamier side. Had peas and carrots in it so it was real fusion but not bad. Went on Easter Monday (public holiday) and was open though there was a 15% surcharge. Price on the menu is average - $20-$26 for the main course. Staff were really friendly. After our order was taken, two further staff came back asking if our orders had been taken - did wonder if our order was put through. No complaints though.
