Review Rothko At Sculptureum - Matakana

The food was delicious- we had the beetroot ravioli and the fish and chips. Both meals were amazing, wish there was more ravioli though 😅 The wine was delicious and perfect paired with food and the weather at the time. Staff were nice and attentive but the restaurant wasn’t busy. Card machine had lost internet connection so make sure you have cash or you know how to do a bank transfer. Parking available too.

The restaurant is worth the visit, omg the prawns were the highlight. Amazing place to relax and enjoy a bit of fine dining on lazy summer days.

Amazing food! The fired chicken was crisp outside and meltingly soft inside. The sirloin and broccoli were cooked to perfection, and the salmon was very fresh. I would love to give 5 stars for the food and wine, but the service only worth 3 stars. So I am giving 4 stars.

The food was good, they could have had a better drinks menu, I would suggest booking if you go there as the place was packed.

An adequate lunch menu with beautifully prepared meals arriving quickly and efficiently. Our party included several younger members who would have liked a wider selection of meals to choose but this didn't detract from the pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff.

These galleries and gardens are world class. Sculptureum is sculpture gardens, art galleries, restaurants, and a vineyard all in one. The 3 sculpture filled gardens and the six indoor galleries are amazing.

Ordered fish and chips and salad with chicken. Both dishes were generous and very well prepared. The fish was thick and juicy with very light crisp batter sort of barely there. Half a dozen large thick chips accompanied it, hot and crispy. Lovely dressing. My partner enjoyed a substantial well cooked piece of chicken with his salad. The walnut bread was delicious. From our experience we would recommend a lunch at Rothko.

A surprise! Well worth visiting. Sensational layout, sculpture, art and gallery collection is mind blowing. Be prepared to need a follow up visit.

Lovely family lunch including 2 small children. Our waiter Lucas was outstanding. All his recommendations in terms of drinks and food were spot on! Friendly, humorous, attentive to all. The wee young boy was looked after well as was his Mum with a new baby! Fabulous experience, the food was devine! Keep Lucas and reward him, he made our day!

This place is magicial. We visited the place on a Sunday, getting there about 11am.....and didn't leave until just before closing having walked through all three gardens and dined in the restaurant for lunch. The artworks, gardens, galleries and creative visions of the owners is truely amazing. Capping it off was meeting one of the owners, Anthony, at one of the bird aviaries where he chatted to us (and the birds). It adds to the day when you meet the creators and see the enjoyment they get from sharing their vision. To top it off, the dining was exquisite. The food was beautifully presented with complex flavours. Finally, a thanks to Glenn for helping to make it a special day. Everyone should visit this place if in the Auckland region.

What a great place to visit. Absolutely loved it as it was something different. We went between Christmas and New Years week and enjoyed all the garden. Lots of parking. Entry price is reasonable. We were told by staff that we should of booked for lunch which we were not aware of before visiting. However you can have coffee and cabinet food ? Which we didn't do.

Such an eclectic mix of art, enjoyed the fact pieces are curated based on style regardless of the artist; meaning original pieces by some of the greats are displayed amongst relatively unknown Kiwi artists. Enjoyed the unpretentious and personal feel of the galleries and gardens. Really lovely and knowledgeable lady in the foyer. Stunning setting, incredible restaurant - highly recommend. Thanks for sharing with us!

Do not hesitate to add this to your list of must do's! The garden was interesting, peaceful and inspiring and the gallery and hidden garden has something to appeal to any taste in art and sculpture. I ran my battery flat taking photos of the stunning to the bizarre. Make sure you leave time to soak up the fabulous ambiance in the restaurant and bar Rothko. Superb wines and very attentive and knowledgeable staff. We will definitely be back for a longer visit to soak it all in. In fact we've booked for Christmas Eve!

Had an amazing time at Sculptureum. Just fantastic. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. The place made me smile and the colour and creativity just made me feel alive. Every time you turned your head there was another surprise. Loved the place so much. Congratulation all around on such an amazing project.

What a find! Stunning gardens and sculptures, who would know Rodin and Picasso were just up the road from Warkworth, the settings for each Gallery are stunning, the works of art fabulous, really an eclectic mix of Art. Lunch in the Rothko restaurant was a delight, service excellent with a small but superb menu. Thank you for an amazing day, you do need to shout what you have at Omaha Flats unless you want to keep it just for yourselves (which I would understand)

Loved the varied displays, with the personal description of each piece. A fantastic way to spend a day, finishing off the viewing with a tasty bite to eat in the restaurant. We will be back when we have overseas visitors as we would put this high on the list of 'things to do'.
