Review Smiths Matakana Country Park - Matakana

Great place for lunch in Matakana! We got 2 platters (meat and seafood) plus some side dishes (mussels and sweet potato fries) and wine and beers. The highlight was definitely the fried fish in the seafood platter (I would order fish and chips if I went again) and the mussels were also quite good. We got desserts as well - apple crumble was my favourite between the 2 we order, the other being a 3 chocolate dish. We lunched outside in the covered area. Overall, great place, atmosphere, and fantastic service!

We had a great time eating delicious food at Smiths Matakana. The atmosphere was awesome and we definitely liked the new outside area, its very modern and stylish. The menu has lots of varieties. The wait staffs are very friendly and committed. Most importantly ! every items we ordered were tasted great.

We love Smiths! We go regularly and everything is always really yum 😁 The sticky cauliflower, the smoked brisket twinkies, the sticky wok Kumara, and the French dip sliders are soooo good!! Cocktails are only $12.50 on saturdays which is a great & the staff are super friendly 😊

It was our first visit to Smiths, and it was worth the long drive! This place offers much more than you'd expect, and it's definitely worth visiting! Food was excellent, and good value for money. Both the seafood platter and the meat platter were well thought out and executed! Fish tacos, Korean chicken, and calamari were some of the other dishes we really enjoyed. If you are like us and don't enjoy coriander, let the staff know and they will oblige (well, they did for us). Kids menu is perfect in its simplicity, and kids around the place seem like they loved their food. On that note, this place is a heaven for parents with kids (think kids doing pony rides while you're watching from the deck, sipping drink and soaking up the summer). Highly recommended for visitors to Auckland, as Matakana has more to offer. Place is very much child-friendly, and accessible by a wheelchair. Plenty of parking in the surrounding area.

We dine at Smiths regularly and have never had a bad experience. The sharing plates are ample and arrive quickly, we have tried almost everything on the menu and pronounce it all delicious. From an evening out with friends or a cosy date night this restaurant has large and small spaces to suit the occasion. The staff are welcoming and friendly which makes coming back a pleasure. Well done.

Booked this place on a first table and let’s say they did not disappoint. Food exceptional- except the jalapeño were still cold in the center, rest of the food amazing. Food also came fast. Atmosphere great kids looked out over the pony rides kept them occupied. Service always came and check and cleared the tables when they saw empty plates Drinks menu is great everything and the taps availability perfect. Would consider hosting more events in this area at this place

Great spot just out of the busy town centre. Amazing prices, high quality food, incredible atmosphere/setting and really fantastic enthusiast servers as well. The cocktails are a good price and are delicious.

Been here at least half a dozen times, and half a dozen times we have been impressed. The food is a little bit different, but delicious nonetheless. Whoever works in the kitchen has a good handle on how to cook tremendous food. We will definitely be back again.

Food was incredible yum and the flavor "mouth watering" plus such good service.....pricing can't believe it for what you got, realy good value...... Definitely going back!

Came here for a special celebration date night dinner and left disappointed. The hawker roll was soggy and sad. The squid was beautifully cooked but had no. salt. at. all. and neither did the salt grinder on the table. Sweet & sour pork & prawns had tough overcooked pork, heavily battered prawns and overpowering vinegar. The broccoli dish was quite nicely flavoured and the one thing I’d order again. Waitstaff were lovely.

Smiths ooo la la it's so damn good you gotta try out this place sis. Only been here once with my family and family friends and we just ordered heaps of different dishes and shared everything. The food was so tasty and full of flavour and everything seemed to come out at the same time which is always lovely. I really wanna go back here it's dope. x

Popped in for a casual dinner at Smiths and loved this place. Ticks all the boxes. Service good, cocktails great and the food is awesome. Delicious tacos, spicy rendang with roti and sweet sticky kumera. Very reasonably priced too. Look forward to coming back.

Came on a Wednesday night. Lovely staff and good ambience. We ordered 2 pizzas, was served quickly. However both the pizzas were very salty and had too much sauce and herbs. Still enjoyed ourselves :)

Smiths is delightful, whether sitting outside on the deck, or snuggling inside, now that winter is at our door. Although essentially a pub, Smith’s Asian-fusion food is outstanding and makes it a foodie destination. Steamed buns, roti... It is amazing how the greater Auckland food has developed; meat and three veg is long gone! The service at Smiths is warm and friendly, like a good pub should be,

Hard to fault really. Warm welcome followed by excellent hospitality. Deliciously cold drinks on a hot day enjoyed on a spacious deck area. Fantastic sharing plates for sharing: fish tacos, calamari with chorizo, and potato skins with truffle mayo. Excellent service, superb food and very good value for money. It gets my vote over the Brewery.

Love this little place beside the stables. Went there with wife and a friend and got some sharing platters, beer and cider. Was great value for money and great food.

Great little eatery for a Sat night - amazing food catering for a wide variety of tastes (our group included 2x kids, 1x vegetarian & 1 with allergies).<br/><br/>Loved the generous sharing plates especially the mushroom croquette & potato skins (can still taste the truffles dipping sauce)! <br/><br/>Lovely to find a place that appealed to all with great drinks & lovely staff (so helpful)! Great little bar in Matakana. Such a cool vibe and super relaxed atmosphere. The food was awesome (tapas style). We had the squid, chicken, mussel fritters (the fritters were 10/10) and the trifle for desert. Staff were so friendly and really attentive table service which is nice for a change. The mohito was one of the best I've had....they have a great drinks menu and all the cocktails are real classics. Will be back next weekend!
