Review The Farmers Daughter - Matakana

Beautiful and clean food - our go to whenever we’re in the area. Their menu’s seasonal and changes with produce availability so you’re sure to get fresh and great tasting food all year. We had Ricotta with Honeycomb and Turkish eggs - balance of flavour for ricotta was 100!

Small size cafe. Daddy was a main character, sacrificed his time and passion for cooking in front of us (opened kitchen). Ordered French toast and a burger. Waited for 30 minutes as a bit busy weekday midday. It tasted good. Coffee was great. Cup and cutlery were a bit dirty. Love the view looks over the garden. Simple decoration.

We stopped at The Farmers Daughter for a quick coffee and snack. Service is pretty quick and nice. The coffee was perfect and the croissants we had were fresh and tasty. We sat in the beautiful large garden and relaxed to the nice chill music. Great atmosphere and great views. Good for solo visits or catching up with friends. I am looking forward to coming back and trying the dinner menu. The dinning area looks lovely.

Awesome place with a great holistic and sustainable vibe. Incredible views over looking the estuary. Ive been away for 2 and a half years and it was great to pop back in there and get a coffee. Epic they use Organic Kōkako coffee also.

This place is so wonderful, the food is fresh and flavoursome. Who ever put the tastiest hash browns on the dinner menu is a genius. We ate dinner and then came back for brunch the very next day.

Loved the ambience, option of nice wine.

We stopped here for lunch after reading a few reviews on google. It would be handy if the name of the cafe was on the building. Maybe it is and we just missed it. We had the abundance bowl and sweet potato soup. The abundance bowl had so many ingredients both fresh and pickled vegetables eg carrot, cauliflower, pumpkin, broccoli, beetroot. It definitely looked super fresh and healthy. My partner felt there was too much salad leaves and maybe not enough dressing. Serving on a plate made it difficult to combine without spilling over the edge. The soup was good, really nicely flavoured. I hated the bread it came with but I think that’s a personal prejudice - I don’t like bread with loads of seeds. Coffee was really good and staff very friendly. There is a cool outdoor area with beautiful views of the water.

I had brunch with my family who were visiting from the UK and they were really impressed with this place! The views, the food and the fact they cater for kids are why I gave this 5 stars! Food was delicious and the atmosphere was so relaxing. I think it’s the first time I have managed to relax in cafe since my toddler has arrived! Definitely a place to recommend and to visit again a and again!

Such a lovely setting and wonderful staff. Super accommodating and polite - it was like coming to an old friends’ house for dinner. Oh, and the food was delectable! Highly recommend!

Poached egg perfection. Popped in for a coffee and a light breakfast of poached eggs; freshest eggs ever, delicious peppery rocket on lovely toast and excellent coffee, oh and pretty sweet location. Highly recommended!

Lovely venue and staff Cabinet food limited ,pasta looked tasty but as a gluten intolerant person who can't eat eggs struggled to find something. Had salad which lacked flavour. Bit disappointed probably won't be back.

Cafe has a nice and welcoming setting. Staffs are friendly and knows their food. Pet is OK if dine on deck. Check weather before visit as deck is not weather tight. Great food and coffee. Variety of breads made freshly daily are must tries! 5 mins to stunning Omaha Beach.

Farmers Daughter is a hidden gem with great views. It is on the way to Omaha Beach and only a few minute drive from Matakana. The food is so fresh and organic as you can physically see their vegetable garden at the back. We had the market fish (king fish) which had plenty of vegetables with a touch of citrus (yummmm) and broccolini with smoked kahawai (extra add on but highly recommended). The ambiance is chilled, local and relaxing perfect for lunch. It is also excellent for kids and dogs as they have a modest playground area and a huge back yard. Highly recommended!!!

Soooo good! Really delicious food with very friendly staff. I always take my parents here when they fly in from out of town 🙏🏼

The meals were very basic for what you are paying here. The wait time was a bit too long as well. The free range eggs on sour dough was literally just two eggs on sourdough and nothing else, no salad no sauces. The sourdoughs crust was so hard we couldn’t cut it with our knives so had to use our hands to tear the crust off and leave it. I won’t come back but will say the atmosphere and view was great. Come here for drinks and a view not food.

I was incredibly disappointed with this place. The staff are atrocious. I was served by the most stuck up little miss I have ever come across in my 64 years. She swanned up to our table after we had been moved twice, and in a very posh voice with no smile said what can I get you darling. I nicely asked her not to call me darling and she called me rude and asked me if I was going to be nice. I was shocked. Who is this person? after reading other reviews on tripadvisor I was heartened to note that mine was not an isolated incident. Visit at your peril!!

I didn’t have time to sit down and have a meal here but since I was in the area I wanted to see if I could pop in and grab some cabinet food.
They only had this pecan tart to takeaway so I grabbed that and it was AMAZING!
So much chocolate and pecans but it wasn’t overly sweet and the pastry was perfection.
The lady that served me seemed very down to earth and was very lovely:)
I definitely need to come here and try their kitchen menu!
