Review Tuck Shop - Matakana

Brent Pizzato
We got here just after 6 on a Friday evening and it was pretty quiet. We had a couple of burgers - the long line and the free ranger - along with a couple of bowls of the loaded fries, one bowl would have been enough. The burgers were delicious, as were the loaded fries. Service was friendly and by the time we left, just before 7, the place was getting quite busy.

A great little place for a coffee and quick bite. Staff made me a coffee that was not on there menu which was much appreciated.

This place is a 10/10! I got the Pablo burger which is the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. I also got the side of fries for $5 which I thought would only be enough for me but it wouldve been enough for a table of 3-4! How good?! Could not recommend a place more for affordable eats!

I love this place. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the prices are so reasonable. 2 fish tacos and a large flat white for lunch, under $20. Can’t go wrong!

Great Coffee, excellent eats. I particular enjoy the Hero Salad, which comes from the Matakana Market Kitchen downstairs. All the baked goods are awesome and there is a good selection of gluten free treats as well. Friendly service. Ice cream is amazing too.

A good place to eat. The first eggs bene had very hard eggs, so I sent it back and the second try was perfect! They offered a free drink while I waited too, so excellent service. Cheers!

Great experience here! Lots of food on offer at very reasonable prices. Staff were friendly. The place is small and the pink colours are a bit glaring for me, but the open window seats are quite nice! No complaints about the coffee, and I'll add to the recommendations on the garlic chips - they were delicious and you get quite a large portion, so perhaps share it with someone if you're not super hungry. Overall a lovely place to go to if you're not sure where to go for a bite in the area!

Great little diner. Well priced and intimate surround. Decent burgers and shakes and mammoth loaded chips. Best thing is the fantastic bubbly staff who look after you very well. Ice creams as well if you can fit them.

One of my favourite spots ever. They serve amazing burgers and perfectly cooked and seasoned fries AND for such great prices. Their range of burgers is great as is their range of other menu items from duck tacos to paninis, baked goods, ice-cream (including real fruit ice-cream) and coffee. The staff are also really pleasant, and the diner itself has a super cute interior and is perfectly situated for people-watching.

We loved their chicken salad and skinny fries!

This is a favourite meal stop on the way to Tawharanui Regional Park. Today I enjoyed a nice hot curried lentil and apple soup, a creamy smooth flat white and a sublime doris plum over waffle cone ice cream. I love this place. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere just right when I'm in one of those reflective moods.

Exquisite food and great ice cream range. The desserts were also creative and delicious. Only problem was that the breakfast panini didn't have hollandaise sauce after advertising that it did. This wasn't too much of an issue however as the staff were very helpful and extremely friendly so they just put some hollandaise on it after I asked and that was it. Would definitely recommend if you're going to Matakana.

We simply loved it. Good food, good quantity and super friendly staff! We will 100% stop here next time we come to Matakana and recommend everybody to try it. The coffee was also good and the turmeric latte was worth the try (with added sugar). To show how good the people are here too, we forgot our umbrellas but the waiter ran all the way around the road just to give them back to us. Thanks again!!!

Nice gourmet burger for the kid, the vegetarian wasn’t my favourite but still decent. Ice cream was good. Lovely people!

The Tramcar Diner serve big, juicy, delicious burgers and perfectly cooked and seasoned fries AND for such great prices (most burgers are $10 and chips or fries only $4). Their range of burgers is great as is their range of other menu items from duck tacos to paninis, baked goods, icecream and coffee.
The staff are also really pleasant, and the diner itself has a super cute interior and is perfectly situated for people-watching. One of my favourite places.

My brother had an ice cream from here which he said was yum. The cones are a bit budget though but I'm not sure if thats just the kiddie scoops one. Not bad if you are not feeling a real fruit ice cream from across the road and just want a normal one but nothing too special about it .

A great pit stop if heading North of Auckland. Amazing flavor in their burgers, we ordered The Mata-kanavore Burger & The Donald Burger & they are some of the best burgers we have had. Unfortunately did not get any of the Milkshakes IceCream but will definately be back & will have to try those, they look amazing. Great service too. Highly recommend coming to dine here! 👌

The thick Freak shake is just plain strawberry milk. Was not thick at all. Not value for money for $15.
Wait time's about twenty minutes.

Fush n chips was average.
Wish a great little spot that has really delicious salads. The coffee is also awesome and the range of sweet treats are well worth a try. Great menu with lots of variety. Funky and colourful decor. Great being right next to the Matakana cinemas so you don't get trapped into eating good out of a packet!

A very cute spot with huge, delicious burgers and a great range of ice cream! It's very popular with the locals, of all ages, and service is fast and friendly. Tasty smoothies here as well. A perfect summer visit.

Tuck Shop offers exceptionally nice Oob (Omaha oganic berries) ice-creams. We had Mango Passion & Mocha. The taste was absolutely marvellous. My wife's favourite was Liquorice - something not commonly available in dessert parlours.

Came here looking for dessert and we got the tuck cups here, both flavours.
The granola one with the fruits was amazing, words cannot describe the crunchiness of the oats and seeds and the yoghurt with fruits--absolutely stunning!
It's a shame I live all the way in Auckland! They should expand to Auckland CBD!
