Review Eat Urban Foodstuffs - Matamata

I am incredibly picky when it comes to eating out, especially with coffee. The Barista today I could not fault. It was an exceptionally smooth coffee. My partner and I both ordered the “Little Breakfast” and it was the perfect amount of everything and didn’t leave us feeling over full. Flavour in the mushrooms were beautiful and the sausage and bacon was delicious (so nice to not be dished up a kransky sausage). We always order poached eggs when we eat out and these were poached to perfection…. Not a hard yolk in sight! We grabbed a couple of the delicious looking blueberry and creak cheese muffins to take away as well. Will definitely be back on our next trip through. Excellent friendly service as well. Thanks so much ladies for making an amazing first impression. We will definitely e recommending you to everyone 🤩

Quite an assortment of à la mode options. The espresso is great, and there are also cold drinks available. Have been here several times this year.

Amazing Cafe! Came here for breakfast and left so full on high quality food! They have daily specials with an all day breakfast menu with excellent selection

Came here to get some breakfast. To eat I ordered the Chicken and Bacon melt out of the cabinet. This was delicious with a good portion of chicken and bacon inside. To drink I got a hot chocolate which was also good. Overall I would recommend coming here if you're in Matamata and want to get breakfast.

Always get a burger when i go here. But the iced coffee today was the best of my life. Creamy. Sweet. With a coffee hit. And topped with creme!

thai green curry- delicious with a bit of heat. pumpkin soup - thick, tasty, with subtle under flavour of heat. Coffee very good. Would definitely go back

It's not a big one, but it has numerous stuffs to choose from. You can enjoy the fresh made coffee and good pies/pastry inside or outdoors. Just park outside and come to this quite relaxing place for breakfast or brunch.

Good food selection. Reasonably priced; well presented. Was hot. Chai latte was well done with thick and frothy milk on top.

Always great coffee. Savoury scones are especially yummy. Extensive blackboard menu.

Fabulous food, great options for dietary requirements: dairy free, gluten free. We did have to wait a while for the food to come out though as it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Customer service could do with some improvement…..

Cosy little cafe in the heart of Matamata . A great selection of sandwiches and pies and scones/muffins . My coffee was bitter so I've only rated it 4 stars . The staff were friendly and approachable . An excellent breakfast and lunch menu at reasonable prices . Kids meals were the usual suspects. Pancakes, Chicken Nuggets and Scrambled eggs .

First time experience at this busy cafe (Saturday lunchtime) with a very extensive menu & very good quality cabinet food. It is busy for a good reason as the creamy chicken cabinet pie was delicious with light pastry & the coffee has a beautiful flavour. However the service time requires some working on, this aspect being to slow when they are busy. Still highly recommend due to the extensive quality of food on offer & extra large coffee option. Revisited on a quiet Monday afternoon & can once again praise the quality of their own made pie's & sweet options which are superb. Steve Franklin Rotorua

This place was very busy, Service was good and pleasant. The food was good we had scrambled eggs on toast. I wouldn't order coffee from there again not very pleasant at all. However they do some amazing smoothies so I would get something like that instead. I would go back for sure.

Ordered Steak sandwich, requested medium well~it turned out to be well done steak. luckily, still taste good and soft. Fries are crispy~<br/>

I had Iced Americano. The taste of the coffee is very smooth and authentic without the bitterness. Egg bennie was amazing. Must try the bread that comes with egg bennie. It's different from other places. 5 stars from me.

Wonderful food, especially the bread is next level. <br/>Seafood chowder is so creamy and has lots of seafood in it.<br/>Must try the smoothies. They are the best.

We chose our meals of the menu. Good sized meals, average price of $20 per person excluding drinks. A nice range of choices from the cabinet or off the menu board

We had lunch here over queens birthday weekend it was very busy but the food was fresh and enjoyable. Coffees a good size. Would recommend visiting here

Fantastic healthy food, presented beautifully. Such a brilliant range of top quality food to keep anyone from Vegan to Meat and veg types very happy! I rate this one of the best cafes in NZ and we get around many!

Had lunch here yesterday and really enjoyed it. Fresh and tasty and the service was very good.<br/>The food looked and tasted great and we were looked after by the staff very well. <br/>We will be back. Being a chef myself I am very critical so thanks for that.

I used to love this place. Always called there when in Matamata and have used it as a place to meet people when travelling. An out of town regular, I have seen this cafe evolve over the years.<br/>Tuesdays experience was awful. Went there at 2.50pm for afternoon tea. Food was as good as usual but presentation no so. We were seated by the door and eating when someone picked up the entrance floor mat and shook it vigorously in the door way before folding it and putting it on a table! Next the vacuum cleaner was bought out and placed in front of us. 3.05pm by now. Plates cleared with no comments or pleasantries. I hear this place has changed hands. New owners need to understand that people went there not only for the food but the great service and whole experience.

Went to eat having been before and the service being good.<br/>Not today however.<br/>Placed our order and waited for our usual 10 to 15 minutes which is acceptable to me, got our coffee's in a timely manner but then a couple who had walked in 10 minutes after us were served their food which was actually our meal ( the server looked for us afterwards and we saw her expression as she found us and realized her mistake).<br/>So after a further 10 minute wait I though we would have another coffee (minor glitch, not enough to leave) and before getting the coffee my partner asked the server how much longer our meal would be to which she replied "not much longer" no "sorry I made a mistake" or anything of that nature. Still ordered our coffee but then had to wait 10 minutes for our coffees to be made which arrived well after our already late meal did.<br/>When we received our meal all we got was a "sorry it took so long" which would have been acceptable had we not seen the mistake and had no acknowledgement of it before.<br/>Very very disappointed.

Love love love Eat, always friendly and plenty of options, the breakfast mushrooms are amazing so much so I have begged for the recipe (to no avail) the coffee is the best in town and I my meals have always been full of flavour and large servings. I just cant describe how much I love EAT food. The Lamb Shank and Kumera pie is the best you will ever have, divine!!!

My wife and I are Vegan and eating out is usually a case of 20 questions... How refreshing to find a place with Vegan food already prepared, and how yummy it was! Thanks heaps, we will be back, and the coffee....GREAT!

I went here again for coffee and again the coffee was terrible! at a table of four none of us enjoyed our coffee witch is disappointing as we love the food and staff are friendly. will not be back in a hurry.

My husband and I were planning on stopping in Matamata for lunch to break up the trip home from Taupo. We are a little fussy when it comes to eating out and did not want to spend lots of time looking around. Eat.urban had a couple of good reviews so we felt confident to try it out! <br/><br/>We are glad we did, the food was great we ordered corn fritters, butter chicken pie and the fries (oh boy the fries were the best ever!) and a coffee. <br/><br/>There are so many options I was stumped about what to order. the options all look so tasty, are varied there are options for a low-carb diet and lots of decent gluten free options. and there is something in the budget for everyone, however I feel the prices are very reasonable for a decent cafe.<br/><br/>I think you will enjoy this place if you dine there.<br/><br/>Another great thing is that they do take home meals, for when you want a night off, including a home made meatloaf! Yum!

always have great food and coffee's here! they are a weee bit pricey though!
