We stumbled upon this cozy cafe while looking for a coffee shop that wasn't too busy. The staff were friendly. Service took a while taking into consideration our orders: 2 cups of coffee and 2 slices of apple crumble. The coffee was good and the food was okay.
This is an amazing Cafe, great family service. Staff were friendly, food was delicious, coffee is recommended here. We spoke with the owner for a while she is an amazing personality.
I'm going to make this our regular stop at Matamata from now on.
Small cafe but so beautiful interior and well maintained. Cafe may be bit expensive and yes they do have organic food and dishes. You can take a photo of yours in a Hobbit attire. Loved the experience being here.
Charming little cafe with great food. Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the 30 minute waiting time for our bacon eggs & toast. Great coffee, friendly service, lovely atmosphere with painted walls, vintage crockery and small woolen blankets on all the outside seats!
This place was so stinkin' cute. Loved the little LOTR dress-up corner--made it feel like someone's home. Also, I had the best chai latte of my life here!
Nice pleasant place for a coffee and snack. You could also dress up as a Hobbit for photos (for $5) for a bit of fun. I had the beef vegetable soup, which was hearty and warmed me up. The eggs and bacon were basic but great, as well the apple pie and the omelette - all simply prepared and played and all good. The service was warm and friendly. Only slight downside was the place was open to the cold winter winds, warm knitted coverings for your legs were provided, but you and your coffee could chilled quickly. Inexpensive and great value for money.
Nice meal all home made ! Perfect to have a break in the hobbit life 😁
Fun little cafe family owned and good food
Cosy little cottage-cafe, with admittedly lots of touristic features, but not lacking in charm and hospitality. One of the best flat whites of my trip, in a HUGE cup! I very much enjoyed their fresh salads along with the "troll stack". Cute interior, sunny outside area. Overall charming, cosy, and a surprisingly good value for money. Heading straight here next time I'm in town.
Great food, great staff. The right atmosphere for a visit to Hobbiton
