Review Indian Flame Restaurant - Matamata

Dinner was the shizz! Loved it all. We all had different dishes and first time trying them, it was a hit! The only thing I would recommend is a bowl of rice for each dish as all 3 of us adults had to share one bowl of rice, and then we were charged for the second one we requested because there simply was not enough rice. My favourite is the cheesy garlic naan bread! Amazing! Overall would go back again and again. The lovely young lady who took our order was awesome!

Did not arrive with high expectations. Only Indian cuisine still open late on a Sunday. I love a nice curry, and anything named "Fusion" is typically a miss. I was so incredibly wrong in my initial judgment. The friendliness and courtesy of the staff from the beginning was extraordinary; it was easy to tell this humble restaurant is focused on providing the best service first. From the moment I said "hello, could we have a table please", I genuinely felt like family. The food was incredible: plenty of flavor, the right amount of spice (we all asked for Medium spice). We started with a plate of Samosas, then Lamb Rogan Josh, Mango Chicken, and Madras Lamb and Chicken all brought to the table, along with an assortment of Naan. I highly recommend all of it. One of my last meals before returning to The States, and it's surely one I'll remember. 10/10, I intend to return on my next trip.

We were only in the area for a week and we went twice for dinner. Amazing food and even more amazing service from the staff. 10/10 recommend!

Great service and the food was delicious. We also tried the masala tea and it was sublime. We will definitely come back. We fell in love!!! One of the best places we’ve been since my friends and I arrived four months ago. They were really kind to us. :)

Very nice and such a surprise to find in Matamata. Liked the flavourful food and snacks and not hot. Great service and pleasant ambiance. They even have a bar. I had the Kingfisher Indian beer which went well with dinner. We will be back often.

Superb meal! Great flavor and friendly staff. Loved both out curries. The naan is delightful too, with the perfect stretch and texture.

AMAZING service, very welcoming, and incredible food. Plus it’s reasonably priced. All in all, beyond exceptional. Best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to.

We came through for a holiday from Australia and booked in here. It's a small family run business and we all left saying it is honestly the BEST indian we have EVER had! We had four dishes we all loved! We were so full at the end and the staff were super lovely!! They gave us the leftovers as a take away bag and made sure we were full, satisfied and happy before we left. Would recommend to anyone travelling through to visit this place!!!

Had the tastiest saag chicken and most delicious cheesy garlic naan. The staff were attentive and friendly and while small it had a wonderful atmosphere. I will definitely be back to try another dish the next time I'm passing through!

To be honest this is the best buttered chicken an chicken briyani I’ve been eaten here in New Zealand... absolutely if I will come again in matamata I will dine here 100%

Read the positive reviews and BOY WAS I GLAD we went there. Honey cauliflower and butter chicken were delicious. The coconut rice was outstanding. Plenty of food for the great prices too. Will be back!

What a way to end the night. Our food was hot, tasty and absolutely amazing for the affordable price we paid. The service was awesome, a young lady who took our order provided recommendations which saw us trying new dishes and they did not disappoint. If I had to point anything out it would only be that there was not enough rice for our dishes. 3 adults had to share 1 bowl of rice, and then we were charged for requesting another bowl of rice to finish our meals. But other than that, it was divine. Don’t forget to try the cheesy garlic naan bread! You’ll be sure to return. Thank you!

We always receive friendly service from the owners and the staff. We ordered the the Chef's special the chicken lollipops and it was super delicious the chicken was perfectly cooked. We will definitely order it again. Well done 👍
