Review The Cheese Barn - Matatoki

Cheese barn is BYO place only for Alcohol. You can have Nice Pizza menu or Cheese platter. Outside seating is good fun. Nice rural farm with Birds, Guniepigs, Lama and goat. If you are passing the area, Must visit on the way and chill.

What a good meeting spot!! Had a lovely Cheese platter, BYO bubbles & the best catch up! Great for little ones too with the Farm animals right there. Will have to go back though as I was so busy talking u forgot to actually buy some cheese after lunch!! 🙄

The Cheese Barn is at a very beautiful location and you can enjoy your coffee and food outside with all these animals around. The prices are good and the cheese is really good! Loved to be there.

Great place for stopover and relax before continuing your journey. We were on our way back to Auckland from blueberry picking nearby. A bit pricey but worth it. Great selection for cheese lover especially the award wining organic Qumin seed Gouda while the kids can enjoy the small playground under the tree outside.

Great little spot for lunch and coffee. Their meat pies had a nice flakey crust and tasty filling, and I believe most of their food is made from scratch. They serve all the usual NZ coffee options, and they have a great view of the surrounding farm. It's a really nice, cozy place. They also have a good wine selection. It's located on the farm, so you get the chance to see some of their animals. The picnic tables are right along some of the sheep, and they have a few cages scattered around the front with guinea pigs. There are also some bird cages near the back. Overall, it's a very scenic and homey place. Definitely recommend!

Great place to take the grandchildren. They loved the animals and the alpacas were beautiful even if they spat at us. Fabulous pizza and great coffee. Open over new year!

If you are looking for something a little different, then try this, good food and the you can feed the animals,the goats are enteraining, particularly the brown male...great face...😀

The Matatoki Cheese Barn is a great place to drop by to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Their cheese platter has a good variety to sample. The Organic Garlic & Chive Gouda is a must try; full of flavour! 😄The Kallarney Blue suits the adventurous among us 🤩 Family friendly with big outside lawn (playground and farm animals great entertainment for kids). When on the Hauraki Rail Trail we ensure our Tours and Bike Hires know about the fantastic Cheesebarn. We all have stopped here ourselves being part of the community. The food is great and the owner is a lovely lady with a great team. The farm animals make a nice touch. The building is charming and having fresh cheese made right in Matatoki is such a treat. We all have our favourites mine is the Riccotta. If you plan to go through Matatoki we recommend stopping by the Cheesebarn and enjoying this lovely establishment.

Called in for a light lunch and a drink. We ended up buying some organic cumin seed gouda and some Granadano Parmesan, aged vegetarian Italian cheese as well as a gluten free strawberry tart and cheese scone. We got to pet the friendly goat and the free range chickens - super cute place, lovely atmosphere and food. Loved it.

What great way to get into ebiking. Leave Thames, pedal for a while and find this gem lunch stop just down the trail. Enjoy the food have a wine and pedal back to town.

Enjoyed the coffee and ice cream, there's friendly animals outside. Goats and birds. Weather was great. Tables had umbrellas to keep the sun off, there was a party going on and it didn't affect the rest of us patrons.

I cycled along the Rail trail and stopped for a beautiful iced coffee. It is a beautiful peaceful oasis with greenery, animals, and vintage props. Lovely place to rest a while

We had a great stop at The Cheese Barn whilst cycling the Hauraki Rail Trail from Thames to Paeora. It was a excellent stop, to enjoy some delicious food & perfect to sit outside in the shade whilst watching the animals on a stunning sunny day. Perfect spot to relax.
