Review Country Cottage Cafe - Mataura Island

We stopped in on our way through to Alexandra. What a gorgeous cafe. I bought 2 chicken wraps which were the most delicious wraps we've ever had. The takeaway coffee was great too. Highly recommend stopping in at the country cottage cafe.

Such a beautiful lite cafe was lovely and warm. The new owner is fantastic, top service with even better food and by far the best frappes around

Driving through Mataura this morning and stopped at this little cafe. Brought a cinnamon scroll which was delicious. All the cabinet food looked delicious. Would definitely recommend stopping if you are passing through town.

Have been to this cafe a number of times and generally all good. The latest visit the meal arrived server didn't notice that there weren't any knifes and forks at the table. So I went to another table to get some. The knife looked as though it hadn't been washed. Also alot of noise from the kitchen can be heard thru the cafe.

What a great spot. They were ending service but did not hesitate to make us a late lunch. And it was delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Chai latte is always the best from here! I go here often and have never been disappointed! Their cinammon rolls are amazing heated up on a cold day. Always a fav to come here!

The pineapple lump fudge was amazing. As was the cinnamon scroll. Was busy with locals, always a good sign they are consistently good.

Stopped in for a coffee on the go while passing through. Very nice little place. Good coffee and pleasant and friendly staff. I was also very impressed by the fact that it is obviously owned / managed by someone who has a christian faith and isn't afraid to let it be known. It wasn't forced on you but rather they had Gideon Bibles to give away on a stand inside the main door. Good for them for running the business as they see fit while promoting their faith as they should be allowed to do. 5 stars from me!!

What a lovely little cafe. Good range of options on the menu and at the counter; friendly staff; lots of natural light; nice decor with homely touches like wee sprays of flowers in glass bottles on the tables; well appointed restroom. I went for a toasted sandwich with cheese tomato and onion marmalade and enjoyed it - traditional square-sliced bread, not saturated with oil/butter, good quality ingredients. Also a slice of a light sponge cake layered with icing and lemon curd and decorated with scattered bits of berry and edible flowers, a perfectly imperfect little work of art. We were glad we stopped there.

Had a coffee and blueberry muffin. The muffin has delicious and the coffee was very good. Usually coffee is bitter to drink but this one was by far the best ever.
