Review Little King - Milford Nz - Milford

Bin Zhang
Wonderful customer service, coffee and wide range of delicious food. We ordered chef special fried chicken benedict, that was so yummy, french toast was amazing. The staffs are super friendly. Strongly recommand the iced berry tea. Lovely cafe. Definitely come back with friends!

Just beautiful - I had a coconut cappuccino with a mushroom dish that’s in the photo - sweet creamy bites with a crunchy potato pate just great! Friendly service double checked that I’m ok with the food as my coffee was vegan and the dish had an egg. Fast service, good supreme coffee and beautiful design inside the cafe, and they check the vaccination pass.

Decent spot for brunch on the shore, curly fries were a nice touch. Can't say the food was particularly memorable but was good place to catchup with friends on a wet weekend in Auckland.
Icy Guo
Very friendly staff, and cute place for a relaxed weekend brunch with friends. Plenty of parking off street close by. You get the standard breakfast/brunch menu, and they tastes as they should. Smoothie menu looks fun~ Got recommended the chai latte by the staff, good choice, not too strong for non-chai drinkers...

I've been here a few times now and it's been great everytime. Good coffee and delicious food. I'd recommend checking out their chef's special menu as there maybe good dishes there. I personally quite like the chicken egg benedict.

What a lovely place, fantastic menu and service, lovely staff, and the food and coffee was excellent. Great place for food and coffee before hit the beach.

Probably the best Eggs Benedict with salmon in the city (worth it to drive if you craving for it). For the last two years quality of coffee (long black) has been improved. 👍🏻
Vincent Wong
First of all, great great coffee with be specialty!! Secondly, food was great!! One of the best cafe experience ever had! Highly recommended!

Excellent service! We went for my daughter's 30th Birthday Lunch. They serviced a special birthday cake surprise. Good people & great food.
Lewis Ioane
My friend and I decided to go try the waffles here since we'd heard so much about them and pleased to say they were actually quite good! The staff were friendly and the food was well presented.

Airy little main-street cafe with lots of fun, quirky art and a chill vibe. Good food, good coffee and a quiet spot out back full of toys for wee ones. Had a small food mix-up but it was superbly handled by staff - a great experience overall!
John Cap
Quaint local cafe, the food was delicious and the ambience was very relaxing. The omelette ( with potatoes) was very good and felling.

Pretty decorations throughout the cafe & very cozy to stay & relax !!
Amelia Saxby
Such a good breakfast! Loved what I had and had food envy of what everyone else ordered too
Allen Chen
One of the best egg Benedict! And great coffee. Highly recommend

One of my all time favourite cafes. I have been coming here for years. I live in central Auckland now but still sometimes make the trek over to the North Shore to visit Little King. Definitely recommend booking a table in advance if you want to have breakfast here at the weekend - they’re very popular and busy!

Came here for a late morning brunch with a group of 6. We were seated quickly and staff were friendly. All the food was really well presented and looked really nice. The fried chicken eggs bene was fantastic, I especially loved the broccolini. Staff were helpful and catering for the vegans in our group and were able to make adjustments to the menu items easily enough. Would definitely recommend for an easy casual brunch.

Few words come to minds to describe the excellence of this establishment. They were overwhelmingly busy and understaffed; but still produced warm food in such a timely manner. The portions were beyond fair and flavour composition was divine. Thank you for such an amazing meal.
Vincent Wong
Great good with great coffee! Highly recommended!

Great service, great coffee, great vibes!

Not sure why I hadn’t been here before, but will definitely be back. Service was friendly & efficient, and food of good quality.
Coffee was nicely made. The brioche used for the French toast was so soft, and the fruit used was a good selection. The only gripe I have is the candy floss - I know this has been a trend but this dish had such a huge pile & it was perfect without it. I left it on the side though so all good.
Kevin Lowe
Excellent food, really enjoyed the Seafood Salad. Good service and seemed genuinely nice people. I’ll be back

Greasy table, Miserable staff, no service, not busy but took half an hour for the food to come out, lost it’s old charm, won’t return...
Rozie
Love the haloumi salad, would love to come back for it.
CocoOnFire
Surprisingly busy on a Sunday lunch, it was our first time here. Very nice coffee; icy chocolate is very impressive and my friend had it without cream.
Bacon & Banana with waffles is delicious my friend was full but still finished it. My Spinach Omelet is tasty matched with the caramelized onions.
We love it.
Pam Gaddi
I have been here twice and it didnt disappoint me. The coffee is great and the breakfast is really amazing! The location and ambience is perfect. Definitely a must try if you love breakfast and coffee plus you are a zomato gold member, what more can you ask for 😊
@C
Highly recommended. Superb food.

We made a long overdue revisit to the Little King cafe last weekend. The place was very busy but the service was efficient and, given that they were full, the meals came out reasonably quickly. The first time that we went (shortly after they first opened) they completely forgot our order so we left very unhappy, but we can safely say that they redeemed themselves this time. We went for the portobello mushroom and home-made hash stack, and the Belgian waffles. The mushrooms were wonderful and cooked in balsamic, accompanied by poached eggs, with quinoa hash cake and salad. The waffles were served with lemon mascarpone, raspberry compote, almond praline, whipped cream, and ice cream was very good, with the citric bite of the lemon mascarpone and the tartness of the compote providing a good contrast to the sweeter elements.

Overall a very good Cafe and worth a visit (or revisit).

I came to Little King Cafe for a brunch date after seeing it offers 1+1 food and the relatively high rating on Zomato. I ordered the scrambled eggs on ciabatta with bacon and my boyfriend got the best ugly bagels (salmon) and a cappuccino. While the service was good, the waitress didn't see our number, which resulted in my boyfriend's cappuccino being delivered late. In my opinion, the scrambled eggs were good but after finishing my meal, I noticed that the plate was extremely greasy from the scrambled eggs (I ordered bacon as well, which I did expect grease but not a lot from the eggs). Most brunch places scrambled eggs aren't very greasy so I was pretty disappointed. Otherwise, the meal was good but I would not drive all the way to The Shore and come here again.
Rebecca
First time coming here for a while. The food was just as good as I remember and service was very fast and great! Lovely atmosphere and amazing value with Zomato Gold
Janet
Food quality dropped since the last time we came here, it used to be large portion now it decreased by a lot, also service wasn’t polite enough.
Lukas Albiston-Murray
Fast service, very nice food. We had the open chicken sandwich, and the mince and hash. Both very good.
Maddy Coppins
Amazing food, service and the restaurant was lovely. Good location too
Alice
First time visiting Little King Cafe. The service was amazing and food were great (slightly blend but still delicious overall). Thank you for the wondeful experience.

We saw this place by accident when one time we are looking for some gift in the nearby Milford Mall. Initially we thought of having some Japanese for lunch but saw this Cafe filled with people and that’s what caught our attention. After having a nosy of what’s inside we decided to have our lunch here and we were seated in less than 15 minutes. The environment is great, filled with young families and smiling staff. First thing you will notice here are the wall art which I really loved, the chairs are all different with each other and there is a huge wooden table in the middle. Everything there have this rustic French feel, I feel like I was transformed into a different location.
Xia Wu
I think this place was quite good, the staff were very nice and the food was great. I felt well welcomed to the place. I have been here for 4 times and every time I was never disappointed.
Nan Jiang
Staffs are super friendly even they were always busy, food are amazing, we order chicken salad and bacon waffle are really tasty, definitely come back with friends
Rebecca Patterson
Have been here twice and both times the service has been so average. Staff look at us and ignore us and we have had to go up and ask for menus and to order. Waited 50 minutes for food and the place was half empty!
Cookie Monster
Waffles was way too hard for eating, egg benedicts are good, salmon are fresh, chicken sandwich also ok, attentive staff with more smile would be great!
Sophie Wang
We came here on zomato gold ordering smash avo with salmon, creamy mushroom with bacon, soy latte and a flat white. Needless to say, the portions were massive and delicious. Ingredients were fresh. Service was quick despite how busy they were.
Louise
I have not been here in the longest time, it used to be one of my go-to cafes a good 3 years ago. But after I saw them on Zomato Gold, I thought I'd give them another try.

I got the Chef Special - Fried Chicken on a Hashbrown and I wish this was permanently on the menu bc it was really good! We also got the Belgium waffles which were nicely done as well - really enjoyed the lemon-y cream on the side! The Caveman was also like a slightly fancier version of the Big Breakfast but with Chicken instead! I got a Mocha too and it was very sweet, unlike normal Mochas!

The service was good, the staff cater the cafe for small children - with a section in the back for kids to play in and also as soon as we sat down the kids were given a colouring sheet and crayons. - I wish they had given colouring pencils instead because the crayons get quite messy for children's hands and it smears onto the tables too and makes the tables dirty.

I think this place is really wortth it for its price and would definitely come back here again!
Cindy Zhang
Recommend chef's special and coffee!!!!!
One of the most delicious coffee in Akl.
Chicken is combined with Western cooking and Asian cooking. Very popular cuisine - Asian Fusion.
And the portions of food are bigger than other cafes.
Comfortable environment with friendly staffs.
Lizzie
Always been one of my favourite cafes & hadn’t been here for years. It didn’t disappoint! Had the creamy balsamic mushrooms and it was delicious! So flavoursome and just enough creaminess. Also tried the carrot cake and they was divine!! Yum!
Trin
Food: 5/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 5/5

This is a perfect wee Sunday brunch spot! Love their chocolate waffles!

This place is always busy on the weekend so I tend to go early or later in the afternoon. Definitely recommend!
Anona Pak
French toast is delicious!!
Good value and large portion. Large variety of food on its menu :)
Cafe staff are warm, friendly and very welcoming.
Minsoo Lee
Service was the weakest feature of Little King Cafe. The food was good however, the staff wasn’t too friendly. When we asked to move to a table that needed to be cleared, they cleared the table and gave it to customers who just walked in. The person we asked to move was the one who sat the new customers down at the table. Ruined the food experience for me :(
Vivian C
I ordered the Mince 'N' Hash and my mum ordered the Portobello Mushroom & House Made Hash Stack.

I absolutely loved my dish, the mince was great, the hash stack was delicious and perfect for me as I am an avid potato lover.

My mum also enjoyed her dish but found that there was a bit too much mesclun salad, and would have preferred that there was more mushroom instead as that was the title of the dish.

Overall the food was great and I would have been eager to give the cafe 5 stars if the service was better. We walked in and was quite confused as to whether we were to be seated first or go up to the counter first. The server was not very friendly or welcoming and I didn’t even get a “thank you” after I had gone up to pay. She wasn’t very attentive throughout our time spent at the cafe, and I just felt like she didn’t particularly care for us as customers.

Also found it quite shocking that a lot of the items on the menu required you to add on condiments with an additional cost, that I would assume were already part of the dish. E.g $4 for curly fries with the Open Chicken Sandwich, $3 for banana and $5.50 for bacon with the French Toast. (I understand that many cafes state that bacon is to be added on at a cost but I thought banana was pretty much a requirement for french toast.)
Zeth
Probably the best cafe on the shore. Such a little gem. Crispy chicken benny was divine. They make such great coffee too. Nothing better to start my day with.
Dee
Really nice place hanging out for brunch. Food was delicious and coffee was mellow. The caveman was a little bit too much for me but taste wise was good. Food combination there is also quite healthy.
Kid0f88
Absolutely my favorite cafe at the moment, always consistent in quality and service is great. Nice comfortable location with plenty of seating options, it has been our preferred Saturday morning brunch spot for the past few months.
Kate White
Went here on a busy Sunday morning for brunch. Ordered the eggs Benedict, one salmon and one bacon. Service was great and the staff were really friendly. Salmon Benedict was full of flavour and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Bacon Benedict was cooked to perfection with a crunchy hash brown. Coffee was great too. Would highly recommend this place!
Jarrod Dickinson
Nice little cafe in Milford. Staff were very friendly and the food was great. We had the portobello mushrooms and the fried chicken eggs bene and they were both delicious. Good spot for brekkie!
Belinda
Small and cute space for a first date or girls catch-up. Delicious coffee! Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Our go-to brunch on the Shore! Chefs special is always good and never disappoints!
Beautifullifevivi
Very delicious and fabulous food especially the pumpkin soup. Child friendly and enough space for bounch of people enjoy the happy time there. Will be there again.
Pan Steven
Great coffee, very very large portion of breakfast. Must give a thumb up to the mushrooms, juicy and tasty. However I still think should add hash brown to it.
Amy Lee
Delicious food, we had the creamy mushroom on toast which was really good as well as the caveman's breakfast which is good for someone who likes a big breakfast! Big portions, lovely staff and with essentially 50% using zomato gold it is definitely now my go to brunch place 😊
Matt Jones
The standards are really high. Good variety on the menu with every meal as good as described. Back to original form with great, attentive staff
Ida Tang
I have been to Little King a few times and have always loved this place until today. The food and drinks wasn’t bad, I felt like the English muffin was more like a burger bun rather than a muffin, but still, I didn’t mind it. It’s more with service which disappointed me, staff was not friendly and I can clearly see that they don’t want to be there on a public holiday. I was rather disappointed.
Poppy
The food is delicious and the service is great! Staff are very friendly and there's a nice atmosphere. I got the open chicken sandwich, which is well priced for what you get.
Katie McKinney
Awesome cafe! Love the petite eggs bene, crispy hash brown & just the right portion size if you don’t want to be overly full. Great service, friendly and fast at taking your order and serving food. We have been back multiple times, a definite favourite and very consistent!
Cherry Qian
Been to the little king cafe while caught up with friends. I ordered the avocado smash on 5 grain loaf with smoked salmon. The salmon was too salty and the loaf tasted more like biscuit which was a bit weird
Shaun Ross
Lovely atmosphere in the heart of Milford. Very quick service. Coffee was excellent and food was tasty. It was a pleasant way to start the day!

Recently visited specifically for waffles and to make use of our Zomato gold membership. Makes dining out so much more affordable! We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t all that busy with plenty of seats to choose from. The waffles were great and were just what we wanted. Have rated it a 4 because after being seated and given a menu we were waiting for a while to have our order taken (despite it not being busy at the time as there were only a couple others who already had their food) and ended up having to go up to the waitress/counter to ask if we could have our order taken. Overall we were happy with our meal and would like to go back to try other things on their menu as well.
Kyle Svensen
I think if little king cared about their coffee and much as they did their food they would have a 5 star from me. Bene amazing as always. Thanks guys
Cassy Strydom
Friendly staff, short wait for food, delicious meals and lovely ambience! We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Portobello Mushrooms! Yum yum!!!!
Romana Petrie
The service was great, the staff were friendly and attentive.

Everything came really quickly which was good, and the food was really good. We had a range of food in our group of four and everyone was really happy. I got the creamy mushrooms, but removed the bacon and found that it was missing a bit of flavour (but am pretty sure that wouldn't be the case with bacon), but everyone else's food was so good, I won't let that stop me from going back.

It's a really cute little cafe with a play area for young children too!
Jesslu2108
Overall experience was fine and we also used Zomato gold which there was no problems :)
Only downside to the experience was the service.. we seated ourselves and didn’t get menus until much later. Had to ask for water twice and also cutlery. What was slightly annoying was people around us were getting the service. Food was yum
Jacynda Darmawan
Lovely brunch place!

I came here during the easter holiday and there was no surcharge, which was good! Their food was amazing. The salmon on the egg benedict was fresh, the hollandaise sauce was subtle yet delicious. The creamy mushroom was super flavorfull. Pairs amazingly with the ciabatta.
Reasonable price for the portion that we get.

Would definitely come back.
SS
We both had 'The Caveman' which was their version of a standard cafe big breakfast. The dishes were presented beautifully but tastewise it was a little bland. The mushrooms were probably the best part of the dish and the chicken being our least favourite.

I'd say the food is fairly priced, but the drinks were def overpriced.. $7 for a fairly small pear juice (with quite a lot of ice) is a little OTT. They are a Gold restuarant so we paid $40~ for our meal which was good, but wouldn't likely return if we had to pay full price.
Bin Zhang
Wonderful customer service, coffee and wide range of delicious foods. We ordered chef special fried chicken benedict, that was so yummy, and the french toast was amazing. The staffs are super friendly. Strongly recommand the iced berry tea. Lovely cafe. Definitely come back with friends!
Catherine
Been going back here for the best bacon eggs benedict in town. The crispy chicken eggs benedict didn’t disappoint as well and the sun dried tomato pesto with it was just the perfect little accompaniment to it. The order came nearly half an hour from the kitchen but it was very busy to be fair. Can’t complain about food quality though and using our gold benefit made it an overall pleasant and very positive Sunday brunch.
Yessika Aditya
I ordered the caveman, Angus beef burger and 2 coffees. The burger was nice and it comes with crispy chips as well. The caveman was okay, nothing really special. The coffee has a beautiful latte art, but apparently the flatwhite was a bit burn. Overall still had a good experience, the staff also friendly and welcomed.
Karina
Popped in for an iced mocha one day and have to say I was quite disappointed. The presentation was cute - came in a mason jar with a big straw but the top was full of foam which seemed unnecessary and the taste was very bitter and I couldn't taste any chocolate as iced mochas usually contain chocolate and the person I was with ordered a latte and they said it tasted like the coffee beans had been burnt. Latte came out way before and had to wait ages for my iced mocha - to the point where my friend had already finished her latte and I had only been served my iced mocha 10 minutes after she was done. Can only speak regarding the coffees though so maybe will have to come back and give the food a try.

This was my first visit here and I couldn't have been more impressed with the staff and service! Our server was super helpful and accommodating, he even suggested an ingredient swap as the Cajun chicken would've been to spicy for me.

Every aspect of my meal was delicious, even down to perfectly ripe avo. My mum got the creamy mushroom dish, she also loved her meal and thought the serving size was extremely generous (as did I). I'll definitely be back to try more of menu.

Also just thought I'd mention that the atmosphere and decor is lovely and quaint (and their kitchen is open till 3pm everyday which is great for late eaters like me).
Annie Low
Scrumptious. Nice ambience and food! First time here and I’m so surprised as they have really delicious food. Coffee was legit too!!! Definitely worth the money. Great deals for Zomato Gold members!

Went with my 4 fam members and ordered the french toast ,the caveman, & eggs Benedict. The salmon that comes with the benedict was so fresh. So good. Hollandaise sauce was perfect too. Highly recommend their big breakfast, the caveman, loving the grilled chicken breast in the caveman! It was heavenly GOOD!!! Will be back next time!
Elva
Been here for a few times , no surprise every time the food tastes great , nice service, nice food and great drinks ! Gold member got great deals !
Leslie Tan
Fantastic spot for brunch. Definitely coming back for another visit. The eggs benny is one of the best I've had. Ordered with a side of button mushrooms which were delicious.
Irene Calip
Came here with my mil for regular Saturday brunch. Service is good, foods are awesome. Reasonable price with a good portion. We have ordered egg bene with bacon & creamy balsamic mushroom. Both taste good!
Food For Life
Waffle just average nothing special but will be back to try the other menu as i heard good reviews about this place so will give another shot.
Jessi Clancey-Peetz
Little King Cafe never disappoints! I have been multiple times and tried different things and they are always so delicious. Good service and cute atmosphere. I love that they have a petite size Eggs Benedict!!
Dael Mckimmie
It has been 2 years or more since last dining in for brunch here! And still oh so good :) I always fall for the beef burger.. idk just cos it pretty darn good! Soon to be wife had best ugly bagels.. standard meal for brunch. Always enjoy coming here for the food. If we are using Zomato for what it is, 3 stars because I just didn't feel a welcoming vibe I guess. I always love a coffee first thing but wasnt asked till we had food order taken.. petty I know but.. coffee. Teeny amounts of avocado, sad face. Tad loud and distracting. Just acoustics I guess.
KING
Popped in after a long time visit for late lunch. Service was good. The food was good. Layout of food was good. Ambience was good. OVERALL - Great! Chill vibes - on a relaxing sunny day. Shall be back!
Ben K
Discovered this place via Zomato. It's got a great vibe. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon and Bacon and caramelised banana waffle. They were awesome. Hope to be back soon.
Sue Liu
Great rustic cafe in milford, food is really nice. Recommend their six barrel soda, and bagel with salmons .This is the second time I have been this place, and realized they are Zomato Gold partner, join the member, no doubt. Good bargain .
Vivek Sambamurthi
Tasty food and a family friendly place. Kids loved the play area. Ambience and service is commendable. Best ugly Bagel is the bomb. The only downside is poor WiFi connectivity.
Febio Wendiady
Great rustic cafe in Milford, North Shore! Rustic charm, friendly service, good coffee and awesome food. It's always been my top pick when I'm craving for good weekend brunch!. so glad to know that they are one of Zomato Gold partners!
LuNa The TuNa
Kids friendly cafe! environment is quite nice!foods were all pretty and delicious, staffs super friendly and helpful, kids play area has many toys which is pretty good for parents to have a quite relax brunch
Sarah Jo
We had breakfast here today and loved the food and service :) this place is kid friendly as well so perfect for families with little children. My toddler enjoyed playing in the kids area at the back of the cafe.
Janec
This cafe used to be one of the best in Milford. We went back recently and noticed the quality no longer meets its fame. Staff didn’t smile once when they were taking orders or when serving food which really put us off. Food was okay
Aashish Verma
We tried the Halloumi Bagel along with the Portobello mushroom, and both of them were simply amazing. Definitely coming back again. Great vegetarian options. 😊
Tarun Parmar
Beautiful cafe that serves the best coffees in auckland. Highly recommend to visit. Really good breakfast menu must try the caveman meal it covers everything. If you are after a big breakfast.
Mya S
The service was immaculate. I ordered the Kumara & Courgette Rosti which was delicious, and also asked for beetroot chutney which was quickly bought over without question.
Jen Knox
Waffles were okay, however too sweet itself and topped up with a syrup it was as if I was eating a 100% sugary sugar. And they are nothing to do with real Belgian or Vienna waffles, don’t expect it to be.
Sissi
New favorite at Milford.
A cozy place for spend the morning coffee time in working days.
Looking forward to have brunch here on Saturday.
Hah~
Helenmarlow14
Great service, great food and totally kids friendly! Nice place to catch up with friends and family! Love their coffee and bagels! Best in Milford!
Adam Zhu
Great place to have a catch up with friends. Love their food and coffee always. Salmon Ugly Bagle + Caramel Flat white. YUMMM , great service too. Recommend A+++
Tony Ma
Friendly staff, quick kitchen.

The food was prepped quickly and the salmon Benedict was delicious.

Mince on hash had some frozen peas which should be removed and substituted by fresh chives or mince cooked with onions and peppers for taste.

Overall a great experience and will be back when I’m in the area again.

Service: 5/5
Food Quality: 4/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Environment: 4/5
Presentation: 4.5/5
Price per person: $20-$25

We went here completely by accidentally and absolutely loved the chilled vibe and cool decor. Food wasn't bad either, wasn't a huge fan of the freedom loaf, but my partner loved his meal. The second time we went, was able to swap bread and it was amazing!! Staff were lovely and knew the menu so it was worth it.
Edwin Jin
Definitely one of my favorite cafes in AKL. Awesome food and nice coffe there. Friendly staff. Love the sweet pancake with nice presentation. Will be back later.
Siyang Wang
great mince on rosti and excellent fresh juice.the best waffles we' ve ever tasted this year. friendly staff making us feel welcome.definitely be back to try out more of the menu.
Teri Fong
I ordered the Organic Free Range Chicken Salad for $18.50 today and was sadly disappointed. The salad didn’t come with a dressing which made it dry and unpleasant (felt like I was eating a bag of supermarket greens). The chicken in the salad was completely devoid of flavour or seasoning, and some bits of chicken had their rubbery/slimy skin still attached to it and left an awful after taste. There were also whole pieces of raw pecan mixed with the chicken which didn’t make any sense and did not add any value to the dish. Overall, an unpleasant and underwhelming dish, not even worth $5 let alone $18.50. Partner ordered the bacon and banana waffles, it was fine but extremely mediocre. Not worth it.
Anna Griffin
Good place to come with your child, there is a little kids enclosure with lots of toys. Didn’t have any food from the menu but tried their cheese scone and it was one of the best ones ever! And a really good coffee too
Razvan Gradinaru
You paying $15 for what they called Belgium Waffle’s but they are actually supermarket microwaved ones - rest of food ok. You will expect for that price to put a bit more work into it - OWNER TIP get a $10 waffle maker from Briscoe’s and you will cook better ones
Dxlche
Came here for a late lunch just before their kitchen closed. We ordered the mince n hash and the eggs Benedict with bacon and hash browns. We also ordered two drinks to go with it. Our dreams came after our dishes which was a bit weird.
The food on the other hand, was absolutely amazing. It was extremely filling and well worth the price, not to mention delicious.
The flavours of both of the dishes were on point and I definitely had one of the best eggs Benedict that day.
The drinks were average though, the amount of coffee in each were inconsistent to their drinks types.
Will be back to try more of their food.
Jonathan Bangera
The ambience of this place will keep bringing you back every single morning for a cup of coffee or a decent brunch. The food is no doubt delish,by the plating is what caught my attention. They also combine uncommon flavors bringing a delightful twist for your eyes and mouth. The coffee is just average in my opinion.
Hannah.milne11
Cute and quaint cafe, it looks small from the outside but is deceiving large once you’re inside. I ordered the portobello mushrooms with their homemade hash brown with quinoa and it was phenomenal! I was full to the brim afterwards, each bite I took had so many yummy flavours and textures. Definitely good value for money, will 100% be back.
Andrew King
Ate here on Saturday for breakfast.
Service was good.
Food is very average and over priced for what it is.
Found the kids breakfast very greasy( deep fryed) with spicy sausage, too hot to serve for kids.
Hash cakes with quinoa were really greasy also (deep fryed). We didn't really like the garnish of bruised mesculin on the breakfasts we ordered.
The place is really quite filthy especially up by the play area for kids, really dirty floors, tables and chairs and a filthy taped double power point in the toddler play pen, what a joke.
You guys need to step up your game it was pretty poor, food and cleanliness.

Cheyenne T
Little king never fails to provide the most consistent , delicious 11/10 meals that I've ever received at a cafe. The Eggs Benedict is unbeatable and the presentation is mouth watering. The avocado smash is also the best I've tried in Auckland; portion wise, taste & presentation; I like to get it on the 5 grain as opposed to the "freedom loaf GF option". Awesome work chefs and team, and the environment you provide is outstanding and relaxing. Also, the kids zone is a fab idea for parents and children, and something you don't find often. Thanks guys!
E.louisegibson93
Great Avo on Toast!! Very unique and tasty!! Coffee was very delightful too. My friends and I like to venture here after a walk on Milford beach
Brooklyn
Little King Cafe. After walking around Milford looking for a spot for brunch, settled on this little spot here. Not too busy at around 2:30pm on a Thursday so service was very quick! I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon which came with lovely, thick hash browns (yes please!) and perfectly cooked runny eggs 👌🏽. B ordered the creamy chicken and mushroom pie, with a banana walnut loaf; both from the cabinet. The pie came with a side of salad and tasted delicious, plenty of flavour, was definitely creamy too. I thought it wasn’t hot enough though and tend to be cautious about cabinet chicken if it’s not hot enough! B doesn’t seem to mind though, he loved it! The walnut banana loaf had a texture that tasted like it was undercooked to me and had a heavy flavour of baking powder which I would think is due to using self raising flour? B enjoyed it, so it may be worth a shot. The decor was very detailed with old school chairs, cool light fittings, awesome decals on the walls and patterned cushions. This place was great overall and we will be back to try more!

Cafe - vibrant with life.
Staff - freindly + helpful.
2 Ice coffee - the triple shot of espresso was too strong for me keeping my nerve tension high for more than 24 hrs. I wanted more sweetness in it, but my grandma liked it and was alright to sleep snoring that night. The way of caffeine kicks in is different from person to person 😅
1 Roasted chicken panini - I wish there was more green in it.
1 Baked cheesecake - not much cheese flavour in it.
1 Cream doughnut - reveived a good rate from my other family members including me.
Total bill = $31

My new favourite cafe.

Little King Cafe is the epitome of cafes. The food we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious. The quality and quantity of food is well worth your money.

Service was impeccable. Pleasant, prompt and polite. The people there were very lovely and patient. Even though the place was very busy, we were looked after well. The hum of the busy cafe contributed to its cosy and friendly atmosphere.

Seating arrangement is convenient and far away enough from other visitors to feel separated, allowing us to privately converse and eat. Extremely clean eating areas and bathroom. Also the decor of this cafe is unique and wonderful.

Recommendations: can't go wrong with choosing a salad or sandwich!

Update on review (2 years later):
Not sure if it's because of Little King reopening after lockdown, but I felt like it had lost its spark and had less customers than usual. The atmosphere was quite empty and the lighting in the cafe was a bit dark and felt slightly unwelcoming. The food (organic chicken salad) still tasted very yummy, but the portion felt a bit smaller considering its price.

One of my favorite cafes. Great coffee. fantastic food. Nice staff. Love the eggs Benedict and they have the best muffins ever. Highly recommended.
Sheryn Walker
The cafe was so cute and the staff were really nice and friendly. This is the second time I’ve been and the food is just as good as I remember it being! I had the belgium waffles and the iced chocolate and my friend had the angus beef burger and all were amazing! The presentation was beautiful too. We went at about 11am so it wasn’t too busy but it gets quite crowded around midday so I’d recommend booking in advance for a larger group of people as it gets packed really quickly.

Came here for my birthday brunch with 10 people on a Sunday morning. It was very busy and took a while to get water glasses onto the table, drinks arrived before water. Food was amazing and worth the wait. One of my favourite places on the north shore
Carol
Dropped in for a takeaway coffee, will never go back could not taste the coffee. A total waste of money but I should have realised this when I saw the lady weighing the coffee grounds.
Tabby De Guzman
The decor of the place is quite nice but yet simple.
Taste and flavour of the food are quite amazing - they have the best hash browns.
We normally order eggs bene, creamy balsamic mushrooms and waffles. In my opinion the pricing of the food isn’t too bad, just normal cafe pricing.

However, on our recent visit I noticed the creamy mushrooms tasted different, it lacked taste but it was still good, just not as good as the last time.
Also, we found that the service isn’t as good anymore - we were given our menus but no one came to take our order so we had to order on the counter.
Lucyeatsakld
Came at peak brunch time on a Sunday but was seated promptly and our orders were taken relatively quickly. I got the portobello mushrooms with hash brown - such a huge portion compared to what you'd get for the same price from other cafes! Two poached eggs plus a giant hash brown and I had extra bacon added on the side. The salted caramel almond smoothie was good, nothing special but really thick and satisfyingly cold. Will be back to try the cabinet goodies.

We are a regular at this popular cafe. They are always busy which is a good sign. Always great service & the food comes out pretty quickly. Coffee is always on point too. Best cafe on the shore in my opinion
Briar McGlynn
This much talked about cafe did live up to my eggspectations, really hitting all the marks of a good eggs benedict. The base was a well toasted english muffin, something that is very uncommon with this particular base. The hash brown was exactly what you would want, extremely crispy and big enough to last the whole whole meal. The bacon was well cooked and plentiful, the eggs were runny and free range which equated to a pricier meal, but something I am happy to pay more to ensure. The hollandaise has a very slight citrus note and there was a good ratio of it to the rest of the meal. All these elements were successful but I couldn't help but think there could have been a small addition of something to counteract the richness of the dish, perhaps a zingy pesto or a beetroot puree to ground the flavours and not leave you feeling so overwhelmed.

My iced chocolate was pleasant, I thought it was a fair price for it but it wasn't particularly memorable.

My eating companion ordered the bacon and caramelised banana waffles with a scoop of ice cream. They thought it was a very sweet dish, in a good way. The only criticism was that it came out rather cold.
Bambi
Nice place for a good breakfast/lunch. Food and coffee is reasonably consistent in terms of quality and flavours. Can get quite busy sometimes and noticed staffs service standards dropping a little (we had no one greeting, giving us menu or asking if we wanted to order food for over 10 mins on one occasion!!!), but overall a nice cafe.
Rani
Definitely my go to place for breakfast. Great food and drinks and quick service too. The only downside is that it is always really busy. Definitely a favourite!!

I love this cafe and it used to be one of my go-Tos until I got IBS. Their menu doesn't quite suit my picky food intolerance but I wanted to try anyway. I ordered the smashed Avo on GF bread. The avo smash was too spicy and had a strange taste to it - a spice or herb maybe that I disliked. The amount of bread I was given was tiny and there was far too much avo on the plate. I also got the berry smoothie which was delicious, but the food failed to match the expectation.
Previously, I've had their bagels, and other delish options and it's been outstanding. The service is always on point and I think they're well priced.

Love Little King! Always tend to go for the smashed avo on toast with kale chips however they also have quite a selection of waffles! Definitely recommend for brunch although it can get very busy and pricey sometimes but it is decorated very well inside and service is great! ☀️
Rena
it was a nice afternoon spending here. Awesome environment , feel free to catch up with friends, read books. Marked, I will be back again try some desserts next time

The guy who served us was very friendly and helpful, meals came out in good time. Ordered the eggs Benedict which came with bacon, hash brown and spinach but waiter was happy to swap out spinach for tomato which is good. Hash browns were just store bought and the tomatoes just sliced and cold... would have been nice if they made the hash and did something with the tomatoes. Eggs were cooked perfect and hollandaise was good too. Apple, pear and ginger juice was nice. Would probably go back if in the area but not for a special trip.
Timothy Pozon
Had a bacon Bene and a coffee here today , atmosphere was good fast service could do with a little ambient music to add to the aesthetic. Coffee was great one of the best I've had on the shore, clean tasting coffee; extracted well. Bene was good just had one over cooked poached egg , otherwise would recommend if you're around Milford
Feiran An
Went there last month with my friends. The food and drinks are amazing. The service is superb and friendly, very recommend if you are local or nearby.

nice food and friendly staffs ,really like the bagel
tastes very toughness .as the last breakfast for the last day of my 27, it's a amazing try for the bagel .my partner have the egg bene ,the Crispy hash brown
and the soft bread inside the bene .For the salmon lox,it looks very nice than others.

Was fabulous had such an amazing salad and was a really nice place to have lunch even tho me and my friend were there for 3hours having a catch up!!
Kim Cornelius
Was very quite for a Wednesday late morning which I found fantastic as normally it's very loud. Staff where very prompt and has menu before is even sat down.

Coffee was strong and hot just wanted I wanted.

Ordered the Belgium waffles which I'd never had before, they arrived and were good. Little bit too much ice cream for winter/not a fan of it. But otherwise good
Meghan
What a lovely little spot to stop for a coffee. Little King Café has such a great atmosphere with friendly staff. There is a play area at the back for kids which is a bonus.
Ordered a coffee, hot chocolate, double chocolate waffles and choc caramel slice. Coffee, hot choc and choc caramel slice were good. The double chocolate waffles were amazing!! Would definitely go back for the waffles. Price wasnt too bad (i have seen similar at other café's for a lot more).

I haven't had waffles in so long and this is a good way to have some again 😍 this a cute little cafe that I've been wanting to try for a while, And I'm not disappointed. Sad that I was too full to try their Green tea cake. I'll back for that 8)

It was my first time to visit Little King cafe the other day. We came in for a quick weekday brunch. The place was so cute! I really like the murals on the wall.

We were seated quickly and was our order was taken fairly promptly. We ordered our coffees and I ordered the mince with extra bacon on the side. I was surprised with the generous portions. I couldn't finish the food... they do great coffee, and I like that they offer palm sugar for the table. And the mince was super tasty! I do find it a little oily, but that is not a biggie.

The staffs were friendly and accomodating, the food and coffee were served promptly. I love love this place! Can't wait to come back to try their waffles!!!
Yoana S
Roana Bilia
Lot bigger and better and nicer than expected. The mince was by far the best dish. The smoothies and drinks were all really tasty. Little on the expensive side.
Jemima
Been to little on weekend want that busy so find my self a table no one offered me drinks menu just had food menu.
finally got some one to take my order as staff was hanging around.
But the main disappointment was such a long wait for a average meal eggs beni with rosti but wasnt cooked well and my parnter smash avo was so tinny for the price you pay.Really disappointed since the management has changed.

Little King Cafe is defiantly Milford's best cafe!

After the gym i seem to hit the King up for a feed!

I had the sourdough bread, scrambled eggs, salmon and avo - All puker!

The coffee today was exceptionally bloody good.
Fabio Oliveira
I guess I tried on a bad day. My first option was the bagel. "No bagels today, sorry about that!" Ok, I choose the Caveman. Dried chicken. Overcooked, seems it has been microwaved, so chewy. The steady bacon 2 slices of fat. Scrambled eggs oily. Not sure....am I being picky? For $23 dollars I expected more. The windows look disgusting..... like. It not hard to clean windows. The coffee was good.
Benjamin Alexander
We sat down for lunch ordering 'twice cooked pork belly burger' and 'Turkish chicken'. The pork belly was clearly not twice cooked or even braised for that matter. Chewy, undercooked and inedible. The chicken was just a burnt leg with canned chickpeas, raw red onion and capsicum. Absolutely no seasoning at all! Both being priced at over $20. Never again.
Sarah Harvey
come quite often, majority of staff are attentive but some distant and not all there felt like talking to a brick wall. one of the staff members seems to always mess up my order and few of the young girls spend more time gossiping then doing their job.
Titeuf
My favourite cafe to come to on the weekends. I really like the design and layout, it's very unique and works well for such a busy cafe. The food is always great, with a special mention to their waffles. Presentation is also very good and Insta-worthy :p
Quokkoala
Coffee is excellent here, though the noise can be a bit much.

Had a special anniversary meal with my partner last year and had the creamy mushrooms. Very tasty. We came here again this year and the menu had changed. My partner had the creamy mushrooms but it was overpoweringly garlicky! I could smell the garlic in the car on the way home!

The waffles were on point, though.

As an update: 13/05/2017 we came here for waffles. The Belgium waffles were light, fluffy and had the flavours of the rhubarb jam, lemon mascarpone and vanilla ice cream complemented each other well.
My partner had the double chocolate waffles and while now she is lying on the floor in chocolate overload, enjoyed them!
Her hot chocolate was apparently a bit watery but my iced mocha was very tasty.
NickC
Me and my partner went there yesterday for our anniversary brunch after hearing so many good reviews from friends. It was busy at the time, and took us about 5 minutes to get a table. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food served was quick and Delish. Definitely will come back.
Will
Came to Little King today with my partner, we ordered the caveman and banana waffle. The food was amazing and service was good and quick. We will definitely come back to try the other food on the menu. Happy to see such a good cafe in Milford. Well done Little King!
Gabriel Tan
came in for breakfast, was not too crowded initially. ordered the breakfast chili, which i thought was a weird choice for breakfast, and a mocha. Food turned out great, coffee was good too. great food, great coffee, great staff :-)
Gabriel Sheng
Little King Cafe has always been my favourite chill out place. The deco is earthy and original; the food is amazingly presented and never disappointed me. It's a great place to hang with friends or just sit there by yourself to chillex. I would recommend Little Kind Cafe as it provides exceptionally good food in a pleasant, ambient atmosphere.
Sophie
Sadly little king seems to go downhill far too often! Coffee is great but portion sizes for the prices are crazy and the food is often very bland. Tables always sticky although staff are always lovely
Jazmin Lee
Second time coming here for lunch, super hungry and the portion sizes disappointed me. The decor and atmosphere is beautiful but honestly paying $17 for smashed avocado is a rip off. There's the same atmosphere and vibe to another cafe in Albany with the smash avo for $13 with bigger portion sizes. I think this cafe is overrated and overpriced. Disappointed I fell victim. I'm 5'1, I'm a small girl; if this dish didn't fill me up then there is a problem with serving portions. The taste was good but nothing special.
Aiden
First time being here.

Trim latté is superb. I like the fruity smell of the beans. Egg Benedict however, is on a par with other café - which means it's not a must have.
I'm Hungry
Had coffee and bites here this morning. Lived up to its ratings. Lovely cafe with simple nice decor, lots of seating, great staff, super quick service and loved the coffee. My cuppa was strong and bacon tomato muffin fresh. There is ramp for wheelchairs and prams, that is just so thoughtful.
Jessica
Love coming here if I'm craving waffles in particular for breakfast. My personal favourite is the double chocolate. But I've also tired the banana walnut waffle, eggs bene and hallomi bagel. Which are all yummy. It's in a handy location, easy to find parking in the Milford area. Staff are always lovely and plenty of seats but it can also get super busy on peak trading times like breakfast/lunch. Would defiantly recommended to anyone who loves waffles mostly but also just wants a nice breakfast out on the North Shore.
Cecilia Wu
Food was nice here, always packed on weekend brunch time, due to its table setting it made it difficult to share a conversation with friends, as it s really noise and five of us sat on the far corner of the large wooden table in the middle.
Greg Brown
Great to have this sort of industrial style cafe in Milford. Always packed and I thoroughly enjoy locations that pump. However, it is heavily overpriced. The smoothies are nice with the quirk of being served in a glass jar. The new opening of Bread and Butter just a couple doors down has started a competitive competition
Ashleigh Burgess
Great food - options for everyone. I had the paleo platter and I have to say the kale chips were impressive. No soggy like you'd usually expect with most places who serve them! I really liked the chicken addition in the breakfast, not something I'd usually have. Great coffee (even though I order decaf) would love their gf bread recipe tbh!

My partner is still raving about their mince on hash, apparently the hash is to die for and the mince is full of flavor!

Only downfall is it is a busy little place, and it's loud, don't expect to have a decent conversation here. Not their fault at all, good on them for being so busy, shows they're really good at what they do!

Really enjoyed our visit and will go back next time we are in the area
Bella Bycroft
Crap service, grumpy blonde waitress served me and rudely spilt our coffee all over the table. Great waffles?? More like blue waffles they were disgusting and cold. When we complained they didn't even offer us a refund, we will not be coming back.. very disappointing.
Lucy Fitzgerald
I had lunch here yesterday and was not overly impressed. Whilist the order came exactly as I asked the hash brown which stated on the menu as homemade was most definitely not! The tea when served was luke warm and the lemon cake tasted stale. Full marks though for a lovely setting and the staff were friendly but I would not be in a hurry to return.
DontScrewWihMaFood
This is a interesting cafe that lives up to the name of 'Little king'. Incapable at management. But lots of naive people are happy to oblige and show patronage
I am absolutely DONE with little Kings quick decline in service from 2015 to today where it has just sunk to the ground with tables covered in real estate flyers. I think the next door real estate agents sponsor it now because they make you spend hours waiting for food while reading how some guy is now able to sell your house.
Anyways, the food is quite sour. There are some good staff who can be proud of Themsleves but management needs to take a good look in the mirror
Chelsea
I am so disappointed I have to leave this review but Little King sadly didn't live up to my expectations. I've been wanting to go for years as I've had several friends work there and every man and his dog seems to have visited it at some point, so perhaps my high expectations contributed to my disappointment. I had the eggs benedict with "old-style" hashbrowns and was so let down to have two triangle frozen hash browns delivered. I think it's pretty standard for high-class, expensive cafes these days to deliver something a bit flasher with their eggs benedict. There was also a hair in my dish, but it was tended to very quickly and professionally. I probably won't be back, but might have my arm twisted to try the waffles.
Philip Doyle
This little cafe tucked away in the heart of Milford is definitely worth a visit, is quite a busy place and despite that we received good service and the wait wasn't bad. I had the fish finger sandwich which was scrumptious and a fresh apple juice which was great. The place has a very fresh and funky style, only downside was it is quite noisy with all the people but hey you can't have the best restaurant with no people. The waffles looked amazing and will have to try them next time.
Jade Lim
This cafe is always busy. Pretty average to me..a little disappointed as I've expected so much of this place with all the positive reviews. I ordered the beetroot quiche from the counter..took them close to 20+minutes to heat up and serve. Taste was there, but crust was soggy! Other than that their smoothies are fantastic.
Annaaaaa Khakis
I'd rather say it was the Best waffle in Auckland, fair price, awesome food, friendly staff. I've there in afternoon always caus they were not so rush in that moment...kkkkkk
Scott
So me,wife and kids drive past here every day.
Its always busy and its one place we keep saying we have to go to. So this week finally we had a "date breakfast" and went...does it live up to the hype?...
Not quite is the answer.
We ordered the following:-
Poached eggs on toast..unfortunately the eggs were cold and overcooked. They had to be sent back. With fresh ones cooked.
There was no issue in fresh ones being made.

I ordered mushrooms, bacon in a balsamic cream sauce in soda bread. This was perfect!! Portion size was great, tasted awesome, was well cooked. It was great....which then made what my wife received seem worse.

The coffee was spot on, I had a flat white white was done great. They had a great selection of muffins and ugly bagels which looked great

The waitress was not having the best day, she was not that welcoming
Its a real shame, i enjoyed it, my wife didnt, which means we would not go back.

Richard J
This place has the worst waiter in Auckland took food we were eating dumped a napkin on it trying to remove plates while we were still eating. Young guy when we said stop he said whatever !! You still want it !!!
What a joke !!!
Caroline Barrett
WOW - I went all out here and ordered the banana and walnut waffles w/ice cream and OH MY GOD it was worth every single excessive calorie! The food here is completely to die for....so much so that I am pretty sure I dreamed about what I ate the next day and then the next.
This place is super busy but understandably so - Its on my favourites list!
Riyah Walton
Best ugly bagels (halloumi) and berry waffles were to die for. Couldn't do more but highly recommend this cute little cafe. Really enjoyed sharing my the bagel for lunch with a friend and then the waffles for dessert. Yummy!
Michael
Overall Little King is the best brunch / lunch option that Milford has to offer.

Coffee is generally good, not 100% consistent, but still consistent enough to pick LK as the best of the bunch.

Menu options are are good, I really like that they do a half size bene. There are still enough options that the menu doesn't feel limiting even though I can't have diary.

Cabinet is pretty much just muffins, quiche and slices.

Menu pick - the teriyaki chicken salad.
Food 24/7
The place was full when we arrived but the waitress was super friendly and helpful to assist us with a table

We ordered flat white, grill chicken salad and the tofu Croquette ...

The flat white was beautifully presented with a rich aroma.

My grill chicken salad was light and tasty. The sweetness of the roasted Beetroot worked extremely well with the tender chicken and crunchy walnuts.

The tofu croquette was served with salad, avocado, cherry tomatoes and a chill dipping sauce. The croquette itself had a crispy crust, filling was flavoursome. Combination of the elements on the plate provide balance for the dish.

Can't wait to try their waffle next time !
Campbell Gibson
With Little King being one of my locals I have been a few times and wanted to try a few different things before writing a review. On this occasion I ordered the the portobello mushrooms with the hash brown stack. As referenced in the picture I was presented with one mushroom and a single hash brown which straight away isn't true to the menu. I also didn't have any pesto accompanying my dish but I was blessed with 3 huge handfuls of rocket with no dressing. The only reason I ate it all is I had to wait 20 minutes for it to reach my table. Thankfully the saving grace was a genuine waiter (unfortunately I didn't get his name) who asked about my meal and actually was listening to what I had to say. $18 for an inspired dish.

Thoroughly enjoyed coming here for an impromptu brunch with a friend. The cafe from the road looks small, but it's incredibly spacious and has plenty of seating.

We both ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was really really delicious. The eggs could've been cooked a fraction more but really it was 99/100. Definitely recommend. The coffee was strong and yum.

The have plenty of goodies available in their counter as well, I took home a couple of treats for later!

Would definitely come back here, I really enjoyed myself, the food was great, the service was perfect and the decor is just SO cute.
Joanne Chiang
Yum yum yum. Little king cafe is located in the centre on milford town centre. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is good.
I ordered the paleo grill and my partner got the mince hash. The paleo diet was yummy. It has kale chips, chicken breast and all that good stuff. My bf really enjoyed his mince hash, the mince was juicy and flavourful.
Overall it was good dining issue.
Kelly Sanderson
I have been here twice now and both times really enjoyed my meal. One other time we tried to visit with friends on a weekend but there was a long wait to get a table so we went elsewhere. It is kid friendly which is important for me if I am taking my children I would say however that it can be a bit of a pain with a pushchair, the nice man at another table had to get up and move so we could get the pushchair in so next time I will leave it in the car. For food and atmosphere alone I would have rated it a 5 and I will definitely be back again.
Shaun Mike Jones
A wonderful atmosphere to be in and the food was well presented and tasted amazing! Thanks for the wonderful time and shall be returning in the near future 👍
Rose
we ordered the muesli it was quite nice with the seasonal fruit though some bits if the granola tasted a bit funny. Though the customer service was good.
FoodReviews
Very Dissapointing food offer. Our Paleo Breakfast chicken was dry unseasoned hard piece of meat. Presentation was just thrown together on a plate. Has this place changed hands? Service was good and coffee was excellent.
KELBEAN25
Had such an awesome coffee here today! Think creamy foam, beautifully hot and chocolatey mocha. Service is attentive and a nice relaxing place to sit before the lunchtime rush
Thegreeats
Excellent service, cute interior and great food
Parking is a little awkward as it's in the middle of milford on the streets but there's lots of streets around and the mall as well
I has their tofu dish which was good but my bf had their creamy mushroom which was 👌
I've also has their waffles before but felt they were a bit tiny for the price
Quite similar feel to bread and butter which is just next door
John Field
Had brunch on Sunday. Great service, lots of choice in the menu. Had the eggs with bacon and vine tomatoes and my wife had the bacon waffles. Great food. Had a bit of a wait but they were very busy and it was worth it! Coffee was spot on! Would recommend. Will be back!
Sophie-fern Wright
Really good service as usual. Ordered a chicken, quinoa salad.. Was really nice but the portion was really small! The cabinet food is prob better value for money!
Sophia Ignateva
I really like this cafe, but to be honest it gets worse now, the food isn't that good as it used to be. Also it has been the same for like 4 years. which is quite annoying. I really like the service though.
Fiona
We go often , always busy with people , we went for breakfast and lunch , yummy food and great smoothies and coffee , great place for Sunday breakfast ,
Claud Hoskins
The decor and vibe at Little King is awesome, Highly recommend this wee cafe as your destination for the perfect eggs bene or just for a catchup with a friend over a cup of vanilla rooibos tea
Eden Wood
I hadn't been here in quite some time and had always been impressed in the past but this visit left me questioning whether I'd return. We came in at peak hour, 11am on Sunday, for brunch and weren't surprised we had to wait 10 minutes for a table. We then had to flag down the waitress to take our orders and then the food took around 20 minutes to come out. Admittedly the food was rather good but that did not make up for the service. The waffles were exceptional with bacon and caramelised banana but the teriyaki chicken was average. The chicken was dry and the ratio of chicken to rice and salad was very low. The waitress serving the table next to us also spilled water all over their table, soaking one of the customers phone's. Not the most pleasant brunch experience but perhaps we just came on a bad day.
Michelle
The double chocolate waffle is the bomb! The chocolate ice cream is definitely one of the best in Auckland! The smoked salmon egg benedict is also worth trying. The service is great and I would definitely come back.
WeiTing Ashley Shyu
I've heard great things about Little King Cafe. The place is certainly inviting. It has beautiful art work hung out and a really cool modern vibe. I've had coffee here a few times with my girlfriends. I love that they have an almond milk alternative to milk.
Mikayla Plaziuk
Have heard a lot of good things about this place so thought I'd give it a go. The decorations and theme of the place is quirky and cool. The food was reasonably priced and really yummy! Although it might look slightly small on the plate it's actually really filling. The waitress who served us seemed a little fake but the waiter was nice as well as the lady who took our bill, was so bubbly which was really nice! All in all definitely be back if I was in the area!
Auckland Foodie
Ordered the portobello mushrooms on hash with poached eggs and bacon. The hash was different with a crust peppered with seeds. It had great crunch. The poached eggs were perfect. The portobello mushrooms were ginormous and the side of lentils to accompany was a surprising but welcome addition. With a generous handful of rocket and a shaving of Parmesan, it was almost perfect. A sprinkling of balsamic wouldn't have gone astray. Still good nonetheless.
Nazah Ali
Yum!! This place is such a classic in the easily accessible Milford, came here for a friends birthday lunch and the staff were extremely friendly and attending to the entire group, delicious food aswell
Mary Underwood
Didn't have long for lunch but glad I came here. Simple lunch menu and water brought straight to your table. Friend ordered the salmon Benedict. Lashings of salmon. I went with the soup. Served in a little saucepan, full of taste and delicious. Very friendly staff, spotted the table needed seeing to before menus were placed down.
Priscilla Khang
Very nice cafe in the shore. Loving the modern layout and design. Service and food was excellent. Only downside is the lack of space on the tables as they're quite small making it super challenging to eat as we got a very small table for 3. Also the tables are quite close to others. So if you don't mind sharing and sitting close to strangers then this is the place for you.
Frank
Definitely one of the top cafes on The Shore! Has that cool factor that housewives and hipsters just love. Super funky interior, great staff, and an edible menu to make my unqualified mouth water. If there was anything to complain about it was the slightly long delay in getting our fish finger sandwich, but otherwise superbly impressed and definitely a place to come back to....
Tanya Kerr
Probably one of my Top 3 places to eat on the north shore. This place is always super busy and it's not surprising why.The food here is delicious and the service is efficient.

My favourite dishes are the "Grilled haloumi and warm roasted vegetables" as well as the "Tofu Croquette." They have a large indoor area with a number of seating options and the place is always buzzing. There are a couple tables outside which seem to be always be the most popular seating option in summer, especially for those with pets.

Along with their menu items, they offer some delicious looking cabinet food, an assortment of drinks and ice-creams. There is also a children's play area at the back which could appeal to parents of young children.

I love this place and I will keep coming back for a long time!
Chloe Hurtley
Go to little king cafe with my friends a few times, I'm not a egg eater so they are always great when I want to swap my eggs for something else. Their mochas are one of the best coffee I have had :-).
Jessica Teasdale
I've been to little king quite a few times and the food is always so consistent! I know whatever I order on the menu will be good so I'm always happy to try new things.

The price is pretty reasonable for the portion size, and the food is always beautifully presented.

If it's your first time there definitely try the waffles first...so yum!
Joe Roberts
Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday here without calling in advance, and even though they were pumping, they were able to seat us right away so kudos to the team for that. One of the coolest atmospheres and sick decor .Lunch menu was small but well varied, and heaps of deli type stuff at the counter and smoothies on the menu to help pad it out. I had the chicken salad and it was delicious.
James Mark
Had an Awesome Saturday breakfast with my wife and child.
^^^^^^^^ good food and great service . made my week end.Would love to come back for sure but i felt some dishes were over charged.
Alysha Bower
Went here this morning with my partner and it is such a cute little cafe. The service is great and the food is good too! We each had a smoothie I had a Tangy Mango and my partner had the Date Almond and Vanilla. They were very tasty! I had the Salmon Lox for breakfast and it was nice only comment would be to have a bit more avocado on it as there was only 6 thin slices. My partner had the Bacon Eggs Benedict and he really enjoyed it. He said he liked that it wasn't drowned in hollandaise like a lot of other places do. We will defiantly be coming back!

This cafe is tucked away in a nice part of Milford. It's a place to try for a weekend brunch on the north shore. I had the muesli which was great and coffee was good too. Quite busy but worth a try.

This restaurant was located on the main business district of Milford. It was difficult to get a parking nearby.
The restaurant was quite large can accommodate may be 50 people. Not easy to get a table here.
The food was delicious. I especially like the waffle.
They have several types of waffles in the menu to choose from. They are all very tempting...

My partner and I visited Little King cafe a few weeks ago and we both ordered the waffles. Reasonably priced for the portion we both got and they were delicious, as well as the berry banana smoothie I had. The staff were friendly but it took them quite a while to come over and take our order. Will most likely go back.

This little treasure in Milford is a great spot to catch up with friends for brunch or a cup of coffee. Their menu has a lot to choose from. Love love their waffles selection and halloumi beagle w pesto! Hmmm 😊

Im a local to Milford to i tried Little King a few days ago, and wasnt too impressed. Great environment, and cool presentation of the food but a huge disappointment about the quality of the food served and the coffee. Coffee had a bitter taste and and lacked heat. And food service was extremely fast but you could tell the bacon was precooked.. If they picked up their game a little and bought their food and coffee standard up to their appearance level it would be amazing.

Such a nice little cafe for brunch.
The food was delicious and I had a hard time deciding which one to order! At the end we asked the waitress to recommend and got the two dishes that were great!
Also had the ice coffee, was well made and I was very satisfied with the service and environment!
Only if it's closer to where I stay, I'll come here often!

Nice restaurant where you can try real taste of food here..We ordered an Egg Benedict and Teriyaki Chicken..was fantastic!!A good place to hang out..

Had the best brunch here today! My first time in Milford, I absolutely loved finding this gem of a gorgeous, laidback cafe whose quirky decor is hip and cozy and whose healthy food focus reminds me of brunch at Rosie.

I had the Portobello Mushrooms with housemade hash brown, poached eggs, rocket salad, lentils, parmesan and basil pesto. It was very wholesome, healthy and delicious - I liked the juicy, large and well flavoured mushrooms, the crunchy hash brown, which was mild but could've had more flavour, and the perfectly cooked poached eggs.

My friend had Creamy Balsamic Mushrooms with bacon, parmesan and toasted ciabatta. We both loved this dish more - the flavouring was perfect. We both agreed that the sauce is absolutely amazing but a little heavy. A highly recommended dish.

With these, he had a mocha and myself an Avocado & Spirulina smoothie - fresh avocado, spinach, kale, chia, spirulina and apple juice. The smoothie was very green and very raw, fresh & authentic.

Overall, I absolutely loved brunch at Little King Cafe today. The cafe was packed, but customer service was still friendly and attentive. Everyone seemed in good spirits on this sunny Saturday afternoon. The decor was bright, unique and welcoming. Would definitely return for brunch again!

Portobello Mushrooms $18
Creamy Balsamic Mushrooms $18
Avocado & Spirulina Smoothie $9
Mocha $4

Waffles are just amazing! Love this cafe would definitely go to when I get the time to travel from west! Such a popular place and has a good atmosphere!

My daughter and I had breakfast at Little Kings earlier today. My daughter had the waffles with ice cream, cream and maple syrup. I had the sage fried eggs and smoked salmon which was fantastic. The coffee isn't great - very bitter and a bit watery. The service is pleasant but slow due to the volume of people who go to the cafe. It can be hard to get a table.

Best balsamic mushrooms evverrrrr!!! Have visited this place a few times now and I live in East Auckland! Definitely worth the drive out!! ☺️

Auckland's North Shore hides some brilliant suburban cafe's and all it takes is a quick circle on Zomato's map feature to source them out.

A couple of days a go, Little King Cafe popped up inside my childlike drawn circle which called for a few quick reviews to be digested roadside, before I mapped my route.

With a simplistic design of exposed concrete and aged wooden tables, Little King Cafe welcomes you in for a hot cup of coffee and a filling meal. And with temperatures currently hanging around 14 degrees, isn't that what we're all looking for?

A Supreme coffee was placed in front of me and not only did it prove to be a good cup of joe, it made for the perfect hand defroster too!

Hungry and in need of something warm, I knew the first item on the menu would hit the spot. Although Little King Cafe has built a reputation up for having some pretty wicked sounding waffles, I couldn't resist the Pumpkin Potato Soup served with toasted ciabatta.

It came in a fire-truck red saucepan as if it was lifted straight off the hob and delivered directly to my table. It was surprisingly sweeter than I thought it was going to be which made it something I would be tempted to have again.

Although I live on the other side of the bridge, Little King Cafe has pleasantly surprised me and is a cafe I'll definitely keep in mind for the future, and I recommend you do too!

The place I bring my daughters after a school netball game - they adore the waffles. Large cafe which is very busy (sometimes overcrowded) but with efficient service. As other reviews mention this is the go to place on the north shore for waffles - not my thing but teenagers love them.

Coffee is ok but a bit variable - a food place which do coffee ok but not great.

They have lots of cakes which are well decorated but a bit bland for me - the kids love them

Overall a definite place to take teenage kids but not one for a top notch coffee. Good on the staff and owners as they work hard and do their speciality well.

Great cafe to go for an easy and tasty lunch/breakfast. Healthy, fresh and beautifully arranged dishes. Not to big and definitely not too small, kid dishes included. Great smoothie choice. Will be back

Such a cosy cafe! The eggs benedict was amazing, probably the best one ive tried so far! It was a reasonable price for the food we ordered. I ordered the mango pineapple smoothie, the taste was good but the texture was way too thick and sickening i couldnt even drink half. If you like thick smoothies you'd love it!

Favourite cafe in Milford, food was delicious!!! I had fish finger burger and it was amazing, couldn't fault. The second time I went, I had teriyaki chicken and rice, was tad too sweet but didn't bother me and it was still very yum. I also had a smoothie which was easily the best mango smoothie I've had. Love love loooooveee ?

Easily the funkiest cafe in Milford - wouldn't seem out of place in Takapuna or Ponsonby etc. Had a roasted almond smoothie which was delicious and not too sweet. Very prompt service and friendly waitresses.
Nikul Kumar
Had fish finger sandwich. It was very good except there was too much flour on the burger buns. Food took ages to make. We must have waited close to an hr. But food was worth the wait.

Best cafe on milford/Takapuna area, good coffee /great service . Ordered salmon Lox and really enjoyed it! The only feedback would be to make the cabinet food more on a healthier side since there are lots of health conscious people out there these days . Really enjoyed the food/coffee and will be back every Saturday :)

Go-to cafe for waffles on the shore! We had banana walnut waffles, halloumi bagels, americano, rice milk flat white and a soy mocha. The coffee was superb! The day was cold so the coffee was made to suit. No complaints there. The food was amazing! Especially the waffles.

I went in with my friend and sister, as we entered two servers saw us but didn't accomodate us, even though I already said hi as a signal of "we'd like some seats please", but they continued to walk around us like we're invisible. The food were slightly pricey, but kinda reasonable cuz it's in milford area. The food was fresh and the amount is good, also tastes pretty good. Service-wise, some of the young servers seem too caught up with each other's personal lives, chatting away. I've put my hand up multiple times and they fail to pay attention to some of their customers. Luckily, there will be one that is decent enough to notice.

I went for the first time at 1pm to have a cuppa with waffle and.... really disappointed honestly with such an arrogant and unkind attitude of one of their waitress in a black&white mottled dress...very TERRIBLE experience ever!!!!!! I wouldn't like even passing by this cafe!!!!

Just what Milford needed.
It's so nice that have a cafe in Milford that knows what it is doing.
Friendly staff, great food and a interesting vibe.

The music has been a little loud a few times but other than that, it's always great.

Great little cafe in downtown Milford. Good service, nice environment and enticing menu. The child had waffles with icecream, chocolate sauce and maple syrup. The Adults had portobello mushrooms on hash browns, lox salmon bagels with avocado, red onion, cream cheese and pesto. Good coffee, highly recommended. Children well catered for with their own play area and menu.

I had another great experience today!! Great coffee with a gobsmacking pattern on top, and both my girlfriend and I had waffles which were amazing. Well done Little King keep impressing us! ????????

What a great cafe! I've passed by it so many times, unaware of what I was missing. Thanks to Zomato I've now found my new regular for weekend brunches! Efficient and friendly service, great food, beautifully presented with interesting variants on the usual brunch options. I had the mushroom and hashbrown stack, which I'm sure had white quinoa in it... Gave it a nice crunch! The coffee was "Supreme" and totally lived up to its name ????. I will definitely be back!

Hey guys I went for the first time to have breakfast and.... Not very happy to be honest.. My mince on toast really plain coffee was alright chix salad average... Pretty disappointed to be honest.

Service was wonderful. Polite and friendly staff helped after a small accident when I spilled my mango smoothy on the floor. Great portion sizes. Prices are a bit expensive. But food was great. Cant wait to go back.

A great little place on the North Shore for a coffee or brunch. The atmosphere is great, with mismatched furniture and feature walls perfect to capture for social media pictures. Months ago when I visited for the first time, I ordered the Eggs Benedict and was greatly surprised as the serving was incredibly generous, coming back a couple of weeks ago the serving sizes have definitely lessened but nothing to complain about too much. The waffles are a family favourite, arriving with a handful of sides (such as maple syrup, yoghurt, berry compote) depending on which one you get. Overall, a pleasant and fresh place in the Milford area!
Tina
Delightfully casual decor with mismatched vintage plates, mismatched chairs, and a communal table. Service was quick however my food was very disappointing. Ordered the bruschetta expecting crunchy bred with tomatoes, olive oil basil ... Received soft sough dough bread with melted cheese, two very small oven roasted tomatoes, avocado and rocket. Bland & tasteless and odd for bruschetta.

Little King is the best cafe in the area, and reflect perfectly Milford's changing demographic. It's pricey but the quality of food and coffee is good. The kids' play area is also pretty cool and just removed enough to not interfere with other customers.

The service has been a bit of a let down on occasion, but they can get very busy. The decor is great - contemporary but quirky at the same time.

We've now moved out of the area but always happy to come back when around Milford.
Greg Powell
This Cafe as a cool vibe but the service is very poor.

Twice in my last 3 visits, they misplaced our order.

I will not be going to this cafe again.

Just wanted to say that it's a rare occasion when I go out with friends and I am completely satisfied with every single detail!
Food was amazing! I had the waffles with seasonal fruits :) beautifully displayed and delicious:)

Secondly the interior was amazing. Really added to the vibe of the cafe.

And a huge applause to the staff working around midday last Thursday. You guys were prompt, friendly and attentive but not over attentive. It's a rare thing in Auckland to have good staff that look like they love their jobs.

Thanks guys for a great morning, will be coming back !
Adeline
Coffee was good. Love the interior deco and service - you wouldn't expect it jusr looking at the surrounding neighbourhood (LOL - sorry Milford!). We ordered French toast + banana, bacon and generous servings of maple syrup! Yummo!

What a lovely, child friendly cafe. :) We went in there on the off chance for lunch, and am so pleased that we did. the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and catered for all of our different dietary requirements. It was reasonably priced and a lovely, friendly atmosphere.

The kids loved it, the adults loved it, and we'll definitely be going back! :)

If you're looking for an informal but nice quality lunch, this is well worth checking out. :)

This cafe was average, I didnt like it's snobby high class look, it looked flattering in some places but in others it looked too much. The service wasnt great, the food was average. Busy little cafe I guess it does well just doesn't appeal to my tastes.

Have popped in a couple of times during the last week. First time for a takeaway coffee on a Sunday, second time for just coffee but both times ended up being seduced by the sweet offerings. Coffee is Supreme brand and is brilliantly made by the baristas. I tried the macadamia caramel slice my first visit. Delicious! Second time tried the berry muffin with cream cheese and jam and it was superb. This place is crazy busy, has a great buzzy atmosphere and vibe, with good friendly staff and a funky decor. Will be going back for brunch for sure

I have been here only a couple of times as it is nearby, but as of today I will never be going back there. I popped in yesterday for a coffee at 3pm to get out of the rain and accidentally left my fruit I had purchased there. I rang up at 5pm when they were closed (there is always someone still there at that time) They said they had the fruit and I should come down tomorrow and pick it up. So today I went in to pick it up and they told me they did not have it. All they said was sorry. Now it would have been ok if yesterday when I had rang they said they didn't have it but they did! So clearly they have stolen our food. This is absolutely shocking and I will never be going back here. On top of this their food is grossly over priced. Do not recommend at all.
Love Food
this cafe are always busy and full of people, love their deco. good coffee and cake. would like to try their meal nest time

Little King is such a cute and quaint little cafe, so perfect for those catch up brunches! Their menu is pretty extensive and affordable for brunch. Waffles are a must try at this adorable cafe! Don't let the pretty plate fool you, their waffles do pack a punch and do fill you up! They're also so picturesque for all you instagram fans out there :) Coffee is good and so is their coffee art and don't even get me started on their nutrient filled smoothies! Your cells will thank you!

Little king is a truly amazing place! Lovely atmosphere and such nice staff! Coffee is amazing and so is their meals! Not to pricey and there is something for everyone, would certainly recommend this for anyone :)

Over priced, boring same old cafe food. Cabinet is boring and looks very plain and unappealing. Some of the staff seem very miserable and unfriendly and then some are too in your face. Only been here once but know the owner use to own Ben Gusto in Browns Bay. It hasn't got any kind of interesting vibe that makes me want to ever visit again.
