Review Burgerfuel - Mission Bay

Really big improvement from the last time I dined here, staff were very helpful and food was excellent

Greta burgers, even the vegetarian options are good. Can see why there are so many new shops opening up.

Went their with my special needs Son, Luca went out if her way to make my visit easy, so I came back the next week, having her working there cuts out a lot of the random stress involved in attempting to eat out, I will be back.

#realreview Soft patty fresh ingredients Feels like giving the ingredients generously Hamburger buns are soft and no stuffy It is good because it has plenty of sauce Staff is very kind. 👍

Delicious burgers with lots of vegan, vegetarian, low carb, and gluten free options. Friend staff and a nice view of Mission Bay. Wish they wouldn't serve drinks etc in takeaway containers when you're eating in.

Burgers were good. Loved the kumara chips and Thunderbird & Burnout burgers. Atmosphere is good, children friendly as well. The burger holder is so ingenious, makes eating burgers so much easier and less messy!

The lady who served us today was amazing. She was super friendly and efficient. She was organised and my two girls loved it. She made our night!!! 😀

Went to mission bay after a lovely swim at the beach. Met a humble man (blonde hair, blue eyes) great worker and even better burgers! Definitely would recommend! Update: Ever since my last post i have only experienced a great time! the burgers have never lacked in quality. There does seem to be a bit of a language gap as some of the workers speak very broken English. But besides from that it is always a pleasure. It is always nice to see the same blonde hair boy working there <3

Wow, a delightful surprise at the amazing flavours and choices today, had the perfect taste and the service from your staff was absolutely 5 star. Highly Recommend.

Beetroot and egg burger was excellent. Service is not fast but that's just the way it goes

One of the best Burgerfuel spots. Their chicken fenders are just amazing

Pick up time extremely wrong, with current situation this needs to be improved, 30 mins after pick up time food came out. This caused there to be a problem with keeping social distance. Fries were cold and horrible. Burger was ok. When I asked to get a refund as I couldn't wait extra 30 mins , they had not cooked food, they denied that request. So much for the prime minister saying to leave if distance problem

I walked into the store the beautiful aroma hit my nostrils and let me tell u it was something else, although the hot air did make me quite hot, it was all worth it. There was a young folk on the cashier, blue eyes, brown hair; kind of looks like Nash Grier. See I don't like Nash Grier well I didn't; he's alright now his baby is cute. Now he was quite pushy on what I wanted but it was great service. Let's talk about the burger. Wow, that burger was delicious, absolutely mouth-watering I took a bite and wow, I'm speechless it was just I don't even know what to say, beautiful, gorgeous? The doofer. Let's talk about that for a sec. ABSOLUTE LIFESAVER. THE JUICY BURGER WAS NO MATCH FOR MY DOOFER IT KEPT IT SECURE, SAFE, WOW AMAZING IT PROTECTED IT WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND THE BURGER IN A WAY NO ONE CAN DESCRIBE.

I love eating at burger fuel. Yesterday (5/2/20) however at around 9pm, I ordered fries as takeaway.
I was waiting for my food. And then I saw two people who ordered after me get their food before I did. So I sat in front of the checkout and the waitress didn’t care I had waited for about 20minutes.

Finally, I thought, maybe she forgot my order. So I asked the waitress about my fries and they were ready this whole time!
I said ‘oh I hope they are still warm’
She said ‘oh they were only made just a couple minutes ago’
Yes dear, and I’ve also only been waiting an extra 20minutes for some fries that are now cold thanks
Such bad customer service and a very unpleasant experience.
Such a shame.

The burgers are good, the meat is of very nice quality, but very pricey. $16 and everything else is on the side. They say on the menu “includes salad” and they mean the burger has lettuce inside. Honestly?
The kumara fries are a disappointment- frozen and a very small dose for over $6.

Went there on Friday evening with family. Very disappointed with chips, the fat/big ones were not cooked enough. Partly raw. No crunch and very mushy. Place inside was quite dirty, especially the floor with food droppings all over the place. Not consistent as other BurgerFuel restaurants. I will give the benefit of the doubt otherwise I will score 1.

One of the smaller branches I have been to. Mostly 2 seater arrangements, a couple of bench seats and one group table. Service prompt and friendly. Quality food everytime. The biggest chicken fenders of all the ones i have been to so far. Would return if in the area.

Amazing place for burgers, really nice flavors good serving size of burgers. Very positive workplace environment cant stop coming back their for my favorite bastard. Great and quick service by nandani.
Luz !
For me a good hamburger means good meat and fresh ingredients. Here it is so heavy and all over the place and you don’t really feel the real taste of anything. What about more simple ingredients and not so many stuff but I invest in better quality?
Uncle
Extremely friendly staff. Went a couple months ago but their service was so good that I thought about it today. Good people and great food. A win win situation really.
Awesome service, Order came out quick, and the burgers were Amazing!!! 10/10 as usual . outta all the burgerfuel stores around Auckland this one has been the best.

ordered online, still had to wait 15 minutes and at the end they gave me wrong order then I went back and they finally got it right but at the end I had received cold kumara fries and also the extra aioli I ordered wasn't there...this isn't the first time it happened !!!

A very quick visit to Burgerfuel Mission Bay was one that wasn’t pleasing. We saw their ad for Jalapeno poppers and we were intrigued to see them. It was a limited edition item so we thought, why not try them? We waited in line - the restaurant was very busy because it was 5:30 pm and when we ordered them, we were expecting a 5.90 price for 4 poppers, that’s what the board hanging over the till said. The lady serving us then told us that the machine was saying it was 7.90, which was a bit confusing. The lady then went and got her manager who advised us that the sign had been misprinted and the only option was the 7.90 one. Not a great experience because the sign was misleading to customers. Feels like cheating. The other times we have eaten here, burger and fries have been really great, just this particular experience was disappointing.

Busy and clean place, weekends get really busy but the staff work very hard to be updated with customer orders, really good thunderbird chicken burger, love the sauces, awesome buy on the weekend

Very disappointing!! Order ended up going in the bin! Got a takeout from Burger Fuel Missions Bay today, the place was empty so they can't blame it on being too busy, the burgers tasted of dirty oil, very greasy and chewy, and they looked they had been thrown together, the fries were cold and soggy, total waste of $40.00. This place used to be great, however, now it looks dirty, rundown and the food is disgraceful. When your paying $40 for 2 burgers you expect decent food.

This place does get very busy. But now with the burger fuel having online orders for pick up it makes it so much easier! Clean environment, and such lovely staff as they're all under stress this place can have lines out the door! Could probably do with extra staff on the weekends!
James
Been there a couple of times, food is good but service is horrible. Waited for almost a hour for food tonight, manager sat on her computer and didn’t help the staff. Only 3 people working and many complainants about wait time

Came here for lunch on a super hot day. The staff were very friendly when we arrived, we had the option to sit outside, which was great. I ordered the V-dub veggie which was brought out to us in no time, well presented on the cute little plate. The burger itself was very well made, with a generous amount of fillings, however the kumara fries weren’t quite as crispy as I would have liked. Also, they forgot to bring the drink so my bf had to run back and grab it!
The restaurant itself is very clean and well maintained.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of the food and service :) keep it up guys!

TK and the crew busted out 20 something burgers in no time at all and straight up best Burgerfuel experience I've ever had not to mention the location is perfect for a city escape
Vishu
Nice small outlet with beautiful view to the sea. Fries and burgers are tasty. Kumara fries were nice as well. I can anytime stop by for a tasty burger here if I'm walking by the mission bay.

Just... Amazing!
Great burger, great fries, great great, even if you are a vegan
And all the waiters are super friendly.
We had a great time and a great meal!

We bought our dinner from Burger Fuel, Mission Bay today as a take away. All the 3 burgers we bought were burnt. Pretty shit quality we ever expected from Burger Fuel. Wasted our $50 there.
Will never be able to trust burger fuel for our meal again!

The roadster is what I bought from Queen St. And the roadster is what I bought here also. And like always the burger was huge, but addictive at the same time. The onions rings was probably the best part of the burger and the meat fillings also.

The service was standard just like the other burgers I went to, creating that positive hype pretty much when you wait for your burger. The waiting time was a bit long, like they say the anticipation is what kills you the most hahaha.

It has the standard Burger Fuel layout with the industrial-like table and stools outside and then the classic american burger feel in the inside. But mind you, it's a bit bigger in space then the one in the city which is a plus.

I have been wanting to try the new steak burger and yesterday I finally had a chance to. It was very disappointing! I usually have a good experience at Burger Fuel, but this time I was totally disappointed. The bun was soggy. the meat was luke-warm and the flavor was terrible. Not going back to Mission Bay BF!
Laurian Odea
We had burgers from Mission Bay Burger Fuel last night and they were the worst burgers I have ever had. Awful stale untoasted bun, dry brittle burger meat, the stump of an iceberg lettuce and a trace of awful flavouring which was supposed to be satay sauce....no love there.
Filippo
Thanks to the staff at bugerfuel missionbay. Especially Rohith for the great hospitality and services. Rate them 10/10. Great humour and are good fast workers.

Amazing customer service and food! The employee who took my order and made sure my meal was delicious was TK! He was extremely polite and enthusiastic about my meal, making sure that I was enjoying myself. Excellent employee and overall my experience at burger fuel fantastic!

My go to take away burger store! Burger Fuel is amazingly accommodating towards vegans and vegetarians, having 3 plant based burgers to choose from and all the staff are extremely knowledgeable in regards to dietary requirements. I always go for the combustion tofu burger and ask for it to be veganized (no aioli). I usually get the larger pattie as the tofu burger is a smaller size but sometimes the staff forget to offer this option and on occasion if I also forget to mention it, I get the smaller burger. They basically get it right every time, bar once where they forgot to remove the aioli and we had to return to the store. The manager was beyond fantastic with customer service - he refunded me the cost of the burger, cooked a second burger and gave me a voucher for a free burger on my next visit! Amazed at how far he went to ensure his customers were looked after. With such great service and awesome food, I will always be a loyal customer :)

Had the Bambina Beef Burger with a side of fries. It was a good feed and was very filling. The service was good and I felt that the ambience of the restaurant itself was warm and toasty. Would definitely love to come here again.

een wanting to try this for a while now, these burgers are delish, although I would of thought they would have used spinach or fancy lettuce opposed to iceberg. The Motobites are pumpkin n carrot morsels deep fried yummo. The Kaitahi Smoothie are nice but undersized for the price. Thursday 17 October 2019

I have developed many food babies from this joint and I do not regret it one bit hehe. There burgers are succulent, very filing and most of all, very tasty! Great customer service as I have always been welcomed with a huge smile. Highly recommend if your around the area.

We ordered the Burnout burger and kumara fries and as usual the kumara fries were great with the aioli! The burger was a decent size for the price and was pretty good as it had chicken, bacon and avocado (couldn't resist that!). However the sauce was a tad bit salty but apart from that the staff were nice and friendly and service was quick! :)
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered:
Ford Freakout
Spud Fries
Kumara Fries

Bill: $22.60

Big tummy: Where do I even start with this one? If there was one word to describe our experience at Burger Fuel Mission Bay, it would be "chaos". BF is actually one of my favourite burger joints and I've had nothing but good experiences with the Albany/Queen St stores, so I felt Mission Bay really let the team down on this occasion. I guess I'll start with the positives (we gave it 1.5 stars after all). The burger itself tasted great... as always with BF. But sadly, that's where the good times end.
The service (and food as a result - more on that shortly) was abysmal. Like the store wasn't exactly over-the-top busy - there was never enough people at one time to form a queue - but the unorganised nature of the service made it seem like the workers were rushing off their feet. It soon became apparent why the workers seemed so frantic though. We had to sit there for 27 minutes waiting for our order (1x burger and 2x fries), and in that time we were provided the entertainment of watching customer after customer after customer complaining that they had been given the wrong orders. There was one customer who placed their order after us and was served his food before us - there were two other customers who were there longer than us and received their orders after us. Perhaps the worst part though was that while waiting you were lucky if you could get a seat. No tables were being cleaned, which meant that you had empty tables sitting there loaded with rubbish. One table was overflowing with so much rubbish that a customer actually cleaned it up herself... and she wasn't even sitting at that table. When a worker eventually approached her to help, she explained that the excess rubbish was "bothering her". It was seriously like something out of a circus. When we eventually received our food, we weren't too surprised to find that the burger and both sets of fries were cold, as if they'd been sitting there for awhile. An incredibly disappointing experience from a franchise I usually associate with quality.

Little tummy: As my boyfriend said, the whole visit to BF Mission Bay was an absolute shambles. What is funny is that we passed up BF in Parnell to come to the Mission Bay store, just for the nicer scenery. What a mistake. I only ordered kumara fries and they came out cold and soggy... after waiting for almost 30 minutes. Incredibly unpleasant. I didn't even finish the chips. Safe to say we won't be going back to BF Mission Bay anytime soon.

UPDATE: Burger Fuel Mission Bay were nice enough to invite us in for a free meal, so I felt that we should update this review. Our second experience was infinitely better than our first. This time around we decided to order the Santa Boars burger and spud fries. The burgers were great. Personally I liked mine, but my girlfriend felt that she was eating a salad burger (she felt like they were a bit stingy on the pork pieces). Our fries were kinda cold too, but they were actually really busy this time, so that's somewhat fair enough. The service was absolutely excellent this time though - like we were wondering if we had stumbled upon a completely new BF. The staff were friendly, service was prompt and they have even started giving out little Burger Fuel plates with your order (which is actually a really nice touch - no more using soggy burger bags as a plate). Keeping in mind we had to come back to experience this, we'll rate BF Mission Bay 3.5 stars - but if we'd encountered this first time, it's an easy 4+ star experience.

Haven't been here for awhile. Burgers are still delicious. The staff are fantastic. Very professional and friendly. It was very busy and they handled it like a well oiled machine.

This is a good outlet of the Burger Fuel franchise. The location is great and the ambience is good. Burgers have many interesting options. Service is overall good. Will go in future.

When you're at burger fuel, you know you will get a great burger. They have such awesome buns, juicy juicy patties and fresh crisp veges to go along with it! Even better, their burgers are big so you are sure to feel well filled after a meal here. Definately try their 'bastard' and the 'flame thrower' burger a go!!! Their spud fries with aioli is to DIE FOR. If you're after something a little sweeter, then try their kumara chips! So if you are HUNGRY and crave some awesome burgers, then head down to burger fuel!

Burger Fuel takes the cake as my go-to for lazy Friday night takeaways. It's nice that they have three (rather than just one) vegetarian burgers with a vegan option, although I find the V-Twin and Tofu burgers rather bland. The V-Dub vege is great though (sadly not gluten free) and I love it veganized with added avocado in the low-carborator bun and kumara chips with tomato relish (subbed in place of the usual aioli). The kumara chips are often great, although occasionally you get a soggy batch which are rather disappointing considering they cost over $5.

The service is ok, although I've had better from other Burger Fuel chains (Mt. Eden and Ponsonby). I've also, more than once, been given the yoghurt relish rather than the dairy-free tomato relish I have had to pay extra for, which always is incredibly annoying.

I find the Mission Bay branch to be a little tightly packed and uncomfortable to eat in, so usually opt for takeaways.

The great thing about Burger Fuel is its focus on sustainable packing etc, so I am always happy to support that.

Overall:
Food: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value: 3/5

Instagram: @recoveringraw

I love Burger Fuel! Their burgers are always fresh and tasty and their fries and aioli are delicious. They also make a pretty good milkshake. I have to say that Mission Bay isn't the best rung in the chain but I still had an enjoyable experience when I was here last week. Other burger Fuels such as Ponsonby and Queen Street are better. I ordered the C N Cheese with avocado, the outer part of the pattie was ever so slightly burnt but the burger was very good apart from that. Burger fuel burgers have such a great flavor. The chips with aioli were delicious. Their aioli is exceptionally good. I also had the strawberry milkshake which was delicious. My friend ordered some motobites to go with her burger. Quite a bizarre accompaniment to a burger if you ask me but they were nice. The service at Burger Fuels is almost always very good, the staff are really friendly. Overall, I think Burger Fuel easily takes the lead as the best burger chain in New Zealand.

Pretty decent burger , can prove quite a handful . Pretty decent milkshakes too . Make sure you are quite hungry before you eat one of the burgers .

Been several times here. Fantastic food. Loved it. Best burger i have ever had. But needed to wait for long time. Wanna go there again. Recommend to others.

The one which I had was flamethrower. Which was kind of okay not the ones which I'm used to. It had plum sauce which really degraded the taste and still it was spicy the way I wanted. The chips were really soggy and fried unevenly. But the aioli sauce with it was satisfying. By considering the location it is located the quality have to be maintained which is not. On the positive side the service was great.

Can't seem to give them less than one star. Which is a shame, a lot like what has happened to this Burger Fuel.
The food has gone downhill in a big way, I'm not sure what has happened to the burgers but they appear to have been made by someone who walks on all fours not a human. The service is very very slow, it's fast food fellas I'm not coming in for a sit down 3 course meal. All of this would be acceptable if I had paid ten bucks for a couple of burgers from the local greasy spoon takeaways but when I am out of pocket almost $45 for a couple of burgers and a small box of burnt chicken I feel majorly ripped off. Mission Bay, Auckland's food crime capital!
James Wrigley
Do not go to Mission Bay Burgerfuel. It is one of the worst in Auckland - Burger and bun were burnt and substantially smaller than other BFs and the chips were soggy and tasted as though the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed for a long time. On top of this, I waited 28 minutes for a takeaway - not fast food.
Russnz75
They were good at the start, I knew many of the staff but over time there has been a high staff turn over, so a new one every time and that means the burgers may not be made by the same people.

The mature woman I saw working there a year back tried to scam people by adding the surcharge on the weekends of public holidays, so Easter weekend would have a surcharge, not just the day.

The burgers are more greasy now as they changed from a white bun to a wheat one so it absorbs less oil.

I used to enjoy the burgers but every time I have one I don't get the satisfaction I once did
Sonrisa Bella
Fantastic place - meets high Burger Fuel standards in terms of food quality and great service. When I want a good meal at a reasonable price, and a sense of comfort food, in the Mission Bay area Burger Fuel is it for me. Hope they never leave!
Andy Lawrence
Poor by Burger Fuel standards. Beef patty was dry and overcooked, and somewhat burnt around the edges. Service was fine (although it was empty) and I did not eat in.

Kumara fries were about average, but couldn't rescue the burger.

They need to get back to standards quickly.

(Fri 8th June, 8pm ish)
Sandy Wung
Overcooked beef patties.
I've eaten in various Burgerfuel franchises, all were nicely cooked. Mission bay franchise serves beef patties that tastes like they have been re-cooked second time; were burnt and bitter. Needs improvement.
Trish
The burgers are fresh and delicious, and taste homemade - what you might make at home if you could be bothered. The chips taste like they are made out of real spuds. There are plenty of choices on the menu and the staff are friendly and professional.
Cindy Buell
These guys do a good job. Try the Bambina combo meal for good value and great flavour.
