Review Mexicali Fresh - Mission Bay

Loved the fajita veg tacos here. It's a proper dining restaurant which serves mexican food. Located on the main Street at mission bay.

The two staff who greeted me at the door had prepared my meal exactly on time so it was fresh and ready for me as I arrived. Because the nachos were being wrapped in foil, one of the staff placed chips on the guac to stop it from clinging to the foil. This kind of attention to detail and customer care will keep me coming back! Thank you.

Exceptional and friendly service. My food order was prepared so nicely which added to the overall enjoyment of the food. The taste was fresh & so healthy. I'm hooked on Mexicali Fresh Mission Bay. Today was my first time here. Thank you team MFMB!

I was really impressed with the portion and the flavours. I ordered a mini burrito; it was much larger than I was expecting and the flavours were great! I'll definitely be eating at Mexicali again.

Because of my complicated dietary needs and restrictions, ordering food can be pretty difficult. But the staff understood and handled my order very well, they were kind and respectful. Not to mention how delicious the food is!

Great place for good Mexican food. My favorite has been Nachos so far, but other dishes are equally good. They can do any dish veg as well.

The best Mexicali. Great plant based options! Would be 5 stars if the all guys wrap the burritos as good as the ladies do!

Unfortunately it look like this branch has new owners, totally empty, flies all around the food and the Jarritos drinks not for sale anymore. This was the first time I haven’t finished a burrito, the chicken was hard and the food didn’t taste like it used to, the chips seemed old and stale with no flavour, will try the ponsonby one next time I hope they don’t have new owners too

great service, great food. staff were lovely and overall had a good experience. seems like they’re all good friends which makes it such a more comfortable experience. definitely going back soon.

Nice produce and the serving size was much bigger than the New Lynn branch. Friendly staff members. Mango chicken salad is always delicious.

I love the food here!!! I always order the chips + guac and the chicken quesadillas! I order it on uber eats and they’re usually really good. But one time they forgot my chips + guac so I called them up and told them. They were really nice about it! They drove back to my house with my chips + guac and gave me some salsa. All free of charge!!! They’re always good service and the food is yummy!!

Place is good. The franchise stocks those genuine Mexican Jaritos drinks, would definitely recommend you grab one to go with your order, they are good! Chilli fries are baaaaddd, #scrumptiousasfuck so add that to the order too. Ambience of the place is cool, suits the name but would have to admit that customer service is quite half-assed, must be because it was an hour and a half to closing time but they just seemed tired and unable to give proper customer service. I don't know, I always figured in personal experience that if I go to a place and like the customer service I tend to overlook the more minor faults of a restaurant. Food was fresh though, clean and prepared right in front of us. Will be back.

Really nice atmosphere as with all Mexicali restaurants, food is delicious as always and unlike some other reviews have had no experiences with ill mannered staff in the many times I have visited. Only possible gripe would be that often tables are not cleared and cleaned quickly

Food here is great! Great quantity and quality! Often there is a short wait in the line, and food is prepared in a minute or two! Please try this place!

Really love the food here. Reminds me of Chipotle, of which I'm a huge fan (Mexican subway?). Unfortunately the food can be hit or miss and a little overpriced at that.

From customers service to the quality of the food and the atmosphere of this restaurant. <br/> <br/>This restaurant was the first ever restaurant I've ever been too, with having many stores spread out here in Auckland city. <br/><br/>This store has very poor service, will need more training. The food here was as not as fresh as I thought it would be, it seems like the non-veg & many other items has been on the dressing tables for more than two hours. Which makes a big mark down on the quality of the food. Which came down all together poorly here.

Food is okay, but counter staff need basic manners training. I don't expect to be talked to like I was anywhere, let alone when I am a customer.

Was super hungry after walking from the Viaduct to Mission Bay, so my friend and I decided to stop at the first eatery that met us around the corner. <br/><br/>I had the chicken taco salad which was very filling especially with the edible bowl. The staff gave fast and friendly service. We decided to eat outside which was nice to watch the people and feel the slight breeze in the air. Would visit again.

Food was average, staff need to be trained more and customer service skills were very poor. She seemed extremely careless and obviously didn't want to be there. Interior was not clean. The tables had left over food on them.

I ordered my naked burrito salad online and when I came to pick it up the girl working smacked her gum, put down her phone, looked at her watch and snarkily told me I was early. I knew that, and was fine with waiting but was not fine with the attitude. After that it took about three minutes to make. Ugh.

If you ever go to Mexicali fresh there is one thing that you must try and that is the TACO BOWLS. These not only taste amazing but they are great value for money as you get a hearty amount of meat, salad, beans, rice, salsa, cheese and more all shoved in to a crispy taco bowl. This is a two story restaurant with the upper level giving a great view of the night life at mission bay. Also as it is located only across the road from a beach it's a great idea for date night as you can grab something to takeaway that you can then eat on the beach. Also as they offer frozen margaritas this is great for hot summer days at the beach also.

Went here for a quick lunch with my friends when we were over in Mission Bay. We ordered 2 burritos and 2 tacos. The food was decent, standard mexican fast food - nothing special. The service was okay as well. The place could have been cleaner.

I really did. I've been trying to find a good Mexican establishment, but it just isn't happening. First Mexico was a bit of a bomb for us and now Mexicali. I mean, the food is tasty enough and the portion sizes are adequate (I still think it's a little bit overpriced for what it is, but that's just me) - but when a restaurant is dirty or unhygienic, you don't really find yourself caring about the portion sizes, regardless of how the food tastes. While placing our order, I couldn't help but notice the cashier had to shoo flies away from the toppings and then once we got home, I found a sand-fly trapped in the container. Really off-putting and I don't think we'd return to this branch. <br/><br/>Little tummy: Seriously huge portions, to the point where I couldn't even finish half of my fajita burrito, and considering the surprise we found when we got home, I'm thinking that might be a good thing. We ended up coming to this Mexicali branch because their rival down the road had a 45min wait, but I can see why that store was packed, whilst MC was near empty. Needs a serious overhaul in hygiene practice. Flies on food is just not acceptable.

Mexican food is one of my favourite cuisines and was craving today. I went to mexicali on my way home for a late lunch. Love that there is pulled pork on the menu now! Yum! I ordered a quesadilla, it was super cheesy and delicious. I think gaucamole should be a given on the plate, fair enough to charge for extra but some should be free. Fresh salsa was a nice touch. <br/>The restuarant was quite dirty which was disappointing. Lots of dirty tables and food and rubbish on the floor and considering the place was near empty, it wasnt a good look.

Went here to grab a quick lunch with some friends.<br/>It's got a great set up compared to some of the other Mexicali fresh stores, with its wide open space in the centre overlooking the beach, and the hidden alcoves around the corner for more comfort and privacy.<br/>I ordered the pulled pork nachos, the beef naked burrito and the chicken taco salad and OMG! They were delicious. Service was fast and friendly, the meat was hot and the chips crispy and fresh. The taco salad is AMAZING!! if recommend the pulled pork or chicken taco salad to anyone, try it!!<br/>Definitely something I could easily order every week (and have been for the past few months 😅😅) if you some great want Mexican fast food (and I stress this is fast food so don't come in expecting restaurant level authenticity) this is the place for you!

Nice place to attract people. Inside also nice and clean. Had buritto and nachos with my wife. Sat upstair and enjoyed nice raining view of mission bay. Taste is good.

Rude staff and careless attitude was off puting. Food was okay and cleanliness was missing. Located at such a holiday spot, much better customer service is expected.

Really good mexican food at affordable prices! The restaurant itself is so bright and colourful it has a really nice vibe to it. The tortillas are so filling we struggled to finish it because the wrap was jam packed with fresh meat and vegetables. They even have kids meals too if you want smaller servings ZomatoStudents

Located by the bay, this place has great potential to attract customers. The ambience is modern and interesting. Staff need a lot more training. Food is nice. Beverages are standard. Service needs to be quicker.

Maybe we chose a good time but enjoyed my regular Barbecoa Beef fix! Only a few people in the queue and it moved quick so not sure what the fuss is about? If you're after a healthier option which is quick and good value for money then come here.

Got the taco salad, one bite and nearly threw up, when your obsessed with Mexico coming to tacky Mexican food sNt fun, had just come out of an operation as was starving, came here while being driven home and litrally couldn't eat it won't be back, I'm<br/>Sure this place is loved by many but not for me

Our club asked if we could reserve a table and they offered us a room with a view! They even set up a sign to help our members find us. We were treated with such excellent service that everyone is asking for another event here. And the food was delicious - orders were taken quickly and really friendly. Thanks to Jason and their team for the great experience.

Yummy food. My 4 year old absolutly loved her quesadilla, was a great first mexican meal for her. Service was poor. Very slow and not friendly to say the least. Will try this Mexicali again and hopefully the service has improved.

Wow...that was a horrible experience .i am literally shocked by "do-not-care attitude " given me by the staff members. The previous reviewer mentioned 2 "braindead teenagers" I think I know exactly who is (s)he talking about. I came to grab chicken burrito -there was a big line.no biggie -I thought I can wait. O boy I was never that wrong!after standing in queue for about 10 minutes I realised the line did not move at all!!!some people in a front of me just left as it was apparently not worth it.when I got my turn to be served staff member simply walked away from me. He went to kitchen had a casual chat with his mate while the line behind me was growing.then he had a conversation with the cashier who I swear to God was moving as fast as a snail and started to serve people who were in the line before me. I was ignored for about 3 or 4 minutes while 2 staff members tried to scoop some sour-cream(apparently it takes 2 people to do that).finally the dude with long hair came to me and ask what do I want (well by that I reckoned it was a progress ) .i really don't know how could you move slower than that but that dude apparently got high .i wanted to reach over the screen and put the stuff myself.then guess what???he left me again and went to get a kids taco for people before me as he completely forgot about it.during this time 2 or 3 flies sat on my burrito and he waived his hand over it to scare them off.and then just continued to throw the veggies on it.i could not believe my eyes!are you guys serious.i pointed it out and he just like "oh do you want me to remake it?"that was a last straw for me...one single branch killed all franchise for me.if anyone from management can see it-guys you urgently need to do something about your stuff attitude!its absolutely unacceptable .

Just been to this place now and was served by two brain dead teenagers. My second time to eat mexican food so i wasnt familiar with the food ect. asked about certain dishes and just got a blank look. One of the guys that served me mumbles quietly and couldnt understand anything he said. Wasnt aware that certain dishes have a choice of fillings and wasnt told this, not to mention i was asked if i wanted this wanted that which i replied yes, then later found out they were extras which cost me a lot more on top of the price...this should have been stated when asked and was very miss leading!....Also i wanted to order a few things but told him the first then he just went off and made it without getting the full order first, so by the time everything was done, the first lot was flat cold. Asked for a burrito to be cut in half, the guy tried to use a great big blunt cutting knife and just squashed it to death, so when we opened it, it was just a complete mess, like it had been run over with a steam roller. Ordered the shrimp or prawn taco...the guy dropped it on the floor then just bent down and put it back in the tray! made another and when opened it, yes it was squashed and all over the place. Kids meal was disgusting and wouldnt give to a dog.......over all this place is just terrible.....i cant really blame the franchise as its the staff employed there who are useless and have no care at all.......i dont ever write a review about anything but im that pissed off i have to warn others........$55 spent and i might as well of just gave it away.......you have been warned!

You must stop making noise at midnight! There are residents living next door to you, we thought you were going to be better than Burger King but it looks like you have been worse! Before further action taken with noise control this is the only reminder to you.
