Review Roofed Cows Eatery - Mission Bay

Definitely a pleasant dinner with 5 star service and food quality. The superb standard was maintained from the moment we walked in to the time we checked out. The decorations are simple and neat. The wall of glass doors let more light come in, the whole restaurant is bright and cozy. The smiley staff was attentive and friendly. Anyway, amazing experience with Roofed Cows. Definitely will be back again:)

Came here for lunch with my family and it completely exceeded all of our expectations despite all of us having quite different tastes. - Restaurant is clean and well decorated. - Food is superbly prepared by an award-winning, world class chef but won't break the bank. Actually came across several types of food preparation I had never seen before and that I didn't know could be cooked or presented in such a manner. Enrich your palate and maybe learn something new! - Atmosphere is great, staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent. The eatery is based in the prime area of Mission Bay, but just out of the way enough to avoid all the crowds. And of course, being right near the beach it is perfectly located to go for a scenic walk afterwards to walk off some of that delicious food :D Will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes.

Exquisite food, creatively and meticulously arranged on each plate. Would recommend that you try a selection of small plates all of which were delicious and showed off the chef's skills to great effect. Service was attentive and the wines we chose were top class. Thanks to this family run restaurant for what was probably the best food we have had in Mission Bay over many visits.

I've been meaning to leave this review for a while and finally found the time. In October 2019 I spent a week in New Zealand and stayed at an Airbnb in mission bay. This restaurant was recommended to me and it was just as good as advertised. I went for breakfast on one of my last days and was no disappointed. Good coffee, good fresh food, and good service. If I lived in Auckland I would definitely go back. The owners are very friendly as well. I hope to go back someday!

Group of friends came to Roofed Cows Eatery for brunch on Matariki weekend. It wasn't crowded at all and no surcharges for public holiday!!!🥳 I had a delicious smashed avocado with piece of smoked salmon and poached eggs. Chef himself brought us food and made sure that we were happy.

Easily Mission Bay's top restaurant, such a welcome addition to the dining scene here. The owners are lovely and it is evident how much they care about their food and providing a memorable dining experience. The interior is homely, cosy, and comfortable. The food itself is a work of art, each part seems made by hand and thoughtfully combined resulting in the most amazing flavours. Definitely worth a try when wanting a special meal out or to impress your guests in Mission Bay. The Tuna Salad is a must try. Fresh and delicious.

We had chicken and mushroom claypot, steak, crepes and finished with baileys affogato. Everything was amazing. The place is great for family dining as well. It’s our first visit today, and surely will be back.

Finally tried this place and so glad we did. The gluten free galettes were delicious (had the Akaroa salmon and Anatolia) and a very generous serving. My husband, a coffee snob, thought the coffee was lovely, rich and well made. Very pleased and will make this our new local for coffee!

This was a new brunch place for us, upon entering the establishment, we were ignored until we grabbed our own menus and then we had someone approach us to seat us. They let us choose our own seats which was great.
The menu was simple and easy for us to select what we wanted. The food itself was delicious, just one our dishes, the Menemen was super salty, including the bread. I saw a previous review also complaining of saltiness as well. Perhaps less salt in the meal and customers can add salt if they wish?

At the beginning, we had a broken glass and they did not check on us at all until the food was served, so was not able to inform them. At the end, they kept on trying to clear our plates when we were not finished. I think just a better balance of service wouldve made our dining experience more enjoyable.

When we were paying, they were very patient with us while we sorted out our zomato gold which was great, highly appreciated.

3-star for this restaurant as they neither stood out as amazing nor were they terrible. A good place to stop by for brunch during the weekend :)

So close to the beach and with ample free parking. The interior of the restaurant was clean and relaxed. There’s outdoor seating, easterly facing which is perfect for the morning sun.
I only had a coffee here, but I’d like to try the food.
The service was quick and friendly.
The coffee was great.

Went here for brunch, I had avocado smash (wish the coriander had been mentioned on the menu) and my partner had potato hash. Food was good and the side of Bacon was amazing. Wish the dishes would have been served with 2 eggs so we wouldn't have had to order extra. Also would be great with a few kids options or even kid size fr the normal menu, my son had a crepe but the caramelised bananas were a bit boozy/strong flavoured for his liking. Good place overall.

Wonderful polite service, nothing was a problem, everything was delicious. Clean and simple setting.

Visited for the first and this restaurant is beautiful, classy and so well presented. Great location near the Mission Bay beach. The staff were excellent, warm and welcoming. Our waitress was very attentive and professional so the service was great. We've ordered eggs benedect, one with salmon and the other with mushroom (the owner kindly accommodated that option). Both dishes were delicious! Smoked salmon was a big piece of baked smoked salmon piece and bread wasn't your usual baguette but soft and buttery. Our coffees were exceptional and we are looking forward to bringing more friends and family to this place again soon. Higy recommended to all

Massive variety of foods, both sweet and savoury options are plentiful. Friendly staff, a large seating area and a fascinating interior design.

It's great to see such a good restaurant open up in Mission Bay. Had a lovely family dinner - the food is beautifully presented, very tasty and generous serving sizes. The staff were attentive and really nice. Definitely will be back! I had the most amazing tuna salad which was blended with incredible flavours. There were 5 of us and we were all delighted with our meals.

I recently ate here with a group of friends and was absolute amazed at the food that was served. We usually don't spend much on eating out as we are students but we decided to order the beef rib eye which was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. It's a huge meal which is well worth its price and I could honestly barely stand after eating that monster meal.
It's a a very nice eatery with a European feel to it, and since the menu has variety we also picked out some smaller menu items like the roasted cauliflower with hummus and some of the savoury pancakes they have. I will definitely come back for more with my parents and the location makes it an excuse to go out.

Also had some nice craft beer from Riverhead (Auckland), this was nice as this restaurant supports a lot of local producers, which is something I always try to look out for.

I usually don't leave reviews but after chatting to the staff I felt I had to show some appreciation for this family run, local NZ business 😊👍

We had a girls' lunch on Saturday here and were very impressed by very homely atmosphere, generous portion and great quality of food. I ordered tuna salad and banana crepe with vienna coffee and really enjoyed my lunch (did not have dinner that day as felt so full!))). The design of the place is very welcoming and the chance to try something different with very decent price - perfect choice for your lunch or dinner in this beautiful area by the sea. Certainly will come back for buckwheat galettes with Akaroa salmon, sounds so yum! :-)

I recently had a birthday party Function at Roofed Cows Eatery and the food and service was absolutely Devine.
The birthday cake was more like culinary art!!! We had a plate the size of a table and the Chefs had put it out live! An experience to remember 😍 I 100% recommend everyone to come for a dinning experience.
p.s. they also have the best crepes I’ve ever tried 🤤

The food took 20-30mins to come out, or even longer. There wasnt that many ppl here that day. They also waited for a long time. I ordered the chicken salad, salmon salad and tuna salad and the meatballs pasta meal. Starteds brioche with oil. Brioche was nice and fresh. But went down hill from here. The chicken salad was way too salty! I asked have another one and was quickly replaced with and even salter one. I told manage there that its still salty. She wasnt happy at me complaining and said she doesnt know what the chef put in it. She even said he only replaced the chicken but not the salad! And den didnt offer me a refund or nothing. The salmon salad was also salty and top it off salmon was not fresh! Tuna salad oml wasnt fresh either! So lucky we didnt get a tummy bug. Meatballs was tad on salty side as well. Please do not come in here and comment that you serve fresh because you dont! When i wen to pay on firsttable there was no apology no discount no nothing. We wont be dining here ever again! Also pictures look lovely but tasted terrible!

Nice new restaurant opened in mission bay. Environment is nice and food quality is good, all the dishes are delicious. Service friendly but a bit slow
I think the restaurant is a bit too big for this new restaurant. The food took an hour to fully arrive and there were only 3 tables. The flavours on some dishes were amazing. The patte is highly recommended. Scallops were a bit bland and boring. Tuna was very ok. Zucchini was bloody delicious could do a bit more mince so the sauce doesn’t taste so much like from a jar. Lamb and steak were very nice. Dessert crepes are great for people that wanna finish off feeling bloated.

I wish them the best and hopefully service can be faster as time comes. Friendly just slow.

Service: 3/5
Environment: 4/5
Presentation: 4.5/5
Food Quality: 4/5
Food Quantity: 4/5
Price per person: $40-$60

A warm and cozy restaurant situated on a quite street of Mission Bay.

Homey decor and welcoming staff. Great for a semi-casual night outs. Food was at the fine dining level.

For entree, we ordered the seared scallop and the chicken galletes. The scallop was tender and blended in well with the rhubarb purée and the cooked mandarin, however the portion was a little small even for an entree. The chicken galletes was nice, the crepe was soft and full of flavors. Massive portions too.

For main, we ordered an eye fillet, a smoked salmon salad and a cauliflower side. The steak was cooked perfectly, very rich and juicy with a delicious black pepper creme sauce. The caramelized onions were quite different and tasted well with the steak. The salmon was slightly smoked and blended in nicely with the sweetness of the salad. The roasted cauliflower crispy but juicy topped with a nice hummus. All the mains had a good portions of food.

The waitress serving us seemed novice but she was very nice. Moderate waiting time on the dishes.

The table and tableware seemed a bit temporal and were not very matching. If some sophistication and uniformity was added to designing, it would definitely bring the restaurant to the next level.

Unfortunately we were too full after the mains, but would definitely be keen to try out the desserts next time!

Taste: 9.5/10
Presentation: 8/10
Service: 8.5/10
Ambience: 8/10
Value for money: 9/10

Price $50 per person excl alcohol
