Review Riverside Cafe - Motueka

Amazing lunch we had the souffle and beetroot tart. Delicious. Coffee is superb. Only open on Fridays. One of the best cafes anywhere. Plus the grounds are incredible and there's some very big tame eels in the stream.

One of my favorite places ! Jester house has everything you would want in a café/restaurant : great coffee, the food is fresh, homemade and delicious ; the gardens and inside decorations are theme-oriented, beautiful and so peaceful. You even get to see eels in the little river ! The hosts Steve and Judy are friendly and welcoming, the staff and service are top quality. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place !

Lovely interesting place with good food.

What an awesome cafe! We loved the setting, the quirky and delightful installations and the overall feel. The champagne afternoon tea was superb. Never had better. Surprisingly good savoury, unbelievablely beautiful sweets and wonderfully warm and soft scones with cream and jam. Top that off with a glass of kiwi sparkling wine and a lovely cup of tea and it's a pretty much perfect way to spend an afternoon. Service was perfect with friendly staff members making sure everything was right. Can't go wrong! The Eels are very cool too!

A ‘landmark’ in the local area and a fun place for the whole family! Lovely indoor/outdoor settings with lots of activities for the kids (wooden-carved jungle playground, games and even feeding the eels)! The lamb salad was nice. An enjoyable first time visit!

Beautiful lunch today, the food was amazing, I had the BLAT which was flavourful and filling, the bread was extremely fresh and perfectly salted. The chutney was to die for and I with I could have taken some with me! The home made lemonade was really nice and had a very traditional rate to it. The iced chocolate could of used more overall liquid, it was in a small glass and was mostly filled with ice cream so it turned into more of a dessert than a drink. The eels were really cool to and feeding them was pretty cool also. The overall atmosphere was amazing very calm and peaceful with heaps of places for the kids to run around and explore! Overall I love with this place and hope I will have the chance to come back some day!!

The gardens were awesome Spend some time wandering around looking at the sculptures, beds of flowers, trees etc. Pet eels too Thankyou to all involved in the upkeep of this beautiful venue

This was a very nice stop on our way from Able Tasman NP to Nelson and I highly recommend everyone to plan a stop here. We enjoyed delicious sea food, wine, good coffee and nice freshly baked cakes. The place itself has a lot to explore and is perfect especially for kids with the huge playground and the eels which you can feed. The outside sitting area is so relaxed and the local staff makes you feel at home. Thank you :)

An amusing cafe with charm and quirk. Here you can get a wide range of drink and food, send the kids off to enjoy the playset they have and if you want they will even give you food for the tame eels that live in the river.

An absolute gem, and a must do in the Tasman district, Jester House Café not only exudes charm through it's garden, setting and tame eels, the good is excellent. Well worth a diversion off the main road.

A great wee find in the back roads of Motueka. Great coffee, good value for money food and fabulous setting. Loved the point of difference Cactus House and Bonsai. A must visit.

This is the only place to eat this side of Tasman bay, the best food i've tasted in a long time

No place quite like it. The food is gorgeous, delicious and healthy. Portions are generous and the atmosphere very welcoming. It’s our favourite cafe in the region by a long shot.

Great food, great place, great time. The only problem was my partner's meal was so good that anything I cook at home will not be on par with it �

When there for my friend birthday. The staff there was excellent for helping to surprising my friend with the cake! Cafe had a lovely environment with playground and cactus�The lunch menu "fish of the day" are highly reccomended from me!

One of the most pleasant cafe environments I've ever been in, with all kinds of little nooks and crannies, matched by excellent food and coffee as good as Mazagran. What more can I say? Oh, the service is fabulous too!!
