Review Circus Circus - Mount Eden

Kyeong eun Kim
I’ve been here last weekend with my son. Here is good place when you are not so much hungry, but need to feed your family. Haha. I like the car park at the rear and kids friendly atmosphere. Also there is a small playground the back of the store. For foods, Hot dog was nice, especially newyork hot dog, and kids pasta is not too salty and just right flavor for your kids. But my son doesn’t like it. He only ate chips and orange juice. I am recommend to come here again!

Wow!! Fabulous fun and friendly! If you're looking for great food, amazing decor, and fantastic fun, look no further! Loved the experience, food, and service! A must try in Mt Eden!

Really really good. Service was absolutely the best, going out of their way way to help. Very friendly and so kind to our 2 year old. Food delicious, the hash brown was banging!

Always a good place to pop into for lunch or a quick coffee. The food cabinet is always well stocked and full of different choices. I took a Louise slice home, it took me two days to eat it, it was a big slice!

Hetal was a very friendly and nice staff, please come and say hello to her anytime 🤩🤩

Great atmosphere and so much seating! The food is a bit pricey but the serving sizes are huge. We got the smoked salmon eggs benedict and mushrooms on toast and both were delicious! I think it's the best mushrooms on toast I've ever had 😋

We loved this please, we ordered our food, it came quickly even though the place was packed. The drinks arrived just few minutes before the brunch, which is a miracle in this country, so we were able to eat and have our hot drinks at the same time. The waiter was super friendly and he came by to check if everything was okay a couple of times. The food itself was super tasty and you can tell it‘s homemade. Definitely recommend it!!!

Amazing food! Great portion sizes. The mushroom stroganoff was delicious, and my poached eggs were perfectly runny. Will definitely be coming back :)

Circus circus is my local. It’s the place we celebrate family birthdays for breaky. It’s where I start my day. The people and the coffee are outstanding. Mamune is the best barista in Auckland and Marisa is the very accomplished front of house hostess. Can’t get enough of this place!
Chris Serweta
Best place for a food or just simply a cup of best coffee in the area. Unique atmosphere. You can meet with friends or just read the book in the side gallery. ...peanut butter moose... the best!!!!!!!!
Robert Klink
The service was great! Our order came through quickly and all of the servers were very friendly. The food was delicious. We had one of the salad and burger dishes. If you like circuses, the atmosphere is just for you.

I didn’t take pictures of the food we had because they were just quick bites and a cup of hot chocolate 🍫 I LOVED their egg frittata bakery bite 💯& zucchini muffin was good too. Lovely ambience, great service with all smiles, quick at service too and I believe their other menu options would be decent too. I look forward to going there for breakfast sometime soon.

Hetal was amazing on her service and I’d definitely come back again 😘

The place is funky and atmosphere and service was really good. The waiter and waitresses is very friendly. The food was not bad and was no extra ordinary as well. Overall experience was awesome but if the food taste a bit better with flavour then it would be a 5 star for me
Lauren Trim
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and excellent service! Would definitely recommend!
Liliana Mawer
I had the zucchini capsicum frittata and the mango and banana smoothie. They were delicious and the service was good.

Our go to place for the past few months Marisa is the sweetest! Wonderful hospitality and food.

I found this cafe on a "best panckes in Auckland article" and was really excited to go for the pancakes. I assumed it would be busy so I called to make a reservation. The staff were lovely but when we arrived they didn't have our reservation. We were told to just sit where ever we wanted and someone would come along with a menu. 5 minutes later no menu. We walked up to the counter and got our own which is fine because I understand that it was busy. Another 10 minutes later still no staff had come to our table to check if we needed anything so we went up to the counter to order. The lady that served up was nice. We got our food and our coffee in good time but the food was not good and we didn't eat much of it at all. Instead I asked for my coffee in a take away cup and left. Really annoyed we payed so much for a bad experience when there are loads of cheaper better cafes.

Very disappointed with our experience this morning. My partner and I came in for breakfast. Food took over 45 minutes to come out. No staff communication. Staff were actively avoiding eye contact and assisting us. When the food finally came it was fine but underwhelming and tasteless. Coffee was very subpar. When we went to the counter to pay staff walked past and did not serve us. We had to flag them down and ask if we could pay. Overall very poor service, I would not recommend.

Happy Hello Team, Hope you are doing great. I was excited to be at Circus Circus for the first time yesterday on the Valentine Day with my wife.We loved the atmosphere and ordered Pasta of the Day and Chicken Breast Roasted. It took 30 minutes for the order to come and were advised that it takes around 25 minutes to prepare it only when we asked. It would have been great if the right expectation was set at the very start about the time. I enjoyed the chicken breast but my wife didn't like the pasta as it was not what she expected. The waiter had advised that it was going be pasta sauce and vegetarian but oh well. I decided to call out for help and asked to 'order' a chicken burger as she was hungry. The waitress saw the plate full of pasta and asked 'Did you not like it' to which we gave our verdict. She offered it to be 'replaced' with chicken burger and we nodded yes and our pasta was taken away. Then the manager came around and asked if we were told correctly by the host waiter about the ingredients to which we advised yeah he may have missed one of the parts. He confirmed with the waiter and advised that he did tell us about each ingredient. To sum it up, I illuminated to the manager that we never originally asked it to be 'replaced' but actually ordered another chicken burger. So , i am not disappointed with the food or even the wait service. Confusion was there and i am not the one to blame the restaurant for everything . I just think since our pasta was taken away with the original intent of replacing it whey were we charged for that ? Shouldn't it have been taken off the bill maybe as a courtesy for the confusion ?

So we booked for 730pm, we arrived at the counter where we were made to just wait whilst the waitress attempted to put a cookie in a paper bag which BTW took forever. We were then seated, we all ordered the Sunday roast, we were then told they were out of the Sunday roast, I ordered steak I asked for it medium rear and it was roar and cold in the middle, I sent it back, about 20 minutes later it was brought back out (the same piece of steak) cooked to sh#t and put back on the same plate, it was at this point I becided this is fowl and we left. Really disappointing, no apology, just pure crap at its best....

This is my favourite cafe in Mount Eden! Staff are always super friendly and attentive and the coffee is always perfect. If you are going for dinner I highly recommend the chicken burger and a sneaky banoffee pie YUM!

Great place to take kids, they loved the colouring competition. Food is great too, kids dine for free even better :) 5 star from me

My fist time at Circus Circus. Food was lovely and the staff very friendly. They didn’t rush us and we were able to stay chatting after we finished eating. Would definitely go there again.
Amanda Assink
We had our social club function this evening, mid winter Christmas theme. The service was great (Thank you Dominic!!) and the food was fabulous! Thanks so much for a wonderful night!!

Absolutely loved the cafe, the best latte coffee I’ve had in a long time, super pleasant atmosphere, a beautifully well presented cafe, will definitely visit again 👌🏼

Went to lunch today with relatives.I loved the food (very a la carte) and the atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff who made out day memorable.

very nice meal. i recommend this to everybody. Awesome!

Was there on Sat night to help celebrate a 16th birthday. Food was great, staff friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend Circus Circus.
CARO CONSUMES
It’s just extremely average. Not as special as the decoration would suggest.
Teresa Kaori
Circus Circus has always been my favourite hang out place in Auckland. I always come here for brunch and seldom for dinner but tonight I came here for dinner and ordered pasta of the day from the menu. Creamy fettuccine with mushrooms and capsicums was yummylicious. Not a dairy fan myself but the pasta was just nice for me 👍
Love B
The food has always been good. I visited after a long time. The service has been tremendously improved. Avneet and Sashant provided exceptional customer service. Avneet makes amazing coffee every single time. 😍 Super friendly and courteous! Highly recommended! ❤️

Arrived 10mins before kitchen close with a group of 7. Staff were more than happy to serve us, even though they had to stay a little longer. Food was amazing and the staffs attitude was very good, especially the waiter, he opened the extension area for us to sit as we were a larger group. Food came really fast and was delicious. 10/10 from me.
MCP
unique interior and friendly service! coffee was great too! peanut butter mousse a little bit too strong for my taste but their carrot cake was beautiful!
Boty
Great place to have a coffee after 4! They serve coffee all afternoon. Good service, good food, great coffee. What else would you ask for? Always returning!
Renie
I love the ambience and atmosphere here. It’s a very nice place to chill and relax and just chat with friends! We ordered the banoffee and peanut butter mousse. The banoffee was really good but the peanut butter mousse was way to sweet for me. They were also on the pricey side. Would like to return to try other things!
Nicole
Don’t like the salmon in it. The rest are good.
Brad Vidovich
Best coffee and service, staff are warm and friendly and know your order as soon as you walk in

Unfortunately I think this place survives on its location. The coffee is okay, nothing amazing.<br/>The cabinet food is pretty consistent although there are definitely some things that should be moved along.<br/><br/>The cooked food, no, just no. Had the most average completely cold eggs bene of my life, and shared a plate of very average pancakes. For $48 for 2 plates of food and 2 small coffees. Not to mention the pancakes were supposed to come with fairy floss etc (bit of an overdone trend but anyway) and instead came with a smattering of blueberries and fake maple syrup, with 2 random marshmallows on the side. And no explanation or apology for the missing items.<br/><br/>It's a shame, because the service and location are amazing but the food is a serious let down when there are so many amazing cafes to choose from around.
Shane Hickmore
Circus Circus used to have great baristas. Last time I went the takeaway Flat White I got was so over done I couldn't even sip it for 30 minutes. Most insanely boiling coffee I have ever had. Never going back.
Aggiedude82 !
Great home cooked meal, large portions<br/>5 stars<br/>We found this place on one of the review pages and decided to try it out, since it was close to Mt. Eden. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. It was fresh food, huge portions (enough to be able to split a meal). Staff was friendly and walked us through everything there. We opted to sit on the front porch, and were able to see the runners and walkers walking by in the morning. The place is also dog friendly. Although I don’t like clowns or circus’, I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a big hearty breakfast.

Nice coffee and great tasting cakes, in the heart of Mt Eden and is a great spot. they have been around for ever and have never disappointed after the multiple times I have gone
Lucy
An one of the kind cafe/eatery, open from early morning to last evening. <br/><br/>Very busy place but with the friendly and attentive staff, food were pretty quick to serve.<br/><br/>Ordered a big breakfast and a New York hotdog. The bacon, hash brown and sourdough was very nice, but the sausage was too salty and the mushroom was a bit bland, the peas were a bit dry and I could taste the vinegar within the pouches eggs. The hotdog was tasty, but a little over flavored.<br/><br/>Their coffee and dessert was amazing. Ordered a flat white and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was soft and not overly sweet. Latte art on the coffee could be improved.<br/><br/>Taste: 7/10<br/>Presentation: 7/10<br/>Service: 9/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>Value for money: 7/10<br/><br/>Price $25 per person<br/>

Creative decor and environment really nice. Service is good and friendly. Drinks and food are all tasty, have a outside sitting area at back

I took my family to dinner on Saturday and it was just great. Loved the fun setting, comfortable and not loud so we could hear each other. The staff were fun and attentive. All our meals were presented beautifully and the taste was the same.  I loved the look of the cakes but we were too full to try, but we will make a point of trying when back in Auck.

Went here for Sunday breakfast and ordered sloppy joe, yummy and delicious. I love the food and the ambience. Definitely will come back soon

Came here on a freezing weekday night. We were seated instantly and found that they had heaters and blankets ready for people to use which was great. Staff were so friendly, food was delicious. Would definitely come back to try some desserts

I visited this beautiful cafe with my best friend and it provided us a cozy atmosphere to enjoy our brunch and coffee, and of course, conversation.<br/>The any-style-egg was average with clean presentation and well-toasted breads. I added bacon to my dish and it was really good. Coffee was made great and I will definitely come back again.

Awesome coffee. You get the best coffee of Auckland. There are 3-4 good cafes in Auckland I used to prefer the most until I walked in to Circus cafe. Dinner and desserts are also good, but highly recommended for coffee. All the Mocha lovers in town, please do visit. Ask for a barista named Sashank, he's a great barista. Will post coffee pic when I visit there next time.
Rachmac430
A couple of years ago I came here with a friend and sadly swore to never come back.. I’m a dessert person and I couldn’t even finish 1 of the 3 desserts we chose to share because they were gelatinous with poor flavour. Recently I tried a coffee here again with a friend and it was seriously quite bad too, unsure how coffee can go so wrong but it certainly did
Keith Eades
We rocked up for lunch, I was quite surprised how busy it was considering it was a weekday.<br/><br/>Had to wander around to find a table, loved looking at the clown theme everywhere in all the little dining alcoves.<br/><br/>Was promptly served by patient staff, while I whittled my choice down.<br/><br/>We all enjoyed our respective meals, and drinks.<br/><br/>Would like to experience a evening meal next time !

One early morning while having our joy ride looking for somewhere to have breakfast we discovered this circus themed restaurant in the corner of Mt Eden Rd and Ngauruhoe St . There were lots of cafes in this area but this place caught our attention the most as it was packed with lots of people. The moment we saw this we never thought twice we just looked for a parking space.

Having been to circus circus before for the awesome banoffee we ventured in tonight (wet n cold Sunday) to grab a late night dessert. We asked for recommendations and the young guy behind the counter proceeded to say everythings popular. We were after a recommendation and he suggested the chocolate cake which he then took out of the cabinet for us to see. Now the issue I have is the back handed smart mouth comments I could here like we were just looking as of we weren't going to buy anything and waste his time.<br/>Sorry but being able to hear your smart mouth from behind the counter I did not want to go off at the guy in front of a busy shop. As seen I still made a purchase despite this staff member assuming I was wasting his time.<br/><br/>It is important in my opinion to be helpful with a recommendation so that the customer Can have a good experience. But not tonight.<br/><br/>Banoffee 5/5<br/>Brownie 3/5<br/>Service 1/5

Quite expensive but really good food. My friend and I got the pancakes and the mushroom eggs bennedict both very good. Wanted to get some of their dessert selection

The place has a nice atmosphere but it can get crowded fast. The desserts were good as well as their coffee. However, for a 4$ plus a cup of coffee I was expecting a bigger size and cakes were a bit pricey too. A variety of food/desserts/coffee available. Staff was accomodating.
Alison
I ordered the burger and it was almost inedible. I ended up just eating the fries and the beef patty in the end. For 22$ it was a complete waste of money. My friend ordered the fish n chips for 28$ and it was also horrible as the fish was a burnt. The staff was pretty accommodating at first but in the end they were kinda unwelcoming, as they were watching our group telling us to quieten down, when we weren’t even being too loud. It felt like we were in school and a teacher was watching us. Not a pleasing environment to have. Wouldn’t come back here again. Overpriced and inedible.

Food: 5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Ambiance: 5/5<br/><br/>A few of us came here for dessert, we ordered their banoffee pie, tiramisu and chocolate cake. Their banoffee pie is amazing! Highly recommended!<br/><br/>Had a really good chat with their staff/owner/manager about offering a dessert platter! It's so hard to choose what to order because of all their amazing options they have in the cabinet. I really look forward to seeing this on the menu one day!

We had planned a celebration dinner and thought this place sounded great! I had read some positive reviews, so amped up my colleagues for the night… which was… a mistake. <br/><br/>We had made a booking for four adults at around 6pm – so fairly early. We also booked around two weeks in advanced, which you would only assume to be ample time to reserve us a suitably sized table.<br/><br/>I was shocked when we turned up, got placed on a round table against a wall, that should really only comfortably sit two people? There were several other larger tables free, which were not booked as we heard people walk in and ask for tables off the street (Social media influencers)<br/><br/>We ordered a few drinks, and then left, as there was not enough room on the table for food, let alone a few drinks. <br/><br/>I don’t feel like the staff valued our business. We felt we were shoved into a corner and not looked after at all. Not to mention four people on a round table, with one side of the table against a wall? That makes absolutely no sense to me.<br/><br/>One of the staff tried to joke with us about being so fast, but we all left thinking the only joke was the service :)
David
Hadn’t visited here in ages, Frasers was chocker down the road so tried our luck here. Lucky to grab one of the few remaining tables with bonus gas heater close by. Enjoyed the eggs bennie with hash browns and bacon, awesome coffee and friendly (table) service. With fearce competition in the village it’s good to see this icon of the cafe scene still on top of its game.
Christopher Chew
Every now and then my friends and I visit Circus Circus for desserts and coffee. Although on numerous occasions, we’ve been rudely confronted by staff who try to insist that the 4 of us squeeze into a small 2 seater table, most recently by Johnny. That would be acceptable during busy hours as cakes aren’t a high paying item, however all the times we’ve been shooed from the larger tables are during off-peak hours. <br/><br/>Cakes are good, coffee is decent, service, nah...<br/><br/>I’d say the change of management has not been good for circus circus.
Trazy M Lata
Came here for lunch, the staff were absolutely hilarious and funny and had great conversations with us. We got the mac and cheese potato mushroom dish with the egg removed, and a side of fries, chocolate frappe and a coffee. The food was delicious, the mac and cheese could have need a little bit more salt but that is nothing to fault. The frappe was so delicious that I had to order 2. The man that made it was absolutely fantastic and had great banter. The banofee pie was very yum. :)
Lila Broome
Had the truffle Mac n cheese and it was rather underwhelming, not the creamiest or the hugest taste of truffle. Bit disappointed. Good coffee thought and lovely staff.
Charel
Been here twice, and really love their chicken wings, would be great if they also have this in their lunch menu. Hotdogs and cakes are really delicious too and is big. Great weekend vibe!
Nicole Naucabalavu
Amazing and fast service, delicious food (I wiped my plate clean lol) and warm, vibrant atmosphere! I love that you could go in winter as they have warm heaters and blankets available! So good!
Emily Gossen
Came here for brunch and will definitely be back again. We got the eggs Benedict, big breakfast and a iced latte and hot chocolate. It was quite busy when we arrived, we had to find our own table and it took a while to get a waiters attention. The food was really good and reasonable priced, and came so quick also. Staff were really friendly and attentive once we were seated. The whole cafe is circus themed, with some cool decor. :)<br/><br/>Food - 9/10<br/>Service - 9/10<br/>Ambience - 8/10
FoodieBeast
Good busy cafe. The coffee was good and the food was good as well.<br/><br/>The staff were friendly however the only downfall was the wait on the food. However, it's not something that'll stop us from coming back
Jack Food
If you ask me where can buy best carrot cake in Auckland I will tell you circus circus. I promise it is the best. 15 years ago I moved to Auckland from Christchurch, my friend brought me here. 15 years past, we were still here to have our cake and coffee.
Fangzhou Zhao
Came here for the first time for lunch today and they were packed. The menu was simple but the food tasted good. The service was perfect from all staff.

Been going here for a few years now ☑️.<br/><br/>The owner is a real happy chappy 😊, and loves to talk.<br/><br/>Ordered the sage chicken & the bacon/fettuccine pasta the last time we went there, and it didn't disappoint.<br/><br/>I must also add that the dessert :<br/>Crunchie bar cheesecake & peanut butter mousse are a must have 🍰🍫<br/><br/>A little downside is, when I went to a friend's party we were around 20 of us... And when it came time to paying it had to be a lumsum (total amount) as the owner didn't want to take individual payments. So that was a bit odd ❌<br/><br/>Plus do not ever get the "Hot Chocolate" from here. Its shocking. I've had better hot chocolate at home from a Cadbury tin.<br/><br/>Other than that, the ambience & staff are lovely.<br/>And finding a car park can get a bit tricky as it is in the heart of Mt Eden 😊.<br/><br/>Ambience : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Staff : ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Food : ⭐⭐⭐<br/>Price : ⭐⭐⭐
Alexis Manders
Food was pretty delicious I must say! Highlights being the hash brown and smoked salmon! But the service was extremely disappointing; never had the same waitress/waiter and there were so many staff but never any around to take your order. And a few of our orders were messed up. We waited 10 minutes for a menu, and ended up walking out after looking at the dessert menu for 20 minutes with nobody taking our order for them
Kita Parshotam
Have been a fan of this place for many years and like to go as often when given the chance. Very disappointed i had to ask for water after waiting almost 25 minutes. Ordered a banoffee pie and berry pie and both were basically made of cream (at least 10cm in height) with no flavor. Disappointed.
Lia
Banoffee Pie is a must-try and the tiramisu was pleasant but please do not try the mango panna cotta😢😢 Panna cotta tasted like plastic and couldn’t taste anything from the mango...
João Plácido
The Circus Circus stands out for its outside design and colours and we decided to check if it was as good as everyone too us....and we were not disappointed.<br/>Awesome atmosphere with everything reminding us of the Circus of old.<br/>Top shelf costumer service and our Ricotta pancakes and the big top breakfast were pretty good.<br/>If you want to try a different place this is the spot to go.
Vivian C
We came here as a party of 3 with a First Table reservation. We ordered the Sloppy Joe Hot Dog, Spicy Chicken Wings, Whole Baked Brie, The Italian Stallion Pizza, Charred Broccoli, Curly Fries, Tiramisu, and Crunchie Bar Cheesecake, which ended up being a perfect amount for us.<br/><br/>The table we were allocated was only designed to fit 2 people so it was a bit inconvenient as we didn’t have much table room for all the food, plates and drinks, although the manager explained to us that their bigger tables were all occupied.<br/><br/>My favourite dishes were hands-down the broccoli w/ garlic and almonds and the whole baked brie. We all unanimously agreed that the broccoli was the best dish as the broccoli was cooked to perfection and the dressing was just divine. The brie was a concept we were all intrigued to try and the fig element really made the dish extraordinary. Unfortunately all the other dishes were nice, but nothing spectacular. The desserts were delicious upon the first few bites but ended up being a bit too rich to finish.<br/><br/>Service was very friendly and welcoming and the interior was very unique. However, I cannot write this review without leaving out a comment about the toilet. Very spacious but was definitely the most uncomfortable experience I’d ever had as sounds of clown laughter echoed through the speakers and I felt quite disturbed. Let’s just say that this was definitely the quickest toilet trip I’ve taken.

Late Saturday lunch brought my partner and I (yes just 2 of us) to Circus Circus. It was also recently after their clown was stolen, which I hope they have had further progress into its investigation! <br/><br/>We got Big Breakfast, Wakanui Steak Sandwich, Eggs Bene w/ Salmon and Circus Salad w/ Halloumi. The waiter was kind of surprised at the amount of food we ordered but we assured him we will finish it all (and we did). <br/><br/>Portions sizes are really good here, and food came out together. <br/><br/>- Big Breakfast (9/10) a classic hearty blokey dish, this is exactly what it was! Everything was cooked perfectly e.g. portobello mushrooms and hash cakes, and wholesomely generous! Loved the baked beans too to pull everything together too <br/><br/>- Wakanui Steak Sandwich (9/10) nice juicy cut of meat subtly garnished with caramelised onion, cheese and one piece of lettuce. Would’ve liked to see a bit more lettuce in that though. The meat itself was nicely cooked to medium. But felt like still lacking in punch.<br/><br/>- Eggs Bene (10/10) I’m a big fan of hash cake with eggs Benedict. The eggs here are bigger than most cafes, cooked to perfection. The yolk oozes out and pours over the hash cakes and it was amazing paired with hollandaise sauce. Salmon is smoked really well too. Full of flavour! <br/><br/>- Circus Salad (7/10) a nice refreshing salad to compliment our other dishes with pomegranate, grapes, kumara and quinoa. However it was still a bit leafy for that price, and I think more quinoa or something more “solid” would make it a more wholesome salad. You don’t want to just be paying for a bowl of leaves after all. Also needs some salad dressing to pull the leaves together.<br/><br/>Service was slow at the start and we had to wave our hands a few times to get attention to order. Feels like some staff are more friendly than others, with a bit of preconceived judging going on. I would come back just for their cabinet desserts though! <br/>We were left really full and satisfied! <br/><br/>Food: 9/10 <br/>Price: 8/10<br/>Service: 7.5/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/><br/>

Great service the staff are always friendly. The desserts here are always delicious and good portion size. Breakfast menu is great and tasty. The Sunday roast is really good and a generous portion.
Abi Mitchell
Great food, friendly staff, quick service and the coffee is really good. One of my favourite places to go. Definitely recommend. I think this is one of the only cafes I’ve been to that knows how to serve an Americano properly too!
Cam2761
Awesome place with even better food. The customer service was exceptional! Had the steak meal, my partner had the fried chicken and we were both completely satisfied! Would visit again so that we can try the other meals and desserts!
Tim Li
I have been here many times, every time it is busy but the service is good. The desserts are the best! I wish we lived closer, but it's a nice to visit every time we travel to the city.
Saasha
This place is a little bit pricey. <br/><br/>But in saying that, the deco is amazing and the cakes are huge!<br/><br/>Always come here for coffee and cake and never disappointed. The crunchie cheesecake is a winner!
Nicole Mae Flores
Always have a good experience when dining at Circus Circus Cafe. Even when busy, they are able to acknowledge us even if we came in the side of the cafe. We were seated promptly and taken cared of well. We used the gold membership deal when we came here. We ordered a salmon benedict, bacon benedict and their pancakes. All tasted amazing and was served quickly. We would definitely be back again for the desserts as it all looks so amazing!!<br/><br/>Overall,<br/>Food 5/5<br/>Service 6/5<br/>Ambience 4/5

Good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Tasty but not groundbreaking food. Had the steak sammy and a few hotdogs and chips between us. No complaints. Nice decor. Friendly staff. Selection of easy to access standard sauces for you condiment folks. Easy to access water.

Came here for breakfast with a friend. We both really enjoyed the Star of the Show dish. Fairly expensive but it was cooked very well (see photo of cut open poached egg, cooked excellently). You could tell the ingredients were of high quality, and the flavours stood out and were tasty. <br/><br/>The drinks were not particularly anymore special than other cafes, but were affordable (by cafe standards) and generous in size. <br/><br/>Service was fantastic, attentive, present, but not “annoying”. <br/><br/>I personally don’t feel comfortable paying so much for meal regularly (on my budget), but I genuinely felt like I fairly paid for good quality food here, and I was not disappointed :) <br/><br/>Recommended.<br/><br/>(Zomato Gold helped me decide to take the plunge and try this place)
James
Staffs were very friendly, the service was excellent and the food was good! We ordered the fish and eye fillet. Definitely will recommend to friends and come back.
Karen
Come here regularly for coffee and cake. Their cakes are quite expensive but also get a very large portion so ends up being well worth the price! The atmosphere is also really cool - literally like a circus, who doesn't love a circus!! P.S their banoffee pie and crunchie cheesecake are 👌🏾
Celani Atienza
Circus circus never disappoints its customers. Aside from having friendly, fast and reliable service- food was good! It was bit pricey but i used my zomato gold - my friend and i shared two mains, 2 sodas and a dessert for $25 each. <br/>Would definitely come back and recommend to friends.. plus having such a big space for its customers to choose their desired table is a plus as well.. we had a shared long table overlooking the main street at mount eden.
Selina
The food, the vibe, the services, coffee were all perfect. The only let down was I found out the Zomato Gold discount was falsely given to the third and fifth dishes instead of the second and fourth dishes. Could have got a five star rating.
MayLing Nguyen
Very friendly customer service. Banoffee bie was thick, creamy, outstanding. The portion is very sizeable and can even be shared between two. Will definitely be back to try some of the other desserts.

Lovely experience, great place for family.. pleasantly surprised when my 3 yr old daughter was greeted with some colors when we arrived to keep her engaged..food and service were top notch too.. definitely recommend.

I had dinner here a few nights ago and had such a fantastic experience! I got the Mac and cheese side, fish of the day for main, and my partner got the rump steak with chicken bits for a starter! I found the Mac and cheese near perfect, although I would have liked the cheese on top to have been a little more cooked. The fish was perfect, and my boyfriends steak was so perfectly cooked he nearly didn’t need a knife at all to slice through it. Will definitely be back!

We often come here and enjoy the food. So if I could I would give the place 4 stars based on food alone- BUT the last 2 times we have had issues with service. We overlooked the first time as the staff was training, so I won’t mention details- but this time staff wanted to seat us next to loud kitchen when we had 2 babies with us, then watched us struggle to carry the pram up their stairs to where the high chair and kids toys are with no offer of help, to then be seated and told they would bring menus, but didn’t- when we asked again a customer next to us gave us theirs. Their table then got served before us when we had been there before them. We felt like an inconvenience just because we had our kids with us. Then we came to pay and they overcharged us- forgot to take the zomato gold meal off, but did sort it and gave a refund of that meal. I’m going to think twice before choosing Circus circus again.

Portions are huge! Don’t come here if you’re on a diet and a cake lover. Love the food and atmosphere and opened relatively late. The banoffee pie is so delicious.

Nice cafe, especially the decor - very distinctive. This cafe has always been busy all the time so expect a queue when you go there. Staff are very friendly and service is super super fast. We got all our food within 10mins since we placed the order even though it was super busy. The pancake is soooo good, sweet & sour, & just right with some streaky bacon. The New York New York hotdog is just normal tho. In general, I still recommend this place. Will go there next time to try some of their deserts too as so many people have been talking about how good their deserts are over all those years :)
Mary
My boyfriend and I both got the steak this evening with mushrooms sauce and it was absolutely fantastic! Very pleasantly surprised! Thanks guys!

I have been coming here for about 10 years now, usually for late night desserts. This place is always lovely with nice vibes at night. I love their tiramisu and the ganache on the chocolate cake is the best I've had anywhere!<br/>I remember when i was 12, I used to run down the road just for the chocolate and banoffee cakes! The recipe seems to be unchanged and I am very happy about that.<br/><br/>I do remember on one occasion, the caramel in the banoffee pie was biscuit hard- very disappointing but most the time its smooth or chewy. I personally love the smoothness, but the flavour is always good. I hope I never get a hard caramel in my banoffee again!<br/><br/>Otherwise, I love it :)

I’ve been to this place multiple times. The food and coffee is always on point and the staff are great. Highly recommend. The place itself is fun and circus themed.

Food so good. Definitely worth it and will come back for more to try other food. Ambiance is also so great, spacious and well maintained. Highly recommended!

Busy cafe for a Friday night dinner, lovely ambience & friendly staff, however be prepared to wait for food if they are busy! Dessert options in the cabinet look Devine.

Service staff were really friendly however they have strange restrictions around using Zomato gold benefits. We has the tiramisu and Black Forest and it was quite a waste of calories :(

Can't fault it...fantastic service and the food was cooked to perfection...so very yummy!! Special mention for the Southern Fried Chicken - simply delicious 😋

Circus circus is always a happening place and we love it, from the vibe to its food.<br/><br/>This time we ordered mushroom on toast and it was different to what we had previously(not to mention it was AMAZING last time). The flavours lacked and the service was not upto the point as food arrived after 50mins. <br/><br/>Hygiene wise tables were dirty and so was the other furniture. We had requested a high chair for our daughter, though never got until the food hit the table. One of the server was courteous enough to apologise for the wait.<br/><br/>Food - 3 stars<br/>Service - 2 stars<br/>Value for money - 3 stars<br/>Cleanliness - 2 stars

The food was great. Very busy cafe, but got all the service needed. The flat white was nice. Good service, Enjoyed the visit. Appreciated gold membership for my brunch menu :)

The minute steak sandwiches with caramelised onion jam were very tasty. If you like your cheese melted on your sandwich, you may need to ask. Cappuccino was very nice. Mixed my own mimosa. Welcoming, friendly staff. Had to wave out a couple of times for attention, being in one of the nooks.

I went there for breakfast and dinner. Busy as always. Great service and food was prepared pretty quickly. I enjoyed dinner better. For breakfast, food was above average. Nothing special that wowed me.

Staff were good and attentive, desserts were ok - reasonably pricy. Did not honour zomato gold membership even when I was told by support that desserts are covered by the 1+1 - heads up for any fellow zomato gold members.

It was our third times having dinner there. And never disappointed. We had pasta of the day and eye fillet with mushroom sauce. Both dishes was delicious. Good portions and affordable.

Absolutely love the theme and all the decor! Their menu suits the theme and everything is fun to look at! Service was good and the food was prepared pretty quickly.<br/><br/>The food itself was above average but their fries were delicious! Nicely fried with a good dip. The burger was a bit heavy but managed to finish it nonetheless. The salad had interesting texture and deviates from the conventional salads - which is a positive point!<br/><br/>However there were many flies around the place which made our dining experience a little annoying and it was fairly hot inside as well.<br/><br/>They also serve delicious cakes and desserts that are definitely worth your while!<br/><br/>Food 7/10<br/>Ambience 6/10<br/>Service 6/10<br/>Price 6.5/10

Circus Circus has great food, and coffee. Funky decor and good service :) A nice place to take friends and family, to get a hearty breakfast/brunch.

Love this place. Beautiful interior, great service and food. Only one toilet, but when they have everything else pretty much perfect, you don't really care. It's been here for years and for a very good reason.<br/>

Staff and managers are lovely and the food was very delicious. Their dessert was the highlight so beautifully presented and made. Would return for a function!

What I may call very average mains, pepperoni pizza was served well but the salt and pepper squid was under seasoned and not crispy. However very lovely and fun desserts would recommend and would return for just a dessert date. The dessert cabinet is full of lovely treats. Banoffee was a crowd winner, with its sturdy delicious crust - the panna cotta had mixed opinions but still we favored.

I LOVE CIRCUS! I am regular customer and live about a 2 min drive away and will probably never stop coming here. They have this one waiter, he’s always there everytime I come with my family AND with my friends and he greets us with smiles and always makes us feel welcomed! I keep meaning to grab his name but always forget, Love the eggs benny, the creamy mushrooms, love the corn fritters a little too dough-y for me but that’s just personal preference! Will always be back for more though 😍
Keith
This place is cute and surprisingly spacious being multi level. The chicken pie $11.90 from the cabinet was hearty and tasty and seemed a better meal option than the steak sandwich for $21. It's a pity they didn't have other more interesting pie flavours otherwise I'd be back to try them. Unfortunately the cabinet was sold out of lots of things too. The place was crowded and in my opinion is overly popular for what it is. I enjoyed my experience there nonetheless.
Bobohood528
In my opinion they never closed their door. Everyday and every time it’s packed. This cafe provides the best carrot cake in the town , maybe in New Zealand. The shop is old, hopefully they can renovate it soon.

the food was average but the enivornment was gorgeous. I love there layout. the staff is friendly and the food is well presented. i think this place is popular

I’ve been here a couple times for dessert and one time to dine in. <br/>The desserts are really good especially the Banoffee Pie but wasn’t impressed with the kitchen food. <br/>I got the bagel with smoked fish which was different hence why I ordered it but it just didn’t work. <br/>My friend ordered the steak sandwich and she wasn’t impressed either. <br/>I’d come back for their cabinet desserts and it’s also open till late which is good but won’t be back for a meal. <br/>The service is average... you pay $8?ish for a cake and you pay more or less at frasers up the road and they are constantly topping up your water glass whatever time of day you go but here you pay at the till and they probably won’t do anything else other than maybe clear your plates. <br/>

Great cafe that is open early till late, great location and vibes here with tables inside and a few outside as well (with heaters). Their drinks range from tea and coffee to wine, and they have slices of cake (chocolate mud cake and banoffee are my faves). Service is always delightful, great team!

It was my first time being here. Nice and cosy place with friendly staffs too. Not to mention the food was yum Yum yum 😋 I was a bit disappointed with the dessert but it’s probably just because I’m used to really sweet or chocolatey desserts. Overall, a good place! 👍🏻

Came in on a busy Sunday Morning with my boyfriend. Service was poor as they were clearly understaffed. No one came to take our order for at least 30 minutes and all the staff seemed to be rushing by our table completely ignoring us despite the fact that we were seated by staff members so they should have been aware of our presence. We finally ordered the big breakfast and pancakes. The beans were completely cold in the middle - probably wasn’t in microwave for long enough. The mushrooms were burnt. Seemed like everything was cooked in a rush. The pancakes were nice and fluffy however they forgot to put the candyfloss on which it said it came with on the menu. Was really excited to try this busy cafe out with boyfriend but both ended up disappointed.

Had a nice dinner the waiter was very friendly and helpful. I think their menu changed a little since the last time i came. We ended up ordering a sweet sour chicken and the eye filet with curly fries and mushroom sauce, the sweet sour chicken wasn't to bad. The curly fries were crunchy and some were hard but not to bad, the mushroom sauce was average.<br/>Circus circus has great desserts! This time we ordered a crunchy cheesecake and a black forrest cake in a jar. The cake in the jar was ok buut the berrys were too sweet for my liking. It doesnt beat the chocolate cake in the jar they have.<br/>Cheese cake was very nice has bits of crunchy in it and it isnt very heavy or hard.<br/>Will definitely go back :)

Circus Circus is so great for brunch, their Eggs Bene is delicious! They also do an amazing steak sandwich, and their homemade burgers are thick, juicy and really good value for money. <br/><br/>Oh and their Chocolate cake is to die for, yum, yum
Sharon Kortas
We keep coming back because they always cater for my food intolerances, I was especially impressed by their service yesterday because they let me put my feet up as I've just had surgery, and they went out of their way to get me a blanket to put under my feet on the chair, and another to sit on. It was our 39th wedding anniversary and I thought I wouldn't be able to go out but they made it possible for me. They had a full house, but the service was prompt so we didn't have to be sitting there for too long. Thank you for making it so easy for me.
Craig Kenny
Love this place, Chocolate cake is so good and coffee awesome. Only negative is it is a tad pricey.<br/>Will definitely go again when I get the Chocolate cravings

I booked online so my friend can wait for me in the seat and the confirmation is fast. The burger is big size for girl, so i donno how to hold together to eat, what i can do is cutting layers by layers😂so it is not eating burger any more.

Circus should be one of the “Must Dos” in Mt Eden CAFE. Food’s delicious and the waiters are pretty friendly. I like the flat white here. Next time will try cakes.

It’s all about the tiramisu! My husband I have dined here several times and we have come back for this shared favourite. For dinner we recommend rich lamb shanks with mash. Customer service is great, ambience is family-friendly. Star of the show is the humble unassuming tiramisu dessert in the glass cup. A real treat!

The other day a group of friends and I went for lunch, and got a table - unfortunately it took 25 minutes for a waiter to come to the table to take our order. We asked for some water and glasses whilst we were waiting for the food. We ended up having to ask 3 different waiters to bring us some water and some glasses before we got them. I understand that a cafe like that would be busy on a public holiday, but we were not informed about how long the wait time would be, and all of the wait staff seemed confused, lost, and unaware of what they were supposed to be doing when we asked them questions and when they took our order. After 45 minutes, the food had still not arrived so we approached yet another waiter who could not manage to tell us where our food was. Another 10 minutes later we asked our original waiter where the food was, it was then brought out to us, but some of the items were missing. Only then did they tell us that those items had "run out" and been sold in the time we were waiting for our food. We were very unhappy as these items were already made items that were in the cabinet in the front; and that they had sold out to other customers after we had placed our order for them. We were now very annoyed by this stage as it had been such a long wait, and the food we had actually received was a bit disappointing and not up to standard or worth the price. In their defense, they did bring out a miniature salad for me to have for free to try and make up for the missing items we had ordered. I used to really enjoy coming to circus circus but the past couple of times I've been there I have been more and more disappointing and do not think I will be coming back again very soon.
The Poor Foodie
Super perfect chocolate cakeeeeeeeeeee<br/>Finished watching rugby game but didn’t feel like a big dinner so I went to circus circus to get dessert. <br/><br/>$7.5 for a huge piece of chocolate cake:)))) the cake was simple: chocolate cake with ganache and a white chocolate deco on top. The cake is so dense and slightly moist. I personally am not a fan of chocolate mud cake or something similar but that thick ganache icing on top of the cake was absolutely gold! It was so rich and went really well with the cake.<br/><br/>One tiny downside is that the food in circus circus is on the pricey side but the environment is circus-themed and it would be a special experience to dine in there:) <br/><br/>Food:5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Overall: 5/5

This is literally the best cookie cake that I have ever tasted. The whipped cream was so so amazing and the way the cake was textured with white chocolate was definitely a treat. Can go to this place thousand times over @circusmteden <br/>.

Very nice little cafe located in busy Mt Eden. The service and food are both very good, the service was very quick and the staff were friendly and seemed to know what they were doing. The food was pretty good not many complaints. I got one of the stuffed potato's with cheese and mushroom. Was very filling and delicious, absolutely love the atmosphere and the decoration. Clearly they have taken the time, to give customers the experience of being in an actual circus.

This place has definitely turned into a favourite place of mine in the last couple of months. They do the BEST garlic loaf I’ve ever had! The steak is really good too, especially if you are a big fan of garlic like myself. The beef burger however wasn’t very flavoursome so next time I go I’ll stick to the steak.

Great food and service! The sweet and sour chicken was amazing. Staff is very friendly. Lovely place with a nice ambience! Would definitely recommend..

Cute little cafe. Got a cappuccino and a delicious slice carrot cake. Apart from its quirky theme, it’s like any other good cafe in Auckland.

The best eggs Benedict I've had , service was good and the place was a good environment to be around . Music was a bit weird however enjoyed my experience here , would recommend it to people who like a good salmon eggs benny, seki as
Where To Next Auckland
Circus Circus is always a good shout for brunch, lunch or dinner. Their Eggs Bene is delicious! Plus they do an amazing steak sandwich, and their homemade burgers are thick, juicy and really good value for money. <br/><br/>The only downside to this place is that the tables are packed in pretty tight, so you can’t be shy about being in close proximity to the table next to you. And some of the upstairs rooms can get pretty cold. <br/><br/>But, the food and service is ALWAYS really good. And they do a pretty mean Sunday roast through the winter too!
Nicole Wallen
This place is amazing! I drive 45 minutes from home just to get here! The ambiance is cute (like a circus), the staff are attentive and the food is TO DIE FOR! I have had the mushrooms & asparagus on toast on the old menu and the roast vege salad on the new menu, and both were fresh and delicious! Definitely a bucket list place
G
Came here for lunch and got the chilli cheese dog with skinny chips and mocha. My friend got the banger & mash and flat white. It was pretty good, tried to steer away from ordering the usual cafe food. Reasonably fast service and prices too. The cabinet food looks amazing, especially the cake so I’ll definitely come back to try other things! Great vibe all around and location in the bustling Mt Eden village.

I love this place!, The service was amazing, our waiter was very professional and served us better than many more expensive restaurants. At his suggestion I got the pulled pork burger with a mixed berry frappe. The burger was amazing and full of flavour and the drink was equally good. The general ambiance of the cafe was also very nice with plenty of seating out back. Would definitely recommend here!

Always enjoy going to Circus Circus. Friendly staff and great food. Their big breakfast is solid for anyone looking for a hearty start to the day before heading out to drop some fence posts or sheer some sheep. Or if you're like me, heading off to tackle some email. Coffee's good as well. Only caution is if you order the kid's pancakes for your 3yo, be prepared to provide some support since the portions seem more aligned to a 30yo. No complaints though. Still great pancakes.
Zac
Its a nice cafe! Great food and coffee! Customer service is good! Been here few times, normally at nite time for some cake and coffee!! Will recommend this place!!

Food was delicious. Came for dinner Saturday night and it was semi busy. Restaurant is very spacious with different seating areas dependant on what you like-indoor, outdoor, by the heaters etc would definitely come back again.

I almost hesitate in writing this review about one of my local cafes because for the most part I’ve been happy with the staff, service and food. <br/>However my last two Sunday roast visits highlighted some issues around customer attentiveness and the staffs powers of observation. <br/>The last time I visited for a Sunday roast I sat at the corner table by the front window in full view of the counter staff. I sat patiently and watched while other customers arrived and get served. Staff should have noticed I was sitting there but for some reason they did not register I was waiting. Some even actually looked over at me. So after about 15 mins I was fairly unhappy so went up to the counter and asked for a menu but then decided to leave and said ‘don’t worry’ and went across to De Post, where unlike Circus the service was fast, staff attentive and I enjoyed a great meal. <br/>Tonight a felt like a roast again, so I thought I would give Circus another go. This time to be safe, I ordered my roast from the counter along with a glass of wine and paid and I was given my table number. To my surprise the counter staffer said wait, while she went and poured my wine and gave it to me at the counter. I almost felt I ought to skull it then and there to save Circus staff time from bringing it to and collecting my empty glass from my table. Anyway I took my wine and sat at the same table as last time. Happily my lamb roast arrived within a reasonable amount of time and I thoroughly enjoyed it along with my Pinot Noir. <br/>While eating my meal I noticed at the next table sat grandma, mum and young grandson who looked about 5 years old. A staffer kindly brought the young lad a coloring sheet but no pencils or crayons. Presumably they would arrive soon. But no - so after a fair while mum went to the counter to ask for some. They arrived eventually. <br/>This alone illustrates the problem that the staff were not being attentive or observant enough. I think someone needed to take oversight of what was happening at the tables.<br/><br/>I finished my meal and eventually my wine. My empty plate and glass sat there for at least 15 mins before they were cleared. But still no one asked me if I was happy with my meal or if I wanted anything else - which I did - tea and a slice of pie. <br/>So I thought I would wait and just see how long it would actually take for someone - anyone to come and ask me. After a 1/2 hour, during which time I started writing this review, finally a staff member came to my table - but not to enquire if I needed anything but to replace the napkin and cutlery I used out of the table cutlery box. (Preparing for the next customer) So I seized the opportunity and asked if I could order a tea and pie. No problem and my tea and pie came quickly. So while staff were friendly no one seemed to be able to use any customer service initiative to follow up or observe what was happening or rather not happening - certainly at my table. Incidentally I’m known to the staff. <br/>By the way I asked the grandma and mum next to me if they were happy with the service and they were very diplomatic - ‘A bit slow but we dont like to complain.’. <br/>Well the old old adage applies - ‘If you don’t know that it’s broke - how can you fix it?’ And how will I know it’s fixed if I don’t come back? I hope they do and can as I would happily come back and see if it has improved. ‘Send in the clowns...’ - sorry it is Circus.

Updates on 13 Nov 2018:<br/>Had lunch again here today. We had mushroom on toast with Bacon as side order, , portobello (egg Benedicts with mushroom and Bacon), and flatwhites. Never been a big fan of this place<br/>Has great street appeal<br/>But has always seemed a bit of a tourist trap<br/>The food is OK<br/>But it surely does not deserve to be as popular as it always is

One of my favourites to go for lunch, great coffee and great food! <br/><br/>Good atmosphere and decor. My favourite is the eggs Benedict, I love the sauce. The bread is also nice and soft, and eggs are perfectly done.

A really popular cafe and definitely an icon in the Mt Eden Village. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the hash browns. Basically two eggs Benedicts, one is with bread and one is with hash browns. <br/>Can never really go wrong with eggs bene so the food was perfect. The place is really warm so perfect for a winter brunch.
Duke_meko
Had the eggs bene with salmon and mushroom. Both were super tasty and we had great service from Juliette, our server. They were great about swapping out the hash cakes for eggs for my keto diet. Good coffee too!

Been a regular here and most of the time it was great but one time a person who seem like would be the owner was not very accommodating and aggressive.

There is something quiet fun about dining with clowns and lions. Came here for lunch and the selection was amazing... not only did it have a full menu but the cabinet food was all fresh and very tempting. Coffee was as they claim... The Greatest Coffee On Earth! Will definately be back.

Circus circus has always been a pleasure to go to. Their chocolate mouse is delicious. And their hot chocolate bowls are great. However, could be priced way cheaper.

Came here on a wintry wednesday night for dinner and dessert. The place wasn't as packed as usual, probably because of the rainy night and we got a nice quiet seat out the back. Rugs were offered to keep us warm which was a nice touch. Enough about the nice ambience though.<br/><br/>I've never been here for dinner before, as its normally the top spot for a coffee and cake but I had an entertainment book deal presenting me with a complimentary meal so of course, I used it. Lucky I did because I wasn't very satisfied with my meal and wouldn't have bought it full price. <br/><br/>I ordered the 'star of the show,' expecting it to live up to its name. It was a moroccan lamb dish served on couscous with a side of coriander dressing. The lamb was tender as described on the menu and was complimented well with the coriander dressing but the presentation was a let down. Wouldn't want to hear Gordon Ramseys opinion on the way it appeared to be just dumped on the plate. More importantly, the serving wasn't as big as I'd hoped and the whole dish was cold. Considering it was 'slow-cooked' it would've been nice for some of the heat to have been retained, especially on the cold night it was (not that they can account for the weather).  <br/><br/>Bit of a let down but serves as a warning for future dinner outings there.

Nice cafe open late in Mt Eden village. Good place to go for coffee and dessert. The service is a bit slow. Good to see they have a range of gluten and dairy free options.

(Sigh) at being too lazy too cook, yet alone wanting dessert, but yep! It happened on a Monday night again. Uber, Uber, Uber Eats. 😂😂😂 I ordered one carrot cake, one banoffee pie and a chocolate frappe. All I can say is - these guys don't mess around when it comes to quality and quantity 👌👌👌👌. Talk about my little super hero's. I could be talking these guys up perhaps but in all honesty, best banoffe pie I've ever had. Bananas weren't soggy and that chocolate frappe... top notch! 👍👌 Tasted like fresh grinded cocoa had been used to make this.<br/>Totally aced my Monday guys! Thank you 💪🔥

The setting here is super cool if you love clowns and the circus and the service is really good.<br/>Coffees here are also so good! One of the best I've had at a cafe.<br/>The beef burger was alright but definately nothing great aswell as their big breakfast unfortunately. Might come back to try their dinner menu.
Mrs Little Flower
Super average cakes and slices. I was having a girls night and we decided to try an array of cakes and slices from the cabinet. It was really nothing to write home about and us all being quite big sugar fanatics didn’t end up finishing anything which doesn’t ever happen. Bit disappointing and have never been back since.
Chantoya
The wait staff were lovely and we loved the decor, however, the coffee came out lukewarm warm and my hash browns tasted very stale. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his big top breakfast.

Busy cafe this morning Sunday morning! Waiters rushed off their feet but polite and accomodating! Sadly coffee 3/5 which is a shame as this cafe used to serve one of the best coffees in town!
Jade Lim
The last time we came here was many moons back. Now, still buzzing as they used to.<br/><br/>Surprisingly the food and service were pretty good. Cool restaurant for date nights; dinner, desserts and coffee.<br/><br/>P/S: They've got blankets and heaters to keep you cozy on chilly evenings.

Food was delicious! The chef really knows what he's doing. We had the Pan fried fish and Rump Angus Beef. Tbh Although the beef wasn't that great, the garlic butter, roast veges were lovely. The fish was really good. Service was great as usual.<br/><br/>Downside QUANTITY or PORTION sizes for the price we paid. Too small.

Went into Circus Circus after two years as we had moved away from Mount Eden to  Kumeu. Reception Staff friendly  asked us to chose a seat ,we went to the rear of the cafe and sat down in an empty area with four tables no one was else sat there. We were asked then by the manager to leave the area and sit elsewhere as it was dinner time ,although the place was half empty he might need the table for a larger group. We left.
Annie Wilson
I'd die for their Banoffee pie or chocolate cake! AMAZING!! Also available on uber eats for my late night cravings! Super large slices especially for the price. Always good service. Can get really busy.
Jaime Brooke
Staff greeted us promptly and food was served in no time, even on a busy day. The food was amazing, had an overall wonderful experience, thankyou!

Came here for the first time with high hopes but was sadly let down. Not being able to eat dairy or eggs, I opted for the smashed avo, and asked if I could swap the egg out for something, which I was told no. I was okay with this, and then my food came out with a poached egg on top of the avocado, to which I let the waiter know that I can't have egg and ordered it without. He then took my food back to the kitchen, and then clearly brought the exact same meal back out, with the egg just taken off the top. This is not good practice and has certainly put me off recommending this establishment to anyone in the future.

If you are looking for consistently GREAT coffee time after time this is definitely the place! They also do a great selection of food and sweets and the atmosphere is always buzzing during busy times.

Our dog was welcomed here at the window seat. We were in the area for the Artist in Eden event which becomes more and more popular each year and it has been going for 30 years! The cabinet food always look mouth watering and very full with choice. I wanted a gluten, chocolate and nut free option but could not find any. One friend had a cheese muffin with greens. It was light and fluffy. We also had the little pies with salad which they rated 4, came with a small salad and chutney. I had half a smoothie which was what was left in the fridge.

Had Banoffee Pie .. it was delicious. One little suggestion I'll make is maybe making the crust thinner. The day I went in the crust was an inch thick. I'm not sure that's how it is usually, I've only been once but will definitely be making a return sometime soon.<br/>Also had the Crunchie Cheesecake. Also delicious. And a plate of fries. The Aioli sauce that came with the chips was yummy too.

Would love to give this place a 5* but I just can’t. The crunchie cheesecake is good but their fridge mustn’t have worked for at least a year now, it’s never cold and always tastes like it’s about to go off because of that and due to the high price, I expect more.<br/>Decor is nice, but I’m a sweet tooth person and that fridge temp just lets the whole place down for me.

Extremely average. Visited this place on a Monday for lunch time with some friends and I’m not very impressed.<br/><br/>Service: No complaint but no applause either. Don’t have to wait long for the food which is good.<br/>Ambience: Quite busy. Decorated with a Circus theme. The place stands out on the strip of many restaurants and cafes. <br/>Food: We got Steak Sandwich, Chicken Bagel and Hash browns with poached eggs. My steak sandwich was not that good, the sauce was too sweet and the steak was definitely not medium rare. The fries on the other hand were very hot, tasty and crispy. Both my friends, however, really enjoyed their orders.<br/><br/>Overall, i’ll only come back to try the dessert. <br/>

This is one of my faves late night coffee spots! <br/>I usually just sit down with a mocha and fries. <br/>This morning I got to experience the full Circus Circus breakfast. <br/><br/>I ordered the toasted bagel with Manuka kahawai (I was slightly disappointed they don’t offer smoked salmon instead) it was actually quite tasty! And those shoe string fries are my faves doesn’t matter breakfast, lunch or dinner fries are always a good idea <br/><br/>My friend got the eggs any style with Manuka kahawai. They pretty much devoured it in 4 minutes so it must have been pretty good! <br/>Personally I’m not a fan of runny eggs so it was a pass from me 🙅🏻‍♀️<br/><br/>Our food came reasonably fast as the place was pretty busy.<br/><br/>Definitely planning on heading back here to try the pancakes soon!

Average. You mainly pay for the gimmick - much better places around. A few vegetarian items on the menu, but nothing special. Cakes look good though tbh, so may be perfect for tea and a slice in the colder months.

Started off our day with brunch at Circus Circus.<br/>The homemade hashbrowns did not disappoint as the potatoes inside were soft and the outside was crispy. Next we had ordered the peanut butter and jam bagels. The combination of peanut butter and jam with a berry topping was perfect when spread on top of the bagels. Strawberries were also extremely sweet.<br/>After the show, we finished off with a crunchie bar cheesecake. The cheesecake was very rich in flavour but it was not dense like a cheesecake. To be honest, it tasted more like a chocolate mousse than a cheesecake. If you are a mousse lover, I would highly recommend this cake. The cake itself tasted very nice as its chocolate biscuit base layer really complimented its chocolate mousse like layer.

Came here just for a slice of their utterly delicious looking chocolate cake. And I tell you, it’s utterly delicious. Rich, moist dark and chocolatey, the icing is ridiculously yummy. Friendly staff at the counter, very cool looking cafe/restaurant right in mt Eden. Will be back for some lunch! With dessert right after!

A great place to eat and drink - The meals were delicious - The service was great - they had a wide range of drinks to select from - Also a very iconic place to eat from - Definitely worth another visit <br/>for me and my partner soon  - THANKS CIRCUS CIRCUS

I've been to this place for years, food has always been really good and the location is great too! Love the decor and interior, it's super cute. Will need to come back sometime soon.

Sam Pervan <br/>We both had the chicken burger and fries , they were both to die for but the homemade aioli was very vinegary , my chocolate ice frappe was more milky then chocolaty <br/>

Always a great restaurant... been here over a dozen times in the last couple of years.... great food, good service.... Johnathon and his team are excellent

Came here for brunch and ordered the eggs benedict with bacon and a lemonade while my partner ordered the big breakfast and a chocolate frappé. The benedict was nice and filling and the English muffins were perfectly toasted and fresh. They added a bit too much hollandaise sauce which made the dish a little sour overall but I guess I should ask them to add less next time. The big breakfast was also amazing and so was the frappé. Would definitely come visit again!

First timer to Circus Circus for breakfast and I now know why the place is always so busy! . Great atmosphere and right in the heart of Mt Eden. Breakfast was great. I'll be going back for sure.

Me and a friend decided to come for a coffee and cake on a Saturday afternoon. Firstly it was so loud if you sit near the counter as the staff are constantly banging dishes together in the kitchen, secondly the Chai Latte was so bad I might as well have ordered warm milk. The carrot cake was dry but luckily the staff had asked me if I would like yogurt when I ordered it. The staff seemed so flustered and the customer service seemed to suffer because of it.<br/><br/>Overall I will look to try a different cafe next time I am in the area
Adam York
Very generous slice of cake that was really delicious - highly recommend for a satisfying  afternoon tea or coffee hangout. Fun decor to enjoy there also.

I’ve been meaning to come here for a while now - finally stopped by on Saturday morning for some pancakes. The place is always booming. Catchy theme with decor to match, the cabinet food looked impressive, staff were on the floor in full force - there’s a variety of seating from the front of house to the rear with counters on both ends, so no long lines when it’s time to pay the bill. All these impressive aspects like a crescendo leading to what would ultimately be an unsatisfying climax. The pancakes were presented beautifully, I was so eager to take my first bite only to be disappointed by the fact that they were so dry & brittle - one of the pancakes my girlfriend was served was completely black on the surface. The caramel sauce was the saving grace, like finding an oasis after a long hike in the unforgiving desert. So while everything else was great, the main element of my review (the food) was the biggest let-down :( They still get a 4 from me though as a reflection of my overall experience. I’ve read & heard great things about this place. Twas just an “off” day for the pancake man I guess...

We normally come for coffee and desserts or cabinet food!! This time was our first time we tried the dinner menu ... it was great ... I had the fish and he has the rump steak and side order of fries ...!! Plus good service and friendly people ✌

Service was friendly and fast. Tried Eggs Benedict with bacon which has always been my go-to breakfast dish when trying out a new cafe. It was ok. Great family dining experience and will definitely come back to try the other food from menu.

Have been here three times. Very busy on weekends .the decoration of this place is unique the layout of the various rooms are pretty cool too. Unfortunately they have some unfriendly waiters, asked them for something and they never comeback and hard to get their attention . The creamy mushroom thing I had was really tasty, but seafood salad was tasteless .sometimes food can take longer than usual to come.
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Great dessert and lunch, the coffee is not very strong though. Been there many times now and really enjoy most food I had, coffee and hot chocolate was a little disappointing. Overall a good place for a meal with friends and family.

Friendly environment. .we had Wakanui Rump - creamy peppercorn sauce - chicken burger with skinny fries (best fries) and Tarakihi ..lemon skordalia sauce with chives butter sauce. -great sauce with the fish. Service was great for the mains. However, the dessert menu arrived quickly but had to wait for awhile before the order was taken. The cakes came promptly but had to wait about 10 mins before the coffee. Chocolate Cake with chocotlate mousse icing . The chocolate cake itself a little dry not moist ..the mousse icing was prefect.Crunchie bar Cheesecake good texture but a tiny wee sweet by itself until I quench with the warm coffee seems fine. Need to work on servicing the beverage on time together with the desserts. Overall great mains menu thank you chef for making the lovely food.

Love coming here!! Staff are always really friendly and the food is delicious. I work in Mt Eden and come here in my lunch break sometimes, and am very happy at how fast the food comes out! Highly recommend :)

It's my second time to circus circus. Located around mt Eden central ( still new to the area ) which Circus Circus stands out a lot with the bright red stripe looking tent like a circus feel. <br/>The place would take you back to time and gives you the experience of being in a circus with the place being decorated in such a way. <br/>It's normally busy and it's worth the wait. The staffs were really friendly and welcoming which is good. <br/><br/>I ordered hash browns with poached eggs , hollandaise and with the option of streak bacon. Really loved their hash brown however the poached eggs were overcooked. A bit disappointed but it's not a big deal. <br/><br/>Also ordered myself a hot chocolate which is good :) <br/><br/>Give it a try when any of you do pass by mt Eden. Give circus circus a taste and you will find it :)

So I've been to good cafés and I've been to average cafes, and Circus Circus definitely stacks up with some of the best ones I've been to. It was treat day tonight and whenever I find myself particularly keen to indulge in sweetness nothing hits the spot quite like their signature moist dark chocolate cake. It is heavenly as it is sinfully delish and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something sweet but not too sweet and satisfying.<br/><br/>The staff are some of the best in the industry and work tirelessly to provide impeccable service no matter what time of the day you grace the joint. You can tell that what they do is extremely stressful and an absolute juggling act (yes pun intended) but they do it with a smile which is commendable.<br/><br/>Circus Circus is now among the staple list if places I frequent with friends and I would happily endorse their establishment as being one of the best family friendly and dog friendly joints in the inner city.

Good place for a decent brunch on weekends. The place could be really busy though but worth a visit if you like good coffee with some nice kiwi big breakfast.<br/>My fav is egg Benedict with salmon n hot cappa...<br/>Portion size is good n the service is quite friendly.

Really cool atmosphere and they have the best smoothies! They also come in really cool mini bottles, they staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend Circus Circus for the whole family 🍽

Ordered creme brulee, hot choc, and tiramisu. All were a bit disappointing. The hot choc was not very chocolate-ly, the tiramisu had minimal coffee and a lot of cream. The staff were super friendly but forgot about the creme brulee. Atmosphere is dimly lit and very cosy.

Caught up with some friends last night in Mount Eden and decided to try this place out. Coffee was quite disappointing. Espresso had good body but it was bitter and had not much flavour notes. Cakes were quite stale and were very sweet. Seats were too cramped and had to share a small round table between the four of us.

I love this place because they make amazing coffees and Muffins! <br/>I also appreciate their amazing service.<br/>Circus Circus is one of those comfort places for me.

We went there for dinner. Really interesting decor and nice and warm. Please go really hungry, the meals are quite big! Garlic bread for one is really big but quite delicious. I also had the Massaman chicken curry which was very very creamy and extremely mild. It was a massive serving and I couldn't finish it. But it was very tasty. For dessert I got the salted caramel creme brûlée - one of the best things I have ever tasted. It was so smooth and the caramel was perfect. The biscotti on top I had to sacrifice however because there was no way I could eat anything else! Highly recommend this fun and tasty restaurant.

Stays open till late, cosy and warm inside with a cool vibe. Great service with decent variety of food offered. Parking can be tricky at times closeby but lotsa inner road with free parking if you dont mind bit of walking

Really cool ambience and staff. Definitely an improvement from the service I received a few years ago here, this time they were so friendly and welcoming! Decent food as well - had the haloumi circus salad. Great coffee. Will be back next time I'm around in Mt Eden.

Very nice, I'm totally an cafe lover. When I had the day off, I always bring my child and had nice breakfast in the cafe. I love the food over there even the menu hasn't been change in the past few years. Good job chef!

Coffees not hot - this café needs to get its coffee machine serviced. Sloppy service and upon complaining, the lady apologised but did not offer a replacement.

Service was average, wait times were terrible but when the food finally arrived it was fantastic. Maybe it was an off night for them, would try again given the meals were yummy!

Child-friendly place, perfect for a Sunday brunch with the family. Loved the food, but we were particularly blown away by the cake in a jar. Yum!

Great food and Decor ! Favourite dish : Homemade Hashbrowns with poached eggs & salmon. However , today I went back for my favourite dish and they have replaced the Salmon with a different type of fish. Abit disappointed cz it was quite average with out the Salmon lol

Been there few times, great environment and food not too bad. Was there for lunch today and have to say that the staff are not friendly at all especially the asian guy with tattoo presumably is the supervisor with no smile, no greeting and sour face however luckily the slim indian waiter that are more friendly making our visit more enjoyable.<br/><br/>Back to this cafe again twice this week with my family and we was so impressed with the staff esp Marisa at the counter was so friendly not only to us but to all her customers as we observed.<br/><br/>We sat close to the counter and she even come and check on us twice. She is sure an asset to the cafe and definitely change my rating to 4.5. Will definitely be back soon. 😊👌

I would have given this place a 3.5 for the their desserts. However, given we had to wait for over 40 minutes for the baked Camembert dish and chicken wings means my rating drops to a 3. This place is nice to go to when you feel like a quick dessert and simple (as their ready dessert took less than 5 minutes to get to the table). But if you are going here for a meal be prepared to wait a while before you get food you ordered.

Excellent Place and the food was amazing.. 😊😊 love the ambience and the little circus decorations on the ceiling.. keep up the good work circus circus.
Jeffie
Nice place, providing your usual standard of service and the ambience is basically typical of a cafe just with a circus motif here and there.<br/><br/>Came here for lunch with workmates and had the fettuccine which was very delicious and I ordered a side fries which never turned up, people make mistakes which is fair enough. <br/><br/>Overall nothing is really outstanding for me about this place, it just feels like another cafe to me but not bad at all.

Went to Circus Circus for dessert. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Hot chocolate was decent. Just like any average hot chocolate. I liked how they serve it in a large bowl. The carrot cake was very dense and dry. Staff was slow to take requests. However, I don't blame them as the arrangement of tables are scattered and quite difficult for staff to see all tables.
Lipe Kaloni Latu
Staff are friendly and attentive, Great service great food desserts are mainly the reason we go there great that they open late perfect for late night coffee dates.
Joanne Chiang
This place is always packed at night with people going for dessert. Initially we were wanting to have dinner across the road but they forgot to put our order in and waited for 2 hours and came to circus circus. Staff that night was extremely friendly, got us water quickly and took our order in time. We got a lamb potato top pie and a steak. Also a side of fries. We enjoyed our meal a lot. Couldnt even finish the steak. I also got the tiramisu take away which i still need to return the glass.

Originally planned to go somewhere much nicer but as they were closed we decided to come to Circus Circus as it was close by.<br/><br/>Weird décor, kind of freaky. Especially the weird looking clown thing. <br/><br/>Entree (whore baked brie) was mouthwatering, made me salivate on command. In that moment I was one of Pavlov's dogs. <br/><br/>Steak was medium but requested medium rare. Disappointing.<br/><br/>Baked crepes was super filling, rather unusual dish however.<br/><br/>Crunchier bar cheesecake was to die for (literally).

We've had lots of recommendations about this place so expectations were rather high. Arrived 9am on a sat morning, it was reasonably busy but not frantic. Coffee was very slow to arrive, it came well after the meal. Good flavors but presentation was average. All in all it was fine but we were left a little disappointed.

Food and Flavour: 2.5/5<br/>Ambience: 3/5<br/>Seating: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Value for Money: 3.5/5<br/>The kids loved the fact that it was Carnival themed but annoyed at the same time as they allow pets in then seating area and they kept moving around to our surroundings. I was appalled that the owners didnt leash the toy dogs . Food wise it was nice...we ordered Eggs Benedict and they were nice.:)

This place has a awesome theme to it. Food and coffee is really good too. This cafe is a little bit on the pricier side, however it is located in Mt Edan village. It is a very clean cafe, with friendly staff and good service. Would fully recommend going again.

Even though it was super busy, the service was fast, the food was fantastic and the staff are really friendly - makes for a very enjoyable experience

Place was very busy and still the service was fast and friendly. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Would definitely come back. The only struggle was finding a park
Iris Joy Ebasco Edic
Had dinner here on a Tuesday night with my boyfriend. Came around 7:00, place was already buzzing and we were lucky to find a spot. <br/><br/>Ambiance: good vibes 😁<br/>Service: friendly and approachable staffs<br/>Food: great, yummy...we had the chicken for mains and chocolate heaven for dessert. It was so good that we end up ordering desserts to go. Best fries I ever had😃 The only downside was there a was a little wait for the foods. <br/><br/>Overall, everything was great and awesome. We will definitely be back again.😁😁

Finally went to Circus Circus. I am not sure I would go there for dinner. But great place for brunch. Lots little places to sit. The pan fried liver was really nice and would recommend that. The bagel was okay, but liked the filling of pulled pork with piccalilli. But looking around some of the other plates looked appetising and people were polishing off the food. The coffee was nice, not extraordinary, but nice. Did not really get the theme but did not hate it. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We changed tables three times, but they did not lose track of us and did not get irritated. So that was is definitely a plus. Will I go back- yes. Want to try eggs benedict!

I think the circus has lost its appeal, I Guess I expected cirque du soleil but I got the circus at the Easter show. Not bad but not going to make me come running back when the ringmaster cries circus circus

Enjoyed my lunch here today. Good vibe and pleasant fast service. A little more sauce on the pancakes would have been great but otherwise fine. The place was busy on a Tuesday but even so food came quick and with a smile. I will come again!<br/>

I have a phobia of clowns, so despite hearing so many great things about this place, I have tried my hardest to stay away. However after reading their menu, I just could not help myself anymore but to check it out!<br/><br/>The place was HUGE like a maze, which was a good thing because you are almost guaranteed seats no matter how busy they are ;) The decoration also had a lot of character with the vintage posters and vibrant colours (again, I tried to stay away from the clowns).<br/><br/>All the items on the menu sounded mouth-watering. My husband had the pulled pork eggs benedicts, which were served on hash browns. The pulled pork was richly flavoured and beautifully cooked, together it was just the perfect combination.<br/><br/>The vanilla pancakes were a must-try. It had a rich vanilla flavour, and wonderfully buttery and fluffy. My only critique was that the pancakes were slightly dry. But served with the most gorgeous toffee sauce (tasted like butterscotch!) and topped with walnuts/pecans, it was heavenly.<br/><br/>They also had very decent coffee and hot chocolates.<br/><br/>All in all, if it weren't for the clowns, I would definitely be visiting a lot more often! I think I will still come back for their pancakes anyway ;)

Just can't quite get fully on board with this place. I can understand why people like it, but there are plenty of reasons why I don't. It doesn't compare to other places across the street. <br/><br/>The decor, the cafe tables and plastic chairs, the building itself, which just feels like a makeshift cafe that should close up shop at 4pm everyday. But the cake was nice, and the staff were cheery and pretty good. <br/><br/>Plenty of people seem to like this place as it seems quite busy regularly, sadly I'm just not one of them.

Came here for lunch! Loved the design and location although was a little hard to find parking. We all got the steak and it was cooked well. Staff was really friendly and overall good experience.

CC is open late most days and is perfect for late night sugar cravings. Their display has always got something tantalizing. Great coffees too. <br/><br/>I also like how there's always a water bowl for pooches outside. Brownie points!

This place I am rather fond of, this is somewhere I normally like to go for a relaxed coffee and catch-up with mates every now and than.   <br/><br/>THE FOOD <br/><br/>Soy Mocha (5/5) - I'm not coffee expert, I leave that to my friends, but for me personally this place serves this coffee the way I love it.  Perfect cream and chocolate ratio.   <br/><br/>Carrot Cake (4/5) -  So for this particular visit I ordered a cake and it was just right.  I like how the icing tasted like yogurt and how the flavors are subtle.  <br/><br/>Steak & Fries (4/5) - So a while ago I ordered a steak dish with fries and coleslaw. The steak was good but for some reason here the coleslaw blew me away.  It actually became the highlight of this dish.   <br/><br/>THE ENVIRONMENT (5/5) <br/>I love how there are different parts of this cafe you can sit and feel a different vibe.  For the smokers, there is an outdoor area, there is a quite area, there's an outdoor area. It's perfect.  Both morning, noon or night the environment is chill.  <br/><br/>THE STAFF (3/5) <br/>All in all, each time I go here the staff are reasonably good.   There is one older Asian lady at the counter who providers excellent service every time I come across her.  Sometimes staff can lack being attentive but can understand as this place can get busy at times.   <br/><br/>WORTH IT? <br/>Definitely for a chill night with mates.
Mae
Their carrot cake: divine! ❤❤❤<br/>Aside from the fun, whimsical ambiance, I come here often with friends to enjoy a cup of coffee and share some laughs. It opens til late too so it's a cafe you can rely on when you need a cup of tea or coffee at 8 o'clock in the evening. Have been coming back and would always come back. 😊
AA
Circus. Yea. its a circus, minus all the acrobatics, flame eating performers and the clown juggling balls. The ambience is good though - made u feel like u're in a circus. <br/>Came here for dessert, and got carrot cake and Tiramisu. Carrot cake was averagely good, typical flavour you can get elsewhere. Tiramisu was good as well.<br/>Didnt have the chance to try out Banofee Pie as it was sold out. Could this be the top choice among visitors? <br/>Overall good place to hangout.
Claire L
There is so many options in this area now - circus circus you really need to up your game. Your food is dated especially the dinner menu. Great service, good cakes but that's about it. Will only visit again if you refresh your menu.

nice place to have lunch and coffee. service is always fast, staffs are very friendly. I love their egg benedict so delightful. i recommend this cafe to everyone.
S&G Take Auckland
Still the same rating as I came here this morning for brunch. My sister ordered the vanilla pancakes with bacon which she thought were good , could do with more maple syrup. I ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon. Two perfectly cooked eggs 🍳 with a good portion of salmon. The bread is what let it down. Not crispy or warm and not the best quality. Could definitely upgrade . <br/><br/>The only reason i'm giving this place a 3/5 is due to ambiance 4/5, and service 4/5. The food was a 1-2/5. <br/><br/>I've been here a few times, and to be honest never really enjoyed the food. The 250g wakanui rump is average, what made it worse was the mushroom sauce. It's got a horrible flavor almost like detergent.<br/>I know that sounds crazy and maybe my taste buds are warped but that's the only way i could describe it. The beans and potato were average and under seasoned.<br/><br/>I recall having a pasta here in the past (lol) but i can't remember how it tasted just that it's always been an underwhelming experience here. I also do not understand how those chefs work is possible the worlds tiniest kitchen!<br/><br/>To be honest the only time i'd go here is with an entertainment card. Or because it is just close by. Mind you i think i'll try the dessert next time as that has got good reviews.

Such a great place with friendly staff. So good how they are always open till late. Wonderful atmosphere too! I have been coming here for many years

Have been here a few times. For both lunch and dinner. Came here for brunch today.<br/><br/>I love the circus themed decor and the extensive dining space as you walk deeper into the restaurant. The dining area at the back is quite private and is lovely at dinner time under candle lights.<br/><br/>Their meals are good portions sizes and I like their cakes from the cabinet. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare especially on weekends!

Never disappointed when I visit Circus Circus. Love their desserts and I hammer the banoffe pie. Meals are delish at any time of day, breakfast is recommended.

I just can't get that excited about Circus Circus - hugely popular, yes. Consistently busy yes, but nothing really stands out for me over many other cafes. I find it to be very noisy and and squished with people pushing past your table all the time due to small floor space. Near the kitchen feels quite stressful and I'd recommend trying to get a table upstairs where things seem a bit quieter. We ordered eggs Benedict with salmon - they were decent but unmemorable, hot chocolate was alright and coffee too. Nothing particularly stood out as much as I wanted it to. Parking was near impossible at the time which made things a bit tough too. The people who dropped things off at our table were exceptionally nice though which I always enjoy :) if I went back maybe I'd try the cake instead of the very normal, and decently expensive, brunch foods. Prefer The Garden Shed across the road.

Me and my friends went here for afternoon tea. They have a variety of desserts and coffees. They were really delicious and creatively served. The place was good. From the outside, it seems small but when we entered, there were a lot of tables at the back. The staffs were nice and friendly. And it's just near our neighborhood.

Another amazing breakfast place in Auckland. The hash browns are perfect, the bacon is really good, the eggs are perfectly poached. I also had the chicken burger, not my favorite but still good

Have been here many times as the ambience of the place is very nice. Desserts are lovely and coffee is good. They've got a place at the back for larger groups and can be a bit private so that's good. Staff are friendly and very helpful.

Been here couple of time. My experience at circus was great. Very fast service, friendly staff and good chefs. I highly recommended to everyone.

My family and I had tea and cake at Circus Circus and it was fine. Up until we were leaving and my mother and grand mother needed to use the bathroom. They walked in and one of the male staff members started yelling and screaming at them in front of everyone. He was trying to stop them from using the bathroom because he thought we were outsiders and not customers. It was just so rude and unnecessary that we all just had no words for this guy. When we told him that we were customers he had no remorse and didn't even apologize. There were 9 of us and we all left the place with a very bitter taste in our mouths.. shame on you

Really impressed service was quick and efficient for a public holiday super impressed. Food and coffee was so delish will be back soon. Highly recommend the hash browns

really really nice, my wife and I had a really enjoyably hearty tasty meal here. <br/>we were to full to try the desserts but they looked bloody good  so next time maybe :)

Great experience. Lovely service. Had a slice of chocolate cake was really nice, not too sweet, moist, all really nice. We had the sunday pork roast - definitely recommend!  sooooo tasty, the flavour, the generous portions. Everything on the plate was perfect. Will be going back

Two years ago I had a decidedly average lunch at Circus Circus and vowed I’d never go back. Two nights ago I caved and went with a friend, it is so disappointing to see that nothing much has changed, I honestly don’t know why people go to this place! After waiting ten minutes to be served with only one girl on the counter and at least seven other staff milling around behind her, I ordered 1 glass of pinot noir, 1 chamomile tea and a slice of banoffee pie to share. Now I have been in hospitality for fifteen years and it seems really obvious to me that if you are really busy (which they were) you don’t put the newbie on the till unsupported and you don’t make the customer wait for their drink and cake, you add it to the order and bring it out with the hot drink. This irritated the customers behind me as well and held things up even longer! The banoffee pie was pretty appalling, especially for $11.90 a slice! A bland biscuit base, sliced banana stacked three high, a piddly amount of caramel sauce binding everything together and over whipped cream makes for a pretty shitty banoffee experience! What a waste of $25.30.
Kirsten
Came in here for a late afternoon tea. Ordered a small cappuccino, a slice of carrot cake and a chocolate frappe. Service was good, and the staff were friendly. The cappuccino was decent, but not as creamy as I thought it would be. The chocolate powder looked like it was carelessly scooped and dunked on. The carrot cake was lovely and moist, perfect! The chocolate frappe just tasted like a thickshake. Overall, I think they could do better with their coffee. I'm keen to give their coffee another ago!

I had a terrible experience here. It's a lot further away than the usual places I like to go for breakfast but the theme got me excited so I wanted to try. When my boyfriend and I got there, it was busy. Nothing too crazy but busy and they sat us down, took our order then half an hour went past...45 minutes...then over an hour. I looked around at other tables who had sat before us and they were getting served. Obviously they had forgotten our order. Even the drinks!! Was pissed off to say the least and just wanted to go home. They said 'oh well it's gonna take about 15-20 minutes to get it made if you don't mind waiting longer' and by that stage I was done. Won't be going back again. The place wasn't that busy to use that as a excuse to forget our meals and no one while we had no drinks or food in front of us came past to see 'oh hey have you ordered or would you like some water while you wait' not good at all.

Circus Circus is a charming cafe in Mt Eden Auckland with a cosy ambience that sets the mood for relaxed joyful eating. <br/>There are separate menus for Brunch, Dinner and Refreshments - the food menus have a variety of options for breakfast/brunch and dinner (snacks, main course and desserts) - and - the refreshment menu features a good selection of Wines, Beer & Cider and Non-Alcoholic Beverages like Juices, Colas, Tea, Coffee etc <br/>Since we visited Circus Circus in the evening - we missed out on their famed Eggs Benedict which is on the brunch menu.<br/>First - for a "bite"- we ordered Baby Back Pork Ribs with Home Made Barbecue Sauce - succulent and well made - it tasted superb with its unique sauce. <br/>The "Main Course" Pan Fried Market Fish was truly delicious - adorned with an excellent beans and sprouts salad, veggie garnish and sauce. <br/>Both the dishes were top-notch and the wines were top quality too.<br/>From the excellent selection of desserts - we chose Banoffee Pie - which is exquisite in taste and texture - and leaves a wonderful flavoursome aftertaste within you.<br/>The excellent quality of food, courteous service and relaxed ambience made it a memorable meal and we truly enjoyed eating at Circus Circus.<br/>When you are in Auckland - I strongly recommend that you visit "Circus Circus" - for breakfast/brunch - for dinner - or anytime of the day - for a relaxed drink and a snack.

Went Saturday afternoon just after midday.<br/><br/>Had Caffe Latte, Iced Cafe Americano<br/>We had the Hash Browns with Chicken, and Chicken Burger<br/><br/>Mrs had the Iced Coffee Americano, possibly foolish mistake as its really bitter.  But all credit tot he staff, they returned it, blended it into a more Ice Blended coffee and it was really good.  Customer service at its best.<br/><br/>Hash Browns and Chicken was nice, the Hollandaise sauce complimented.  The burger was fair, not fantastic but certainly not unappealing.<br/><br/>All in all good wholesome food and good coffee.<br/><br/>Only negative.  Nearing end of our meal, Circus has these cool paper K&F holders.  Randomly the Asian guy with the Goatee who was waiting, removed my serviette from it, and left it as  crumpled mess on the table. Food Handling 101 absolute fail. Such a pity as rest was excellent.<br/>Could have been a 4.5 score, but this is basics and really offputting.

Awesome place at Mt Eden. It has a few items on the menu but a perfect joint for European food. You will enjoy every part of this place; the food, drink, ambiance and the decor all at its best.

Poor service and obnoxious barista.<br/>Ordered coffees. I found my latte to be quite strong. I asked the barista to please tip some out and replace with plain milk so she won't have to make a new one. I got a loud response of 'WELL THATS A LATTE!!' Not to mention the attitude and facial expressions that came with it, while angrily making the next cup. It was loud enough for other customers to turn around and look at her. I would never return. Also not sure how this is a child friendly cafe. There was no space whatsoever to move inside and my stroller didn't even fit the door. People were cramped between tables waiting for their takeaways while being stared at awkwardly by diners on their tables. It's such a shame because I thought I would spread this to my coffee groups and facebook moms groups as a good spot with kids. Instead I will make sure to tell as many as possible not to waste their time.

My Favourite Cafe. This cafe is so cute and nicely set with a backdrop of Carnival-Circus kind of feel. The best part is that you will always find it full with customers lined up and that is because of their Great Food and Reasonable Pricing.<br/>I enjoyed my experienc!A Must Try in Mt.Eden<br/>Nashi Dasgupta

Been here couple of times and this place is always packed any time of day! The ambiance is great (typical cafe style) and location is super handy. Lots of food to chose from and cabinet food as well which is good if you are in a rush. Food wise flavours was very average, last time I dined here my pasta was actually warm/cold which was disappointing. Their cakes are yum though!
KP
Enjoyed a deliciously sweet afternoon here tasting cake! My personal favourite was the carrot but the Banoffee also deserves a thumbs up! The place was very busy but has additional seatings out back

Best meal by far in the last few weeks - the gnocchi is amazing the service superb Dinner definitely your strong point would definitely come back again

This place is one of my most favorite paces to go to in auckland, no matter how busy they get the staff is always wonderfully accommodating and lovely. this place definitely specializes with desserts so highly recommend to anyone.

A beautiful elegant restaurant with lovely staff and fantastic food. Excellent customer service and really good quality food. Came here on a date and for couples celebrating an anniversary or simply wanting to have a good evening I recommend this place

I've always wanted to visit this place and I finally got the opportunity to today. It was so busy today but we managed to get a table :) the service was really friendly and my food tasted really good! I got the mushroom thing (I forgot the proper name) and the flavours were delicious. However my...

Have been there for a few times with different friends. Lots of people like this place, so do I. Have tried lunch, dinner and afternoon tea there. I prefer their dinner menu more than lunch. Desserts are awesome. And staff always wear a smiling on their face.

This place offered us a very warm hospitality, great customer service and delicious food!<br/><br/>The food was quite heavy but nonetheless tasty, the Chicken Caesar Burger, check out the pics and judge for yourself!<br/><br/>Definitely worth coming back!

We had the homemade hashies and they were really nice, the rocket complimented it nicely. The venue is quite tight though.. It feels so crammed in (its in an old villa so understandable) people constantly walking around, waiters everywhere, narrow walk ways.. During the busy period, it was constant traffic going back and forth passed our table. So as a tip, find a table away from the foot traffic 😂

Nice warm and cozy atmosphere :)<br/>Very friendly staff. Great place for coffee date. <br/>Great selection of desserts. <br/>I went today in the afternoon with my friend. They had breakfast menu still available which was around 3ish in the afternoon which was awesome as i wanted to have pancakes. We choose the table which was next to fire place. It was perfect environment for us to chichat without any distractions. The place was so cozy and nice we stayed there for 3hrs just talking away. The staff never gived us any impression of wanting us to go, they didn't mine that we stayed there for that long. We really enjoyed our time at circus :) <br/><br/>Food 3/5<br/>Services 5/5<br/>Atmosphere 4/5<br/>Price 3/5

Love how they are open quite late for dessert. The desserts are nice, and my friends commented the coffee is of good quality. The only downside is that the cashier place is quite small, which can makes it little difficult to order food when there is a queue. Although there is a bit of a room between the cashier and the entrance door, a small queue would make you feel you are in everyone's way. However, this is not really the shop's fault. They are just that popular.

Haven't actually dined in here, but took away an orange and almond cake. It was so light, moist and full of flavor, I can't wait to try more desserts here!

The name of this cafe always makes me think of clowns😃 it is known for its great coffee and café style food.<br/><br/>Interior has a circusy theme with bright red interior and decoration of circus clowns and frameworks. Even the outside exterior is colourful and also has lion statues. They have outside and indoor seating. Outdoor heating and blankets outside too. At night they also have neon red lights outside the seating area. The cafe looks small but actually there's a decent amount of seating inside. <br/><br/>We ordered their decaf flatwhite and cuppucino. For desert we ordered the neopolitan mousse and tirimusu. Service was friendly and efficient. <br/><br/>Firstly the flatwhite i ordered was quite small in comparison to other cafes. Taste was okay, considering I wanted a decaf. However, could have been a tad hotter. My desert of the neopolitan mousse was beautifully presented in a glass jar. I loved the berries and flavours on top, but the further I was getting to the bottom of the glass it was just overly sweet.. where it left a tickle in my throat. My friends tirimusu was so yum. Light and just the right amount of sweetness. <br/><br/>If you arent a sweet tooth they also serve proper breakfast, lunch and dinner here. All freshly made as per order.

They make decent food here. They are fairly busy with queues forming to the outside.<br/><br/>I've been here several times for lunch, dinner and tea. <br/><br/>The food is nice. The steak for lunch is nice and well done. <br/><br/>However, my dinner experience was not that great. The steak was expensive and the sides provided being some carrots and a big piece of potato was too little to justify the $33 price tag. Their entrees such as prawns and chicken wings were simply too small to justify their $15 price tag. It was able to be finished in a few bites. <br/><br/>The service can be bad sometimes depending on who you get. For example, one time I was here the girl behind the counter spoke to another worker just before I was about to order. How rude! I waited a few minutes and get interrupted by this random worker. Why don't you speak to her later? You do need to put your customers first. <br/><br/>I also don't like the smoking area which leaks out smoke even though it's supposed to be enclosed. If you sit next to it, you'll probably smell smoke. It is not healthy and I'm not spending my money to smell second hand cigarette smoke. You should ban it completely from the restaurant. If people want to smoke, they can at home.

I came here for brunch today and although the menu is limited the food was very nice. The service was a bit slow and one of the drinks we had paid for was forgotten, then when we asked where it was we were asked to pay for it again. Eventually that was sorted and didn't have to re pay for the drink. The Betty smoothie was delicious and I would return. I recommend sitting in the back area if you want to hear what the people around you are saying as at the front where the counter and kitchen are, it is very noisy. Overall a good experience. And happy customers. 👍🏼

Have always wanted to try this place out big they're always busy especially during dinner time. Finally made it here for lunch though! <br/><br/>Service wasn't bad. The food did arrive pretty quickly and it did taste very nice. Ordered the homemade hash browns ($18.90) which was very delicious and that runny poached egg -perfection! <br/><br/>Some of the stuff on the menu was a little bit on the pricey side though but I mean if it tastes this good, then I guess it's worth it!

A very busy cafe in one of my favorite village.<br/><br/>Coffee is perhaps one of the highlight of the place barring the lovely looking cafe.<br/><br/>Improvement in customer service and food choices are highly required. As my eden has got some really fabulous cafes and dine in places.<br/><br/>Hope things change.

I have been here alot for breakfast mostly. Their waffles are the best! Coffe is always great... Fast and friendly service. Great location and vibe to this joint.

Came here for a friend's birthday brunch and got the home made hash browns with salmon. Tasted good, would be keen to try something else next time. Im a big fan of their iced drinks, their ice coffee is really great. And their hot chocolate is creamy and not too sweet - try it in a bowl for sure.

Unfortunately I can not offer a positive review, the order was for three meals where two of the meals that come to the table were far from our expectations. <br/>200g eye fillet, requested medium and Fish of the day.<br/>The steak was under cooked and the potato was inedible, the seasonal vegetables only lightly blanched. We were offered a second attempt at preparing the eye fillet and was presented reduced size of what appeared to be the end piece that was unfortunately now well-done. and the potato still inedible. Very disappointed. <br/>The fish of the day was very thin, small, overcooked Tarakihi, which was well under sauced making for a very dry meal that had great potential if consideration was made with regards the combined textures.<br/>Not restaurant quality and more suitably a cafe.<br/>Disconnected ratio of money for value.<br/>Deserts and coffee would be the only reason to return. :(<br/>Service staff very accommodating. :)

Each time I came in I received very good service, coffee was excellent, and food was very good too, particularly the carrot cake- very generous amount of cream cheese icing, cake itself was moist and full of dried fruit and nuts! Yum. Also love the decor!

We came here last year for mother's day and we had a great experience dining here... I also love their desserts and I really like the place...

Very nice. Our drinks were served superfast and the meals shortly after that. Fresh delicious ingredients cooked right. Likely the best coffee I have had and a great way to start the day. :-)

nice cafe with great food and friendly staff. Great place for a quick coffee or family dine or a dessert night. Loved everything except the struggle for parking.

Haven't been to circus circus in a few years but decided to try my once favourite again for lunch, wasn't the best. The food was below average and mine was cold, (ordered the cauliflower fritters) no flavour at all in them expect for the goats cheese. Portion size was good but presentation lacked in a big way. My mum ordered the fish burger and again was bland with nothing special about it. The only good thing was the store brought chips and mayo that came with it. Coffees were average as well.
Maha Osman
Nice restaurant, great food, amazing desserts and lovely staff. Thank you for making my visit worth the drive from over the bridge every time over the last 7 years :-)

Just another nice cafe to add to the Mt Eden collection! The place looks like a circus, with plenty of seating and waiters(tresses) to go around. Had a yum handmade gnocchi, fish burger and chocolatey cake and tart for dessert! (Recommended not to get the hot chocolate as well... because it would be a bit ott there!) Would definitely come visit again

Have been to this popular restaurant few times for dinner & love their location, Circus character theme, their ambiance, seating arrangement, their service staff, their Chefs are top class, & the food is divine! The portions are superbly prepared, ample, very very good value for money and a top of the ladder place to dine in. I particularly like the manner in which they have different dining levels and areas. Their service is a true delight every time, the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu and yes the desserts are just too good. Tried a few dishes and have found each one very very superbly Prepared and presented. Highly recommended to all for a cozy, lively and yet private dinner.

Circus circus has my favourite chocolate cake! The icing is rich and cake super moist. Always love coming here for cake and coffee. They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Justine Klassen
I've dinned here twice and ordered baked crepes both times because it was something I wanted to go back for. (The second time was a little unsatisfying though.) The service is great but I had to wait a bit for the baked crepes both times because of the time consuming process I'm guessing. I think the recent menu doesn't include baked crepes, unfortunately so I'll have to go find another go to dish.
Rebecca
I hate leaving bad reviews but from the handful of times I've been here I really don't know what the hype is about. The food is expensive and, at best, average. They have no vegan options and are so confused when you ask to veganise anything. The best thing about Circus Circus is that kids love the decorations.
Melissa
I havent been out to try any new places in so long... it's tragic. Anyway, I went to Circus Circus cafe for afternoon tea after my parents said their coffee was really good there. Got some Frappes and juice which were nice. <br/><br/>The tiramisu was alright but the CHOCOLATE CAKE WAS SO GOOOD. It wasn't overly sweet and the texture was really nice. It wasn't dry at all. I feel like I couldve eaten 2 😁 <br/>Update: I went to try the food and ordered their homemade hash browns with poached eggs and bacon and it was deeelish hahah. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and I liked how crispy the bacon was. The hash browns itself were flavourful and I would definitely order this again.

The perfect place for breakfast with friends.<br/>Meals were delivered quickly followed up with great coffee.<br/>The service is friendly and the food is scrumptious.<br/>The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, the homemade hash browns are great.

We met relatives for brunch at Circus Circus today.   When we arrived the place was pretty full.  We were greeted warmly and while we were waiting on the other couple the staff set up a table and reserved it for us.   We ordered the Mushrooms (unfortunately the first choice Cauliflower fritters were sold out) and Vanilla pancakes with a side order of hash cakes.  The other couple had the Chicken burger and the Big Top big breakfast.  The Mushrooms were a mixture of assorted mushrooms, with thin noodles and served on sourdough bread, and in a deliciously creamy and tasty citrus sauce.  The pancakes went down well but would have been a very light meal without the addition of the superb potato cakes. The big breakfast was declared as great as it looked, and the chicken burger beautifully moist.  The service was first class, and the meals were delivered surprisingly quickly given that the place was packed.

Really average coffee and slices. Can't really say much great, it's just okay. Coffee a little bland and very weak. Might return if in the area, it's a cute location. But this could be improved.

Been here a few times usually for coffee and a bite.<br/><br/>Came here today for lunch. I got the homemade hash browns, poached egg, bacon, hollandaise sauce with rocket . Good sized hash browns that were tasty and had a good browned crust holding them together. Bacon was well cooked (which I love). I enjoy this new way of eating hash browns instead of just bacon and egg on toast. From the other three dishes similar from other Cafes this was my favourite.<br/><br/>My partner for the chicken burger. I had a little nibble and the brioche bun was light and crisp. The chips were well seasoned and had a light sauce to accompany them. Personally, I would love to see a bit of bacon in it but that's because I love bacon and I am sure you can ask for a extra cost.<br/><br/>I enjoyed my latte. My partner got a caramel latte as he has a sweet tooth and he added more sugar. Not too much of a sugary coffee fan so my coffee was perfect for me.<br/><br/>Would love to come back and try the dinner menu

Food is good, coffee has its good days and its bad days here. Its very spacious, quite a lot bigger than it looks. It also gets quite busy here, but still the food and drinks come out promptly. Their filo pastries are always a win for me.
Sophia Ignateva
The place is okey. It's really big. The food is okey, coffees are quite bad, didn't really enjoy it. It has a huge variety of cakes, and the slices are very big.

Have been here few times and never been disappointed. Their carrot cake is the best I have had so far. Its a family favourite. Staff are friendly and service is good.

First time dinner at Circus Circus, we ordered lamb shanks and 500g pork ribs. The shanks well cooked, the ribs full of flavor with home made chips.. Then we ordered creme brûlée for desert. The desert just deserve 1 point , too watery, even the caramel on top just sort piece of caramel, we can't crack it with our spoon.. The services and the mains 5/5 but the desert a big disappointment... So 4.0 from me...

We turned up to Circus Circus after a long trip back to Auckland for a late night snack. Arriving at 9.50pm and ordering at 9.56pm, we were told their kitchen closes at 10pm. I pointed out that it was not yet 10pm but the rude lady informed me that they had decided to close early and it was not possible to order our dishes. I know they were probably tired but if you advertise the kitchen closes at 10pm, it should not close prior. Get a grip - this is not the way to treat valued locals.

Good place to have brunch and nice coffee. I've been to Circus 5+ times, and they never let me down. I can always expect good quality of food/beverage and awesome customer service.

Ambience was excellent. Good place after dinner. Offering good cups of coffee. We ordered some desserts from their cabinet and the gluten free brownie was lovely as well as the tiramisu.
Monique Porteous
A Mt Eden classic, I think everyone and their mum knows about this place! 😂 The exterior of the restaurant is really unique and the interior follows suit. The service is very fast paced but slightly rushed and I felt as if I was an inconvenience to the server almost. Aside from that, the menu has a lot of great options for brunch, lunch and dinner that would cater to many dietary requirements. Tried the vanilla pancakes (new to the menu - not on zomato yet 😞) and the eggs on toast with bacon and hash browns added. All were very tasty and wholesome + filling! Only downside was that the pancakes were slightly burnt on the bottom. Everything was pretty good and had a home made feel to it 🏠

The carrot cake is AMAZING! I have had some amazing meals here and some not so great ones. The staff their are great though and the coffee is always good too.
Paris
Had fish special which was a bit over cooked and quiet plain others had chicken burger nothing to special not bad all a bit over cooked though. Tiramisu was nice but sponge biscuits hard as too fresh. Overall not that amazing but not terrible

Love the place & food! The service was excellent! Fast & efficient... Would recommend to anyone. Be it breakfast or lunch! Easy parking too!

I have come here for both brunch and dinner now, and I do like Circus Circus.<br/><br/>One of my friends is obsessed with their chocolate cake and their bowl like lattes, which I have to say, I am a fan of too. I really loved how big it was, and it's under $5. Love love that, would come back for more.<br/><br/>For brunch I ordered steak, eggs and fries, which was served in a huge portion and I think was a great size for the price. The steak was a bit bland even though it has herb butter on it, but I think that might be because I find all steak bland. Chips and eggs were great! I came on a Sunday, and getting a seat was nearly impossible.<br/><br/>For dinner, I got the chicken burger which I had my doubts about since I don't like grilled chicken, but it was pretty good. I would totally recommend. Going from the pictures of the other mains, I'm not sure I would ever get a different meal, because I don't think they look that great. <br/><br/>Ambience was good, with good decorations, nice and polite service although the weird old man voice recording that played in the toilet was slightly unnerving and I didn't really enjoy that...<br/><br/>I am disappointed with their desserts though. The carrot cake looks devine with the huge slab of icing, but I got the Banoffee pie and also tried the tiramisu.<br/><br/>The portion size for the dessert was tiny. And I didn't not like the presentation of the Banoffee pie in a glass, I think it made it look smaller, or look like it would be easy to get away with dishing out smaller portions. I have definitely had better Banoffee pies- Bricklane in New Lynn is still in my heart for their Banoffee pie being $9 on a Thursday and is a thick slice with ice cream on the size. A small glass of a layer of cream and bananas does not compare. I also thought that their tiramisu lacked flavour. It was like a sponge soaked in diluted coffee and a lot of cream. Not a fan.<br/><br/>I would definitely come back, but only for specific meals. Very nice interior. Will not be getting dessert again!
Frank
This place is a bit of an institution in Mt Eden, with its red clown theme :-) Probably one of my favourite cafes in Mt Eden. There are plenty of cakes to choose from the cabinet and a good breakfast/lunch menu. We have friends who when the visit from San Fran have to come here for the Banoffee Pie it is that good...! The salmon eggs benny was delightful and coffee also great. The interior layout (multi levels and rooms) is very unique and adds character and staff very friendly, definitely worth a brunch stop!

On Saturday, we had an early dinner at 6:30. The 2 pieces of garlic baguettes were good to start socialising with friends.  My wife had crispy pork belly with veggie & apple purée, & I had market fish (snapper) with parmesan risotto. My friends had lamb shank with garlic mesh & veggie and fish as well. All mains were nicely plated & my fish was well-cooked & tasted superbly; (risotto was also excellent). We had baked lemon meringue pie & crème brûlée as dessert - pie crust was slightly too hard, but still very nicely made. <br/>(Food - 4/5; Service - 4.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)<br/><br/>P.S. Hundreds of photos are up already. Here I'll post photos of the mains.

I cannot recommend this place enough. <br/><br/>Consistently exceptional service, great coffee and a delectable array of treats are a winning combination. Oh and there are real-life circus recordings that play in the loo. Bonus. <br/><br/>My friends and I come here often, normally for brunch/lunch or dessert, and we can't complain. Top recommendations include the carrot cake, the mushrooms on toast, and the excellent muffins. The frappes are also amazing. Added to this is the attention to detail. As with the loos, it seems that the people here haven't overlooked anything. Outdoor heating, snuggly rugs, an up-to-date magazine selection, and constant attention to there customers, there's really nothing that's worthy of of complaint. <br/><br/>Oh, one thing though. We have been die hard fans of the banoffee for years. We've spotted a new iteration of this in the cabinet. It brought tears to our eyes to see a pie-in-a-glass assemblage rather than our old favourite, a rich, glistening, thick-crusted cake/pie/tart hybrid. Please, bring it back!

i normally get a coffee here because they are open till late. and staffs are very friendly. good atmosphere !!! easy to car park. i did not try to meal something. I think it would be good. i tried a few dessert, tasty is good. they prepare blanket for costumer and they always take care the costumers !!! it's very great. i would be back soon !

Circus circus has come a long way and its always a pleasure going to such an iconic place but I do think with its rise in popularity it may have also lost the fundamental things that make it the place its used to be! some of their cabinet food wasnt exactly mouth-watering and unfortunately I only now like to while away my time here with my face planted into that gigantic cup of coffee!
Sarah Parke
If you need a quick reasonably priced meal, this is definitely the place to go! They do a fantastic chai latte too. The service wasn't bad with pay as you go, but I do prefer table service. #gidschallenge

Circus Circus really stands out in Mt Eden with its bright colours and circus-themed vibe. I've only ever come here for the cabinet food. The few times that I've been here, the food has just been okay. The salad I once had (takeaway) was quite bland and overpriced. I've never dined in so I can't give an extensive review but from my experiences here I probably wouldn't come back.
Nikhil Gujar
Good mocha lattes and breakfast menu. Love their big top breakfast and home made hash browns. A bit pricey but worth it. Staff are lovely and friendly and their chocolate cake is probably one of the best ones

Busy place. Good ambience. Superb service.<br/>Would love to see more variety for food and maybe options for ice-creams too - but with the range available the taste is simply brilliant. <br/>Won't think twice before going to Circus Circus next time.

This place is always busy. I went there on Sunday rainy morning and it was still busy! We just orders food from the fridge because we didn't want to wait for food when it was really busy like the day. <br/><br/>Coffee was great, the food was alright. Nothing fancy about that and service was really good even though they were so busy. I like the decoration and I think that is what attract people to go there.

Walking into Circus Circus, I knew the vibe was exactly what I was looking for, and that the service was going to be great. The lovely blonde "barmaid", as she jokingly called herself, was very friendly and helpful. <br/>We were seating at the perfect outdoor table, now being served by an English waiter who also gave top service.<br/>The reason I'm not giving Circus Circus a 5* rating, is because of the food. Very average for the price. I had the eye fillet, and asked for it medium rare. Most parts of the steak were well done, with the lightest part being medium well. The red wine jus was average, as were the vegetables. I would consider it pub food. Overcooked pub food. <br/>In credit to the chefs though, they did split a dish into two plate for my friends that wanted to share. I thought that was quite attentive.

My dress code for the day: pink Abercrombie tshirt with United Colours of Benetton pleated skirt, black tights, red Converse shoes, and trench coat.. What I usually wear, really. Our hungry selves stepped on a bus this morning to Mt Eden, where we shared a big carrot cake between the two of us, M and I, and an English Tea for me, and a Cappuccino for her. I am getting into tea these days, since it seems like the healthier option.
Misty
We've been here a few times with the 2-for-1 Entertainment Book voucher (pity they reduced it to 25% off!). The food is good but it's so busy here, don't know what all the fuss is about.
Jessica Teasdale
I've been to circus circus twice now and I have to say I'm always slightly underwhelmed! I've heard such amazing things about this place but I thought it was average at best. <br/><br/>The inside is huge which is a good thing as you hardly ever have to wait for a table. The banoffee pie was pretty good! But not so amazing that I would return for that alone. I had the waffles with grilled banana and bacon, again they were tasty but pretty ordinary! <br/><br/>Service is always pretty good though. Probably wouldn't return again though as I think there are much better cafes in the area!
Clint Jacka
Well when we got there it was packed..but they attempted to seat us anyway..we got a in a row bench next to clear wind break..probly not agood spot..wasnt waiters that seated us either, had to go and try find ourselves.<br/>Sat for along time, no one came atal to serve us..so no drinks first..we gave up in the end and left.<br/>So rating not on food..didn't get to try, seating bad, service real bad.<br/>Guess to busy to bother with every customer..may go back to try food.
Shelly
Came to check out the hype of this place with my sister. The interior is very interesting! And i was quite surprised at the size of the place, but i felt they didn't have enough staff to accommodate the whole area. We went in for desserts, when we got there the cabinet was empty, so we were given the dessert menu to sit down. Had the creme brûlée which was the perfect texture!
HJ
Quirky, cosy and cool. Circus circus is a great spot for a meal or coffee. There is plenty of seating however they always seem to be pretty full. There is lots of heating and even a fire place so its always nice and warm, perfect for the cooler months. The hot chocolates are great value for money – they are quite big! Yet to try a meal here but the cakes and sweet treats in the cabinet are always good, however a little pricey. <br/>
Vitale Eti
Even though there's lots of seating @ CC, we always struggle to get a seat. But when we do, we always leave happy. We pop in usually for coffee and maybe something sweet. It's definitely a fave w. the "young n's" on a Fri night and a popular spot for locals.
FoodLoco
I like this place.. it gets very busy on sat and sun morning.<br/>The food is same as every other cafe but I like their eggs bene with salmon their big breakfast with big bowl of hot chocolate
Lovefood
Came in for dinner on a usual Monday night. <br/>Atmosphere is pretty good and staff are very friendly and helpful. However , the food really let me down. I ordered a crispy pork belly and didnt enjoy it all. It came in a huge piece and was jus not appealing. My friend ordered the lamb shank but I wasn't able to take a photo because he was just too hungry so he just dug into it so quick. The lamb shank was very plain. It was jus brown , no greens or anything. For the price they charge , I believe the food should be way better.

I went here in the weekend to catch up with friends. It was quite busy on a Sunday morning but we managed to get a table. It was my first time here and I didn't expect the place to go on at the back. It was fairly chaotic but the staff were attentive. <br/><br/>We were seated near the small kitchen so it was quite loud especially if someone was piling the plates. Anyway, I got a mocha and the burger to eat. <br/><br/>The burger was nice but the fries were not as crispy and soggy for my liking. It was a good serving though as it wasn't too much. My friend got the winter salad and it was big but it looked really good. She said she enjoyed it.

Yummy!! Is all I have to say for this place. If you need a good pick me up coffee this is the place! Always get a side of the carrot cake though, one of the best you could have.

Beautiful place, inside and out.<br/>Been here a few times for breakfast now and the staff have been consistently friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I notice that they are attentive to who their regulars are and what they want, which is always nice of café staff to do.<br/><br/>I've had the hash browns, waffles and bacon, and their sauteéd mushrooms on toast; they were all delicious, very nicely cooked and well presented. Not to mention how deliciously they make their mochaccinos! This place is definitely worth the visit -- and the search for a parking spot.<br/><br/>Definitely coming back here. I would love to try their dinner menu.
Dianca Mitchell
Was very much keen to try this but found the food average and not worth going back for. Service was quick and we got our order fairly quickly which was a plus.

Went here with my parents for dinner. They use to frequent but hadn't been for quite a while, and don't think it will be a place we rush back to.<br/>Service when it came to ordering was quick, however we were left waiting 45minutes for our food, so are glad we got garlic bread to start with, which was good but nothing fantastic.<br/>My mother and partner had the pork belly, the crackling on my mum's was slightly burnt in one area, she said her's was delicious, my partner and I thought it was a bit dry and not tender and the crackling was standard, and it didn't come with enough puree. Partner said the roast pork he got from a roast shop was better than his meal.<br/>I had the eye fillet steak, which was tough to cut and eat and was just a tad over cooked from the rare i asked for. The potato gratin was too peppery and also potatos were a bit hard. <br/>The veges served with the meals above were undercooked and seeing as the meals took so long to come out i expected they would have been on point. <br/>My dad had the vege cannelloni, as he use to have a vege pancake there, he was underwhelmed with the meal and sad it lacked flavour and that the pasta for the cannelloni was too thick in areas.<br/>I personally could have cooked a better pork belly, eye fillet steak and potato gratin than what we were served so felt money was a bit wasted.<br/>The place is unique and it is a great pity that the food and service are now letting the restaurant down a lot. Doubt we will return.

Circus Circus' cheesecake is HEAVEN on a plate! Breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner - this place is awesome. From the Big Top Breakfast to the baked cannelloni to the eye-fillet and yes, always worth a second mention, the cheesecake, my meals have always been excellent. Love the restaurant layout, crazy little circus activities over head, and the atmosphere. A very reliable and highly recommended option.

We decided to drive out for lunch during a uni break and it was so worth it! The coffee here at Circus Circus tasted better AND it was cheaper than the cafes around uni! $4.10 for a mochaccino.<br/><br/>I ordered the home-made waffles with roasted peaches, berry coulis, orange crème fraîche and maple syrup. It looked amazing! The presentation was pretty much 10/10 and the colours were so vibrant! It was a little bit too sweet though, so i ended up eating half of it and finishing off my friend's meal instead. It was however, one of the cheaper options on the menu at $14.90.<br/><br/>My friend got home-made hash browns with streaky bacon, wilted spinach, hollandaise and poached eggs. It still looks amazing even though he complained a little about the hash browns being soggy. I had a few bites though when the outside was still crispy, and it was delicious. This was $16.90. <br/><br/>The service was great and the interior was spacious, and it was a good environment to eat in.<br/><br/>Circus Circus is definitely worth a visit! :)<br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Had a light afternoon tea/dessert session with my friend here. The ambience was great and the staff were all very courteous. However, I'm not a huge fan of their baguette (?)/bread thing as I found the toppings flavours a bit too strong. It was a mix of sourness (tomato) and too little cheese. That being said, I'm quite opinionated when it comes to cheese, usually only eat camembert. The dessert experience was, however, a wonderful one! Really enjoyed the banoffee pie as well as the crème brulee. The desserts are slightly over-priced to me given their portions.

Food was amazing coffee was lovely would definitely come back for more lol loved how there were blankets outside for customers loved the atmosphere the aroma of the place bring filled with there delicious hot meals coming out the kitchen etc pleasant night happy customer would come back again soon 👍🏼😍😍

My partner and I had brunch here last Saturday morning. The service was great, the waiter was attentive and seated us immediately. <br/>Now I love chai latte, it was unfortunate that the one I received was quite watered down and I couldn't taste anything apart from the cinnamon. I  do prefer chai latters to be spicy but this was a little too spicy for my liking. I took a sip and burnt my tongue & throat straightaway, it was far too hot. I thought cafes were meant to serve coffee at a drinkable hot temperature. Also I ordered the Vanilla Waffles which looked delicious. The comination of grilled banana, bacon, maple syrup & waflle was just right. There are two layers of waffles where the bacon was sandwiched in between. But when you eat the top waffle and lift some of the bacon off I noticed there was no maple syrup on the bottom waffle. So the bottom layer was too dry to eat with the bacon & banana. I had to ask my partner if I could have his small bowl butter for my bottom layer of waffle just to give it that moisture and flavour. <br/>My partner ordered the latte and the Big Top Breakfast - fortunately, he enjoyed both. Maybe it was just me but the service and atmosphere was good overall.
Table For One
The good thing about Circus Circus is that it's got a lot of space, especially for groups of 5+, compared to the other cafes in Mt Eden. The kitchen is also open until 10pm so it's really convenient for last minute group catch ups, and the food comes out quickly.<br/>However I've gotta say that apart from the Tiramisu the food is nothing special. I've had the fried chicken as it's one of my favorite things to eat and least favorite things to cook. The chicken was still on the bone and there wasn't much meat on it at all. The side of chips comes in a tiny bowl, my friend's hot chocolate was bigger.<br/>When I last came here my friend had a takeaway coffee from another cafe as she'd already ordered it and then our plans had changed. I understand that it's not a good look to bring in food from other cafes but considering it was a small cup and that there was a large number of us who were going to make them a fair few dollars we thought they might make an exception. Instead the staff member we dealt with was a bit abrasive and my friend had to stand outside in the cold at night and finish her drink before joining us again and ordering another hot drink from Circus Circus to actually enjoy.

What I love most about this place is the smoking area! Unfortunately the food is mediocre; I don't find it displeasing but nothing to rave about. Desert portions are huge, banoffee pie is the one I like best from their selection.

Even though it was a busy morning the staff were prompt with their services. Extremely friendly staff. Bought the big top breakfast, there is not a single negative criticism that I could give on the food. Definitely a must go cafe.

Always a familiar, cosy vibe when visiting Circus Circus. Sampled the peach crumble tea and banoffee pie with my friend. Pie was definitely on the pricey end but was very rich, would've been nicer if it was heated. Tea on the other hand was perfect!

This place is one the most popular spots in Mount Eden. They have nice desserts and food here always come in good size portions. The quality of the food is "Ok" and services are fine as well.
A Culinary Affair
The back story : Proudly nestled in amongst the shops at Mt Eden Village, Circus Circus has been a go-to cafe for me for many years. Boasting a cheerful bright red exterior with signature circus characters out front - it's every child's (and mine) dream. The sunny interior extending right to the back where the real desserts lie makes it a perfect destination for casual catch ups and lazy brunches n lunch.<br/><br/>Setting: Walking in, you are greeted straight away with colourful cabinet food and a huge blackboard menu. The wooden floor panelling and rosy red interior is a real pick me up even on a rainy day. Seriously, the place oozes colour and vibrancy - and with upbeat staff taking ur orders and a circus themed bathroom blaring circus orders - how much more circus could we want ? The cafe has both a smoking and non-smoking area, and an outdoor and indoor area - something to cater for all ! If you prefer some quieter - the back room next to the takeaway cakes gives you some intimacy for more personal conversations, whilst the tables near the sidewalk reflect the bustling nature of Mt Eden Village<br/><br/>Food: This place does delicious brunch options as well as cabinet food. Their massive sausage rooms and pastries will fill you up - I had trouble finishing my chicken and leek filo. I've been here in the past too for brunch and their servings are very generous at medium range prices. They have a great selection of slices (I had a peppermint slice on this occasion - pictured ) as well as cakes for those wanting a sweet treat. I have to mention the hot chocolate too - while not the best in terms of chocolate content ( it doesn't use bars of Whittakers) it is up there in terms of size. Rich chocolatey creamy goodness in a soup bowl. The menu also offers healthier options such as chicken on walnut flat bread and gluten free cakes.<br/><br/>Occasion : Catch up with friends over brunch or lunch; also suitable for families<br/><br/>Revisit potential : 8/10

We'd sort of regarded Circus Circus as a place that we used to enjoy once because of the good food, good coffee and great service.Having experienced the polar opposite on at least two occasions (except for the coffee) we'd put it off our list of options.Decided today to have a late snack and drink with a friend so thought we'd give it one more go.Food (cakes) was served promptly and we were told that our drinks "would arrive soon".And then.....we waited....and waited...and waited (20 minutes minimum) for two coffees and a tea. When it FINALLY arrived there were the coffees but the tea was a teapot of boiling water and no cup or saucer.I'm pretty tolerant and will put up with a lot when I go out but this was testing even my patience.I couldn't fault the food or the coffee but I'm sorry, Circus Circus you've lost our custom for good.
Heidi
I have stopped by Circus Circus a number of times for coffee and a few times for lunch. It is a great place to take friends for lunch with the quirky decor. Meals are of generous size. Yet to try their cakes. They look very impressive in the cabinet as you order. Great service.
Vivien @ KJAS Blog
The food and service here is amazing! The surroundings are really casual but bright and fun, with a hanging circus-themed mobile overhead, which makes it perfect for a daytime meal. I think it's especially nice for a leisurely brunch or lunch.<br/><br/>I went for the homemade hash browns, which were not just pure potato goodness but had some finely chopped herbs too, and were served with bacon, two beautifully poached eggs (arguably the most well poached eggs I've experienced) and a rocket salad, all on top of hollandaise sauce. I felt like there was too much sauce for how much there was on the plate, and maybe if you're a huge eater the one dish won't be enough, but the cooking more than makes up for everything. Hash browns were crispy on the outside and rich on the inside, and as I mentioned the eggs were perfectly executed. <br/><br/>Their steak and chips is another really good option for lunch, and although they didn't realise they had brought out the wrong knife at first, as soon as they realised their mistake they brought out a steak knife which was good that they were being attentive as one ate. The eggs were again fried to perfection (whoever is the chef is really good with eggs) and the chips deliciously crispy and thankfully not oversalted.<br/><br/>A great hangout for brunch or lunch here.

Average experience... Overpriced for what we ordered, stuff that were ordered were things we could have easily slapped up at home... Only good thing was the waiter was on form & kept us entertained... Wouldn't go back there again unless there was a big change in the food front... Disappointing!

Recently returned from overseas and took two friends out for dinner to say thanks for putting me up for a few weeks. I thought let's head to Mt Eden as its close.<br/><br/>Circus Circus came to mind as I used to quite enjoy their coffee and breakfast/ brunches. This time it was a disappointment. Service was poor, they lost my friends order somehow which meant two of us had our mains while they cooked his. They forgot forks and knives and the food wasn't up to standard. <br/><br/>On top of this they offered a free round of drinks but once I looked on the receipt they added another main to cover the cost.<br/><br/>It's a shame really as I used to come here regularly.<br/>
Temptation Cakes Auckland
Just been for dinner I had the broccoli and potato soup with garlic bread my partner the Laksa both very tasty.<br/>The banoffee we had for dessert was lacking caramel though.Speedy service lovely staff.

Should have taken a photo before, but however I ordered a gluten free choc cookie, baked raspberry cheesecake and a FW. Service was below average a bit, as they jst wanted me to pay and take a seat. Food was below average to my standards. I mark my experience on the environment as it has a young vibe, unique theme that definitely stands out frm other cafes. Im not sure I am keen to try dinner here tho, I pick Frazers over Circus Circus for cafes in Mt Eden.

Great coffee and food. <br/>I love the circus theme. You don't see many themed restaurants or cafes around. <br/><br/>We had their breakfast. My poached egg was perfect. My boyfriends dish smelt amazing!!

Desserts are really good. Tiramisu is a chart-topper, allowing for a touch of extra sweetness. There is a lot of scope to improve the ambience for an upmarket feel. Service also needs improvement.

I enjoyed our valentine's date in circus circus.. Nice ambience.. Very accomodating and friendly staffs.. Although the place is bit tight especially during holidays, it is well maintained place.. Food is yummy although bit costly but worth it..

This is our Girls Go To Place for a late night coffee, hot choc, green tea and cake......yes healthy life. I came here last week with my girls and got the Sticky Date Pudding and my friends got the Chocolate mudcake. The servings are massive and their prices match accordingly. At $9 per slice: it is full of rich, dense, mud chocolate and a thick layer of cream dark chocolate. Such a big helping you need to be ready to divulge. Unfortunately no one finished their cake and I recommended to share a piece next time, perfect treat for a date night for two. I for one, demolished my sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce. Yes. And also had green tea... So was healthy... Okay bye

Been here quite few times. I organized a birthday there today not knowing that they don't really allow birthday cakes bought from elsewhere to be consumed there. But they were nice to allow it and make an exception as we genuinely didn't know. I think that was brilliant! The food is awesome! I will be back, that's for sure!
Hungry Hippo
Been here numerous times because there is always seating available as it is a large shop. I was not completely satisfied with th service they provide as when you order th dessert or food from th plate, every time they just place/dump it on th plate and you hold it yourself to your seat.. But they do make lovely coffees, especially lattes. Th cake is divine- highly recommend the tiramisu and banoffee cake

I went here for brunch with a few friends and was super excited because it looks so trendy. I had a salad and while it was nice enough I wasn't terribly impressed. In fact everyone in my brunch party was a little underwhelmed. The flavours were there but just not punchy enough! The service was great though and it was a comfortable spot to enjoy brunch - not too crowded or noisy. I'd love to go again and try something out of the cabinet instead of off the menu because the goodies in the cabinet looked to die for!

Have had 3 evening meals at Circus Circus. Like the atmosphere, friendly staff.<br/><br/> The food is good value. <br/><br/> Have not tried the daytime menu but always seems busy. Pity I am too busy to have lunch.
Lee V
It's a cute little cafe located in mt eden village. I haven't tried much of the the food, but the drinks are pretty standard. We have always been able to get seats because it is quite a spacious cafe. Good for brunch catch-ups or to have a lazy coffee. They also have plenty of parking around the place and behind the cafe.
EssJay
Not sure what the hype is here but the coffee was alright. Other items are a bit on the pricey side. Overall its a nice place to hangout and chill with friends.

Went to Circus Circus for dessert. The fact that it wasn't as fresh probably caused the desserts to be a little dry and lacking in flavor. The meringue tips were quite soft, cheesecake far too dense, but the mouse was definitely done right. Would go back to try other things but wouldn't reorder the same things<br/><br/>Came a second time and tried their Tiramisu and White Choc Cheesecake. Was quite nice actually! I enjoyed it ^.^ Cheesecake was a bit too sour though... And service was definitely lacking this time.

I have seldom been so disappointed by food at famous restaurants but this one made me sad. I suppose it's only good for the desserts and drinks.

Service was very good, attentive and friendly. Quality of the food was very good, it was busy but come on guys please poach the eggs properly, eggs benny with hard boiled eggs was a huge disappointment. Wasn't just my meal but my partners as well.

Went there for a catch up with a friend. We both ordered the Chocolate Mousse Pot. It was yum. Portion size was great. I loved the ambiance and the cafe decor!

Went to Circus Circus yesterday with my antenatal group. We have booked the place prior, but we were sat next to the smoker area. We have to ask the smokers to move further down, not sure what the booking staff was thinking?! I ordered a berry smoothie and a bowl of crinkle cut chips. Smoothie was great, got a good yoghurt taste but a bit sweet. The chips was very disappointing, the portion was very small for $5.50. The was just a bit bigger that the standard coffee cup like size of a ramekin. Everyone on the table was shock re the portion and the chips were all small broken pieces, it's like the last bits of the bag. Staff cleaning tables around us spraying cleaning fluid out in the air, not concerning how this will affect babies. Very disappointing experience as I would expect more from Circus Circus.

Cool family based cafe- bring my daughter here cause the setting, foods alright, coffees good if you haven't been here it's def worth a try- just for the scene- food is typical cafe food

This place is great for breakfast or lunch and you can expect pretty good food and service here. I ordered the vegetarian cannelloni which was tasty and the ultimate comfort food. My dad ordered the hash browns with eggs and salmon. The salmon was nice and rare and the hash browns were very flavorsome. For dessert I had the lemon meringue tart and my dad had the sticky date pudding. The lemon and the meringue components of the tart were very good, the lemon was exceptionally tart but alas, the tart base was extremely hard and almost impossible to break! When lemon meringue is on the dessert menu, the other items don't even get a look in, needless to say I am obsessed with lemon desserts. What a shame that the pastry was as hard as rock. The service here is friendly but one of the glasses was dirty; tisk, tisk. The staff look happy in their work which is a great sign. I would come back here again; the atmosphere is lively and the décor, unique.
Noeyh Sarah
The cost was too expensive for a student, and the quantity was not much. The food tasted good and I ordered steak with chips. The chips was the most delicious ones I have ever tasted. The steak was average. But the other menus look mouth watering and I want to try again.
Michelle Huynh
Went there for breakfast today. Had a cappuccino. The scrambled egg on toast, home made hash browns poached eggs with cured salmon and the sautéed mushrooms with tarragon cream sauce and bacon <br/><br/>everything was super yummy and over priced by a couple of dollars <br/><br/>service was good but everything took a long time to come out of the kitchen

We've been a loyal to Circus Circus for over 6years, we went from love it, love it, like it, still can put up with it to disappointed and now never want to return again! <br/><br/>Circus circus use to have the perfect package! The atmosphere , the great food, exciting menu and awesome stuff! We noticed a large deteriorate quality of their food in our Recent visits. <br/><br/>The recent change of menu was a great disappointment too. The selection was halved and so do the portion sizes. <br/><br/>I tried to order an iced coffee, was told l can only get a coffee frappé or iced Americano. I then ordered a real smoothie, which l was given an empty glass and a bottled drink. The staffs were undertrained, not familiar with the menu. No one came to check on our food during the last few visits. <br/><br/>Our last visit, we sat there, hearing the manager yelling at someone down the phone and banging his phone on the table for 30 minutes! It was horrifying! <br/><br/>Sad to say, but will have to ditch this long time favourite cafe!
Izzy B
Always a great place to meet friends for a coffee! Great atmosphere and really enjoy the theme the cafe has. Food is good and reasonably priced! <br/>
Tami T
I was super excited to give this one a go! The general building is just absolutely awesome... Such a circus-y feel! (Obviously...) however, I can't help but think that the decor and quirky atmosphere of the cafe outweighed the quality of the food. The food in my opinion, is quite bland and no different to what I could get from the average cafe. I guess it was missing that spark. I'm sorry Circus Circus... I was hoping we would be good friends, but I'm sad to say... Maybe it's not in our destiny.

It's been many years since I visited Circus Circus. I didn’t have good experiences in the past so have avoided for years, but the fact that they have loads of seating and are always busy had me curious. They have a lot of fans so must be doing something right! <br/><br/>We had a 2 for 1 meal voucher so we visited yesterday for brunch. We were amazed at how busy they were on a Tuesday morning. We ordered and paid at the counter found a table out the back.<br/><br/>The decor is circus themed without being too tacky. It's fun and they have lots of nice touches to make your stay more comfortable. Much of the dining area is outdoors or feels outdoorsy and there are blankets if you feel the chill.<br/><br/>He had the Big Top Breakfast ($20) and I had the Hash with Cured Salmon ($19) which we enjoyed with 2 flat whites. The Big Top Breakfast was a huge plate of food with sausages, portobello mushrooms, baked beans, bacon, poached eggs, toast and a hash brown. Really good value. He always orders big breakfasts and often they aren’t quite big enough but this was a generous size. My dish was smaller and perfect for me with hash browns, poached eggs, cured salmon, rocket and plenty of thick, creamy hollandaise. The eggs were great. Smooth and rounded with very runny yolks. We both finished everything on our plates. He enjoyed the coffee and called it “silky” but I found it a little weak. Good portions the food was pretty good.<br/><br/>Counter staff was efficient. Service was super quick and friendly, they had loads of staff on which was great to see.<br/><br/>Happy to have been proven wrong in my assumptions and to see have really upped their game. Glad to return for lunch or dinner.

The atmosphere was amazing here and had plenty of seating available to occupy for different groups. The decor theme was what stood out to me the most, though. We were really hungry so we were glad that the food came quickly despite how busy it was

Brunch with two of my colleque on a sat. Lucky to find us a seated area. Friendly staff, service was top. Coffee was excellent for all of us. I Had the burger meal which was very lovely. Colleque's pasta salad and the prawn salad was very bland they said. Dessert- yum. Atmosphere of the place- kool.

This place probably rates better for its fast service and upbeat atmosphere however food is rather average. Good enough to visit for breakfast if you randomly decide to pop out otherwise other places are worth looking at if you are actually planning.
Candy Boy Food Journey
I don't get why so many people line up to get into this place. Food is very avarage and not worth returning. They seriously need to work on a new menu!

We went for coffee and dessert one night. I was dying to try Circus Circus for the longest time and finally managed to pop in. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake, carrot cake and a chai latte. <br/>The cakes were both amazing and tasty and I really loved the decor. Unfortunately my chai latte never arrived and I had to ask on the way out. <br/>I wasn't too impressed with the customer service. I didn't feel the apology was sincere and I was given a chai in a takeaway cup but was not refunded which I thought would have been appropriate because I did wait 30 minutes before bringing it to their attention. <br/>I probably won't go back to Circus Circus because as good as their cake was, there are other places with good cake and much better customer service.<br/><br/>**Update: I was contacted by Circus Circus. They apologised for the customer service and the lack of staff available to air my complaints to. I have received a voucher from Tina who would like me to go back to Circus Circus and hopefully have a more pleasant experience. I will be using the vouchers as I really did enjoy the cake and the chai latte. I'll update this review once I have returned.

I had my birthday breakfast here. Twas early morning but the staff were all so friendly it almost felt like home. You'd feel comfortable as soon as you enter. The eggs benedict simply the best. A high rating from me definitely.

Great food, great service. Went my girlfriend and she loved the place. People were lovely and the decor was unique. On a hot summer night they opened the doors and allowed for air flow which kept us cool. All in all a great dining experience and at an affordable price

Awesome breakfast place!!! I love their paninis. Very busy but worth it. Their desserts also look sinful so will be going back to try!!! Cant wait.

Litterally one of the best places I've ever tried for breakfast, lunch and brunch and dinners! I recommend this place soooo much, you will NOT be disapointed! :D hands down my go to brunch place!

I visited this place last night - 13. 12. 14. The staff were very friendly and made me and my friends welcome. The crispy skinned salmon, almond cake with pistachios & yoghurt followed by hot chocolate was delicious. Reasonable prices albeit the weather was horrible.

Very popular and busy cafe! <br/><br/>We hadn't been in a while but decided to head out to Mt Eden for Saturday morning breakfast. <br/><br/>I was initially alarmed to see my favourite waffles with bacon, banana and maple syrup were no longer in the menu - replaced by CHOCOLATE waffles with bacon, banana and maple syrup. <br/><br/>Good change. They were DELICIOUS, not too sweet but tasty enough to beat the stodgy blandness which can put me off 3/4 of the way through some waffles. Banana perfectly cooked, loved the crispy bacon, and there was plenty of maple syrup. (This is very important. It's annoying having to ask for more when a kitchen is stingy!)<br/><br/>The kitchen was amazingly quick to get our food out especially given how busy it was. The poor baristas lagged behind - our coffees didn't arrive until after we'd finished eating which disrupted our usual "coffee and newspaper while waiting for food" routine. <br/><br/>Great service. The cafe is popular for a reason.

Come here once a week for desserts with my girlfriend. We usually have the Kahlua chocolate mousse & sometimes the tiramisu. Both are yumm. I have also had the chicken wings hot with the blue cheese sauce which was delish

A very pleasant place for an early brunch with my parents this Saturday morning. I had the salmon hash browns and mum and dad had steak and eggs with chips. I loved the house-cured salmon that was abundant on the plate. The hash browns were a bit too salty, even with the poached eggs to temper the salt. However, not salty enough to send back and I did clear my whole plate! The sirloin steaks that my parents had were cooked exactly as they wanted. The only discordant note of the meal were the chips that came with my folks' steak, egg and chips (I stole some off their plates). They looked amazing: skin-on, handcut? and a nice mixture of crispy little ones and 'meaty' bigger chips. However, the texture was off. They were powdery and not like a fresh chip at all. A favourite breakfast of mine is to take the chips from the previous night's fish and chips and reheat them in a dry, cast-iron frying pan. These tasted like that but with chips that had been drying out in the fridge for a week instead of just overnight. My parents didn't seem to mind, and it was their dishes so it wasn't my place to complain.<br/>The service was perfectly timed and cheery. I do love table service at cafes - I think it makes you order more too. I think the prices are really good too. I had an Entertainment Book voucher so that made it even better.

Small but funky layout with as-expected Circus theme décor. Bunch of kids toys & books in a tight little corner at the back, so not the most practical, especially since it was up at the top level (2 set of steps) and there's no change table for babes.<br/><br/>Meals are good but small and very pricey. A side of fries is $5.50 and it came in a small Chinese soup bowl!  Good crisp chunky fries but over priced. Our 3 yo finished it & declared she was still hungry. <br/><br/>I had the Salmon, again very nice, crispy skin as promised on the menu, just not enough. Mr. had Chicken breast which he shared with the 3 yo, tasty.<br/><br/>Shared a Tiramisu for dessert and I thought it was good, Mr said it wasn't strong enough.<br/><br/>Overall, good food but beware of the high prices and small servings.
Hannah Short
This place has provided amazing lunches throughout four years of uni. A great cafe full of all different salads and yummy soups. I really enjoy the history of this cafe and reading about the first circus performances. Full of life and energy but can be quite busy at times. My favorite cafe in Mt Eden :)
Matt
A good standard of both food and service. Circus circus can be a victim of its own popularity and can unfortunately suffer from being too busy and too cramped. Staff do seem to cope well on the most part, and the food is still a good benchmark.

We all had the big breakfast.  It appeared to be cooked all on the same grill.  Was a tasteless plate of oily food.   All of us thought the same. Could have been an off day perhaps. Coffee was decent. Wont go again. Not at those prices for food that tasted like that.

Nothing gets me excited than interior and decor in a cafe. The atmosphere at Circus Circus is beyond stunning right down to the bone of detailing. From the outside the cafe looks deceivingly small but once you step foot inside, it carries you deep within. It's big but not spacious. My favourite place to sit is inside the room with the fireplace. A great spot for a cosy cup of coffee or a glass of wine. They have given a heap of thought into this setting to create such an enchanting feel, I kudos to their effort. <br/><br/>I have been a regular customer here for many years and they have never let me down on their Iced Mocha Frappe drink. It is by far the best I've had in Auckland. Rich, smooth texture and always done at a perfect blend. Highly recommended.<br/><br/>Circus endeavors to change their menu every so often to keep up with fresh seasonal ingredients and for this reason, they have discontinued some of my favourite dishes there. I feel that the food is not as good there anymore since once upon a time. Nonetheless, they still have a good selection from their menu orders and bites from their food cabinets. What's great about their cabinets is their presentations of various sweets and treats which is very mouthwatering material.<br/> I have never been to another cafe yet that had served the similar cakes and desserts as Circus had done. They are unique in their own trade.<br/><br/>I have not had any bad service however because the cafe is so busy sometimes they aren't as attentive and forget to take your order which had left me sitting there waiting for awhile both lunch and dinner times. All of the other times they do a fine job. <br/><br/>There is perks going either in the daytime or the night time. You can admire the colourful wonders of the decor by day or by night you can catch a magical, romantic and captivating ambiance that the fairy lights bring that shine upon the circus.

Filled with people, but I don't actually see it is worth the value I pay, especially the chips- so oily, but no crispy.
Heidi M
I ordered a hot chocolate and a scone the hot chocolate was one of the better ones i have had<br/>the scone on the other hand had room for improvement.
Rob
Fairly average cafe type place.

One of my favourite cafe's in Auckland.<br/><br/>I've been to Circus Circus for brunch, lunch and casual coffee and dessert date. <br/><br/>Offers wide range of food varietys, good customer service, reasonable price and great atmosphere!
Emma
Went today for lunch with husband and two pre schoolers. The place was packed with its usual queues out the door. Ordered food and coffees. The coffees came out pretty smartly and they were great but it all went downhill from here.  An hour later and the food still hadn't arrived (we'd only orderd bacon and eggs and the bubble and squeak) and the kids had meltdowns. After 40 minutes I asked where our meals were and was told-5 minutes" but 5 minutes turned into ten then 20 mins! Finally the food arrived- and it was awful,- lukewarm and the toast had not been toasted so the eggs were sitting on soft bread. Consequently we hardly touched our meals and left disgusted! No one apologised to us for the delay or offered us more coffees. Will definitely not be going back.
Wendy Main
Great café, consistently good food and excellent service, have been dining here for around 10 years. Good menu, but would love to see some more variety in the glass cabinet such as lasagna, salads or pizza - quick and easy takeaway options. The bubble and squeak is absolutely delicious! It can get quite busy but that's just a reflection of how good it is.<br/><br/>Overall a fantastic very popular café!

Went for an early dinner before working evening shift, very pleased to see they serve &amp; were busy between 4 &amp; 6 pm as this is usually a difficult time. We found the menu enticing &amp; were tempted by several items. We chose lamb shank &amp; stuffed chicken breast &amp; were very happy with our meals &amp; non-alcoholic drinks. The entree of meatballs was lovely, tasty &amp; great presentation of all food. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert. The service by Kent &amp; the other staff was excellent, attentive, quick, but not fussy. We're looking forward to going again.

Tina, you've done it again! <br/>Fannnnnntastic. I wrote a review for you a few years ago on a different website giving you 5 stars as well, but you need another one on here.<br/><br/>Everyone, Circus Circus is my number one cafe. Not only have they been extremely accommodating over the 5 years I've gone there, but they know you personally. It's actually fantastic.<br/><br/>I'd been going for about 2 years, almost every weekend, and then had to move to Wellington. On my last weekend I got a huge hug from the lovely (sorry for this mention, but I'm not sure of her name) Asian Lady behind the counter. She ALWAYS has a smile, ALWAYS makes you laugh, and treats you like her favourite customer every time.<br/><br/>I then returned after being away for 2 and a half years and as I walk in the door she INSTANTLY called out to me saying hello, and saying "how is Wellington?? Are you back up here now for good??"... just like that she instantly made me feel like I was appreciated! You honestly dont get service like that from anywhere.<br/><br/>The food comes out almost as your taking a seat (seriously thats happened several times while the place was packed, and I mean literally) The coffee always comes out well brewed and strong, just the way I like it. And best of all, its all at a great price. And they are only more than too happy to fit your dietary needs.<br/><br/>As we head back to live in wellington yet again this June 2014, Circus Circus will always be my number one cafe, and i'll be sure to visit as I often do when Im here in Auckland on a Business Trip.<br/><br/>Thank you so much, very sincerely from the bottom of our hearts. We wouldn't travel all the way from Kumeu where we live now unless you were worth coming for. <br/><br/>See you folks on the flip side ;) keep well xx

Came here over the weekend for brunch. Was extremely busy, but that is to be expected.<br/><br/>You have to queue on arrival and place your order at the front counter then find yourself an available spot to sit. I don't like not being shown to a table and order from a menu very much, but its not that sort of place so that is fine.<br/><br/>Our coffees came out very promptly and they were fine, but we had to wait a really long time for our food (again they were busy so understandable), but I had finished my coffee by the time the food came out and the waitress seemed a little put out when we asked her for sauce.<br/><br/>Never-the-less, the food was OK. I had the hash browns with poached eggs and bacon, which the potato was a little underdone on but was still edible. My friend had a big breakfast/fry up and did look rather nice.<br/><br/>This was the second time I have been here (first time I only had a bagel with cream cheese which was nice - but not something you can really judge them on). I would go here again if a friend particularly wanted to go to Circus Circus, but if I were choosing somewhere to go in Mt Eden, I would probably try another cafe.
Alex Moka
Don't often come here as it's annoying that you have to queue to order by the door but it's good pretty consistent coffee especially for mt Eden and the service is always polite and efficient. Never eaten here except a cake which was ok and pretty big.
Monique Williams
I always enjoy a visit to circus circus. Not only is the atmosphere and decor amazing, the service and menu are top notch. Staff are more than willing to adapt any dish on the menu for a vegetarian and my little dog is always welcome inside under the tent cover. This restaurant is a long time favorite.
Robert Perry
Quibbles first - I find their cake/dessert selection slightly limited and they could do with one less table in the 'main' area near the counter - too crowded.<br/><br/>That said - service friendly, food delicious, coffee great, and the rest of the quirky layout has lots of nice little spaces to tuck into!
David
Really small and claustrophobic, can't stretch out your arm without poking the next person in the eye. Felt packed in like canned sardines. Hot and stuffy and extremely noisy. <br/><br/>Not sure why it's so busy with people because its food is so so and service blah. I think it's only because it's trendy looking.<br/><br/>Had to wait in line for 10 minutes just to get to the front counter to take my order. Noticed while waiting in line people are having to come up to the front desk and take photos with their phones of the menu, why doesn't this place have printed menus for the tables?<br/><br/>All I want is pancakes, what type of cafe doesn't offer pancakes on their breakfast menu? This place is too cool for pancakes I guess, so they have waffles and I grudgingly order this as I've been waiting in line for ages.<br/><br/>I think these waffles should be good as its their substitute for pancakes. When the plate comes to the table I couldn't be more disappointed. What the hell kinda waffle is this thing? For $14.90 I received one small, floppy, dry, thin as cardboard circle shaped frizzled dough. One banana cut in half. Two pieces of rubbery, in chewable bacon strips, a pitiful dribble of maple syrup and a mountain of powdered sugar.<br/><br/>I do not blame the kitchen staff for the mess I received as I imagine they are just following a set menu etc, but something has to be done about the baddest waffles I have ever come into contact with in my life.<br/><br/>There is a stall at a market I go to which has ten times better waffles than circus circus and the stall is only small-time as well as portable and even they can do a much better job of waffles.<br/><br/>I would not take my American friends there as it would shame me to have them eat such a lame waffle here in NZ. In fact I will not take any friends there as I am never going back.
Becky D.
Go there time and time again, Coffee is 11 out of 10, consistently the best around. We feel like valued customers even though at times they are incredibly busy. All the staff are friendly and the food is great - what more could we ask for.
Brit Cooling
My boyfriend and I love going to Circus Circus for the desserts, their Banoffee Pie is delicious and they always have a great selection of sweets to satisfy my craving. They are efficient servers and we are never waiting long for our order. <br/>I look forward to trying something savoury from their menu some time
Tony Ma
very busy cafe, very odd feel to it, however quite addictive.<br/><br/>The coffees taste like coffee, nothing too surprising or fancy.<br/><br/>They have $10 menus which is quite nice and catchy, however almost all their mains are really really starchy.<br/><br/>Other than that it's not a bad cafe shop with a circus theme to it.<br/><br/>Lots of korean customers<br/><br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Wait time: 3/5<br/>Environment: 3/5<br/>Food Quality: 3/5<br/>Food Quantity: 3/5<br/>Price range: $25+ pp
Emily
Just had a really nice brunch &amp; coffee there. It was busy but the waiters and waitresses were really friendly regardless. Guess that is why it is so packed. Sat out in the deck area and when it started raining they rolled down the plastic blinds for us which was really nice. Excellent service excellent atmosphere excellent people. Thanks!
Tabitha
Have been here twice now, once for brunch and again for lunch. Both times incredibly efficient service even though the cafe was reasonably full. Drinks began to arrive before we even had time to find a table. Had the bubble and squeak both times because it's just that good. Cool decor too and the layout means even when it's busy you don't feel like it's too cramped or loud.
Pete Hodkinson
I genuinely believe that this is the best coffee in Auckland and in my top 3 in NZ personally - probably number one. <br/>Good selection of foods on the menu, super friendly staff and good service overall. <br/>Cool atmosphere and versatile spaces throughout the place.<br/>I LOVE Circus Circus and jump on any excuse to go there be it for a date, work-related meeting or anything in between.<br/>Boom! <br/>Thanks for being wonderful!
John Coyle
Why is Circus Café my second office?<br/><br/>Staff are efficient, get talking to them and discover a variety of people and backgrounds.<br/>Food is tasty, well presented, and in generous potions<br/>Service is prompt, even when very busy, which is often<br/>I can easily see why Circus attracts its customers. Its regular busyness is testimony to its popularity with so many people in an area with plenty of good competition.
Julia Connolly
I can't recommend Circus Circus highly enough - I took my elderly parents and sister with two young children there for brunch just after Christmas. The service was amazingly fast which helps when you have young and old patrons! and everyone loved their food - great friendly service and great food. A brilliant place to take guests from out of town.
Sue Berry
We went there last night for a coffee and a shared dessert of Bannoffee. We had pretty good service, nice atmosphere and the banoffee was not too rich - overall good experience - will def go there again.
Tim Woolfield
We have been going to Circus Circus Cafe off and on for years and more regularly in the past year. We always get excellent &amp; friendly service. The coffee is usually top-rate. It is relaxed but can be very busy which is always a good sign. The service is usually really prompt.<br/>I have no problems meeting people here for pleasure or business.
Shawn
I have been a customer of Circus Circus Cafe for 5 mths having brunch.(if that's what its still called) I go every sat morning almost without fail and every time it's 5 stars. <br/>Staff are great, food is always great, coffee is spot on every time.<br/>As busy as it gets they always have your food and coffee on the table in quick time even when there is a queue out the door which is common.<br/>I real don't mind the wait which isn't long knowing I'm always happy to pay for what I get.<br/>Shawn
Lisa Borrie
We had a regular cafe that we went to every weekend for breakfast or brunch in Remuera. Sadly it went downhill but it was to our benefit as now our regular brekky is here at Circus Circus. The food is always A1 the staff is pleasant and accommodating, the premise is always clean and tidy.<br/>Each week I am happy to pay for my meal which I cant say elsewhere on a regular basis.<br/>The cafe is always buzzing with people and after hearing the bad rap on TV I really don't know what they are on about....maybe everyone is just on holiday! Boo to all the humbugs out there this place is great. <br/>Lisa

I always feel very pleasant there by the casual and cosy environment, very good food, but specially by the services. The "hands on deck" manager is just spotless and always impressed my husband and I, such as my friends. <br/>Kent is such a great hospitality professional! He has got everything all together. I wish that in everywhere I could find one Kent, with genuine smile and passion for hosp, client focus and intelligent.<br/>Well done!<br/><br/>Regarding the food, we went for a dinner today and we faced a brand new menu. Excitement was the feeling! I tried the lamb with couscous. It was pretty good! The combination of couscous and coconut was unique and the scotch fillet lamb, a perfect medium (Kent's recommendation).<br/><br/>For dessert, I had a tiramisu... Extraordinary! Light and perfect.
Paul Viskovich
Your food is decidedly sub par and depending on which day you turn up for coffee the quality can be a bit of a Russian Roulette.<br/><br/>I for one will never ever visit this café again.
Josephine Roberts
We dined there with our two young children. The fishcakes and salad from the childrens menu were really good. <br/><br/>The staff were very friendly and attentive.<br/><br/>The bread and dips were very generous and delicious. The sundried tomato and caper dip was good enough to eat with a spoon!<br/><br/>The steamed vegetables which came with my meal were a bit of a disappointment as I think that they should have had some sort of dressing. The herb crust on the lamb was a bit bland, but the lamb was cooked well. <br/><br/>The chocolate mousse for dessert was divine. The raspberry cheesecake was delicious and I wouldn't mind knowing what they used for the base as it was best cheesecake base that I have tasted.
Charlie
Went there for brunch with my family this weekend. There was initial confusion over the reservation which the waiter handled with a terrible attitude. Once settled in we were informed there was no lunch menu on weekends, a pain as we had looked on line and decided our choices already, and there was no indication of that on their website. <br/>The overall meal was OK, the waiters mood lifted and he turned out to be lovely, food arrived in good time for the large group and everyone seemed happy with it (although my hash cakes could have used some seasoning).<br/>The attitude by the staff at the end when we asked to pay separately, however, was disgraceful. One women actually rolled her eyes at us. <br/>The food overall was good but the experience was ruined by the waiting staff who made us feel like we weren't welcome in their establishment and were inconveniencing them greatly. Won't be going back.
Andrea
Went for lunch last week with my mum and I just do not see what the fuss is about. Parking was okay, but was a queue at the counter, food in the cabinet looked nice but ordered off the lunch menu which was displayed. Was expecting great things but although the food came out quite quickly, it was not up to standard. The seared beef salad should not have left the kitchen - it was a reasonably nice piece of steak but served on a bed of yellowing iceberg lettuce that was obviously leftover from the day before and not much else. The steak hadn't been rested which meant the blood had gone all through the already terrible looking salad underneath. At $17.90 it just was not worth. The potato and herb hash cake was nice enough but covered in too much baby cress and at about the same price just wasn't worth it either. We had planned to order coffee and cake afterwards but instead decided to leave and went to another cafe around the corner. Won't be going back.

Good place, nice serving staff, recommended. Have tried most dishes on the Menu and is of a very high standard.

My friend and I both had the duck that was recommended by a young waitress, GOOD CHOICE!
Sara Bodel
I go to Circus Circus quite frequently for coffee, and their yummy cabinet treats (I wouldn't say no to a muffin, or delicious tart!). I have had the pleasure of having breakfast there, I have tried the pan fried field mushrooms and love the addition of black pudding (I'm from Scottish heritage)! It's always cooked to perfection, and damn tasty! I have also had dinner there on a few occasions, one of my favourites is the Moroccan Lamb burger, the balance of spices is just right, it's a delicious combination of flavours. I would highly recommend it! :) The service is always fantastic at Circus Circus, and the staff are very attentive. Love the decor and the atmosphere. One of my favourite cafes in Auckland!
Peter Gibbons
Stumbled upon this place looking for an early morning coffee fix. <br/><br/>Hot, strong coffee and the girls at the front were smiley and friendly :)<br/><br/>I'd dare to say the carrot cake may well be the best in Auckland!
Charles
First timers at Circus Circus, I went in with a group of friends for a late brunch.<br/><br/>We didn't book, and it looked packed but they were happy to accomodate our group of 8 + 2 kids. <br/><br/>Service was friendly, everyone enjoyed their meals and they had a kids menu available too. We appreciated the kids area out the back with toys that the kids could bring back in buckets to the table and the colouring.<br/><br/>We'll be back!
Edward Pasek
I have been coming around to Circus Circus for a few years now, and I had never bothered writing a review, but the new salmon hash cakes are amazing and really deserve some praise! As always the staff are friendly and attentive and wait times are reasonable which is why we keep coming back.<br/><br/>The coffee was great and my girl friend's carrot cake was generously portioned and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area!
Sara Knight
Thanks Circus Circus for providing us with a great place to meet friends over coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner. I love your new menu, the baked crepes are my favourite, although I am partial to your dessert cabinet when feeling like a treat. Circus Circus has been our local for many years and we are always made welcome by staff and leave feeling cared for. Your customer service is exceptional.
Hayley
I go here often, whether it is just for a quick coffee or a meal. I love sitting outside under the heaters and they have some cosy red blankets to use if it is especially chilly. <br/><br/>The staff are quite friendly though due to its constant business can be quite abrupt. <br/><br/>I really enjoy dinner here, night time service was excellent and the atmosphere is jovial and comfortable.<br/><br/>My only major problem is the bannoffee pie. I am a chef specialising in desserts and this bannoffee pie was pretty terrible. The crust was far to thick and big, there was too many bananas and not enough toffee/caramel. The crust was pretty solid and lacked flavour. I would seriously recommend the chefs changing the recipe.<br/><br/>Apart from that the food is excellent, the coffee is hot and tastes delicious and the atmosphere is awesome.
Carla Mardell
Staff have attitude, service is slow, the place is packed. It is ambient but that doesn't make the good reviews and how it does so I can't understand. Chai lattes and hot chocolates have twice been weak and warm - rubbish. Bubble and squeak is a nice and not do common brunch edition. The dinner menu is not as broad as others on offer in the area. Definitely not the Circus Circus it was 6 years ago.
David Mckay
I just don't understand how this place wins awards. Against my better judgement I returned here for the third time. Once again service was rather off. Table unclean, place cold and drafty. Coffee warm not hot. <br/><br/>We popped in for dessert and got death by whipped cream. Banoffee pie without any toffee flavour and stale crumble. And it was rather over priced. <br/><br/>All in very disappointed. There are much nicer places near by, I suggest walk on.
Jack
We been here few times during the weekend, it's very crowded. Need to wait in the counter for ages to order the food. It's good for a lazy day people.<br/>I think Circus Circus is a little over-rated; the food is quite expensive too!
Catherine Bannister
I think Circus Circus is a little over-rated; the food is quite expensive (easy enough to charge on the weekend in Mt Eden though as everyone's willing to pay for a brunch!) and a wee bit ordinary. If you're looking for standard stuff (i.e. eggs, bacon, etc) rather than something adventurous and amazing in the culinary sense then this is a good place for you. <br/>The desserts are nice (and generous sizes as well) and I've always found the service here excellent
Amanda Clarke
I went here with a friend for brunch one day as we had only ever heard positive things about it and we have to say we were extremely disappointed.<br/><br/>The food was below average and the wait time for over 30minutes for scrambled eggs.<br/><br/>I wouldn't hurry back here.<br/><br/>I hear they do good cakes for dessert so maybe I will try that next time.
Olivia Winstone
This place is so cool! I really enjoyed my pasta of the day for lunch. Delicious smoked salmon in a creamy tomato sauce with tasty red onions and bow-tie pasta, for about $17.<br/><br/>It was delivered hot and efficiently to my table where the side wall was opened up, so I enjoyed the view to the sunny outdoors, while I sat in the cool interior, where the ceiling is like a bright red circus-top tent - cool.<br/><br/>Funny feature audio playing in the toilets takes the novel Circus theme throughout the whole place.<br/><br/>Dry humourous banter from the waiter was just right for the relaxed feel of the cafe.<br/><br/>My one point of criticism would be that there were no vegetarian bread-based options in the cabinet... not a single panini, roll or bap to be seen, which would've been my first choice today. But lucky the helpful lady pointed out all the veg/fish options for me on the blackboard menu. And the smoked salmon pasta was certainly a very yummy choice.
Lena Kodaira
I drive past this place nearly every day and finally dragged along the sister for some brunch. I ordered the baked crepe which is vegetarian while the sister ordered the pan-fried mushrooms on bruschetta, also vegetarian. The food took a while to come out to us but our window spot and the decor charmed and amused us while we waited. The crepe was fluffy and generously portioned, the sauce and filling were delicious. The sister wasn't too impressed with her choice, saying it was glorified mushrooms on toast with some generic mesclun thrown on. <br/><br/>I'd say the food is a step above your usual café menu and the vibe of this place is attractive, I've even spotted a few Shortie Street stars wandering out of here holding coffees and treats from the cabinet. Good reliable food and a great place to stop off before some shopping in the village or the city.

Thelma: OMG banoffie was devine way too much for 1 sitting. Friendly staff nice atmosphere - yum yum yum<br/><br/>Louise: nomnomnomnomnomnom....<br/>(waitress tries to take away empty plate). gggrrrrr<br/><br/>nomnomnomnomnomnom...
Tom Pine
Had the bubble n squeak - the one poached egg on top was dry and therefore made the whole dish dry - felt like tipping a can of baked beans into the bowl to make it nicer to eat<br/><br/>The salmon bagel - tiny, poorly presented and a huge disappointment to my wife who loves salmon bagels. Over toasted bagel was like a cracker (pre-done ?) and the salmon was on a small side plate and you kind of made your own bagel with some capers and red onion - Please just make a nice yummy bagel ready to eat with substantial filling to fill ones tummy for lunch. What was served was just not funny.
Geoff
Been there many times and always enjoyed our "lazy late" weekend lunches there. I like their cabinet food and the service is usually great.<br/><br/>Those of you reading this possibly sense a "but" coming and you are correct...<br/><br/>Our last trip had me thinking...we ordered from the cabinet as usual (lasagne and quiche) for my wife and I. I do wear glasses but we both noticed that the portion sizes were smaller than before (half?). The salad had also suffered a lilliputian transformation...<br/><br/>Plenty of servings in the cabinet, so........? The prices were the same however. As they say: "You do the math(s)"...<br/><br/>I will go back but take my ruler with me next time!
Chris Beale
Table for two at this cafe. First timers.<br/><br/>Overall, pretty good. Our brunch was well cooked and presented. Coffee very good. Staff generally very attentive and OK to deal with.<br/><br/>The cafe is pretty well decked out and is not boring. Good cabinet food.<br/><br/>Would go again.
Barbara Goldie
Not that many places where you can feel comfortable going in for dinner with 2 boisterous kids under 5 years old, but we've done it 2 or 3 times at Circus Circus and felt welcomed. The adults meals were excellent, the kids chicken nuggets and chips were okay, but the kids still talk about Circus Circus and had a great time there because they got to play with toys and books from the playroom area and they love the decor/lights and the lions outside. I'm sure we'll be back.
Stacee H
Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! We head here every time we are in Auckland. Great atmosphere, service, the menu is broad and good value, the food is always consistently good. And possibly the best desserts in Auckland!!
Kimberley Humphries
Have been to Circus Circus a few times now for brunch and it has been excellent each time. We came in yesterday morning- the place was pumping but despite it being so busy, the staff were friendly and helpful. Our meals came out in reasonable time considering how busy it was. My eggs bene was delicious and my partner had the mushroom dish which he raved about. This place is great, lovely atmosphere with fantastic food and service. Can't wait to come back again!
Sara Salman
This has been a local fave for years. The coffee is good (although don't think its fair trade) and the cabinet food is good too, the menu changes but unfortunately not always for the best. I've had few things from the menu recently and thyve been very disappointing. I'm going to give it 4 stars out of years and years of good food and hope they get their act together soon.<br/><br/><br/>----- 20 Feb, 2012 -----<br/><br/>The old local, can't beat the formula that they have: Good food + Good coffee + good service and a cute cafe, cant beat it. Menu changes slightly often so keeps us coming back. Also parking is not bad in Mt. Eden which is a luxury in Aucks.

Dined at Circus Circus last night with my husband and two daughters, had previously heard mixed reviews about the food but wanted to give it a go anyway.<br/>For our entree we order garlic bread for the kids and beef skewers for the adults, lets put it nicely, there was more garlic than bread (we were scrapping of garlic pieces, too much garlic even for the adults) and the beef skewers were very mediocre.<br/>For the mains we orders the special which was the pasta, that was ok, nothing really that amazing to rave about, also ordered the chicken which was meant to be served with a risotto (which the waitress didn't tell me otherwise) as my 7month old would eat the risotto as her meal, instead it came on these grains with 5 mushrooms slices mixed through. For our 4yr old meal she initially order the chicken nuggets but were told the don't serve fries on the premises all kids meals are served with salad, so we ordered Miss 4 a pizza thinking that would fill the gap from the non existent fries, but what was served was a small pizza that you would buy from the 'leaning tower' range of toppers, with added cheese and bacon.<br/>For desert we order the creme brulee which was in the front display cabinet and which we were seated in front of yet it still took 20min to take out of the cabinet and serve to us. The brulee was dull and tasteless along with the piece of biscotti which tasted like cardboard.<br/><br/>When we went to leave we were asked how our meal was we replied with an ''mmmm'' to which we got an ''ok great, well that's ....."<br/><br/>Safe to say we will not be dinning here again and I would suggest to friends not to dine there either
Juku
Pro: atmosphere<br/><br/>I love the theme of the cafe and the lovely details such as the circus playback in the bathroom. I have tried coffee there which was nice and also a sandwich which was also yummy. Needs to switch to more plantbased, sustainable options.<br/><br/>Great to see the long opening hours!!
David Boshier
I drive past this place most days but have never been in as it always looks busy.<br/><br/>The omelet, the service and the coffee were all worth the stop. Parking outback.<br/><br/>If it looks busy it is worth the wait.
Henry Chan
Went there with my mother and ordered a flat white and a pot of tea. The flat white had way too much foam for a flat white and was weak and tasted like watered down milk. My mum enjoyed her tea though the cup was not too clean. She ordered a muffin which we thought was decent. Place was packed as per usual and the drinks and muffin took at 5-10 minutes to arrive. Overall just a meh experience
Chia80
Asked for a soy chai got cows milk yay awesome!!! Had baked beans great to see it come straight out of a can right in front of me and nicely splattered on the plate, the place was busy and the counter staff seemed confused. Overall don't believe the hype.
Nicky
Circus has the best cakes and desserts! I will always go there for my sweet fix.<br/><br/>I Love their big slices of cakes - the carrot cake with lashings of cream cheese icing and the cheese cake is delicious! Also their caramel and macadamia slice is yum!
Hannah
I would say over a few visits now.. the place is a fun once in a while, but over priced in my mind. Supposed it is in MT Eden but still have trouble paying so much. Have had dinner which was quite good, and had a piece of the carrot cake with cream cheese icing. That my friends is actually very yum but overall not sure if its worth the hassle if its busy etc. I mean the decor is cool and unique but still unsure of why its so incredibly popular. Good hours? Consistent?
Lucia Florence
Lovely warm atmosphere last night, had great coffee, friendly service, the cafe was warm and filled with chatter, and the chocolate mousse was divine. A cafe you can always depend on to be consistently comforting.
Pauline Bennett
I have always had a good experience at this place- great wait staff , and the kitchen elves who work in the tiniest space consistently produce great dishes, always piping hot and well cooked. I love the buzzing atmosphere here too.
Diana R
We went to Circus Circus for breakfast as we had passed many times and it always looked busy which is usually a good sign. There was a queue but the counter staff seemed efficient and we didn't wait long. We didn't wait too long for our food either. Great food, just a pity the coffee wasn't better.

Friend recommended this place so I went there with friends twice for lunch and it was fantastic. Last week, we went there for dinner for my friend leaving party and we were disappointed. The service was slow and the next table to us had to leave. When the food arrived, it doesn't look appetizing at all. I ordered roast pork belly. Wish they put a little bit green as a decoration to make it more inviting to eat.<br/><br/>Not going back for dinner but would still love to have lunch there again. Love the coffee though..

In a nutshell? A general all rounder. Four of us arrived yesterday morning for breakfast (around 9am), the place was packed which is always a good sign. Found a seat in the glorious Auckland sun and ordered. Two eggs bene, one scrambled eggs and one poached eggs with baked beans with hot drinks. The food arrived quickly as did our drinks. The meals were perfect! Fresh eggs and lovely crispy bacon. Well done Circus, brill kai. The only downside for us? Two pots of tea ordered, two tea bags received. I just think in this time and age, when NZer's have such a fondness for the local cafe for breakfast and good coffee, why oh why would we serve teabags? That's the only let down for us with Circus. Have been there before when in Auckland and will try to get to get there again (when in Auckland again).

Ive been to this place twice - and it never fails to impress me with the fact that so many yummy meals are actually produced from that wee kitchen that they have....! <br/>Love the meals, the dessert selection is mind blowing (the summer pav, banoffie pie, choc mousse -- all heavenly!) and the coffee is rich and strong. Love it.<br/>Only gripe is that I hope some of the Asian male servers could smile a bit more. They seemed a bit rough and abrupt in serving us.

I enjoyed a lovely dinner here the other night. The place was quite busy when I entered, so that must be a good sign. The food was certainly very nice - I didn't really like the dips that came with the breads for the entree, but the pasta of the day, which I chose as my main, was absolutely delicious and filling. The orange cake I had for dessert was also quite nice. The service we received the entire evening was great, and the waiters were all very friendly. Overall I had a good experience here and I would happily recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing! Been to Mount Eden many times and this place has always been packed out, this tim we decided to try it and are so glad we did!<br/>Staff super friendly and helpful!<br/><br/>Food was perfect, not one complaint from our table and dessert was just divine!!!!<br/><br/>We will definitely be back.

After hearing so many positive comments on this cafe, I thought I simply must visit to see what all the fuss is about. Boy, I'm so glad I did. Came at a very busy time of day, nearly all the tables were full. The food came out promptly and looked magnificent. The staff really knew what they were doing and were definitely there to please us. Bacon bagel tower was delightful as too was my carrot cake. I will be back to enjoy this cafe again and again.

Always a delight. Always delicious and the service is as good as it gets. My friend got the bubble and squeak and would not stop raving, I got the omelet and the two got the bagel tower. Berry Frappe was always delicious and can never leave without getting a slice of cake.

Limited menu and what we did order was shocking. Corn fritters had little by way of corn and tasted of dough. Salad was dripping in dressing and had little berry seeds in every mouthful that got stuck in your teeth. Not impressed. Not the first bad experience I've had here but gave it benefit of doubt. Will not eat here again.

Always consistently brilliant Coffee and Service. This place has been our local for years and never fails to deliver.<br/><br/>Food is consistantly of high standards and the menu changes every few months which is great offering variety and diversity to us locals. They do maintain the popular dishes for the old die hards who are not too keen on change (like myself).<br/><br/>Well worth heading in here no matter how busy as service is always very quick and staff friendly.<br/><br/>

Heard good things about this place and it always seems to be really busy.<br/>However we were quite disappointed with the food.<br/>Both ordered the sweetcorn fritters, the place was busy but the food came out in about 5 minutes. The fritters were rubbery and bland, there was no color on them and they had obviously just been 'pumped out'.<br/>Coffee was pretty average, the best thing about this place is the setting.<br/>If I go there again I think I'll order something simpler of the breakfast menu.

Went there for dinner, loved it!Ordered the soup it was great. It was in a bread holder, yum yum!!Main is OK compared to desert, we ordered the strawberry or blueberry cake, it was awesome! Would definitely go back to pay a visit. The place is very long and you would be surprised how big it is inside. The entrance is a bit too small though, not big enough as we walked pass the entrance a few times thought the entrance were on the side road rather than on Mt Eden Road.

Went for breakfast with a friend. <br/><br/>The place wasnt that busy. <br/><br/>We ordered out meal and coffee. The breakfast came first, and we had finished eating, by the time our coffee arrived.... <br/><br/>The food was only OK, Ive had better. The coffee was the same.<br/><br/>I'd heard good feedback from this place, but every time I go its so disappointing.

Wow, what an incredibly busy, efficient and exciting place to eat. I have spent many hours visiting cafes around the world but this one stands out something something special. <br/><br/>Staff were fantastic, happy, friendly, efficient and above all professional.<br/><br/>Food was excellent and I could not fault any of the meals our group of 15 ordered. Everyone in our group had positive comments about their meals. Great balance and variety. Top awards to the Head Chef for an awsome menue to cater for all.<br/><br/>Coffees were great. Not to mention very quick to arrive at our table.<br/><br/>This place hums, great atmosphere and good sounds (not too loud either). It is a very impressive fine tuned team who produce fantastic meals and coffees. <br/><br/>Its a fantastic place to meet friends we have been back 4 times in the past few weeks. We will be making regular trips.<br/><br/>The best service I have experienced in a long time. I can thoroughly recommend you visit this place.

I went to Circus Circus Cafe with my family for the first time today. The place is always really busy but luckily the cafe is actually a lot larger than you could see at the counter.<br/><br/>During the weekend they only provide the brunch menu which really limited our options but nonethesless we found something that we wanted to try.<br/><br/>I had a waffle with roasted peaches, berry couli, orange mascarpone and maple syrup. It was really good. I like the combination and especially the touch of orange mascarpone.<br/><br/>The other two mains, gourmet chicken burger and fritters were a bit disappointing. The portions were small and the food bland. I reckon they charged too much for their brunch.<br/><br/>To me this place is average. I can't understand why it is always so full. It does have some good points however: the nice and energetic waiter, food arrived quickly and easy parking.

Nice for a " one off' but not memorable enough to return. Staff seemed efficient but had a first hand view of the timy kitchen and some very interesting goings on. Not special enough food but we enjoyed our evening.
Sarah
Meh everyone seems to love this place but the food is extremely mediocre, expect to wait a LONG time for dinner. Nice decor, but not a lot else going for it. <br/><br/>EDIT: I have returned to Circus Circus and they are still as busy and crowded as ever, but the staff are much more able to cope with the crowds and food arrives in a reasonable time. The food in the cabinet is not great, but brunch and lunch foods from the menu are quite nice.

Average pretty much sums up my experience. I went again on recommendation from many friends. My first experience went poorly, late food, forgotten coffee the whole package - but i have a feeling it was a new waitress. A bit of an improvement, but they really need to learn to smile. Coffee was average, not fantastic. Atmosphere was good, still not a fan of the linear seating arrangement they have to one side of the cafe. <br/><br/>Go if you're desperate for somewhere to chit chat - otherwise, especially evenings, late afternoon s- avoid. it gets haywirely busy. Also give it a miss if you're like me and treasure service, good coffee.

Had a fabulous dinner at Circus Circus on a busy Saturday night. We arrived late (about 9pm) and were allowed our pick of the free tables.<br/>We had the eye fillet and the baked stuffed chicken breast on mushroom risotto. The mains were delicious.<br/>Unfortunately the desserts weren't quite so impressive, but still ok. The cheesecake was gelatinous in its texture and appearance (mass produced looking), and the crumble topping was lacking in flavour.<br/>The service we received from a pleasant young waiter was attentive and unimposing, with just the right amount of friendly. Really very good indeed.<br/>Thanks for a lovely night out Circus Circus.
Mary
went here to meet friends before heading on much nicer than 12 months ago coffee OK but could be better
David
Looks clean and presentable. Won’t complain about the food but could be improved - Its got the McDonald feeling to the place. I only stop there for coffee and chat with a friend that works around the corner.

Went to Circus Circus on the 19/07/09 for my birthday dinner.<br/><br/>Dinner was great! I had the Lamb Shanks while my partner opted for the Steak. <br/>Service was great too - they even turned on the gas heater in the little room we were sitting in. Waiter attended us frequently to check up on how we were doing - This was awesome as he wasn't overdoing it.<br/><br/>They didn't show us our table as we made reservations, however we went for dinner rather late so there wasn't that many people around. They told us to just pick a place to sit which was fine.<br/><br/>Definitely going back to Circus Circus!!

Another Auckland icon that seems to have gotten old and tired. Place always has 20 staff. He'd be better off with 5 that could do their job properly. Sweet food has become bad in the last year. Used to be passable but not now. And don't even get me started on the whole take a number thing!!<br/><br/>Time, once again, for new owners.

This place is like the tardis! There's more room inside than it looks from the street. Great food, service and friendly staff all make for a pleasurable dining experience brunch, lunch or dinner (I've tried each menu - and no, not all in one day!). You just need to bring the company and this place has it all.

Circus Circus is one of my fave cafes in Mt Eden! They have delicious food and friendly service.<br/><br/>I had breakfast there most recently but I’ve tried their dinner menu before. They have a good variety of dishes and lots of yummy desserts!<br/><br/>I tried the hash browns with bacon, spinach and poached eggs. I liked this better than Orvieto’s hash browns. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, it had a gooey centre and wasn’t over cooked. The hash browns were just the right size, crunchy on the outside but still moist. The bacon was nice and crispy and the hollandaise sauce was really yummy.<br/><br/>I definitely recommend this place for a nice meal! They have plenty of tables to accommodate big groups as well for those “off-site meetings.”

There's a reason why Circus Circus is one of Auckland's top cafes. It's funky carnival themed interior, extended separate group dining rooms and hands down, BEST dessert menu/cabinet foods makes it a must do if you are around the area. Located in the heart of Mount Eden village, Circus Circus produces consistently aromatic coffee (especially if you're a soy lover like me) beautiful and generously portion sized meals, something for anytime of the day. <br/><br/>With their extensive opening hours (till 11pm everyday) and delectable selection of cakes and desserts, it is a local favourite for a late night treat. Over the years, my personal favs are the vanilla bean creme brûlée, Kahlua mousse pot and the classic chocolate cake. As for the meals, it is consistently satisfying and faultless. I think breakfast is the best meal of the day, they do a great eggs Bene (oozing yolk - yum!) and their homemade waffles with grilled banana, crunchy bacon drizzled with maple syrup is always a great way to start the weekend. <br/><br/>The only negative with this place is how busy it can get. For larger groups, I would recommend booking a table in advance. Weekends and after dinner/dessert rushes can at times, leave you stalking for tables and awkwardly standing by the door. Service has improved and it was good to see them trying outside of box methods like using portable eftpos machines and conscientious customer service.

Circus Circus is an oldie but a goodie, we have been coming to here for years and it never disappoints. After a big day yesterday moving into the new house I decided (because I had no food in the kitchen) that we should go out for brekkie, so off to Circus Circus it was. It was busy as usual but with the extra space at the back we found a table for our big group easily. I haven't actually been to Circus Circus for breakkie for a while so I was keen to check out their breakfast menu. As a group we ordered the big breakfast, the gourmet chicken burger (yeah it was a bit early in the day for this, but that's my brother for you!), eggs and bacon and then three of us got the waffles with the fruit option.<br/><br/>The big breakfast looked amazing, complete with homemade hash browns and baked beans, needless to say my brother in law was a happy customer!<br/><br/>My brother and father both enjoyed their burger and bacon and eggs respectively.<br/><br/>For the waffles my sister and I both agreed we loved the combinations of flavours but thought the waffles were a bit thin and therefore crunch rather than fluffy as we would have preferred.<br/>Mum who also had the waffles didn't agree.<br/><br/>The coffee was as usual fantastic, All in all a successful breakfast.<br/><br/>For those of you who haven't been they have a great array of cabinet food savoury and sweet as well as lunch and evening menus. The deco is brightly coloured in line with the circus theme and there are 'lions' which guard the entrances. The funniest thing was once I saw a dog barking at the lions!

Whether I'm going for dinner with my boyfriend, having a business meeting over lunch or catching up for a friend for a coffee, the staff at Circus Circus are always warm and welcoming. The menu really does have something for everyone, from the vegetarian to the meat lover, from the gluten free to the most avid lover of baked goods.<br/><br/>If you're heading in for dinner, I highly recommend the chicken breast stuffed with blue cheese and figs served with roasted potatoes, courgettes and mushroom gravy, followed by the Frangelico mousse pot - absolutely divine! If you're just grabbing a coffee, you won't be disappointed - I've been visiting Circus Circus for more than 12 years and have had a great coffee every time!

I used to feel Circus Circus was average but have been here twice in the last month, both times for brunch, and found it much improved. The place is always bustling and the kitchen seems impossibly small for the restaurant size, but we didn't have to wait long for our Hash Cakes and Moroccan Chicken Panini and both were fresh and delicious. The bacon accompanying the hash cakes was perfectly cooked and tasty There is a good selection of cabinet food both sweet and savoury as well. The coffee is hot! - always a bonus! There's a good choice of cold drinks <br/>There's a spot for everyone as the cafe is on three levels( only the street level is wheelchair friendly) Children well catered for and always love to ride the circus lion on the footpath outside!

Circus Circus is one of my favourite cafes in Auckland. It is always packed full of people but it is possible to find a seat if you have a small group. Their menu is extensive and the food has been spot on every time I've visited. My favourites are the Bubble and Squeak which is topped with a beautifully poached egg and the Gourmet Chicken Burger. I went to Circus Circus for dinner as I had a voucher from the entertainment book. The waitress who served us was very helpful, especially when I was unable to choose between three dishes. We settled on the grilled salmon fillet on creamy pumpkin risotto and the roasted creole chicken. Both were very tasty but we preferred the salmon. The food arrived promptly and was very tasty. the dessert menu was very enticing but unfortunately we were too full. I look forward to going back.
