I travel out of my way to come here sometimes, although haven’t been recently the quality has not changed however quantity has with a slight price increase. In saying that still as good as my last visit. I liked how the food now comes out in reusable containers now.

Best Chinese BBQ in the area, with spice and sweet flavour. Roast pork could be a bit more tender and crisp. I like the service but dislike the plastic packaging even for dine in orders.

This place is what it is, and what you'd expect around the Dominion Road area stepping back into the 70s & 80s Auckland. Great food, good service, friendly service. The soups are awesome, and the noodles are great too. Been a couple of times now when in the area. Definitely try the deep fried chicken wings as a side!. Good parking outside, big carpark. The only con would be it's Dominion Road so traffic around the area is a nightmare as always. Can be a bit busy in during peak times lunchtime etc. Definitely worth stopping in for a good feed. Don't expect too flashy, if you are a bit on the fussy side then sitting in here is not for you. It's a noodle spot and great for you and the mates to fill up before moving on. Does takeaway also. Will be back gotta love those chicken wings!

Great sweet sour chicken and salty fish chicken fried rice. The roast duck is good as well but prefer the duck to be a bit warmer maybe w plum sauce.
Michael Ryan
My favourite spot in the area. Friendly, quick service. Amazing selection of Chinese bbq meats served in a variety of ways at very reasonable prices.

Under rated Cantonese bbq shop nestled in an aged plaza. You'll be sure to miss it if you're not googling or didn't walked by! Highly recommend the wonton soup. Very good value for money and delicious.

This is a good restaurant, Cantonese food or you can say it is a Asian food restaurant. I love the chicken slated fish with tofu & vegetables, perfect match with any of their fried rice.
Diner8Here
A little bbq place located on the perimeter of the main Mt eden car park. So had the won hon soup and not bad n nice and hearty broth too, love the free tea too. Um.. i thought I reviewed this place already? or was it the site next door?

This restaurant is our family’s to go place for dinner! The food is really really good and the prices are pocket friendly! The portion is also fairly large and they serve the foods fast. Overall I highly recommend!

This place has The Best BBQ Pork on Rice Noodles I've ever had - hence why we eat there mostly. Great little place with great food & Fanstic prices too.

So happy to be back in Auckland to eat at one of my favourites! Been going here since it first opened many years ago. I always order the combination casserole, roast pork, s&p squid and Singapore fried vermicelli noodles and tastes amazing every single time! One of the best quick and cheap Chinese places in Auckland city!
Rachel Hui
This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant. Best roast duck in the city! We loved the stir fried rice noodle too, it came out with a nice “wok” flavour which I have missed.

Finishing shopping at countdown and don't know what to eat? Please try this Cantonese restaurant. Never disappointed at the beef fried ricenoodles and beef brisket. Sweet and sour pork was super yum but too sweet for me.
JJ
One of my favorite takeaway places that I regularly come back to. The dishes are fresh, full of flavor and generous in the meat and the portion size. My favorite is the salted fish and chicken casserole, great dish especially in winter.

I ordered a takeaway beef fried rice ($12.50) and BBQ pork ($7) today (19/07/2019), at about 7.15pm. When I got home I found hair in the fried rice.

Extremely disappointed by this.

Been here quite a lot sue to walking distance drom work. Not much decent canto/hk style restaurant these days, usually one shut down and then open with a chinese northern cuisine these days, especially in East Akl. This one located in Mt Eden side of Dominion rd with lots of Chinese restaurants. Only downside for me is its a little too expensive compared to other Chinese alternative. Big serving size tho.
Taste 4/5
Service 3.5/5
Ambiance 3/5
Value (price and portion size) 3.5/5

Their bbq pork and Wat dan hor are my favorites. Both are amazing in quantity and the taste of it, is superb. The bbq pork is so flavorful and crispy and juicy as well. Service is pretty quick too

Came here because my local takeaway was closed and I really felt like Egg Fried Rice. Ordered some fried rice along with some deep fried wontons to take away. Hands down, best wontons I've ever had!! The fried rice was also very good, a little under seasoned but an easy fix.

We've now been twice in the last week.

Is a good place to eat in but was disappointed for not being able to try out the roasts. Had the Shanghai fried noodles and the seafood noodle soup, was okay but lots of msg for the noodle soup. Was very thirsty after that. Might return to try out other foods.

Golden Barbeque is one of my favourite places to eat! I have been coming to Golden Barbeque for maybe 8 years now! Their meals are always good and consistent. My favourite is the fish fillet casserole and their chicken wings, they’re to DIE for. Definitely a great, cheap, and satisfying place for good food! Will forever be one of my favourites!

Came in tonight for dinner with the family. Ordered a curry beef brisket on rice, a tofu pot, Choy sum and some chicken. The curry beef brisket was a bit spicier than the average ones you can get at Chinese restaurants and quite flavourful.

First time trying this and amazed with the portion, it’s really big both duck and noodle, i can’t eat this by myself.. and the price is also affordable and quite cheap but taste so good.. definitely recommended place to go

Love love love this place! Ambience is simple but range of dishes and prices considering the portion and tastiness is really good! Quick service, great Chinese food! I would definitely rate it high and get regular takeaways from here. Prices have gone up $1-$2 since last year and portions have decreased a little but it's still worth the buy. Today I got the sizzling beef and black pepper, combination meat casserole, Shanghai styled noodles with combed meat in thick sauce and a large bowl of rice. This easily fed four hungry people! If you don't want to spend $18 on these kinds of dishes, the lunch menu with meat on rice and noodle soup is just as good costing as little as $10!

Wanted to have my lunch on the way to work. This shop had people coming in as soon as it opened. Looked nice clean.
Ordered a Chicken Brisket and BBQ beef.
Got a Beef brisket and bbq beef. The bbq beef was not served hot.

Ambience: ***
Food Quality: ****
Taste: ****
Quantity: medium ****
Customer service: ****
Price: Moderate
Amt of meat in the food was decent. worth the money and worth a try.
Overall : 3.9 *

GBNH is my fav chinese restaurant in auckland. I've been a regular since 2012. People are friendly and the food is AMAZING. You can't go wrong with the roast pork/duck!! The stir fry dishes are just as good if not better!

Forgot to take a proper photo, so had to nab it from Instagram.
Was craving Chinese BBQ and stumbled upon this place in My Eden. Prices are so cheap, but don't let that fool you, they don't skimp on portions at all. Flavour wise, it's good but pretty standard with other Chinese places. Service was quick and efficient. Not bad for a quick $9.50 lunch.

They have the best duck and bbq pork here. We usually order 1 whole duck and 1kg of the pork for our large family to takeaway and there’s always leftovers for the next day. Their spicy squid is delicious and the portion is generous. Friendly staff and clean venue. This is one of our go to places, so I guess that’s a recommendation right there.
Leon01
5 star rating for the roast duck on rice. Yum ,this restaurant and the one in the city called 东风 something make the best roast duck. I am from Canton where roast duck dishes originally come from lol
The Poor Foodie
Been here many time but never remember to write a review or take a picture
I always buy stir fry for takeaway and the portion is always huge! Although it’s a bit oily, the food tastes good and had a lot of vegetables inside

First time to dine here and we have tried - Roast pork, BBQ pork, roast spare ribs, soya sauce chicken and won ton soup. They are all good. The roast pork was very tasty without being salty. The chicken was moist and tender. The char siew pork was nicely marinated. The wonton was meaty. This would be our new favourite Chinese roast dishes. Will definitely come back again.
Coffee Junkie
Great food and value for money. You can also ask to customize some dishes. Try the fried rice then ask to have the beef brisket on it. All their special dishes are... special! We eat here 1-2 times a week and have never been dissappointed.

Our family are big fans of Golden BBQ! Wonderful rice noodles, juicy succulent soy chicken, tasty BBQ duck and so much more. We are bereft when it closes over the holidays. We recommend this place highly.
Penelope Chua
Love their beef brisket noodle soup. Their portions are a good amount, the beef always tender, and especially yummy with chili oil.i like their char kuew tow (not sure if my spelling is correct) but yummy overall. Their round beans with mince is a must try.

The affordability, variety of food on the menu and the quality, efficient service makes Golden Barbeque Noodle House a must try for lovers of Cantonese food. The restaurant is very clean for a Chinese restaurant and the server was surprisingly friendly too. It doesn't have the best Cantonese food but it is very decent for Dominion Road.
Ajay Murthy
Simple, cheap and quick. One of those classic Chinese takeaway menus that is cooked and served just right. Add this to your Dominion Road list.
Sukumar Goswami
Rustic, old fashion but very tasty food. All food are reasonably priced, wait staff courteous and helpful.
One of the family favourite place, like to visit again

They do really good vegetarian noodles. I was pleasantly surprised when I asked to make Thick Shanghai style noodles vegetarian for me. The dish was of a really good size, had many vegetables such as shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, etc. and tofu in it was really delicious too. Everything was fresh and served straight out of the cooking pan. Definitely recommend this place for noodles.
I_like_pickles
Affordable food, tasty and decent portion sizes. Staff are friendly and service is quick.
Complimentary tea is served on arrival.

They are generous with the sizes of their food and the amount of meat as well.

Their fridge drinks are super cheap as well. A bottle of Bundaberg is only $3! They have a whole variety of drinks and the whole Bundaberg range.
The Splitz
By far the best place for duck bbq pork you name it..
The best place in akl besides custom street
Amazing flavours & its clean..
Duck on rice beef brisket soup bbq pork and stir fry bok choy 10/10
A cheap and cheerful Chinese place. I enjoyed the food every time i go there. Today we went there for lunch i was craving for their stir fried bean sprouts with chicken and salted fish.

We ordered roast chicken on rice for $8.50, which I thought it was super cheap and the portion was huge! A plate of roast pork fried rice and the a plate of fried bean sprouts with chicken and salted fish. They were all delicious! I enjoyed their simple yet delightful dishes for a really reasonable price.

This place has meals that are under $10 with reasonable portion sizes, it's a great place for takeaways. We always get the two combination meat on rice, for $9.50 you can't go wrong.
In the photo = chicken + crispy pork combo.
Vatuvei Leah
They used old oil and quiet a lot of it in my noodle- yikes! I could tell it was old from the smell of it. They keep reusing the same oil God knows for how long- maybe weeks or even months..lol..I could not even eat 1/4 of it! Not going there again.

I tried Golden Bbq with family over the weekend and although I was a bit skeptical at first I was pleasantly surprised. The place isn't anything fancy but the taste of the food makes up for how the place looks. We had a variety or noodle and rice dishes as well as the sweet and sour chicken, egg plant casserole and bbq ribs. Everything tasted really good, I usually avoid sweet and sour as I don't like eating chunks of fat but with the chicken I got to enjoy the taste of sweet and sour and also know I'm getting meat! There wasn't a lot of vege's in the dish so it was lucky we got some on the side. I would recommend this place as somewhere to get a quick meal or buy takeaways to eat at home.

First I came here for a roast duck noodle soup like a few years ago -it was BLOODY AMAZING!!!! 💯 the duck was juicy and tender. The skin was roasted nice and crispy. The soup base was great.

But it all went downhill after they shut for a few months to go overseas and then reopened -unsure whether they changed owners or chefs, but it just was never the same again. The duck was average and skin wasn't even crispy anymore. The flavours just weren't there. It's such a shame. Use to rave about this place so much. Now, not so much 👎🏼

It is one of the best takeaway place in Auckland. Service was great and the dishes were prepared and delivered fast. It is cheap and portions are huge. Overall taste was great. Can't wait to try every dishes
Genie @ BunnyEatsDesign
Such a bargain for yummy Chinese barbecue. We came here last night for takeaways but have been in to eat many times before over the last 10+ years. They were very busy last night, being a public holiday (no surcharge though).

Food comes quickly compared but is relative to how busy they are. Service is no frills and efficient. Decor is typical Hong Kong style utilitarian.

We paid $17.50 for 2 sets of barbecue meat on rice. I really like their soy sauce chicken $8.50 and my husband loves their roast pork $9. Their meats on rice are $10 or less and come with meat, rice and a few bits of bok choy. Their roast duck is excellent. If you are feeling undecided, you can get 2 meats or 3 meats on rice for $9.50 or $10. At these prices this place is also great for a quick lunch.

They also sell whole, half and quarter roast ducks and chickens and there's the option of roast pork, barbecue pork and ribs by the kilo. Great budget semi-takeaway option if you want to cook up some rice and greens at home and then swing by to pick up roast meats.

We've tried a few of their freshly cooked menu items but their barbecue meats is really where they excel. They could improve their ambience, but this is a quick, cheap bite kind of place so it doesn't matter so much. Hard to find a filling meal like this for under $10. A bargain in Mt Eden. Will be back for sure.

Authentic, professionally prepared Cantonese food. Wonderfully consistent quality.
I have just one major gripe: the place closes for several months each year, when the chefs take an extended break in China.
They went away in December and still haven't come back!
I need my weekly fix of Cantonese cuisine! Come back soon!!

BEST sweet and sour pork in Auckland. Hands down. Having lived in Singapore and Malaysia/Chinese family a lot of sweet and sour pork around Auckland is so average and disappointing but their's is perfect. Crispy but not just chewy batter, the sauce is really well balanced. I love their standard dry egg noodles as well - and their Beans with chilli and mince pork dish is to die for. Their seafood Hor Fun is amazing too - and their Roast Pork is a must try. It's juicy and delicious but spares you all the fatty bits. The Hotpot of fish is also Devine (I think it's Harpuka). The staff are really friendly and they have a great selection of teas available too in their fridge. So sad they aren't open for awhile with the new year :(

Absolutely amazing Chinese food. I cannot visit without getting the Chicken fried egg noodle! Even better with the complimentary chilli oil available on request. Try this with the sweet and sour CHICKEN. Delicious! If you dine in, hot green tea is served with your meal. Perfect!

Love asian spots like this one. I stay around the corner and when I'm craving some asian this usually ends up on the list, especially when I'm hungover.

Can't go wrong with the 3 meat combination on rice for 10 bucks! - Duck, Crispy Pork and BBQ Pork - and a $8 wonton soup.

Cheap and superbly tasty! Always hits the spot.

Tucked away off the busy main road, we decided to stop here for a quick dinner. It was reasonably busy (Saturday night) which in my opinion is always a good sign! We ordered three mains between the 3 of us, they were really well portioned and pretty good value for money! All three dishes had a lot of flavour and a decent amount of veggies! Service was good as we didn't have to wait too long for our meals - even though all tables were nearly full plus some takeaway orders. Would recommend for a Chinese food lovers!
Michael Peters
Often thought this would be a good place to try as it's always busy. Tonight I had the 2 meat on rice dish and I wasn't disappointed. Yummy BBQ pork and the best chicken I've had in a very long time both tasty and yet succulent. My friend had the Bammi Goreing and rated that hi too
Dianca Mitchell
Hands down one of my go to places for when I'm lazy and am craving food. Been coming here for years and the quality has been consistent for a very long time. Highly recommend the Wah Tan Hor, Char Keuy Teow, and the duck on rice. Three of my favourite dishes!
Varsha Paul
Probably the best Chinese takeaway IMHO.
Very good value for money. Chicken and mushroom casserole, fried rice, Hapuka casserole and bbq pork is fab. I've ordered when we've had last minute guests and they've raved about it
Jamie
Great food and prices. Nice place to get some takeaways on your lunch break and one of the better Chinese restaurants in the vicinity. Highly recommended.
Jarrod Yap
Never a dull moment here. Been coming here for years and the standard had always been consistently good and we'll priced. Owner always acknowledges me. Will keep coming back!
Chin And Prony Powichitkul
One of the best places for roast duck in auckland. The food is never a problem and also of good price value for money. They do get really busy at peak hours which often result in the waitresses being less attentive. Seatings are abit cramped as they tend to always accept as many customers as they can. Fine by me but not so good if you aren't a big fan of cramped up noisy asian restaurants.
Miss Charlotte Cake
The have one of the best dumpling noodle soups in Auckland! I really like the broth they use... its not super strong and its not bland. They also use bok choy which adds some colour and healthiness to the dish.

Its just a shame that they seem to be closed so much at the moment? I feel like they are often not even open when I drive past looking for some dinner and its a real pain when I'm all hyped up for my dumplings!
Squiddy
I've been getting takeaways here for years and it's amazing how you just take quality for granted - I've never thought of reviewing them! I would have to say they are the best Chinese takeaways in Auckland. There are dishes that are favourites but I'm always happy to try different dishes here because I know I'll never get a dud dish. The dishes are huge. I write this with a tummy full of their char kway teoh (smokey and the kind of dish that you keep taking mouthfuls of even though you are going to explode), wonton soup (I asked for the no-noodle version and the wontons were packed so tightly into the container that next time I'll ask for extra broth), chilli salt squid (deep-fried umami goodness, a bit chewy this time but that doesn't really bother me, I order this every single time). I also got the eggplant casserole (eggplant braised with garlicky, saucy pork mince. If you don't like eggplant you will LOVE this) to have with rice for dinner tomorrow.
Easy to order, loads of parking and a varied but not intimidating menu.
CorpTech
Having once lived in Singapore for 5 years this place brings the great flavours of that region and China at a consistently great quality level to Mount Eden. We have eaten a lot of the different noodle dishes and many of the Cantonese style dishes all of which have been excellent. They have the right mix of vegetables and quality meat ingredients. They are family friendly and do both takeout and eat in options. Parking is easy being located at a shopping area off Dominion Road.
Dom Cruise
My family loves this place prefer to dine in, but pretty hard getting family to come because 7 people don't fit in our average size car lol.
Fly On Thewall
My fav chinese restaurant, I drive all the way from the hibiscus coast to dine there, about 40 times per year, its way cheaper than flying to Hongkong or Singapore !Every dish they have is a favorite of mine and they will customise a dish for you eg...no chile please in dish X etc
Lance-a-lot Rance
I travel all the way from Penrose to this place, i pass approx 8 other take aways to come to this one, this place does the best sweet n sour I've ever had, the service is quick attentive and very fresh i recommend this place to anyone and everyone
Johnny
If you haven't been here it's worth a try, good no fuss Chinese food. Great value, especially the BBQ products. This place is busy and the food comes quick. No alcohol and not BYO but they give you tea!! Seriously good tucker at seriously good prices.
Cheap Eats
We continue to return to Golden time and time againt for their consistently excellent Chinese food, which is as generous as it is delicious. Their chilli pepper salt squid is a thing of beauty, as is their braised hapuka casserole and tofu casserole with chilli and meats. Bring a group for a relaxed dining experience or takeaway; either way you won’t be disappointed. For a full review and dish recommendations go to http://cheapeats.co.nz/golden-bbq-noodle-house/
