Review Fat Kitty Cafe - Mount Eden

Felix
most amazing vegan friendly, LGBT+ owned cafe, the artwork wall is awesome and the fact that it’s up to sell without the cafe taking any of the commission from the artists is lovely! In general lovely vibes and atmosphere and the friendliest staff. I only wish I could go more often! definitely will next time I’m in Auckland :)

Hands down my favourite cafe. SO MANY vegan options I have to keep going back to try the next thing, the menu is bomb and the cabinet food is divine. The owners have thought of everything, great food, delicious coffee with HOMEMADE SYRUPS, and cool monthly events. Beautiful artwork and positive vibes. I honestly love this place and wholeheartedly believe in their vision. Well done fat kitty 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

While I've not had the pleasure of dining in (yet!) I've tried some of their delicious foods and oh my goodness!! Their food is amazing! I've had vegan food before, but this was next level. So happy a place like this exists. It's inclusive, accepting and caters to a wide range of allergies and dietary requirements. Not only this, but the people who own Fat Kitty Cafe and those who work there are so nice and accommodating! Highly recommend!

Beautiful food, had a very hard time choosing what to eat! A good range of veggie and vegan choices and so tasty. Really lovely inclusive atmosphere with friendly staff, and cool art on the walls by local artists!

Gotta love their buns! But in all seriousness… I went for unique vegan and vegetarian options for a romantic little brunch with my partner and it did not disappoint. Ordered a snickers bun and HELLO it was so delicious! The right amount of sweet and pastry. Pad Thai omelette was very unique and a welcome treat. We also got the poached eggs and it was light and flavorful. Lavender latte for me and mocha for my partner were OK, the highlights definitely the food here 👏👏👏 Staff working that day was friendly even though she was by herself at the counter and kicking a$$ alone. Well done! Would happily return.

Wow! We will be back :) My friend and I both loved our food.. My friend said the Dumplings were to die for (honestly we were both a bit scared and hesitant of the menu to start with but very pleased that we trusted Amelia’s advice/recommendations) Vegan options available plus a range of unusual art available for purchase on the walls. A very inclusive friendly and welcoming space. Thanks!

I am a creature of habit and struggle trying new foods and drinks but fat kitty has easily pushed me out of my comfort zone! I would happily try anything from here vegan or not. They cannot do wrong & it’s even better that the atmosphere + owners are the best. No cut corners in anyway and a decent price. I couldn’t recommend them more!

I was lucky enough to have a $30 Fat Kitty voucher to spend, so it was the perfect opportunity for me to finally try the food from this cafe as I live on the shore and normally don't head out down south. I ordered the tofu rendang roti and it was absolutely delicious. I normally don't go for spicy food, but this was super yum. I also picked a couple of cakes that were vegan as well and those were yummy too. The menu has a lot of vegan options with them clearly labeled and the majority of their food in the cabinet is vegan as well. There is also lovely art on the walls made by LGBT+ artists that you can purchase. The staff were also very lovely and welcoming as well.

This cafe is so special! The way they’ve created a flourishing business whilst also creating a community space is beautiful! The cafe feels warm and the ever changing menu makes dining there SO MUCH FUN. It’s clear that this business is an expression of its owners and it feels so personal and loving ❤️

Fat Kitty is the best vibe, it’s definitely my favourite cafe in central Tāmaki. The food here is always amazing and Amelia & Jarrad are such legends. I highly recommend checking it out not just for the great food and warm smiles but also the epic art on the walls. 10/10 🙌🏼 🌈

Highly recommend this creative and inclusive cafe. They are one of the few vegan offerings on Dominion Road and they make vegan food interesting and actually tasty! Vegan pies are great. They aren’t exclusively vegan however and have some delicious meat offerings such as the chicken waffles. Loved their Turkish eggs so much I started recreating them at home! There is also some fantastic artwork by queer artists that decorate the walls and are available for sale.

One of my favourite places. Very LGBT+ beautiful and safe! Very excited to get my own art on the walls sometime. In the mean time I am enjoying the great coffee and the waffles 🤤🤤🤤

Fat Kitty Cafe is my absolute favourite cafe in all of Auckland and it's not just because they opened on my birthday in 2021. They are geniuses when it comes to exciting, surprising, and delightful flavour combinations. The owner-operators, Amelia and Jarad, are such wonderful people. The amount of care they've put into creating a vibrant, community-focused space is apparent from the moment you walk in. Definitely take some time to peruse the wall filled with local artist's work, which is ever changing as the originals and prints hanging find their forever homes with Fat Kitty fans. There are some seriously amazing pieces from emerging and established artists and every cent goes straight to the maker. The wall is testament to the myriad ways that Amelia and Jarad are actively working to create such a wonderful atmosphere in their corner of Dominion Road. My usual go-to is the Dumpling Sandwich - it's ridiculous (in a great way) and ridiculously delicious. Perfect pick-me-up food when you've got a lot on and don't have the brain space think about what it is exactly that you want, you just know you want deliciousness. It's never not hit the spot. I tried the Boom Boom Carrots today for the first time and oh my god I am kicking myself for not having them sooner. They may bump the Dumpling Sandwich out of the running for my Fat Kitty fave. And it's not just me. My Mom couldn't stop raving about them, either! And don't even get me started on the cabinet food. Sorry Tart, but Fat Kitty reigns supreme on variety and flavour of vegan baked treats. I had a slice of pumpkin pie that nearly made me cry because I hadn't had pumpkin pie since before I moved here five years ago and the flavour transported me to the holiday season as a kid in California. If you haven't already you absolutely need to carve out the time to make a trip. I think it's impossible to leave unsatisfied.

My absolute favourite spot for vegan brunch in Auckland! The menu is super creative and everything is insanely yum! The cabinet cakes are delish (most are vegan!) Plus the vibes are just lovely ❤

I had been wanting to try fat kitty cafe for a really long time but living in Australia was holding me back. When I came over to visit, one of the first things on my list was this cafe. And boy I was I not disappointed. The vibe of the whole place was so welcoming, the art wall was fantastic to see and the owners were friendly. The food though… oh my goodness I have never tasted anything like this in my life. It was so so delicious. The has brown was the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. The waffles were the perfect mix of sweetness and flavour. I didn’t take photos of anything else because I was enjoying the food so much. If you do anything, go eat at fat kitty cafe. It was 100% worth the wait.

fantastic drinks and amazing sweet treats for vegans and fellow dietary restricted people (such as myself) with allergy conscious menu’s and options available. Love the art, vibes and welcoming energy/events they uphold!

Absolutely delicious and unique menu! We had the iconic dumpling sandwiches, roasted carrot, grilled eggplant and cauliflower. The flavours and spices really packed a punch and impressed me! I could taste the japanese and korean influence and it was like nothing I ever had before. I had a pink cocktail too. The cafe itself is also very pretty and cute, and is an inclusive space, with work from LGBTQ+ artists on the wall and and pronoun mugs. Positive vibes!

Went there with my in-laws for my birthday because they had a huge selection of GF and DF foods, which was needed for the multiple broken people in our group. Everything we had was delicious. The vegan food you wouldn't even know is vegan! 100% recommend, regardless of whether you have dietary requirements or not. You'll definitely like the food!
