Review Eighty Eight Cafe - Mount Maunganui

How good! Still happy with the amazing breakfast we had at Eighteight Cafe. We had a hot chocolate and ordered from the menu. Pancakes and the chorizo omelette were fantastic, both of them were made at level of excellence. They have lovely cabinet food too (sweet and savory)k

We loved the atmosphere and they had great customer service. We had the vegan filo wrap and a blueberry& custard muffin and both was delicious. They also had an amazing cabinet selection, but unfortunately none of the items had prices on them which was very frustrating. We also hot the iced moch and coffee and both was delicious, not too sweet, but sweet enough. Overall it was a great experience

Superb cafe. Food is extremely well presented and tastes as good as it looks. Very good coffee. Large selection of menu items, as well as cabinet food. There is no table service but ordering at the counter is fast and efficient. I'm sure this would be a strong contender for best cafe at the mount.

Friendly staff, ok food and good coffee. Had a french toast that was ok but could be better if the bananas were also fried. Eggs bennie were good. Nice environment

Everyone loved the brunch and desserts so much that we had to come back again the next morning before leaving Tauranga. Really beautifully presented (and definitely instagram worthy). A really wide range of pantry desserts to choose from but it'll be good to go early as they really are snatched up fast! Drinks are amazing too, especially the hot chocolate and the smoothies.

After a diabolical customer service experience at Sidetrack Cafe near the mount we were recommended this place for breakfast and thank God because this was divine. The staff are wonderful the service perfect. We had a chat with the lovely Ann the baker at the cafe who nearly had us in tears. A serendipitous encounter which brightened up my morning, erased bad experiance and loved meeting people. That's before I bit into the bacon cream cheese with cranberry sauce brioche that is phenomenal. If you imagine taste of heaven this is it. What are you waiting for....GO!

What an amazing array of homemade baked goods! I chose the Hummingbird Cake - which was a HUGE cake and meant that the slices were also huge! Cream cheese icing covered in large coconut shreds garnished a lovely moist cake...which went so well with 2 x long blacks, also delicious! (Please don't tell anyone that this was my breakfast!) 😉

The staff friendly and the snacks were outstanding. The chicken wraps were full of tender moist chicken. The carrot cake was something to dye for. I don't know if they do their own baking but it was very good.

A world class gastronomical experience. Been to Cafe 88 several times when we visit Mount Maunganui. My favourite for breakfast is the Granola. Lolly cake for morning tea. Lunch is the Paleo chicken salad. This cafe is out of this world and the best in New Zealand. We can't wait to be back.

I’m a French toast hunter and found this French toast absolutely amazing!
So appealing to not only the eye but the stomach too 🤗 so refreshing with the fruits and sweet! Just how I like it !

So quick for a Sunday, 5 mins waiting time ! Great service!

Also, tried the banana & date smoothie and wow so delicious and healthy!

Came here with my partner over the holidays after walking the Mount and it was pretty busy but we didn’t have to wait too long on our drinks or food. Can’t say too much about the service as you have to get your own water and place your own order etc. Drinks were great and the Food was too. My big Breakfast lived up to its name with a generous serving and my partners Coconut French Toast was very near perfect. Definitely recommend!

Really busy little cafe which is great to see for business! A large selection of cabinet food and treats. I had the creamy mushrooms which were okay, nice but nothing to write home about. My partner had an omelette which he was well into not being a typical omelette eater. Really nice coffee drunk in the form of an iced Americano and Latte. Food was pretty quick considering the crowd but no time to deliver water to us or wipe the table.

Very busy Cafe but worth the wait. Delicious hot scones, fresh loose leaf tea and good coffee. Almost to much yummy food to choose from! Mafe a friend in the queue.

Read the reviews and thought we would give it a go. The ambience isn't great and getting a table was a bit of a challenge but we preserved and we are glad we did. We had the poached eggs on ciabatta, with grilled tomatoe and bacon followed by a long black with hot milk on the side. The eggs and tomatoe were great, the bacon could have done with some more cooking but the coffee was sublime. They would have got a 5 but score pulled down by the bacon, the ambience and the fact that they wrapped the cutlery in a damp paper napkin which is downright weird.

Food was amazing, treats and cakes looked to die for. Even though they were very busy, food came very fast. We ordered the eggs Benedict with and the veg beagle stack ! Iced coffee was a must. We will be back for cake and coffee. Need a cafe like this in Auckland !

Chia pudding, almond milk latte and fantastic gluten free ready-made choices - all a win in my book! Would definitely recommend this cafe, the choices were like none I have seen in a while.

Came to 88 cafe at 7am for breakfast and coffee, coffee was really nice, a few of us had eggs benedict which was OK however salmon portion was too small, scrambled eggs were awesome as well as the muffins. Catered well to our group of 9 lots of room and nice atmosphere, we all really enjoyed it!

Great food, very homey. The blackberry mango smoothie was delicious. We enjoyed the garden area at the back, highly recommended to anyone who likes a relax break.

Best place at the Mount for a wholesome breakfast. Gets really busy so get there early and expect a bit of a wait for coffee but it's definately worth it if you like clean whole food.

Brilliant. Busy cafe and we walked in and my god.. The food on the counter and the cabinet looked Amazing! So much choice and home made in appearance.

We ordered breakfast off the menu and the service was prompt ( we half expected a bit of a wait) and it was divine. Hot, delicious and attention to detail .

A must do in the Mount.

A treated me to a lovely brunch for helping him move houses. I'm a happy girl. On the main stretch of Mt Maunganui, Cafe Eighty Eight is always crowded with people. We considered the place next door but they only do coffee and we were starving. We even bumped into mates A knew from out of town. No surprise in finding Tauranga a small place? Definitely not, when I have literally walked into people from Down Under while in Europe.

This cafe was definitely the place to be on a Sunday morning! The wide array of ready-to-eat baked goods and treats available make you know you've chosen a goodie. The vibe of the cafe was bustling with a cute courtyard out the back to sit in. I got the almond porridge with rhubarb, banana, and cranberries with a cup of rooibas tea to takeaway. Will definitely return when visiting the Mount.
