Review Mamma Mia Italian Restaurant - Mount Maunganui

Absolutely wonderful and friendly service by staff there. Place was fully booked for dinner. The Tricolore Gnocchi was perfectly cooked. First time I drank Italian Menabrea Bionda (Lager) and loved it! Tiramisu was also good.

Came here for a birthday dinner. Really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere with the tables packed quite close together. We could imagine ourselves in a small Italian town in a restaurant that's been operating forever. The food was good. Half had pasta and half had steak. We ordered a Surf & Turf (with peppercorn sauce, not blue cheese) and fiorentina. Both really nice. Only two prawns on the S&T, would be good to have two more. Also had the Angel pasta and Ragu. The angel was really nice. Interestingly, the ragu came with spaghetti pasta. To be honest, we didn't actually read the menu properly to register that. We were expecting pappardelle or tagliatelle to come with it. This let the dish down in my opinion. It didn't feel like ragu, it just felt like spaghetti bolognese. We had a bottle of chianti to go with it, which was very nice. We also had dessert: tiramisu, crème brulee & fondente al choccolato. The service was good and our overall impression was good. We will be back at some stage.

Hands down the BEST meal we have had in a long time! Our first visit to Mamma Mia and we will definitely be back again. The food was consistently amazing, best pasta I’ve had. Desert was great and staff are very friendly and helpful. Did not disappoint and would recommend this place over and over! Thanks for a beautiful meal and a beautiful experience x

Popped in here Friday night after we arrived from Auckland. We were lucky enough to be squeezed in as all tables were reserved. The food was outstanding. Probably the best meal I have ever had at a restaurant, the service we received was out of this world. we were immediately made to feel welcome. We decided to come back Saturday night for dessert, wine and lemocello as we couldn't fit it in after dinner on Friday. I'm already planning my next trip back so I can make my way through their amazing menu . Cant recommend this place enough

Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant, great food and wine options. Generous portions, the best and largest eye fillet I have ever eaten. If you are looking for a true Italian restaurant with all the options then you need to try Mamma Mia.

As locals we are spoilt for choice at the Mt. Momma Mia is a great Italian restaurant, best steaks at the Mt, super friendly service. Regulars, Recommend! Suggest you book ahead especially in busy times.

If you want real Italian food in Tauranga then THIS is the right address! Forget all the other wannabe Italian restaurants, the pasta here is absolutely awesome 😎👍 The place is authentic, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere reminds me of my time in Milano 💕 We'll definitely come back here

Awesome experience. I think I had the best steak of my life last Saturday night, and everyone else in our party was very satisfied too. Friendly staff, diverse menu of tasty choices, perfectly cooked and presented. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow fantastic, really want to take the Chef home to do my cooking, you must go there. The customer service is wonderful, made you feel so welcome and it was that good I went back the next night.

We came to this restaurant at least 8 years ago and had a very nice meal. We came back down for a visit and thought that we would try again. I have to say that the meal exceeded our expectations. My eye fillet was absolutely delicious and cooked just perfectly medium rare. My wife had a cabonara. We finished off with a creme brulee and a chocolate mud cake. The creme brulee was the best I have ever had, and best of all I had a pint of my favorite beer. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Well what an experience! Got taken out by my Wife for a late Birthday dinner, I was keen for one of the usual Restaurants we visit but she had a desire for Pasta an Pizza. Looking in the door they had good numbers an the vibe felt really good - this is key to a good outing for us. There was a few free tables an we were seated straight away with a very warm welcome! 15/10 for the table service, we were well looked after an nothing felt rushed or pushed on us which is really nice! Nice Cold water to the table, an an excellent Pinot an cold Tap beer Estrella to the table while we browsed the great looking menu. There was nothing on the menu that was not available a first for me in a while down the mount. I had the Bocconcini Al Marsala which was full of flavour an a good helping with perfectly cooked Veges! My wife had the Prawn & Scallop Pasta Which I was lucky enough to try, this was very tasty with great sized prawns an scallops again all very fresh looking, smelling an tasting. Our desserts were also great an finished the night off perfectly. Cute, cozy, delicious! 10/10 we are coming again - Highly recommend !!! Also I saw as I was paying the bill “Pizza an beer for $20 4-6pm”

Amazing food with great atmosphere! Staff were really friendly and food was excellent! Best steak in Tauranga, it's even better than famous steak restaurants here. I already made another booking for my husband's birthday dinner in 3 weeks!

The local clerk recommended this restaurant to us and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is great, the food is great and not too expensive. We will definitely go back there next time we visit Mount Maunganui.
