Review The Rising Tide - Mount Maunganui

Such a lovely Sunday afternoon at The Rising Tide. Booked a table ahead of time so we could sit out on the covered deck. Loved that we could taste 6 beers on a paddle for $13, or $6 for a half pint. I had an $11 espresso martini, a Sunday special, wasn't as strong or as big as paying full price at city bars. The plum cider from Good George was so good. The meal range was very small and the burgers didn't come with fries (despite the $17 price) they were small and tasty, but add fries guys! Hardly a U options for the gluten free folk unfortunately. The atmosphere was very noisy so not highly conducive to actually chatting with your friends over lunch. Having the paddock out front for the kids was great. A mixed bag. Would go again for the drinks only

Love the atmosphere. The dumpling is yummy, but the skin is a little thick. Many beer choices too. Overall I will definitely come here again especially on a Friday night.

Came here while visiting Mt Maunganui and wanting to try a local breweries. This is the best place to get a quick bite and Drink. Service was Awesome with Amazing Team, Live musics and yummy food. Had dumpling - quite unusual to find a dumpling in a Breweries, and it turns out to be the best choice. Some of you might disagree with taste of the dumpling (especially if you are too used to the Chinese dumpling), but do note this is a Fusion Cuisine - not a chinese restaurant. Try to see it from a different angle and embrace the Kiwi Ingenuity. Lots of choices for the Beer too! 18 choices in total. Fresh off the breweries at the back.

Dumplings were good. Enjoyed the chilli dipping sauce. Curly fries were just warm when they came to the table.

We all know the Rising Tide is amazing - the food, the vibe - but this time we were extremely impressed with our waitress as well! Big shout out to Molly, who made our time there even better! Great customer service! Cheers Molly for looking after us!

Come for the beers, the selection won't disappoint. Food was okay...would not get the burgers again but other selections were good. They do have some vegetarian options. Service was excellent considering how busy they are. Would recommend.

Great atmosphere to be. Great food. Definitely try triple shroom dumplings, cauliflower wings and calamari wings.

Great little locally owned, 2nd generation brewery with an awesome beverage selection of nearly 40 different tap options to choose from including beers, ciders and RTDs. Food is served from Johnny’s dumpling house which was also delicious. They offer a wide variety of dumpling options with the option to choose its cooking style (pan fried, deep fried or steamed). They also offer burgers, tacos and various bar snacks to share such as salt n pepper calamari, cheese and gravy curly fries and jalapeño poppers. Would highly recommend.

I had dinner with my friend here 2 weeks ago, after recommendation from her son. We had great service from staff who seemed to really like their jobs. It's our new 'favourite place'. I'm from another town but we'll definitely be back next time I'm visiting. Recommend beef & ginger dumplings, beetroot and feta salad and alcoholic ginger beer. Thanks folks.

Visiting Rising Tide is always a treat when in Tauranga. Parking can be a bit of a mare but its definitely worth finding one. Absolutely delicious foods, vegan and vegetarian options alongside the usual meaty choices. Highly recommend the dumplings, they are always amazing and generously sided. The Jalapeno poppers were also banging. Plenty of drinks to choose from, lots of ciders, beers and alternates. Highly recommend the rhubarb cider. Always super busy so recommend a table booking if you can plan ahead.

At least 35 craft beer taps with no need for nervousness in asking to try a few samples before deciding. As for the dumplings, before visiting we thought it sounded like a weird gimmick but they were pretty good and full sized and made more sense once we saw the dumpling 'shack' inside. Cheeseburger was also good. Loved being able to sit outside at night under the heat lamps as it had a nice atmosphere with the strings of lights.

We joined visiting friends for a meal and to try out their range of ciders and drinks on tap. Fabulous. Kiddy friendly, great atmosphere. A great outing. BTW, easy access for wheelchairs. Parking a little harder, as it is roadside parking. Great open area for the children to play ball, etc. whilst enjoying the Fabulous range of aisain inspired meals. Best dumplings I have eaten in a long time... And all prepared from scratch.

Very good burger deal for 14$ each wednesday. You can chose between vegan or beef burger, with fries. Many kind of beer/cider in this deal. The workers are really nice and friendly, they do their best for us to have a good moment here. Good music and heat lamp

What a gem! We visited for dinner - the staff were all so friendly, from the door to the bar - smiles all round, great service and able to provide answers for any questions we had. The food was great - reasonable pricing for the serves and quality. The drinks range was sensational. The atmosphere was great - busy but the music wasn't too over bearing and the lighting & temperature were perfect. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone looking for a new local!

Stopped by for lunch. Well priced $39 for a burger, 4 dumplings and coke. On point service and delicious food. Surely recommend 😀.

Always great value, Dumplings and much more. Plenty of craft beer in tap to enjoy if you like that sort of thing… Try the Sea Beast IPA!!!

Was so excited to try Johnny dumpling as I saw them at the Roturua night market. However we felt the quality dropped overtime, their “sui Mai” were more like meatballs and the prawn dumplings wrapping were sooo thick it was very difficult to eat, their pork bun was also disappointing. The burgers and fries were okay and price was reasonable. The most disappointing thing was their ordering system...very confusing!! They had table numbers on the table PLUS you get given a table number when you order too.. if you aren’t a local you wouldn’t know which number to get, we had issues with ours and our order took 1hr to arrive, we spent more time waiting for our order than actually eating. It would have been good if the staff were more pro active and attentive. Probably won’t be back.

Overall enjoyed our visit here. Really awkward way of ordering food and finding a table, nobody came and greeted us or even told us how it worked. Would be better to have waitstaff get a table for us and come to order food, or at least have signs to explain what to do! Service was great after I had gone up to order though, which made the visit more enjoyable. Food wise, both types of vegetarian dumplings were disappointing, quite dry filling and taste wasn't what I was expecting. The rest of the food was pretty good, would reccomend the Mediterranean salad, Falafel bites, pork bun and pork dumplings! The cocktails are also delicious!

Mixed feelings about this place. Love that you can chill in the sunshine an have a beer, but have been very disappointed by the service.  Like 1 in 4 they get the food order right.  And if they are busy they seem slightly overwhelmed.  However, great venue, lovely atmosphere.

The dumpling was disappointing. Dumpling skin was too thick. The filling wasn’t bad, but nothing special. Fries was not too bad. Beer was great though.

Discovered this place when holidaying in the Mt. It was very good vibe. Great food and drink. The staff are awesome. The salads and dumplings are real good. So are their burgers. Two people about $40 - $60 food with one drink each.
