Review The Fat Cow - Mount Maunganui

We shared the meat platter for 3, noticed the couple next to us had the platter for 2 & there didn't seem to be much, if any difference, except price. That said, food was delicious & filling. There were a lot of wait staff on, but they were lax on asking if patrons wanted a second drink. I noticed some people had to go up to the bar to ask & we had to catch the attention of one of the staff walking around to order.

Definitely excellent all the way around. Had dinner here last night with daughter and son ๐Ÿ˜‹ Son smashed out his playe of smoked grilled Ribs. Daughter ate her plate of Briscut and Veges and enjoyed every minute of it. My Roast Pork with apple sauce and extra was so great. Coastal beach vibes on main street opposite the beach โ›ฑ๏ธ Got to go here if your around these ways. Staff are absolutely friendly and very considerate ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Had a very good meal here. Quick and delicious, enjoyed the electronic menu system also. Just took my twelve year old twins with my wife her 91yr old mother, and myself for lunch. Just superb on all counts. Staff are very good food is amazing. Mother-in-law (from Wales) best food she's had in NZ!!

Came here on a Saturday night. Restaurant was pack. I did not reserve any table, we came as a party of 2. However, the staff were amazing, they had us sitting on the bar and order first and move us to a table when there was an empty one. We ordered the sharing platter and everything on it taste amazing! Love the atmosphere and food! The price is pretty reasonable too! Will definitely be coming again~

Went there the day after Christmas. Amazing place, amazing food, great service, it is a unique experience going there. The brisket and the smoked lamb were both to die for! They just melted in our mouths! We also loved the Madeleine bread, so good ๐Ÿ‘ Recommended to book before going, as pretty busy. So worth it, and can't wait to come back!

Went to The Fat Cow on Saturday night. Party of two. After stressing about being late for our reservation due to not finding parking. The staff were great and not fussed. They have small tablets for you to order your meals. Pretty cool. We ordered a the sour dough loaf as a starter and for the mains we ordered the 200g eye fillet steak and the pork belly. The meals were lovely though the crackling on the pork belly was soft and you couldnโ€™t get a Jus for the steak. We did request it. We used our Entertainment voucher which gave 25% off the final bill. We had a lovely evening. The atmosphere was great and the staff very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back again.

As you walk around The Mount, you get smells of delicious food being conjured from all the food places. The aroma coming from their wood fired grill was out of this world!! What can great place for dinner! Amazing friendly staff!! Best service I've had for a long time. We were made to feel so welcome and the staff went through the specials and how to use their tablets for ordering. Attentive stag checking throughout our time there. You can tell their staff enjoys working there. Lots of smiles! We ordered the eye fillet steak, pork ribs, beef brisket and kids cheese burgers. To quench the thirst, we ordered pinacolada, raspberry lemonade, red beer n lemmy lemon. The eye fillet was pretty good! Melts on the mouth with the good seasoning, right amount of fries and a healthy serving of salad! Pork ribs sauce was delicious, ribs was tender but could be a bit more fall off the bones fell. Kids Beef burger was chowed down by the teen, juicy and on a brioche bun! The beef brisket was seasoned to perfection! Tender, moist and a party in my mouth truth every bite! Everything went together well! Best pinacolada ever! Can't wait to go back again!

Well I have to agree with some of the negative comments regarding the self serve approach to ordering food. It does seem to lose the appeal of going to a restaurant. I completely understand why they have done it. But when you have such beautiful friendly people like Lina and Roberto on the front of house I really think you are missing a trick. Maybe give people the option of being served or going to the vending machine. The food atmosphere canโ€™t be faulted.
