Review Sal's Authentic New York Pizza - Mount Maunganui

We waited for these guys to open - 11:30 on the dot! Just as it says on the door. We ordered our usual - pepperoni pizza. Only this time, there was something new - a pizzadough doughnut - absolutely sensational! Totally recommend these little morsels of greatness, wth raspberry dipping sauce.

The pizza here is great, as is the service. This is the most New York like pizza I've had outside of New York! Note: Be sure to try the garlic knots! They are wonderfully chewy and garlicky, the best we've ever had (even better than other Sal's locations in Auckland)!

We would say this pizza is soo good we drive from taupo frequently just to get it for dinner. We wish it was closer. It’s a small restaurant but overall good vibe. Once or twice we have had a not properly reheated slice, but over all if you can get it fresh it is amazing

Awesome pizza and great service every time. Nice seating area with big screen TV. Ask for a parmesan shaker! Highly recommend the pepperoni wheels!

Sals pizza is delicious, and the chicken wings in original are to die for! Delicious tasty spicy but not blow your head off spicy. Just right. You get ranch and blue cheese dressing to dip wings in and pizza crust after, of course! The extra side portion of grated parmesan and marinara sauce is yum but unnecessary. Overall it's delicious, staff were friendly and inviting. Atmosphere inside was dead. We were only ones sitting in waiting for pizza on a Wednesday night. I'd prefer to see music videos instead of catfish on the screen and do incentives to get people to dine in. A few people ordered online for pick-ups, but the restaurant itself was empty. I was impressed with the qualify of taste and ingredients, and the staff were super nice and helpful. I thought $72 was a lot for 6 slices of pizza two drinks and one portion of chicken wings. I also wanted a gluten free option but there was none. I ate the pizza anyway it was really good but then suffered afterwards because with age our gluten intolerance goes up. That's how much I love pizza 🍕 So overall I'd give gluten free options, put music videos on screen and do cheap pizza night incentives to get people to dine in to create ambiance and atmosphere.

We online ordered a bit too close to closing but they still made the pizza for us! Definitely fault on our end but the girl and guy working handled it super nicely :) thank you!!

Unfortunately, one of the worst Pizzas from them this time. Zero flavour and it was not cooked properly. Was so looking forward to it too.... and it's not cheap.

Really enjoyed the pizza! Nice toppings and a really decent size. Mozzarella sticks are fantastic, can order everything online for pickup or delivery.
