Review Papparich - Mount Wellington

Great portions and delicious!! Both dry and soup noodles we had were flavorful, bring your own containers to take the left over if you’re not a big eater. The milk tea was nice as well, not too sweet and strong tea flavor as how I like it.
Lucky G (Squeeze_in_nz)
Nice restaurant and yummy food, but milo dinosaur was not quite sweet in nz. Furthermore, if you’d like to wrap up the leftovers, it will charge 0.5 for the box.

We had great meals. Very well customer service. Foods are great as usual.

I absolutely enjoyed Dinner at Papa Rich this evening. I would highly recommend trying the Sesame Chicken (R08). It was succulent, saucy and full of goodness. The N04 was delightfully smokey, the prawns were lovely and the flat noodles flavoured extremely well. I would also recommend any of their drinks as they have all been balanced and tasty.

The Chicken curry noodles never disappoints, it's always good! Ordered the Mee Goreng and Beef Wat Dan Hor as well. Good size portions, but the prices have really gone up since I last came. The Dim Sums have 3x choices, but you can get proper Yum Cha elsewhere. Good drinks and dessert options, clean and tidy atmosphere

Been here a few times, all good! Taste good, and large portions

There's a lot of people eating in this place you may need a reservation but was lucky enough to get one when we were there. The staff are freindly and helpful and the location is nice. Food was fantastic. The serving was quite big and flavourful.

Food is good and priced reasonably for the location. Quantity served is good. Restaurant is clean, comfortable and well presented. Customer service is good and staff members are friendly. I was not very happy with a surcharge being charged for paywave and credit card transactions. Overall, a decent place to enjoy some authentic Malaysian cuisine with friends and family.

Other than the fact that food is more pricey, it’s very delicious and good portion. Service is good. Very spacious between tables, good atmosphere, will definitely come again. Highly recommended

The store is always busy. Food is nice. Steam chicken was okay. Staff is helpful. Price is affordable. Their tea is strong. They have discounts for student with student ID.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was good. Waiter seemed to be new and could not identify the different dishes. Desserts were great too. The plate our caramel dessert was served on was chipped. Food was nice though..menu has a variety.

First time I had PappaRich was in Wellington. I loved it. I was blown away by the service and the authenticity of the food. Auckland is no exception and I love the location, next to the movie theatre. Eat, drink and movie. Perfect night all metres from each other. Situated upstairs away from the main drag makes it a nice quite location from the riff-raff! It’s surrounded by nice big windows making it bright and cheerful. Just like most of the staff. Service is quick even at peak times. Food is delicious and most dishes generous in portion. There were some, ones served with roti, that left me feeling ripped-off and a little hungry. Maybe they should charge less for it, like my portion... less! Overall I would go back and try them all... maybe not the small portion dishes.

This restaurant has been a big talk so finally tried it with my partner. Big disappointment when staff is already rude from the get go. We came in when the place was quiet and not much costumer but we had to wait for 30 mins for my partner’s food whilst mine came in a bit early and sat on the table starting to cool down. Didn’t help that the people who came in got all their food 10 mins after coming in. We didn’t get any apologies or any explanation as to why our order was taking too long. Food was VERY average. Food are priced as if the food is going to be some extra ordinary but it was nothing of special. No great communication from staff and rude service. If you’re gonna work in a costumer service job specifically where people come to enjoy food, make sure you ensure their stay and experience is good. No wonder the review is so low. Not recommended at all. Not coming back.

Great place to have lunch. <br/>Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had lunch here twice and both times I've had the crispy chicken skin on the side so tasty. Roti canai with Beef rendeng was so delicious I've had it twice with the Ribena Melon drink delicious. <br/>Would love to go for dinner as I quite enjoy the ambience of the whole place.

We had a pleasant meal at this restaurant last week. My friend said hers was very good. I thought my Tandoori chicken and fried spring rolls was average. The wait staff were good and we had no complaints. It was a different story today. The table I was seated at had a big piece out of the service at my place setting. The music was so loud we could not converse. My friend asked the waitress to please turn it down a little. We had to repeat this as she could not hear what was said above the noise. She went and conferred with a couple of other staff and announced this was not possible. We left.We won't go back. Looking through the menu, the price they want for a bit of toast is extraordinary.

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon. Ordered a roti telur bawang, and I've witnessed the waitress served my food to the wrong table and customer actually cut it and pressed the bell to inform they've received the wrong order.. the waitress then realized she hs served to the wrong table and she brought it to me... I told her I've seen the customer cut it already, her response was "they havent eat it yet though".. I politely told her I prefer to have a new freshly made, untouched roti please. And she brought the roti back to kitchen without saying a word, no apology, nothing..<br/>Roti was nice, but staffs attitude could be better.. <br/>

Took my friend & her 2 little ones out for an early dinner but frankly quite disappointed compared to the city branch. Stood at the entrance for 5 mins trying to wave a staff down, was initially being guided to a table in the middle of the dining area, but we asked if we could take one against the wall since we had kids in our group, the waitress guiding us didn't seem to pleased at the idea, but after speaking to 2 other staff members we were finally offered a table against the wall. We ordered as soon as we got to the new table, food didn't take long to arrive, unfortunately 2 dishes were wrong, 1 was replaced quite quickly but they had trouble with the 2nd one for some reason and after a 3rd attempt they finally delivered what we ordered. Food was mostly what we would expect, however the hainanese chicken was on the tougher side when its usually really nice & juicy. When we went to settle the bill, they almost charged us for the 2 dishes they mistakenly delivered to our table, once again the staff seemed really reluctant in hearing us out until our waiter came to tell the cashier that it was their mistake & not ours.

Good environment and nice food!

Excellent service and delicious food with acceptable price. Will go again with family and friends. Recommended.

The food was overall really good. We ordered the wrong dish (fault on our end) but the staff's response was quite unfriendly about it even when we weren't requesting it to be changed. But otherwise, the seats are very spacious and portion size is great!

Been to PappaRich once in Wellington a couple years ago and didn’t enjoy the food at all- haven’t been since. <br/><br/>My dad and sister often frequent to PappaRich and love it, so thought I would give it a second go! I ordered the Nasi Goreng with chicken, the whole meal was pretty tasteless but the fried chicken had potential. The meal wasn’t even hot when served. A very disappointing dinner!

Staff looked like they are tired and not happy to be at work and they literally just opened 10 mins ago. It was our first time there and when we asked somebody to take our order, they just pointed bluntly on the piece of paper we have to write on. Nobody taught us how to do it and they already looked annoyed at us. Crispy noodles was good, nothing extraordinary but may come back only for this one.

Have been to paparich many times and to see this was extremely disappointing. The price for this is nearly $20 for this tiny amount of portion. Every other time I go in, the portion at least looks like it fills up the plate more but as you can see it’s barely filling up anything.

I’m a frequet patron of the Pappariches’ in Auckland and I’m afraid I have to say that the standard and quality of food is slowly declining and just not as great as before when they first opened. We ordered the Biryani with sambal eggplant, prawns, a fried chicken and this dish was dry and came out cold. you can barely see the sambal on the eggplant and prawns and they look very bland. Roti Canai was nice and crisp. Wan tan hor had a good flavour too. Assam Laksa was OK but still at room temperature. Overall the food is still passable but I do hope it improves on a couple of their dishes and maintains their standard on the rest.
Hay
Terrible. Food arrived cold. Service was bad. There was no one at the counter to take the bill. We literally had to walk up to the kitchen to get some one. Definately would never go back!
Nitaradabest
used to eat here all the time, now its horrible! food comes out in like 5 minutes and doesn't taste fresh like it was made on the day, bland taste. full let down. plus one of the waiters in Sylvia park is totally rude. maybe don't get a job that's full on customer facing if u intend to have bad attitude. you would appreciate it if u got served like that, so don't treat customers like that, especially customers who are nice to you! forgot her name, but need to complain. overall food is horrible.

Service was good and we were seated quickly, and the food arrived fast as well - however I got food poisoning from the curry seafood Laksa that I ordered. Not exactly sure how fresh their ingredients are but would not be keen to go back again.

Me and my friend loved it here!! fast and friendly service, had a great experience and was not disappointed like some others👌🏼would definitely return again.

Friendly staff first time i went with family was vey good experience<br/>And this time went with 12 family members as soon as we sat they told us the kitchen closes at 9pm and we had to order the dessert together with hot food anyways we did so all came at once didnt have flavour and was rushed not happy<br/>Not going back they rushed us for closing early and we spent $400 not like that the food was free 😡😡😡

Staff members were quick with serving and the food was also good!!<br/><br/>Can't really tell the difference with the one in town inside the cinemas - both are great places to go for dining in

I love this place. My all time fave dishes here are the curry seafood laksa, nasi lemak beef rendang and of course their deep fried chicken skin. I often order the coconut paradise for my drink. Good atmosphere and food served fast. <br/>Sadly, their deep friend chicken skin is not often available and it can get crowded during peak hours. Hence, 4 stars.

Generous food servings. Service is great & so is the ambience of the restaurant. Menu has a lot of variety of Malaysian food. Ease of ordering 5/5. Love the table service too. Staff are really polite & helpful.
The Poor Foodie
Food: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Overall: 3/5<br/><br/>Got the chicken laksa and the order came out really quickly. The laksa soup was good as I expected but just found the noodles sticking to each other a lot. <br/>It said wait to be seated but none of the staff was coming to take me so eventually I just walked in and found a seat to sit and ask them to give me a menu :/
Trin
You can never go wrong with Paparich! Their chicken laska is definitely my favourite!<br/><br/>The only thing is this place is always busy so you need to go early if you dont want to wait.<br/><br/>Highly recommended!
Anna Chan
In general, this place is good. The menu itself is beautiful with colourful pictures so you know exactly what you are ordering. I do think the food is very hit or miss. I love the roti and rice dishes but everytime I've ordered noodles I've been disappointed. The wat tan hor (flat rice noodles with egg gravy) is bland and soggy. And the fried noodles mixed with sauce have been waaaay to salty. I like how they have a good drinks menu including soy milk. Overall, I think this place is overpriced (although, it is a franchise so what do you expect, right?)
Louise
Definitely one of my preferred places to eat when I visit Sylvia Park! The dining area is very big (I came around 1pm on a Saturday and the place was packed with people (especially lots of baby prams). There was an approximate wait of 30 minutes which led to big parties of 5-10 people standing on the balcony area and blocking the entrance.<br/><br/>One of my favourite drinks here is the Milo! (They put the perfect amount of Milo that will put all your childhood cravings to rest). Another one of my favourites is the Kaya in the steamed bun with butter - I had this after my entire lunch and it somehow managed to make me hungrier for more food.<br/>I got the chilli pan mee and it was very filling and 100% would recommend!<br/><br/>I liked how they get you to write down your order, it means you can have a bit more time to think, rather than having people come to your table every few minutes asking if you’re ready to order. The only issue is that I guess it wastes a lot of paper (?).<br/><br/>Overall would recommend this place to grab lunch if you’re here shopping, I definitely think its worth the wait for the food.<br/><br/>Food: 5/5<br/>Ambience: 3/5

NOT Recommend at all, this is the worst restaurant and customer service that I have had in NZ in the last 10 years. I waited 20 mins for 2 boiled eggs with toast($9.5) and which the egg was 90% uncooked, so I asked them that, if you could PLEASE make the ONLY unbroken one cooked as I need this to feed my infant, and I got refused and asked to make another order. The staff was really rude and when I asked to speak to their manager and they just fool me around, and I can see they were chatting with their manager behind the counter but he was not coming to see me. <br/><br/>I have already spoken with MPI Food Safety department and confirmed the 90% raw egg is unsafe to eat even for adults. <br/><br/>Unsafe food, Rude customer service, and not appreciation, I am sure myself and friends will not working into that restaurant ever again.
Vitha Pattiasina
Be carefull if you wanna order their food!better know what the filling.<br/>This is my 2nd experience they make me off.<br/>1st,when i order nasi lemak (they forget the prawn)<br/>2nd, i order fillet fish currry (i used to order this on papparich city) and they forget to put eggplant on it. When i asked they said no eggplant until i ask them to see what they put on menu. They end up give me the deepfried eggplant, not the deep fried with flour like the when i used to get on city. <br/>NEVER GOING BACK THERE!<br/>

I went to Sylvia Park Papparich first time last weekend. After waiting for 40 minutes after ordering my food, I checked with one of waiters about the timeframe to receive food on table. The waiter goes for another 15 mins and comes back to inform that the earlier waiter whom I gave my order to lost the order and dared ask me - "Can you give the order again?". I was hoping to receive apology for a start and then question like - "Would you be able to wait for 10 more minutes and we'll make your next order a highest priority" or something along those lines. As a result, I started to leave my table with famished kids and the manager just ignores us. So instead, I decide to talk to the manager and all he says is "Sorry, this time. Hope we see you next time". Thank you very much, you will never see me again.

Convenient and taste good but the overall experience is soured by small items like extra costs for things that usually aren’t worth that like extra dhal for $1.60. Back in the days this branch used to charge $1 for extra chopper chilli.<br/><br/>There is no justification for this given that their dishes sit above market price compared to all dining outlets and more importantly other Malaysian stores like Uncle Man, KK, Selera, Blossom Court to name a few.<br/><br/>Step up Pappa rich. Not a truly Malaysian experience.

Hit and miss. Tasted okay. The roti canai and beef rendang were a bit too sweet for our taste. The restaurant was also too cold even though it was very hot outside.

My favourite go-to dish at Pappa Rich (CBD branch) is normally their Fish Fillet Noodle Soup, however I wanted to try something else from Pappa Rich last Friday and went for Pan Mee. To my disappointment, it wasn’t what I’ve expected. Noodles was definitely way too thick for original Malaysian pan mee. There’s no depth to the soup and not much toppings (meat etc). Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the meal.<br/><br/>I think to be safe, go for their typical chicken and rice dishes (ie. nasi lemak) or other more common dishes (ie. curry noodles or something).<br/><br/>I’m still not giving up on them and will go back to try other dishes - please don’t disappoint me again next round 🙏🏼 I’ll be re-reviewing this after my next visit.

A big dining, clean and classy. The food turned out like it was displayed. After placing the order the food arrived in 10 mins. Been here so many times and every time the service was fast. The food was staggering. I keep coming back for the biryani rice and laska😍

Before 12, not busy at all.<br/>Poor service, one of the staff just suddenly put food in front of you without saying anything with poker face on dressing black suits.<br/>fried chicken skin full of fur in every single piece can't eat at all. Never go there again
Doris Ma
I came here at 2 30pm and it was still packed. However, we were promptly seated.<br/>The service was not too great, some of them brush you off and make it clear they're busy.<br/>For 3 we ordered half a Hainan chicken + chicken rice, roti canai with beef rendang, roti Kaya, deep fried chicken skin, and a matcha rocks drink.<br/>The Hainan chicken was tender while the skin was chewy, and the flavours were authentic. Roti canai was buttery and a good thickness, the dipping sauces accompanied it well. However, the beef was too tough and was hard to eat. Roti Kaya was also buttery and perfect sweetness level. The chicken skin was overfried so it was much too hard to eat, it's the only thing I wouldn't get again.<br/>All in all, a Malaysian restaurant with good food, closer to eat Auckland that id come back to.<br/>
Samuel
the food here is really good.<br/><br/>service is very fast so it's nice not needing to wait too long for a meal.<br/><br/>they have a good wide selection of authentic Malaysian food - will be back to try more

The Malaysian food here is great and tasty.<br/><br/>Food is always served fast (even when it’s busy)! Haven’t been disappointed to date.<br/><br/>Will be back

Premises very clean and spacious. Service was quick and easy. First time having roti and was surprised by how delicious it was - flakey and flavourful. The portions were a bit smaller than would’ve liked, however. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Leonie
Food was average. Beverages were also average. Service was decent. I probably won’t be going back for their savoury food. There was a dessert that was delicious it was a Chinese steamed bun with coconut jam absolutely yum would go just for that.

I came to this restaurant this afternoon at 3h30, their are very quiet, not many customers. Me and my bf ord chicken laksa, steam mantau with curry chicken and 1 soya drink.<br/>The laksa was come first, i still have to wait another 15 mins for my chicken curry but it was not come yet by the time my bf nearly finish, so i asked the staff and she said my dish take a bit longer ,ok! and im keep waiting until my friend finish his dish and yes, finally it come. I just dont understand why they couldnt make it a little bit closer so no one have to wait to each other? And no one tell me that dish take that long ???<br/>And obviously the restaurant was quiet so staff just chatting, play with their phone and totally forgot my drink ??? I though it will come later but even when i finish my chicken curry it still not come. If they r have too much time to talk during working why dont they check the ord a bit carefully? i cannt be bothered to call the staff then wait another 10mins and stay there any more, it was just anoying .<br/>I have no commend about the food, but im very disappointed with the service , i saw you guys have so many bad review about staff and service , im not sure if the manager will read it or not but i hope you guys could fix it !

This place is always busy! So prepare yourself. Once you can get a table you can see why, food and drink are amazing and the service is quick! I cant stop eating the roti! This place definitely hits the spot, so much to choose from you will never run out of options. If you haven't been you must be living under a rock.

One of family go to Malaysian place, abit on the higher price bracket compared to other Malaysian eateries. I guess conveniently located in Sylvia Park mall, so we can do abit of shopping in between and good location to meet with friends. Always packed and most likely you would have to queue. Food can take quite some time. We usually order their ipoh noodle soup, chicken skin, laksa, fish noodles and wan tan hor. They do pretty nice roti too. Still prefer the original Queen St branch for some reason.

Came here with family, a good family restaurant. There was a wait of 1 hour for dinner but very efficient. Food is tasty and fast, drinks are very good.

Standard Malaysian food but keep returning due to convenience in multiple spots and am a frequent visitor the Sylvia Park. Used to come here more often but seems like standard has dropped. Even he deep fried chicken skin used to come out freshly cooked but now seems to be kept in a warmer and served when ordered as oppose to cook to order. Relatively pricey as well compared to other places where you can get more quantity and more authentic and where they don't only give you 5 small pieces of rendang pieces!

First time at this place last week Saturday for lunch and absolutely love it...Good food, Good Service!! 👍👍 would definitely go back there again 🙂

Went here on Saturday for lunch. It was very packed, so we had to wait 15 minutes before we was seated. Ordered the fried fish curry noodles, chicken rice and the beef rendang. The quality is similar to most of the Malaysian places i've been to, which is not bad.<br/><br/>Food quality - 4/5<br/>Taste - 3.5/5<br/>Service - 3/5 despite having so many people<br/><br/>Will come again to try other dishes.
Linda Lin
Came in on waitangi day for dinner and the place was pretty full. That being said the food came really fast however it did take awhile for someone to collect our order cause the way they do it is you write down what you want on this sheet and then you press a button to call a server to collect your order. However we pressed the button twice but no one came till I waved a waitress down nearby.  <br/><br/>The food itself is quite decent especially for the price. I had the char kuay teow which was nicely done and had what us cantonese people call "wok hey" or that sought after charcoal edge from the wok that gives a dish a certain liveliness. I also ordered the tropical lime concoction. that was alright but it was a bit too sweet and artificial tasting for my liking. The poached chicken from one of the rice dishes was done well and was very smooth.<br/><br/>All in all, good restaurant for a quick meal if you want a step up from takeaways or fast food. But probably not the best for a pleasant dinner date.
Al Kumar
Love this place, feels like you are actually eating in a Malaysian mall, its always full but the service is fast, Food is delicious! and the fruity beverages are a must to try. Personal favorite the Mango mania. Reasonable price.

Absolutely great food and amazing service from staff. Full house but we received our food within minutes. friendly staff.... amazing food... Couldn't ask for more

Overall: 3/10.<br/>Bad experience from the moment we walk in. Not worth coming.<br/><br/>Service:3/10.<br/>While waiting by the entrance to be seated, the waitress ignored us completely, not even an acknowledgement, until another waitress eventually seat us on the smallest table when the restaurant was nearly empty. The air conditioning was on full, stressing wind blowing straight on the face. Waitress knows this, she did nothing. We eventually moved to a seat at the corner so we are not blown away. Oh. You have to write down what you want on paper and give it to the waitress. It's not their job to take order verbally.<br/><br/>Food: 2/10.<br/>Super excited to try the chicken skin but greatly disappointed. It was either chewy or hard as rock. Not crispy at all. Ordered chicken with gravy on crispy noodle, the egg was undercooked. See picture. Noodle tasted burned, probably due to over fried oil.<br/><br/>Environment:4/10.<br/>Nice looking restaurant with high end feel. Seriously bad air conditioning though. So many other customers were complaining about this and therefore changing seats. No soap in the restroom.
Limwenqi0204
Ordered crispy egg noodles today. The dish doesn't seem like a fresh cook dish. It looks like the sauce has been just added and microwave. My friend order a curry laksa that doesn't come with sambal, the waitress said extra $2 for sambal. What???

Still one of the best places to eat Malaysian food. Tasty and relatively tidy. But the price is quite high compared to others. <br/><br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Presentation: 4/5<br/>Food Quality: 4/5<br/>Food Quantity: 3/5<br/>Price per person: $30-$40

Best restaurant in Sylvia park shopping center. Love the seafood noodles and drinks here. Dessert is normal but creative. Hainanchicken is full of flavour.nice cook.

Good fried rice but the staff’s attitude is not good. <br/>I ordered the wrong meal and wanted it replaced with the correct one but the staff said can only do a discount. The meal that I got had prawns which I’m allergic to and they won’t replace it for a another one. <br/>Honestly, I was excited to eat Pappa Rich todagand suggested it to my friends but walked out feeling disappointed! <br/>Customers should be their number 1 but it seems like money is their number 1. <br/>Then, I found a mistake that they did, we ordered beef rendang but they gave us chicken rendang.<br/>It is clear that humans make mistakes. Pappa Rich should know better. Other restaurants would have replaced it easily and said sorry but when I demanded it to be replaced, Pappa Rich said “Customers can say the same thing as you then. <br/>I also feel that if I was a white person they would have replaced it with no problem.

It was good place for diner. I used to try noodles here but i tried rice today. It was better than i expected. It served very quickly. Busy restaurant.
Food Explorer
If it was the food itself I would give this place a higher score. The curry chicken with bread was actually quite nice.<br/>The problem for us was the staff’s attitude and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The table next to us had young kids and made a big mess on the floor. 3 staff came and cleaned the table after they left, but none of them cleaned the floor. They obviously did noticed it because they tried to avoid stepping on the cucumbers while clearing the table. 3-4 staff have walked passed many times in the next 15mins but none of them tried to clean up the mess. One waitress decided to put a chair back and put the chair a bit further out to avoided the mess. To our amazement the manager decided to sit new customers on that exact table with cucumbers, food scapes & container lid on the floor while half the restaurant was empty. <br/>If the front of house have this attitude towards keeping the place clean, I can’t imagine what it will be like at the back.
James De Castro
Rather disappointing experience. From walking in we were rushed to our table. Food was cold and extremely bland even after specifying "extra spicey".<br/><br/>Only reason I have given two stars is because the mango mania drink was nice.<br/><br/>Will not be returning<br/>
Yuemeng Ji
Hands down one of the worst food I’ve had in Auckland. The hainanese chicken consists of 6 pieces of thinly sliced chicken and were tasteless. The rice was mushy and soggy, looked like it’s been over cooked or reheated. And that dish cost $18. What a rip off! Would never visit again.
Prashant Gavri
A very good Malaysian restaurant with a very elaborate menu, the roti canai is a must try and so is the Malaysian ice coffee. A bit on the expensive side for anyone who has tried Malaysian at other joints.
Katrina Fineisaloi
Have been here once and would love to go back again😊 The food was nice and staff were very nice too, loved the atmosphere and it’s a pretty chill for a date or just to eat😊

I'll be honest, this is not my favourite Malaysian joint, by a long shot.<br/><br/>We've been here a few times because it's convenient, due to it's sweet location, it becomes the default choice for a lot of people wanting malaysian food, even over Hawker and Hall just down the lane. But I'd wish the guys running this place didn't take that for granted and kept the standard it had on the day it opened.<br/><br/>As soon as you walk in, you can feel the bottom of your shoes sticking to the floor as you walked. I HATE restaurant that have greasy floors, feels like they haven't been mopped in months.<br/><br/>Order taking was quick enough, but a) there was never enough self server water for the table b) tables and seats were not wiped down properly c) never enough napkins, they only give you 4 thin pieces, one for each person.<br/><br/>Food itself was just .... ok. I forget the name of the dish I ordered (see photo), but it did NOT look appetising. It kind of looks like it was left over from someone else's dish, and the flavours were kind of weird.<br/><br/>You had the dark sauce, which was kind of sweet and salty, with a SINGLE chili on top (generous), and the curry chicken was spicy and well, curry like, the two flavours just fought with each other and you're left not knowing what it is you are trying to taste.<br/><br/>Overall, it was just enough to be filling, enjoyable? not so much. Don't think I'll be back if I can avoid it.

My friend & I decided to go to Paparich's for dinner. I ordered the<br/>N12 which was a soupy mixture of boiled chicken & prawn with noodles. It wasn't salty, it wasn't sweet & the chicken & prawns were very juicy. The bowl it was served in was larger than my head & I thought I'd never be able to finish it BUT good golly miss Molly, that is exactly what I did. Lol. Needless to say it was delicious. The drink was a little too much on the sweet side, so I may try something else next time. I'm definitely going here again!☺
FoodieBeast
I have come here many times. But this place has slipped in terms of its food and service. Worst out of the Paparich chain. Will definitely not be returning.

Came in for lunch with mom today. Ordered a fish head noodles soup and a toasted hainan bread with condensed milk. Bread was super thick and crispy. Tasted as if it was fresh out the oven. Perfect amount of condensed milk over bread. The fish head was crispy on the outside. Noodles were rice noodles and soaked up lots of flavour from the broth.

Food was amazing, but the customer service (Sharmaine) is lacking in hospitality. Maybe next time don't treat us like we don't know what we're ordering.
Little Borneo Girl
Probably the biggest and also the priciest of all Malaysian Restaurants in Auckland. Won’t really mind to pay a bit more if the dishes were nice but our two dishes (noodles with steam chicken and fried noodles) were not at all authentic and didn’t taste good. $17.90 each which is at least a couple of dollars more than what you would pay at other Malaysian Restaurant. The only good thing is the convenient location and the success of this Malaysian grown franchise.
Airan
I'm a regular to PappaRich. The reason I'm keeping come to here is the drinks they are offering. They're all taste good and colourful. For the food part, I always order three things Pappa special nasi lemak, Pappa chicken with steamed rice and Deep fried chicken skin. They are all good choices!<br/>

Sylvia Park is my favourite haunt. Beside Zara & Platypus, PappaRich is my next go to. Ordered a curry kway teow with steamed chicken & a Ipoh kway teow soup with chicken slices & thought of Malaysia straight away! The portion size is huge & left the restaurant feeling not only full but super HAPPY!
Jennifer King
The food quality is getting worse!look at the rice noodle is burnt and laksa is oily, and no flavor ! Not worth to come back again. The environment is good and staffs are friendly .

13th October<br/>I ordered Ipoh kuey teow soup, it didn’t come with a spoon. I asked a supervisor to give me a spoon . She was like “ohh”, then she went to cashier to accept customer’s payment , but no follow up after . Excellent

I enjoyed my time at Papparich in Sylvia Park. It serves up the same great tasting food and friendly service that I’ve come to expect from their branches in Queen St and in Wellington. <br/><br/>My friend and I both had the Nasi Lemak and finished our meals happy and full. The curry does have a bit of spice to it though. <br/><br/>There was lots of space when we came at 4:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon, but I’ve noticed long queues during peak hours on other nights that I’ve visited Sylvia Park. <br/><br/>I’d happily come back to Papparich at Sylvia Park – keep up the good work!

I love malaysian cuisine. I tried Papparich in the city first and we kept on coming back there. Then, they opened a new branch in Mt. Wellington, which is good coz’ its closer to my home. Couldn’t help but compare the service and food though. Food in the city branch comes in at the same time, whilst in Mt Wellington doesn’t. My seafood laksa was served first, then my husband’s order came after 15mins or so. We weren’t informed that his food will take some time to be cooked which was disappointing. And this happened more than once, I was with different people in those occasions. hope they will try to improve their service.

Absolutely delicious Malaysian food. <br/>Service is just above average.<br/>Especially liked the wah tan hor. Smokey fried rice noodles and silky sauce. <br/>The curries were also pleasant on the old pallet.<br/>Would return again when back for movie.

Have lunch with some work colleagues here. Ordered the Prawn pad Thai like meal, chicken skins & a Lemon iced tea. Meal was around $29 in total. The pad Thai like meal was quite disappointing as there were only 3 pieces of prawn and the rest was just egg, noodles & some onions would recommend this dish. The chicken skins were a bit overcooked and crisp. This was served to us lukewarm which put me off a bit. The lemon iced tea also quite disappointing. For the price paid I didn't feel I got my money's worth. Would not consider returning again in future.

Went here for a friend's birthday and it was rather pleasant. The food was extremely tasty, and the drinks were great. The only note of contention is the fact that there is a rather long wait to get a seat, but what do you expect? When the food, ambience, and service are all on point.

Nice decor and very clean restaurant<br/>Had the fish curry noodle which is tasty but a little pricy<br/>Beef rendang is very little, 4 cubes if i am not wrong $17<br/>Well, and tap water should have been freely available<br/>

We were at table 32. We ordered 4 main meals and including 3 soya milk tea and a grass jelly. Our drinks didn’t arrive at all, except for the grass jelly. We asked the staff multiple times but no one seems to care for our order. This is one of my favourite food places and often bring my friends and family to dine. I am disappointed of the services tonight. At the end we have to cancel the 3 drinks.

Very busy place even on a Monday. We came here just before the busy lunch hour and managed to get a table for seven without a booking. A few staff had limited english so there was abit of a struggle with communication. I love that we order our own food and each table has a buzzer to call for attendance. Food was delicious and generous. Would definitely come back for more although abit over priced.

Disgusting customer service!!! We came for a nice family lunch and ordered our dishes. They missed one dish, and we had to wait for almost 1 hour. The waitresses were really nice, but because our food didn't come for at least 30 mins after that, we finally asked for the manager, who came and shouted at us, then threatened to call security even when we calmly explained that we have been waiting for our food!

glad paparich opened in sylvia. all the foods are tasty and generous amount. love the kaya spread buns,go for the steam bun than the toast. the fish fillet curry soup? this is the best, the fish is crispy outside and not over cooked and heaps in the noodle, it comes with vermicelli noodle but too much noodles in the soup,i tend to change the noodle to other type or ask for half noodle.

Great place to eat here. Big restaurant with lots of seats. Prices are fair. Love the curry and roti, drinks are great too. Excellent friendly service.

I usually go to their branch in city (Sky World on Queen Street) however I was out this way so I tried the food here. Although they seem slightly slower here than in the CBD, their food quality is still at an incredibly high standard. They also gave my table 2x $10 off vouchers as they were running a promotion. So that made me come go back twice, and the food quality has been consistent over all 3 times here. Would recommend here if you want Malaysian food and are out this way!

24/08/18<br/><br/>My partner and I received terrible service, not exaggerating to say that the attitudes were hostile. After asking for chicken instead of prawns and receiving neither, just plain noddles, we had a sort of combative reaction when we complained. They removed our dish and returned the same dish 20min later suspiciously re-fried . Also, cold rotis that did not arrive with the curry.
Stephen Phuan
I would not recommend this place , Thai is not authentic Malaysian Cuisine at all. My friend order a Special Nasi Lemak which come with the sambal prawn but they just simply some curry gravy on the prawn and tell us that is SAMBAL PRAWN 😂😂😂 And still the Manager told us that is SAMBAL PRAWN ! Jesus Christ , if we are not Malaysia we may believe in that, but We are truly know what is Sambal and Curry mate. So sad for this restaurant , at last after we complained about the prawn all the staff here like ignored us like nothing happens before. Bravo ! Appreciated that ! We won’t come again anymore ! Thanks for giving us such a helpful experience ! PS : That Fried Chicken Skin is just look like Fried 10 times before , it just Dark color as shit when they served to us ! 😅😅😅

Big love for this Malaysian restaurant for their ABC ice kacang! This is actually a chain restaurant so you can expect a certain standard for their food. The environment is very comfortable and the washroom is clean. A good ambient place with nice food is important to me and if the waitresses are attentive and friendly it will be perfect. Therefore I will give 5 stars for here although I think they are a little bit pricy.
Resmy Chandrika
Average Malaysian food.Ordered biriyani rice with sambal egg plant & red chicken which was disappointing.Roti & tandoori chicken was just ok .The only order which met expectation was desert ....banana flitters with ice cream
Pam Sayco
Worst Malaysian food we had. Food was cold. Hair on the plate but no action taken because the front of the house and manager can’t understand English. After complaining the manager’s reply was ‘sorry for that.’ <br/>Price of the food is not worth it.
Vaqara_Kana
The long que is a testament to the authentic Malaysian flavours served up at this establishment, we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated but well worth the wait.

So I went here because I have been to Papparich CBD and I thought It was be same but here it was a really big disappointment. I ordered N17(The Spicy Noodles not pictured) and they were just disappointing. The noddles was soggy and you couldn’t have individual taste! <br/>Then ordered Fried wings and they were pretty good. Loved it! <br/>And when I went again I ordered N13(Egg gravy noodles with chicken) and it was just disappointing as well. The broth was salty with no taste. And ordered watermelon juice and it was good. <br/><br/>So never go to papparich at Sylivia Park. It won’t be upto standard and will be pure disappointment. #honestreview

Food is great. Full of flavor. Love their drink with many choices. But table and floor are not clean. Stuff just swiped all the remaining food from table to the floor. How about the floor?? We have to clean the table ourselves cos is sticky. Why cant they train the stuff better of hygiene.

This place is always busy, which is always a good sign. Food was amazing. Served promptly and very clean restaurant. Very family friendly place too.

Update on 19 August 2018:<br/><br/>We went to this restaurant again today for lunch.<br/><br/>We had Papa Special Nasi Lemak (nasi lemak with chicken curry and sambal prawns), Papa Special Biryani Rice (with fried chicken and beef rendang), toasted hainan sandwich with butter and kaya, ice blended chocolate and mango mania (ice blended mango with lychee).<br/><br/>The chicken curry for the nasi lemak and the beef rendang for the biryani rice were not as good this time, both were not as flavourful too. They were also not adequately salty. The fried chicken for the biryani rice was average.<br/><br/>Overall, the food quality for this visit was just average.<br/><br/>Their customer service was still as good as the previous visits.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 5/10<br/>Service : 7/10<br/>Price : 5/10<br/>Ambience. : 8/10<br/><br/>Previous Comments:<br/><br/>Whenever I crave for Malaysian foods, this is one of the restaurants that strikes my mind.<br/><br/>The foods there are good, at par with the standard of authentic Malaysian foods. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient.<br/><br/>Have dined in this restaurant for quite a number of times, and every time I dined there, the foods and drinks were served fast, averagely within 20 minutes despite during busy hours.<br/><br/>Bright, fairly clean and comfortable environment.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 7/10<br/>Service : 7/10<br/>Price : 5/10<br/>Ambience. : 8/10

The service is appallingly here. Came here in a group, and one person's main got left off. When queried, waiter did not have any record to refer back to and seemed confused about the menu items themself. Instead of hurrying along the left off meal (as everyone else had already finished), second order went to the back of the queue and took another 20 mins. The waiter delivering it pretended that she couldn't hear our comment when asked why it took so long then mumbled something about "manager" before hurrying off. Instead of the manager coming along to apologise, we later saw them eyeing us in the corner and just sniggering to each instead. Would not come here again, food was very averaged and overpriced to top it off.

I’ve always heard people talk about this place so considered trying it. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the food but really enjoyed the drinks.

Hi, earlier this evening at about approximately 1900 NZT, my partner and I went to your Sylvia park branch. We were sat down by one of your waitress and we wrote down our order. We down R17 for my partner and C05 for myself. Whilst I was writing the order, I asked the waitress who attended our table that for order #R17 we wanted to replace the rice with some salad as my partner is on low carb diet and just wanted to have the beef randang with salad instead of rice. The lady asked the duty supervisor at the ‘Peter’ who came up to our table said that it was not possible. I asked him all we want is to replace the rice on one of our dish to salad, which I believe is very simple and doable. He then replied in a very rude and aggressive tone that this was not possible and is against their policy. He then asked us and I quote “Either order the usual food or we can’t offer you anything else”. After I heard his comments, I was very shocked and surprised about the way he was talking to us even after I told him that I’m a regular customer and been going to the papa rich restaurant for many years including the one in auckland cbd. He ignored everything I was telling him and said he can’t help us in anyway. I must say, in my 11 years in NZ I never ever had a poor service from any restaurant or organisation. This is by far the worst dining experience of my life.
Rulaaldoori
Worst experience ever , the supervisor petter wasn’t helpful at all , we just asked for R17 which is beef with rice and prawns and i told him i want salad instead of the rice , put some cucumber and tomato and no rice!! He said we cannot do that and if they did it so each slice of cucumberor tomato 1$ extra then we just decided to leave ! !!!!! It’s not an innovative thing i asked this is the most weirdest thing ever i have been experience with any restaurant in my life. Ewww
Momo_chan
Very disappointed on the taste. <br/><br/>Service just ok. Like other normal asian restaurant expectation.<br/><br/>However foods are not as delicious as the City centre branch which i would like to rate 5 star for city branch.<br/>My colleague and I ordered Char Kwe Tiaw and Wan Than Hor on our visit today. She requested a spicy char kwe tiaw and extra spicy for my wan than hor. None of our foods are spicy at all. I think the chef never care what the customer request, although there is request space provided in the order menu. <br/>When the food was delivered, only 3 pieces of small cut chili provided on the side, with an extra salty soy sauce.<br/>My wan than hor also tasted only the soy sauce.
Navneel Naicker
Thought I would try out the Sylvia park location as it is closer than the cbd. Ended up waiting 25mins to get a table. Once we sat down at the table we ordered our food and waited 20mins until someone came and told us that there were out of biriyani rice. We got up and left straight away. Customer service skills need major improving.

Great tasting food with perfect sized portions.<br/>Really liked the easy ordering system and considering how busy it was the food came out in a good amount of time. Also liked how spacious the seating was. Will be back for more.
Nafis Haider
The food was amazing. We love the ordering system.. It is while a wait for the food. But it's worth a way. We enjoyed the service also. Very nice place and environment. I would love to go back again. Good Malaysian food one of my top five pick.
Lita Lokeni
Love coming here with family an friends. Food is very affordable and tasteful with a lot of flavour. Staff are friendly and food came out quick..
Adhisha
The food here was great. The only negative was that we had to wait about 5 minuets for a table to be free because it was busy on a Saturday night. The service was OK. They didn’t give us water until we asked them.
Jho Meets Food
Have been here a few times.Generally have been good experience overall. Hands down my favourite would be the Nasi Lemak with beef randing. The rice was packed full of flavour with coconut milk and hint of pandan.I could have just eaten the rice by it self. The combination of sweet from the rice, savoury from the fried anchovies, spice from the sambal sauce and crunch from the peanuts.Perfect combination. The fish fillet noodle soup was warming and tasty.love the big chunks of fish. Fried chicken skin was crispy and tasty (beware for those who have high blood pressure!) I always get the the pappa cham (tea) its good whether hot or cold. Have also tried the matcha on the rocks which is probably best to be drink/eaten as a dessert because of the ice cream component. The char koay teow was ok, predominant flavour was the flat noodle ( would have preferred more spices/sauce/soy sauce). Meals are reasonably good size.<br/><br/>Only disadvantage is they don’t take reservations. So either go early before peak meal time hours or be ready to wait for a table.<br/><br/>Ambience: 5/4<br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>

customer service is lovely, service was very quick, the food how ever, wasn’t as impressed or didn’t give me the “wow” with one of the dishes. The one with egg in the picture was around $18, for “pre packed veges, cucumbers, egg and rice and chicken. The sauce wasn’t that wonderful but I’m sure there are other dishes that are better and worth more, probably had a wrong choice and will try again.
JPK
Tried this two times in last 2 months and had similar experiences both times.<br/>First time food came after a long wait but must say bread was soft and crispy.<br/>Second time it didn't took long and chicken dish was really good but vegetarian curry was just ok.
Thanos
Average food and the drinks are worst!<br/><br/>Ordered hot lemon honey which consisted of mostly water and tasteless!<br/><br/>Did have some gimmick dishes like deep fried chicken skin, which was OK.<br/><br/>Services not very attentive I would say,
Orient Express
I recognised the PappaRich franchise from dining at a Melbourne branch years ago and recall it being a good experience so being a fan of Malaysian food, I was keen to try out the one in Sylvia Park.<br/><br/>The menu, while developing is rather expansive. I wasn't too impressed with the rice dishes like the ones accompanied by fried chicken in black pepper sauce which tasted more like gravy than black pepper or the overly timid curry chicken. The noodle dishes however, fared much better. The Wat Tan Hor (flat rice noodles covered in egg gravy) was vibrant and contained all the necessary elements. The gravy had a good consistency, noodles were cooked just right and most importantly enough flavour. The Char Kway Tiao was no slouch either. Its flavours leaned away from sweet. It was mostly salty (but not too salty) with a tiny touch of spice so those who can't handle spicy food may enjoy this one.<br/><br/>The decor of the restaurant is above that of your average Asian eatery and that is reflected in the price. The ordering system consists of you writing numbers on a piece of paper to be collected by a waiter who you can summon by pressing a button. The staff are friendly enough and the water is self service.<br/><br/>PappaRich hasn't blown me away with authentic, bold flavours from the East but the more I think about it, the more I realize that's not its intention. I feel that PappaRich's goal is to bring palatable Malaysian food to the masses in a consistent and presentable manner, which I think it has done adequately. In that regard, PappaRich could be a perfectly acceptable choice for those who aren't as finnicky about Malaysian food as I am.<br/><br/>Recommendations: Wat Tan Hor, Char Kway Tiao

The chicken curry laksa is always my favourite here as well as the roti & curries. Staff are always friendly & quick when needed. Always a good experience here.
Arisha
Nice food and drinks. It does get quite busy and the staff aren’t really attentive to you. They don’t check up on you to see if you’re okay or want anything else.
Catveen
Their kopi (sweet dark coffee) and kaya toast (thick butter served with sweet coconut jam/jelly) is a favourite of ours for any time of the day. And yes this is a Malaysian restaurant, but it takes us back to Singapore - their Hainan chicken rice is always tasty and satisfying, and the roti is fluffy and heavenly.
Michael Hung
The food is ok, but expensive compared to other Malaysian restaurant. Drinks are way too sweet ! Our favorite is the chicken rice and fried fish head noodles.
Rachel
I ordered the Pappa Char Kway Teow for lunch. I was impressed by the serving size when my dish arrived and the flavour tasted as expected. It was tasty and enjoyable. I recommend to visit here early because the restaurant gets packed by 12pm, especially on weekends. The atmosphere is certainly classy and when there is low light, the lighting sets an elegant mood in the room.

Food not coming at once during the busy period, my mum finished her meal already but my mrs dish is not ready yet. Good service. Food not very tasty and a bit of over priced.
Aman
Service is really good and efficient and also the food doesn’t take long at all to come out even during busy periods the food is good as well full of flavour and usually tastes fresh but the last time I went some of the food tasted like it had been siting around for a while and didn’t have that normal fresh taste .

AMBIENCE 5/5<br/>SERVICE/STAFF 4/5<br/>FOOD 3/5<br/>PRESENTATION 5/5<br/>QUANTITY/PRICE 4/5<br/><br/>The place is very spacious can fit a lot of people. It was pretty busy when I went for lunch on Friday. We got seated right away and the staff that took us to the table did not smile or talk much just gave us the paper to right down our food and once finished took the paper to place order not much communication between us. The food came within 10 mins. The rice was warm and the curry was warm to cold. I thought the briyani rice had a lot of flavour n the mock meat had a lot of flavour n tasted good. Only complaint was it was kind of cold and the rice had a lot of cloves. The presentation was very good and the quantity was good for the price. Overall recommend.

We, thirteen of us, were here on a Thursday night. The menu looked very impressive with attracting images on food. I ordered a seafood curry laksa and ice coffee. They were absolutely not to my expectation. The ice coffee had little coffee flavour. The curry laksa was not like curry laksa at all, lots of coconut flavour but little curry taste. The food ordered by others in my group, didn’t look appealing to me too. However the restaurant has good ambience and was spacious. Service staff were polite and efficient. But the yucky food I won’t go there again.

Friendly service, me and my friends went at night to have dinner there it was very busy! But service was fast and the steam chicken was delicious!

Nice food worth the price paid for, this is my usual lunch place. Visit 3 times a week but never seen a smile on any of the staff, specially the lady at front counter take payments. Overall 3.5

Very poor service.<br/>Ordered the hainan half chicken today, it's overcooked and dry, as if it was from yesterday. The waitress offered to replace another order, however, after waiting for 20mins, the waitress asked us to wait for another 15mins for the new order. Really disappointing!
Bienmaria94
This restaurant is very busy during weekends, but we don’t like their food, fish head soup not tasty, compared with the portion size, over priced. Coconut rice is sticky and no flavor, deep fried chicken skin is horrible, fried rice noodle is so dry, five of us ordered different meal, none of us like.
CocoOnFire
Have been Sylvia Park two days in a roll last week.1st day, we waited 10 minutes for the table, food arrived pretty fast at lunch time. 2nd day, 12 of us went for dinner, service was a bit slow.<br/>Fish head curry laksa is very nice in both city and Sylvia Park restaurants, the deep fried eggplants with the laksa is crispy but not oily, just not enough soup in Sylvia Park. Nasi namak ....must try, both Paparich has done a good job.<br/>Hainam Chicken- we had the whole chicken at Sylvia Park, the size seems very small, the taste had no suprise.<br/>Chicken with dry rice noodle and Chicken Rice are good choice if you don't eat chilli.<br/>Char Kway Teow and Wat tan hor were alright, not the best; sure other Malaysian restaurants do better.<br/>Beef Rendang Rice was another kind of spicy, I love it.<br/>
FlyingMonkey
Great food, great value and great location. we waited about 10min for our table but it was well worth it. my laka noodle was really good and highly recommended.

Came here around 6pm on a Monday night. The restaurant was well lit and decorated. We waited at the front to be seated which did not take long. <br/>Having visited the CBD store many times we were hoping that the food did not disappoint. <br/>We ordered a milo dinosaur and milk tea with coffee jelly to drink. <br/>My partner ordered a dish, I forgot the name, but he was pleased with the taste. We also ordered a roti with three dipping sauces and I ordered chicken curry with garlic naan. <br/>The garlic naan did not appear as aesthetically pleasing as the one on the menu but it was tasty all the same. <br/>The curry chicken had a nice mild flavour and a pleasant mix of spices. The naan was perfect to mop up the sauces. <br/>The roti had purple onions and a faintly sweet taste which was different but nice in its own way. It was paired with three sauces, all quite different so you do get to taste a variety. Highly recommend this. <br/>Overall the bill came to just over $50 for two.

Thank goodness Auckland finally has Papparich!! This is the place to go for an authentic taste of Malaysian cuisine. Highly recommend the Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Pan Mee, Char Kway Teow and make sure you order Sambal eggplant as a side! (Heavenly!!) Plus their massive selection of drinks is fantastic. Their coconut slushy is dreamy and their lychee soda (served with whole lychee and lime slices) is the perfect accompaniment for any spicy dish.<br/>ALSO if you are a fan of sago, I highly recommend the caramel pudding with sago (Asian version of pannacotta) surrounded my coconut sago and sweetened with gula melaka (to die for!)
Rohit
I go here often and usually this place is good. However my latest trip here wasn’t. Waited around 10-15 minutes just to be seated - restaurant had more than enough empty tables (3 pm on a Saturday afternoon) Ignored by 2-3 waiting staff. Finally got seated and ordered 2 drinks, chicken fried noodles and noodles in egg gravy. Once we rang the bell a waiter, Eric, came over, snatched the order off my hands and left without a word. Thoroughly disappointed. Food was good but the whole experience was a let down.
R Chan
we popped in for lunch not long after it opened. the place was extremely busy but we managed to get a table as there was only two of us.<br/><br/>I had a chicken curry and my friend ordered a rice noodles dish. We agreed to share a beef Randang as an appetizer. Plus we each got a mango drink.<br/><br/>The Beef Randang was cold so we were forced to send it back. Thankfully the replacement was piping hot. Other than that, the food was quite acceptable although portion size tended on the smaller scale.
Rajan Bawa
This place is good for nothing, food has no taste, we order lychee soda but they put too much sugar when we told them , they say its there standard and said next time we should write the sugar level . <br/><br/>Staff is so rude and some of them is so confused also. Avoid this place now
Rumi Youka
Food is average and kind of inconsistent, the environment is good, nice place to have a sit down and have a meal if you're not fussy about service and taste. The only thing consistent here was the terrible service tbh. We asked for water and the waiter rolled his eyes at us (probably thinking we didn't see but it was really obvious sorry!!), if we could get our water ourselves we would have! Staff was pretty rude in general (there were 2-3 that were lovely tho!). We're a group of younger girls and all of us work in hospitality, and we do try to be understanding that in varying situations service quality can change but every single time we come here the service is just disappointing.

Papparich Sylvia Park, You have not impressed me what so ever! I'm actually disappointed as I love Papparich on Queen St. <br/>Food: 2.5/5 <br/>Place: 3/5 (When it's Crowded)  <br/>Customer service: 1.5/5!! (No manners) <br/><br/>It's either a bad experience or......You tell me.
Nathalie
Came here for quick lunch and the place wasn’t pack the service is excellent staff were all lovely and super friendly! It’s pretty fancy compared to other Paparich around auckland! The let down for us was the food, I had chicken curry and rice and the amount of meat is so small I think I had about 4 small pieces and rest was sauce (soo much rice) taste wise it’s pretty average and not authentic. We also had beef rendang and again same with chicken dish the beef was very dry and sauce was average. For the price you pay $17? you are better off eating somewhere else that’s more authentic.. their drinks are yum though! Overall it’s below average with flavours and portion sizes. Probably won’t be back.

After having a lovely meal at paparich in Auckland city I recommended me & a friend try the Sylvia park location. She ordered the dry curry noodle with curry chicken & I got the dry curry noodle with steamed chicken. When our meals arrived we were instantly turned off by the fishy smell of the food but we continued to eat, my friend cut into her curry chicken to find the inside of the meat raw, there was no doubting it as we sent pictures to friends to confirm as we can be picky but every person Said no send it back. She told the waitress who took it to the kitchen, she brought the dish back and said “if it’s not cooked enough for you we can give you 10% discount” my friend didn’t want the meal at all by this stage but the only option given was a 10% discount & to be told “you can still eat the noodles” 🙄 There was very little remorse & we were given the impression the chef didn’t care his dish was not cooked properly. Will not be returning & will not recommend this place to anybody
Samantha
Received my meal (dry curry egg noodles with curry chicken) tonight. First thing I noticed when cutting into my chicken was it was RAW! After cutting open the other pieces I decided to call over a waitress to inform her. She took my plate, went to the chef and came back to offer me 10% off my bill??? I barely touched it and was totally put off? Why would I want to finish eating it? I tried arguing it but it was no use. 🙄 will not be going back 🤢

There was a simple error in writing the order code which in itself is flawed but they refused to replace the wrong drink. This restaurant is extremely overrated.

Good food but a little slow service being busy Friday evening. Would go again to try some different dishes.<br/><br/>A good place if one wants to try Malay cuisine.
Sumit
Mt Wellington PapaRich has the worst customer service and absolutely bland food. Terrible. Will never go there again. Go to Casablanca just next to it instead.
Leo Dilshan
Would never go back . I have been to papparich in city which I had a really good experience. However Sylvia park one disappointed me big time . Tried hainanese chicken rice which is marked as must try. I have tried hainan chicken more than 30 times . But these guys don’t even know how to make hainan . Very bland and it was chicken breast which is very dry . Apart from bland flavours , customer service was ridiculous. No manners at all! These people should get customer service training from 0. Papparich city 5/5 . Papparich Sylvia park 0/5

Ordered two types of noodles- delicious. Great variety on menu with lots of interesting drinks. Fast and efficient service with a buzzer on the table to call staff. Surprisingly expensive compared to other Malaysian restaurants but given the restaurant setting probably still worth it.
Lilly M. Jane
The place is actually really good. It’s totally worth the price. Overall it’s quite cheap. My family went there for a meal and ended up loving the place. There’s lots on the menu and isn’t overprice. The ingredients they used are fresh and always serve hot. Highly recommended. The customer service is quite good too. <br/>I would have given a 5 star rating but the air conditioner there makes me question the overall experience a bit. So just saying if you go there, you might want to have a jumper or another layer on just in cast.
FoodieAsh
A great place for lunch and dinner. The meal portions are good and the price isn’t so bad. Deep fried chicken skin was great as well as the main meal.

I'm Malaysian. When I stepped into the restaurant, I expected to be served by at least a few Malaysian staff. To my disappointment, almost 90% of the staff were from China. Needless to say, their service was anything but satisfactory. They looked very frustrated every time they were serving us and answered in a very rude and irritated kind of way. The food was halfway decent ( not as good as authentic local Malaysian food of course, it lacked heart and soul but good enough for a commercialised establishment ). Big portions are definitely a plus. However, I won't be coming back here due to poor service.

Yummy food (but it seems like they have added MSG in it - hope I'm wrong) <br/>Service can be a lot better otherwise I'd be happy to give them 5 rating. <br/>

Large restaurant with nice atmosphere, excellent service and a substantial menu, despite many items on the menu being in duplicate. Get there early if you can as they take no reservations. We got there at 5:30PM on a Wednesday and there was a line out the door shortly after we arrived.  Best dish: deep-fried chicken skins. Worst dish: Laksa. This was possibly the worst laksa we've ever had and we are not purists. There was no depth of flavor, no heat or spice, it just tasted like a warmed can of coconut milk with some noodles and dry chicken. Strange that any Malaysian restaurant could possibly get such a traditional dish so wrong. Husband was happy with his Dry Curry Egg Noodles with Curry Chicken and we both loved the lemon honey drink and the caramel sago pudding for dessert. Not sure if we'd go back again though. Honestly, if you're a Malaysian restaurant and can't do laksa right, might be time to have a closer look at the kitchen staff.

One of the best Nasi Lemak in NZ. Really love it.<br/>Service is good, and restaurant is really clean. Food safety is A.<br/>I definitely will come back.<br/>

Food and service both a bit average. Nothing terrible but nothing great. There were a lot of families dining with young kids. For the price of the meal there are other places I would choose to eat at. Would probably not go back.

I ate here with my girlfriend and 3 friends. My food was nice except for my girlfriend and 1 of my friends ordered the dry curry egg noodles with curry chicken, which gave them both FOOD POISONING. They both were reluctant to say they had diarrhoea for the entire day/night.<br/><br/>As in the reply below the likely culprit could be the chicken curry. So be cautious if your meal contains this.<br/><br/>I noticed other reviews else where with similar experiences.

Been here several times and never disappointed. Though there often be a really long lines but worth the wait. Food is really yummy with a reasonable prices for main course meal but desserts portion don’t worth it price but still tasty just too pricey. 4.5 star for the overall taste and some reasonable prices for the meal.

I have been here a handful of times and the food was great however this time was a disappointment. Ordered some kind of fried chicken and rice and what was brought out was just microwaved pre fried chicken. Inside the chicken wasn't even hot just warmed. Wasnt at all crispy like stated. <br/>Complained and was bought out a new 'fried chicken.' This time was hot but still tasted like the first. Dont know if ill be back in a flash.

Absolutely amazing! First time being here. Had a full restaurant which is always a good sign, had a great way to place orders so you weren’t being nagged by a waitress. Huge selection of meals. Well priced, and food was delicious! My partner is a chef and loved all the flavours in his meals! One of our new favourites. We will be back for sure!! Highly recommend

Glad it opened at Sylvia Park. Been loving this place for years and I am glad they opened here. The food is still yummy and great. I usually order drinks such as the Rose Drink or the Watermelon Drink. As for the food, I usually order the Beef Rendang with Biryani or the noodles with chicken curry. I FREAKING LOVE THIS PLACE!
Ashmina Kumar
To be honest 1st experience was good so went the second time. Second time they stuffed up our orders and when I asked for complimentary side that was declined. They said sorry but that didn't sound genuine sorry to me. Not going back.

If I can rate this restaurant zero, I will be very happy to rate it 0!<br/>Not to say the food taste is none of one similar to what we suppose to have in Malaysia.<br/>The staff were not friendly at all.<br/>I ordered a bowl of noodle soup, the lady who served it to me walked near me and spilled the hot soup to my skirt and leg.<br/>Not saying sorry to me and left after I said “it’s alright...”<br/>When I was starting to eat my noodle, I found a small piece of soaked paper in my noodle placing in the centre below the coriander!<br/>No no and no. No more next time to this restaurant!

4/5 Taste<br/>3.5/5 Display <br/>4/5 Quantity <br/>4/5 Customer Service <br/><br/>Asian restaurant with best service system.<br/><br/>Obviously there's always a line getting in here due to it's popularity, but this is sorted by providing tickets with numbers. <br/>Although the restaurant is packed, each table has its own bell you press for service + we dont have to waste time telling them what we want, we look at the menu and write down the numbers on ordering paper provided. <br/>This system helps with circulation, provides better quality of service, reduces number of workload for staff and to be honest the staff dont even need to speak to us. <br/>On top of all this their food is always amazing, rich in flavour and portion aint so bad. <br/>(Probably more pricey compared to other malay restaurants)<br/>
Jenny Kim
Ordering process is very efficient & food came out fast. The noodles tasted really good, but the egg was burnt slightly. The roti is only $9.90!! But tastes sooo good<br/>But overall, all 3 dishes were amazing.

Came here for lunch on a weekend. Had to wait for about 25 minutes. But part from the wait, the experience was quite enjoyable. The food is reasonably priced and tastes good. However, I did notice the proportion of noodles/rice in their dishes is noticeably higher than meat. Apart from that, I loved their noodles. The curry laksa is my favourite. I also enjoyed their white coffee with coffee jelly. I would definitely return to this place.

Asam laksa ,too many water.<br/>Wat tan hor, ok for me.<br/>Pan mee soup, nice taste.<br/>Other noodles not good.<br/>Iced kacang, not enough red bean.<br/>Watermelon juice look pale.<br/>Tea C special, we ask don't put iced, they say can not ,only can do less iced.<br/>We come 3 Mac 2018 again, my husband order pan mee, I order nasi lemak ,the chicken drum stick is too big, should be chop. Pappa Cham too bitter.<br/>21 April 2018<br/>Husband order papa fried rice noodles, only the noodles not his taste, <br/>I order Pan mee soup , very good.

Waited 45 mins for my food to arrive (while my partner almost finished his), no apology, just asked me to wait coz the kitchen's busy??? Rice noodles in soup is not anything that that's long to make ...

Very popular that we have to wait more than half an hour to get a seat. However, once seated the service was fast and efficient. Had the Pappa Special Nasi Goreng with fried chicken and I loved it. Been here a number of times and the quality of food never fails to deliver. Will definitely visit again but not during peak hours.
Miss M
Foodcourt style food in a restaurant style setting. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. Great flavors but very low value. Roti is delicious and so are the dips that come with it, the noodle dishes are disappointing unless you are prepared to load up on carbs and very little veges and meat. Average at best. This is a dry restaurant.
HelenMeng2000
I got the curry chicken with roti and it was delicious. It was 15.50 which is reasonable for the quality. The watermelon juice was fresh and complemented the main well. The restaurant is clean and quite modern. :)

Hooray for better dining options at Sylvia Park! New Zealand is finally catching up to the impressive range of cafes and restaurants you’d find in shopping malls overseas, and Papparich is the kind of choice that everyone can enjoy. The store at Sylvia Park signifies its second branch in New Zealand.
Sagar Dani
Really enjoyed the food, ambience and the service quality. It was to the core, good food and authentic and fresh chicken and roti. I liked the system of bell which is something innovative.<br/>Kuddos to all the team members and staff.<br/>Thankyouuu Chef as well, Keep it up.<br/>Regards,<br/>Sagar Dani.

Went to celebrate a family occasion for lunch on a sunday. Huge Que, no bookings taken, hence be prepared to wait for 20 minutes+.<br/>Staff are courteous, prompt and helpful. Food delicious, abundant, value for money and service is fast considering that the restaurant was super busy. The drinks and Entree arrived together as ordered, followed by mains. Great selection including for Vegetarians, our personal recommendation is the Laksha and the Vegetarian(mock meat or Chicken). All drinks were Fab, especially the Lychee Soda(must try).<br/>Prices reasonable for the place between $17 & $19 for mains. Total Spend for 6 people with entree, mains and drinks was under $200.<br/>Highly recommended, super satisfied, value for money. The menu is fancy with very high quality photos, depicting the dishes(mouth-watering)

Bad restaurant, we will not go back again. We waited for the table 10 mins. Ordered right away. One waiter came and told us if he can delay our order for 5 mins. What is that mean? Waited for another 30 mins. No food yet. So many tables who came later than us got food. Checked with a waitress, she said she will check. Didn’t come back. Checked with another one in 10 mins. She said they will need another 15 - 20 mins. Really. We walked out. Total time spent 1 hour hungry and without food. We will not come back for sure.

Ahh Pappa Rich, I will always find a way back here for a meal. What I liked about this restaurant was how generous they were with their meal portions - although their other restaurants generally have good portions this one was that extra bit more. Service was efficient and everyone worked hard to get people seated. Although a full house, I didn’t have to wait long for my meal.
Zhangnan
Great place overall. Liked nasi lemak and roti canai.Really delicious Malaysian dishes . Will definitively go again soon. Service is only so so, but the dishes offset that.
Edelyn Rose
I walked in and I was served straight away to the table which was very good. And the food came out nice and hot, came in about 5-7 minutes so it was pretty fast, I was very happy. The waitress serving me was very nice and happy to bring me water and takeaway boxes.
Queena
I love Pappa Rich on Queen St! I wanted to see if the flavours were the same here. <br/><br/>This branch was bigger in comparison but it seemed quite crammed at the same time. To be honest I think the Queen St branch is a lot better. Just the flavours on the dish I normally order tasted better at the other branch. But it wasn't bad here. I'd definitely still come back for dinner!
Whitli552
The restaurant in CBD is really good, I kind of expecting same quality for Sylvia park's as well. However, I am disappointed from service to food quality. I think I won't come back again.
Roger DD
First time here after reading all the reviews, food was good except the veggies are quite pricey and service was efficient too. Will definitely come back again soon.
Sophia Bouladam
Finally got to try the food at Papparich after several months of them opening, and constantly seeing customers queuing outside their restaurant. To be completely honest, I was expecting the food to be top notch especially with all the hype. But in my opinion, I thought the food was well below average. I had the Ayam (chicken) Curry Laksa, my fiancé had the Nasi Lemak Chicken Curry - safe to say we won't be coming back anytime in the near future. Definitely overpriced for the low quality of the food. Would rather go to Wagamama instead and pay the same amount, but actually get served appetising food!
Dan Pedersen
We don't really have too much positive to say about this experience. Let's break it down;<br/> - Staff service was blunt, bordering on rude<br/> - We ordered a dish each, one was brought out at least 10 minutes before the other, meaning half of it was cold before the other dish arrived. One of us ordered the roti chicken curry and to be frank, the roti was a shredded mess, the curry portion tiny. The only saving grace was it didn't taste half bad. Having travelled extensively through Asia and eaten authentic Asian food we fou d these meals a real let down.<br/> - The price paid would be considered excessive for the food ordered and the service received. We've had better service at fast food outlets, and to be honest, we've probably been more satisfied with fast food in the past as well.<br/>Overall a pretty poor performamce and one we're not likely to revisit.
G
Great vibes at a mall, not too long of a wait for a table as we were early. Pretty fast service and the food was really good too! Tried the nasi lemak, chicken laksa and the chicken rice. Nothing I can fault with, would be keen to come again to try other things.
Joey Faaui
This was my first try at Papa Rich. I was impressed at the layout of the business and even the friendly service. I ordered the Nasi goreng dish and Melon drink. Was very impressed at the taste and presentation. Highly recommended.

I've had mixed experiences with the city restaurant but I was still excited when our friends wanted to dine here as there are a lot of poor food options at Sylvia Park.<br/><br/>We were seated quickly and told how ordering works. The menus were confusing as some had "coming soon" stickers over some dishes while other menus didn't.<br/><br/>We managed to order without running into any difficulties. The food and drinks come out in a random order. Everyone was happy with their dishes but some pieces of the crispy chicken skin wasn't very crispy.<br/><br/>The prices are really reasonable and you get a lot of food. The restaurant is fitted out nicely so it does not feel like you are dining in a cheap restaurant. As we left there was a huge queue so luckily we were there early.
Lucille Sia
Always a fan of papparich..love their way of ordering things. Good menu selection and most of the dishes we have tried are delicious. Always busy on a weekend and dinner times but we find that service is prompt on most times. So glad they have opened an outlet in sylvia park.
Lia Yosaatmadja
A new branch of papa rich in Sylvia park. They seem have slightly different menu to the city branch, although you can still get the same staple Malaysian fair. <br/><br/>We went there for lunch, and the place was packed full of people. The service was a little slow, but it was still pretty good. We ordered the laksa, pan mee soup and the fried chicken skins, they were delicious! I still can’t get over their crispy chicken skin!! As usual their portions are very generous! <br/><br/>Great place when you crave for Malaysian food in Sylvia park.
JJ Jenkins
Ive been wanting to go to Papparich for some time and finally went to the Sylvia Park one. I had ordered the roti canai with curry chicken, fried chicken skins and cans of root beer, all which we enjoyed and was delicious. The interior/seating was very nice and the staff was friendly. Would go again to try other items on the menu.
Koyal Lal
Food is very filling and served in decent portions. Drinks are amazing, the mango ones are the best! 10/10, I definitely recommend the mango drinks!

This is the franchise Malaysian restaurant straight from Malaysia so you know its authentic. But not as good as the Downtown one. You do get to eat. Few things you may not get in other Malaysian restaurant and does makes you feel like you are in Malaysia/Asia. Highly recommend, Fried Chicken Skin. Not healthy but super delicious.

Why on earth did it take us so long to get to PR. The food is tasty & fresh, the rest. is clean & bright & service friendly & efficient. We had the Roti Canal w. curry chicken & Biryani Rice w. red chicken & sambal Prawns. My only wish was for some more slices of cucumber. Another great & easy thing is they way you order. There's no pressure w. someone standing above you & heading back soon now we know where it is!
Alas
Got to get in here early as gets quite busy at lunch. Food is OK nowadays.. Nice environment. Sad to see ice kacang gone. Crispy noodle dish was is OK, not how they used to be. . Its a pity its in such a busy place like Sylvia Park so parking is never easy. Food is about 17 and up, each person. Drinks are good variety.
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Food is good as all other papparich. Service was okay, we had to ask for water, paper towel and sometimes takes a long time for food to arrive. Great variety of drink choices and great for small to large groups.

I've been here a few times but i'm going to base this on my recent experience. The desserts are the bomb! Love, love, love!<br/><br/>Had the Lychee Glass Jelly, the Banana fritters and the Sago Pudding. Great desserts for Summer!<br/><br/>The staff were even so accommodating to let us have dessert (even after the kitchen had closed).
Jason Mitchell
Reasonably new restaurant in Sylvia Park. Been a couple of times now and love the efficiency as well as the food. <br/>Food is great quality with good sized portions delivered quickly. Queues literally out the door to get in so get in early.

We have been on a Malaysian cuisine ride for the last couple of weeks and ended up at PapaRich after finishing shopping at Sylvia Park.<br/><br/>The wait time of 20 minutes was not boring as we could window shop in that time. I love the smart ordering system here using a paper sheet and a buzzer to place your order. <br/><br/>Deciding from the menu is a difficult job as everything seems tasty and reasonable. The drinks selection is epic and you can’t ask for more variety. We had roti canal with chicken curry, veggie biriyani with some mutton like tasting (soya) chunks and a noodle dish with chicken curry. <br/><br/>Watermelon juice and the mango milkshake went really well with the food. <br/><br/>Despite the place being super busy we were served in time and the food was amazing. The staff were kind of rushing but that’s understandable when you have a queue of people waiting to find a seat. <br/><br/>Overall a great experience and we will be back here again. I found this outlet better than the one in the city.
Juanita Matila
Wasn't actually as nice as I was hoping. Staff were good so no complaints on service, however my Chicken Laksa was bland and not as tasty as traditional Malay cuisine. It also came out just warm, not hot temperature wise. My friends meals were also just as average. All in all a little disappointing. Unfortunately not sure what all the hype is about this place and wouldn't be tempted to go again 😕
Kevin Wong
Came here late afternoon in the weekend. Place must have been crazy busy as there a lot of tables yet to be cleared of dirty dishes. We ordered open seasme and milk pudding + grass jelly to drink, which were fine. Chicken roti and chips lol. My partner was craving chips and there alright. The roti wasnt best I've had from a paparich and the curry was ave.
T Singh
Very below average food, highly disappointing, no flavour and overpriced menu<br/><br/>No real taste of malaysian cuisine at all<br/><br/>Very long wait to be seated as well, had to wait 45 minutes just to be seated <br/><br/><br/>Not a great atmosphere to dine at <br/><br/>Save your money and disappointment by not eating here

Came here because of the rave reviews. Roti canai super good, curry portion size just a bit too small. Sesame ice cream is great. There is always a waiting line but will come back again

Next to movie and comes very handy. Large sitting space and very cosy. Food is great just like their other branch. Service is excellent which matters to me more than food at times. Would recommend

I've been to PappaRich Sylvia Park twice since its opening. The wait is a little long (about 30 minutes for the second time we went) but that is expected for new restaurants. The seating is quite cosy and nice. I ordered the chicken laksa the first time and I enjoyed it very much, I would recommend this. The second time I went, I tried the prawn mee and the taste of prawn was very strong in the soup, I enjoyed it. I would recommend this place but do go a bit earlier because there will be wait time.
Anjali Gupta
First time at this Malaysian place, loved every aspect of it. Nice ambience, finger licking food, very quick service, less than 10 min of wait time for food. Highly recommended! <br/>This will definitely be one of my regular go to places from now.
Umamimochi
Damn this place is good!! Undoubtedly one of the best Malaysian cuisines I have tried.  The ordering system is very efficient -  I really like the idea of the buzzer thing. They do lose points for customer service. The waitresses always seem to be in a hurry, and they keep forgetting to get things that we ask for e.g. serviettes, water, etc. It's minor but still an annoyance.
Benz Chan
I dined here out of curiosity as people were queued up outside to get seated. I came out satisfied and full right to the esophagus!<br/><br/>I tried their seafood laksa, one of my all-time fave dishes. The roasted eggplant was a surprise addition to this dish. I must say it worked wonders to improve the already flavorful soup.<br/><br/>My wife tried their Pappa Special nasi lemak with curry chicken and sambal prawns. She loved the generous portion of chicken rice and the mild spice of boneless chicken curry. She also thought that the salty anchovies were a great balancer to the taste of others on the dish.<br/><br/>We also had deep fried chicken skin on the side. Some pieces were a bit chewy, and I thought vinegar with chopped onions and pepper would have been a better dip to it rather than sweet chilli sauce.<br/><br/>The cold beverages were not too bad either.<br/><br/>Staff were okay. Some were more cheerful than others, but all were attentive to the customer needs.<br/><br/>Dining area is quite spacious. Ambience is good but I couldn't see a tad bit of Malaysian in its decor.<br/><br/>Price was leaning towards pricey. But for the great gustatory pleasure we had, it was worth every buck.<br/><br/>
LilMiss Foodie
We enjoyed a good night here. Good ambience with an amazing choice of music. It feels like you are dining in a hotel- very clean and well maintains. High quality laksa. There's still a lot of "coming soon" on their menu, you will see that on every page. Hopefully they update the menu ASAP as we are keen to try most.<br/><br/>Food only took about 15mins, even though the place was packed. You have to write down your order, I guess that's how their system works but it is effective. Thanks for a good dine
Miss Kiki
This branch is pretty busy on weekends, so be prepared to wait for a table during lunch time.<br/>Once you are ready to order you mark it on a piece of paper and ring the bell for wait staff to collect.<br/>We ordered a range of dishes from the crispy chicken skin to nasi lemak and roti canai with beef rendang and chicken curry.<br/>Food was good, I would like to try a noodle dish next time. The roti was a standout so light, fluffy and crispy on the outside. <br/>If you are hard of hearing then this place might not be the best location to go as a group - the acoustics in there are terrible!

The meal was full of flavour, came out at a reasonable pace. Good selection of drinks. Since it's a new resturant, many of the dishes on the menu wasn't available. I was there especially for the satay chicken, but unfortunately they don't have it yet (although it is on the menu).

Beautiful Malaysian restaurant.i already been to city branch and wanted to try food in this branch.<br/>Interior is dope. Seating area is big.furthermore,Customer service is friendly.<br/>Chicken curry laksa is very delicious but I didn't like egg plant inside it.My friend love biryani with chicken leg & prawns.however,we had to ask for water.<br/>[Suggestion :water should be given to customer as they arrive.]<br/>WIFI: NO <br/>FOOD : 4/5 <br/>CUSTOMER SERVICE:3.5/5<br/>INTERIOR:4/5

A spontaneous decision to eat here after a long day at work turned out to be the best decision! We had the C02 Roti Canai and curry chicken with extra roti, raita and the PD02 Mango Mania (ice blended) and it was absolutely delicious. Hit the spot in every way, perfect level of spice, the roti was heavenly and the raita was beautiful. Washed down with the mango mania was the perfect end to a 10/10 meal. Fast service (great ordering system) and friendly accomodating staff! Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend.

My partner and I have been meaning to try Paparich for a while now, as we enjoyed both our experiences in Melbourne and Malaysia. Reminding us of our travels, there was the standard crowd of people hovering around the entrance. At 7pm on a Saturday night we expected a short wait for a table and were advised it would be about 20 minutes. Once seated we browsed through the menu, wrote down our dishes on the order sheet provided and pressed the buzzer. It’s a nice little system they have in place, and a waitress was already on her way to collect our order.<br/> <br/>We ordered the Vegetarian Fried Mee hoon with curry mutton and egg, roti canai and the Fried Kuay Teow. Considering how busy the wait wasn’t too long for the food to arrive, however there could be improvement with the serving order/timing of the dishes. The Roti came out first then 10 minutes later the curry… then another short wait for the Fried Kuay Teow. We would have preferred everything together especially the curry and the roti as traditionally you’d want to eat these together. The curry was very good with heaps of flavour, it was a great meatless option and I’d recommend this dish for vegetarians. The Kuay Teow was smaller in size and less appealing than the curry. The dish was good and there was a nice subtle smoky flavour. It could have done with more protein or even vegies though, as there wasn’t a lot of tofu in the dish.<br/> <br/>Papa rich is a nice casual spot that is worth checking out if your in the area. As it's local to us we'll be sure to visit again soon!
Stephy_NakiGirl
Enjoyed this restaurant more than the original location in the city. Food seemed nicer & the restaurant clean, fresh & new.<br/>Service was okay, quite efficient. Our food was brought out promptly & was made really well.<br/>Only disappointment was that they were out of drinks like Coke, & weren't yet offering a number of dishes such as the satay & some of the vegetables etc... not sure why. <br/>Will definitely visit again soon
Blackpearl
Love their decor and food was delicious and quick! Ordered their wat tan hor, chicken rice and milo dinosaur. Gravy in wat tan hor was tasty, chicken rice was yum, they fulfilled my request of removing the skin, which was a big plus, and milo dinosaur was heavenly. I did not know why the milo tasted so much better than the one sold in supermarket :) Service was quick and attentive and we left feeling full and happy.
Grace
Nice and yum food, service needs to improve, no smile, not friendly, food is really good. Ordered curry chicken with Nann, and redang beef, haven't finished. Recommended, but please improve your service, I can understand you are really busy. <br/>
Marggie Pascua
Lalalalalove paparich. Their slushies are the best and the chicken fried skin. I know that's not so healthy but it is a must have. Always get the chicken with the prawns because that's the best for my taste buds. Saw that they're getting BBQs in their menu soon and I'm excited for that.<br/><br/>Update: I went here for dinner last night after the movie. It was good because we didn’t have to wait long and got seated straight away. The food is good as always. Brought my date here and it was his first time trying it and he really enjoyed it. We both felt really full after and the food is so yum! Plus the drinks are so good. I got the Lychee with Mango shake. It was great.
Chris Russell
I went there few time in last 3 month, chicken legs, beef curry and milk tea really nice, but may too slow for lunch time people, maybe try dinner next time
Ravi
They have a good customer service despite waiting for the table and pressing the buzzer 2-3 times before any staff come to you. That being said the atmosphere is wonderful. Their food is of high quality.
I Eat Out
they serve nice food here but are super busy here so service was abit slack but understandable for how busy they were. they also have a good variety on the menu. will be back to try more!!!!

I cannot tell you how happy I am with the service here! Thank you to our lovely waitress Leo and all the friendly staff. After reading some negative views from other foodies about the bad customer service, I had to go see for myself, I was expecting the worst, but to my surprise, everyone was lovely and the food was reaaalllyyy great. To top of all off, me and my partner were vegetarian and their mock meat was amazing! Their fried banana was definitely really yummm and their mango drink made my night. Amazing atmosphere, staff and food. I can't fault this. PRO TIP: Go on a Tuesday night! Not too busy so NO WAITING TIME. We sat down in literally 45 seconds from entering the door!!! Thanks Leo!!!!
Andy
Awesome service and best food. Went at a very busy time but got looked after straight away without any delay. Very professional service and pure international standard. Plenty of staff and service with a smile. Food takes you to south east Asia and absolutely best taste with no compromise in quality. Well done and welcome to NZ

notice a crowd of diners outside a restaurant<br/>call PapaRich and as we had tea elsewhere we decided to drop by for some dessert after the movie. I had the sago pudding which was sweet as, my other diners had the ice lime cocktail n egg sago.<br/>Nicely presented menu too, a lot of dishes had a tag saying coming soon, maybe sold out? gonna havta try their mains later. Starting to notice a lot of Malaysian eateries opening up too. Nice brite ambience, staff and ordering system in place too, so u have all the time in the world to decide.<br/>Anyone knows what the site use to be before?
Ashleigh Michelle
I really enjoyed the service here. Staff were friendly and professional. The modern design is really nice aswell and you can see why it gets so busy here. The only thing that let it down for me was that the food was quite bland. I had the char kiew tau and it didn't have any flavour or spices at all. It seems like Pappa Rich is really catering to the kiwi market but seems to be losing the authentic flavours. I did have a Rose flavour Soy milk drink and that tasted devine. It would be great if they had a selection of milk tea flavours!

Bad Bad service I've never had !!!<br/>We went there on Sunday and it can be understand that there had a long queue. But, the man who supposed to be arranged those people who waiting there just walking around without doing his job. We waiting there ten minutes and no one give us "queue number". I called waitress at least three times and still no one come. We already have a long queue with at least 20 people around. And finally I got queue number after I run the ring several times. And that man, only give us a number and left again. <br/><br/>Bad survive !!!

I was glad to find that PappaRich had opened a new branch at Sylvia Park as I was craving a Laksa. I have tried their branches at Sky City Metro & Langkawi, Malaysia & enjoyed the service & food at each of them. I visited the restaurant on a Friday & it was full with a shot queue waiting. They need more seating for those waiting. They also need more space for parking prams. They had at least six prams in the waiting area. I was seated within 15 minutes. I promptly ordered the curry chicken laksa $16.50 & deep fried chicken skin $9.90 & coke $4.90. The deep fried chicken skin arrived promptly and enough for 2 to share, however they don't serve enough sauce with it. The coke then arrived (330ml bottle). I have to say $4.90 is way too expensive. The laksa then arrived shortly thereafter. Their laksa differs from others in that it includes egg plant instead of the usual hard boiled egg. As usual the laksa didn't disappoint but the price is more expensive than offered by its competitors. The service was fine & the ambiance is consistent with the other branches. Finally, parking is a breeze as it's in the mall.

Their service is really bad! I ordered a takeaway hot dessert (tofu jelly), and I waited for 25 minutes! When I approached the waitress and asked for it , it was just at the counter, they didn't even call my number. The hot dessert has become cold. Don't waste your time and money! Not worth it!
Cole
Went there for dinner on a Thursday night there was one lady who was working there she was really rude I didn't get her name but the service was not good at all the food was alright not great waited over 40mins for food.
Bobby Anderson
It was an underwhelming experience after waiting 15mins in a cramped waiting area to be seated. I had a crispy noodle dish and I say to you... where are the toppings??

Love it. The Nasi Lemak was delicious and great Malaysian food. Fried chicken skin also highly recommended. We went for an early lunch so service was fast and great.

Been here a few times after a day of shopping at the mall. the food are generously portioned and tasty.<br/>But.... the service is a hit & miss!<br/><br/>Today we drew the short straw. Again. Went there for lunch just the two of us. Ordered two mains. 1st dish came out & waited for 15mins for mine to come out. My partner had to start eating without me otherwise the wat tan hor would go cold. Had to ask waiter a few times to have them bring out the 2nd dish. By the time mine came out, my partner had almost finished. <br/>They said sorry because they were busy (hmm the place was only 3/4 full). Regardless busy or not, you would expect any restaurant to have their service sorted out so patrons on any one table would be served at the same time. <br/>If i wanted to eat by myself i would have come there alone, instead of with someone else. It was an interesting dining experience watching each other eat!!<br/>

It was an enjoyable experience trying out Paparich, as I dont have to travel as far now. the atmosphere, service and food was great. i ordered the vegetarian sweet and sour chicken and cold teh tarik, which were both really delicious. only complaint was that there was too much onion (at least half an onion minimum) in my dish. but other than that, me and my friend both had a great time having lunch there

There's room for improvement.<br/><br/>I went here with a friend, and we were seated promptly by staff. The waiter explained the process, and while there was a bit of a communication barrier, we understood how to order. <br/><br/>When looking through the menu however, it seemed that half the items were "coming soon!". Which is fine if you are big into your noodles, rice, bread, and fried foods, but tough luck if you're looking for something healthy. The only green / vegetable-y option was bean sprouts (which were admittedly delicious).<br/><br/>I chose the fried chicken biryani that came with (deep-fried) eggplant, prawns, and a giant pat of rice. The chicken was average, eggplant average, prawns delicious, and rice too bland. We also had to ask for water as it wasn't offered. I noted that as of the 4th of July it hadn't been awarded a food grade either.<br/><br/>The price was reasonable for what I got, and while I'm not thrilled, I'm not disappointed. It was an average experience.

Have been 4 times already. Found the food average. Most things I ordered were not hot except soup/laksa. Doesn't feel freshly made. There are a lot of interesting things on the menu that are "coming soon". Not sure why that is. Also be aware you can not use you entertainment book voucher at Sylvia park. Staff were friendly and prompt service.

It was yummy food and drinks! The order system lil odd and big sections of menu not available yet which is annoying! As would've liked to try some of the other dishes as so much variety. Can't wait to try more drinks n snacks

So glad another branch has opened here in Auckland!<br/><br/>Dined here for lunch and there was a long wait, be prepared! A very popular restaurant and sampling the food here I can definitely see why it's so busy!<br/><br/>We waited for roughly half an hour for a table for 4, staff were attentive despite being rushed off their feet. The restaurant is spacious and beautiful decorated. <br/><br/>We ordered a milk dinosaur and coconut smoothie for drinks.<br/><br/> Steamed buns with kaya and butter, the buns were soft and fluffy and went so deliciously well with the kaya and butter. <br/><br/>Ipoh koay teow soup with prawns and chicken slices has a beautiful broth that was a heavenly blend of prawns head and chicken. Really unique, highly recommend! The Wan tan hor was really good as well, these three dishes were definitely the highlights!<br/><br/>The Hainanese steamed chicken with noodles was okay, noodles were a little bland for me. And the Tandori roti was made well but a small portion in comparison to the other dishes. . For the same price to the other dishes . . I'd expect a little more.<br/><br/>But other than that, overall the food is really good! For a busy restaurant you'd worry that they'd push out food too quickly and fall flat in quality but pleasantly surprised! Definitely will be back for more and I must say I prefer this branch much more than the CBD.

Okay okay I'm just like all the other sheep. I came to Silvia Park just try out Papa Rich. It's good that it is on the same floor as the movie theatre and the toy shop.  I can park in the multi-story car park and walk around on the 1st  floor without getting caught in the foot traffic at ground level or getting wet in the uncovered parking areas.  Papa riches is venue is fresh, sharp and cool looking, a bit like Garrison's but with no outside seating, loud music or alcohol? The staff here were pretty enthusiastic and keen to put on a good show. Well done on this and keep it up. We did have to wait 15mins but that was okay. It gave me time to check out what was on at the movies while my entourage waited in line at Papa'sI had the Nasi Lemak curry chicken. This is one of my baselines for comparing Malaysian restaurants. It was boneless chicken with good flavor and decent portions. along with the sambal, peanuts and anchovies. Wifey had the Assam Laksa, which she rated highly, Slavegirl went with the banana split. she enjoyed hers but would have liked the rotten bits of banana cut out.The food we had was very good and seeing the dishes coming out and taken to other tables was very seductive. Most people  saw seemed to be enjoying their meals and it was nice to see part of the Muslim community relaxed, laughing, chatting and enjoying a slice of their traditional foods in Auckland..

Been wanting to try the Sylvia Park branch since it opened. Just as good as the Queen Street branch and love the location. <br/><br/>Very busy at 6-7.30pm so joined the queue, given a raffle ticket and waited about 15 min for a table for 2. Open set up, casual dining, comfortable seats. <br/><br/>Got the Ipoh Kaoy Teow soup with chicken and prawn Noodles. Lucky to have the pictures in menu otherwise would not have had a clue what to choose: Soup is similar to Hansan SO2 with more fried shallot/garlic and a bit thicker where u can taste the prawnhead stock. Good size serving of noodles and tasty (possibly has MSG). Wish the chicken skins came in a small size option as a side as my friend and I decided not to order between is on top our mains.<br/><br/>Ordered the lycee soda and found it yummy but too sweet and ended up diluting with 1/3 cup water as quite syrupy. <br/><br/>Items are expensive in comparison to similar Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

PappaRich has newly opened a restaurant beside the movie theatre, on level one overlooking the courtyard area.<br/><br/>Like the other place it was busy so we did have to wait a bit before getting a table. The menu is slightly different but the main options looked similar like the wat tan hor and char kwei tieu. They also have a few different drinks like the coconut shake.<br/><br/>Ordering is the same where you write your options on the order slip and pass it to the staff.<br/><br/>The food is as good as the city one. However when we went, my brothers meal took 30 minutes longer then everyone elses. Once they noticed we were missing a meal they did rush to get it out and we did get a discount at the end. Otherwise everything was quite good.

Disclosure: Invited to the Media Launch of Papparich Sylvia Park to sample these dishes for honest review. Papparich is affordable and has a few dishes that it does particularly well. I especially recommend their crispy noodles and fried chicken skins. For more, read the full review on my blog.

Delicious food and exceptional service despite a full house. Friendly staff who were able to help with the menu and pick out their favourite Malaysian dishes!

A lunch at PappaRich which opened in June. Reviews at Zomato have not been encouraging, especially in ordering food.  Fortunately, we didn't have any problem; though I saw some customers do wait quite a while before being approached. <br/>Deep fried chicken skin was interesting but rather salty. I had curry seafood Laksa & my wife had Nasi Lemak. MSG seemed obvious. Teh Tarik (milk tea) & Kopi Cham Milo (coffee & Milo) were not hot enough. (Food – 3/5; Service – 3/5; Ambience – 4/5)

Packed of people, had to wait for more than 30 minutes just to get the seat. We came as a group of 12 people. My friend complaint on how they arranged the seat queue. Did order the mantau with kaya, paparich fried noodle (the only noodle that close enough to mamak style noodle) and red bean blended. All nice and tasty. New outlet, large resto, upstairs. Recommended.

Omg so good! Excellent food, staff and venue! Didn't have to wait for a table which was lucky as newly opened and very busy. We could see though that those that had to wait were seated quickly. Menu very descriptive with photos. All vegetarian items easy to find. Loved ordering system with bell. Food came quickly and was hot. Food was AMAZING. Such an awesome place.

Beautiful interior, beautiful atmosphere and great service. The system this place uses to take orders is really efficient..i like the fact that you can use the button to buzz when you've written what you want on the card provided.<br/>The food here is average, nothing great. Maybe because I ordered wrong things though. The crispy chicken skin however is to die for ! I definitely reccomened it. So delicious<br/>Will visit this place again to try out some more of their dishes.

I don't usually leave bad reviews. But this place is absolutely terrible! We've had papparich in melbourne and Sydney and it was a wonderful experience. We were excited to try the Sylvia park branch. Unfortunately, the green tea my wife got was full of food colouring!! Which made her mouth turn green! Do Not let your children drink this!! The chicken skin was full of unplucked hair! Would never eat there again and wouldn't recommend any of my friends. Total disappointment at the least.

Service is very very poor. Staff rushed our ordering and then took ages to bring our dishes to us. They didn't bring all our food at the same time. Waited over 25 minutes after the first dish was brought to us for our 3 other dishes to come. Which would have been okay but they were for my little sisters aged 3, 5, 9 who had to wait while everyone else had their food.<br/>Also some of the food combinations were not appealing. Average on food.<br/>They also ran out of what we ordered but didn't tell us that until after we ordered and got charged for it. <br/>There is a lot of work to be done at this restaurant.

I actually like the interiors and location of this newly opened restaurant at Sylvia Park. We dined in yesterday just before the ques started to build up. Busy busy atmosphere and I like the idea of writing down orders and pushing a button to order.<br/>I ordered seafood laksa and it is a good serving. Like the taste and spiciness of it and my friend ordered the Tandoori Chicken with rice. So they ran out of Coke or Sprite? Odd for a restaurant not to have the fizzies. As it is my first time, I would love to come back to try their milk teas and noodles next time...must try at Sylvia.

Worst service ever. <br/><br/>1. We waited 40 mins to get a seat (the wait time was meant to be 20 mins). They forgot about us and we had to hassle them to get us a seat. <br/>2. Half the menu was labelled unavailable. It was strange because you could order chicken rice, but you couldn't order chicken by itself. There are veggies as side dishes, but you cannot order a whole veggie dish by itself. <br/>3. After choosing out of the limited items, we were then informed the Roti Canai had been sold out so we chose another Roti. Then another staff member came to tell us ALL the roti was sold out. (It was only 7:30pm which is normal dinner time)<br/>4. Some of the water cups were oily<br/>5. We received some dishes relatively fast, and then waited 40 mins before we asked about one last remaining dish. Apparently our dish got sent to the wrong table and then sent back to the kitchen, but they didn't realise we didn't get our food. <br/><br/>Only plus: At least the food tasted pretty good. However the kopi was slightly watered down and the soup was WAY too salty.<br/><br/>Overall had a very bad experience but we got given some compensation for it so at least that was nice of them.

Efficient service, chicken was moist and tender, decent amount of rice to go around. My children devoured the roti. Tables were clean, bathrooms were maintained. Would come here again.

We were excited to go to paparich - I went to the city store quite a few times and really loved it. But then mt Wellington store was rather a disappointment.<br/><br/>First they said they had no soft drinks available as they had issue with delivery, then my friend was told that they weren't making rendang today and had to change the order again. <br/><br/>I accidentally ordered a different drink so I asked them if I could order a soy milk on the top. The waiting staff didn't have a very good communication skill, and the manager ended up coming out to ask if there was anything wrong. And all I wanted was a soy milk on top.<br/><br/>The food was a bit on the average side. I had egg noodle with steamed chicken, but it's probably the least tastiest I had from them so far, it seemed to be missing some saltiness something. I took a bite out of my friends char kwey teo, but that was also underwhelming too. Not much flavour to it.<br/><br/>I hope the quality will increase when the staff are better trained.

I personally don't rate this place much, I've now been to both the city branch and Sylvia Park branch and was really disappointed with the service at Sylvia park tonight.<br/><br/>Firstly the ordering system is a cool idea but it needs to work efficiently. We rung the bell once, waited and after over 5 minutes we rung again... still no one came, we literally had to keep ringing the bell till finally someone came and took our order and the bell rings for everyone in the restaurant to hear ?? So strange and annoying. <br/><br/>I got the haianese chicken which was good but the chicken soup was bright yellow and extremely salty!! I had one sip and couldn't have anymore... <br/><br/>My friend said the roti served with curry and dipping sauces wasn't the best she's had. I tried some of the roti and it was sweet? They obviously add sweetener or sugar to it, I prefer my roti with no added sugar.. <br/><br/>We then asked for the banana split for desert and they ran out of bananas and the service overall was just bad. We asked a waiter how the bell system works because we kept having to ring the bell to order desert again and no one came... and he had nothing to say to us, he just said he doesn't know how it works?! <br/><br/>The only thing I like about this place is that it reminds me of Singapore and you can get authentic dishes like kaya toast, but for $16/19 a meal... there are much cheaper and authentic Malaysian places around. <br/><br/>

This place definitely lives up to the hype. Went here for the first time, for dinner, and felt like I was back in Malaysia. The food came out promptly and tasted amazing. This place will be one of my go to restaurants from now on.

After not having the best experience at the Queen Street franchise, I did not think I would try this place again. However the newly opened branch in Sylvia Park looked so flashy and clean, that we decided to give it another go.<br/><br/>Came here with a big group of 9 people. Despite the place being full already, they were able to put together a table for us in a short amount of time, which we were grateful for :)<br/><br/>Everything on the menu looked mouthwatering. Also came with clear pictures which made it easier to make decisions if you are not familiar with Malaysian food. I liked their ordering system - where you write down what you would like, and press the button for the waiter when you are ready. Very fun and efficient.<br/><br/>Food came promptly. The drinks were not only beautiful but also very tasty! I enjoyed my red bean milk shake, and husband could not stop raving about his sesame milk shake (which came with a big scoop of sesame ice cream). Other friends had the mango mania, rose water......which they were all happy with. The fried chicken skin with sweet chilli sauce was also a crowd pleaser. <br/><br/>For mains I had the chicken curry with sambal prawns. It was delicious, with a nice heat to it. It was the perfect combination with the creamy flavours of the coconut rice. One of my friend who grew up in Malaysia also said the noodles were good. The serving sizes were huge that a few of us had to take away for lunch the next day :p<br/><br/>The staffs were well-trained, which was impressive considering that the place only just opened. The only disappointing thing was that a lot of the items we wanted to order were still unavailable :( <br/><br/>All in all we had a great experience here, and would totally come back again with friends.

I love all the food and drink I tried today, just except Deep Fried Chicken Skin :( The chicken skin was toooooo salty :( but overall, good food, great service, excellent eating atmosphere. I will definitely go back there try something different.
Chicken Wing
Great atmosphere, quite nice interior design and location is good. Service was average, a few seemed like they had no idea what they were doing and one asked to clear my plate when there was still quite a bit of food and I clearly hadn't finished. They all spoke quite fob English. <br/><br/>I ordered a chicken rice which came with bean sprouts and a soup. The chicken was really really tender and delicious and the rice had a really nice flavour to it (not sure how to describe it but it wasn't bland like at most Asian restaurants). The soup/broth was also quite nice and thankfully it was hot enough (the worst thing is drinking lukewarm soup)! I also got to try the curry chicken roti which was also quite nice but there was nothing much special about it. <br/><br/>Overall great place, great food, the service isn't terrible but don't expect too much of them, the only thing is that it's a little bit expensive, although it is quite filling. I would definitely recommend going at least once and I probably will be going back.
