We visited Mexi Mama for a family dinner with our 2 year old. We we warmly greeted by James and he hooked us up with a child seat instantly. The waitress also gave us colouring-in stuff without promoting = great proactive service.
We were comfortably seated in a Mexican style booth with lots of room and fun cushions.
We ordered the Taco Tuesday special and were delighted with all the dishes served. The corn bread was just the right amount of moist, packed with nice flavour. The prawn tacos were a taste explosion and the chicken ones were A-grade Mexican fare, with a little local infusion. We really enjoyed everything.
The place itself was stylish and buzzing. The music was at the perfect volume and the food came out quickly. A top dining experience from start to finish.

Just spent taco Tuesday here for dinner. Food was amazing, chicken taco was delicious and the fried chicken was so good got a second serving. Atmosphere was great and the service, our waiter was down for some good old banter :). Will be returning for sure.

I'm a fussy eater so I examined the menu before arriving and decided to go with the potato and leek tacos. They were AMAZING! We all enjoyed our meals and had great service through out the night. I was so full I didn't even have room for dessert (very rare). Was a great night out, lots of laughs. Will definitely be back

Really cool environment, amazing & genuine service. You can tell that they love working there. It's only small but I didn't want sour cream on my nachos, and before the food was served I was asked if I wanted an aioli drizzle instead, just thought it was nice as most places wouldn't even bother. Great first time there and I'll be back š

Just celebrated a 50th birthday at this awesome restaurant. They had a seperate area that was perfect for our crowd of 20. Jamie put together a perfect menu for us - which was amazing! The venue is great, the service was fantastic and the food delicious. I would highly recommend this great place - thanks Jamie and team :-)

What impressed us first with the cool and quirky place was the service, as in when we stopped to look at the menu at the door the waiter opened the door and asked us if we would like to come in. This is a quiet time of the year so we just turned up. The staff were quick to offer drinks & the menu. During winter you cannot get a Mojito as no mint was available???

Wait staff were friendly & attentive, nice cocktails & the fish tacos were a win. We waited a long time for our food but the wait staff were very apologetic. Chicken tacos & guacamole were a bit heavy on the lemon. Would definitely come back for taco Tuesday.

Had lunch here w friends the other day. Great service and great food, there was four of us and we shared the Hapuka wings, ceviche, and chicken wings. All very tasty! Then we had quesadilla's, and the octopus, a few beers and a couple of wines. Very tasty and great casual dining, w fun staff! Highly recommend.

We ate here tonight April 3 2018. My American husband has been looking for good Mexican food for 4 years now and we finally found it! The location is gorgeous, the food was delicious and they catered to my non spicy palette very well. The staff was wonderful especially the guy serving us and Iām not sure of his name but good looking and polite (James?) what a combo! We will def make a trip back from Wellington to eat here again. Quite smallish portions but do what we did, order more!! Yum yum yum!

Got a takeaway - awesome service. Food was really good - only complaint would be that the vege taco was kind of strange. But hey - still enjoyed and would definately recommend and come back. Fried Chicken is legit - wish there was more. Definately go.

Would be a five but the jug of Marguerita was very weak. More like limeade. Food and service were excellent. Great decor, very relaxed yet vibrant. Would visit again but not get the cocktail.

My son has a peanut allergy but these guys were wonderful with their responses to my questions and made us all feel so at ease with their food handling procedures. All staff were made aware and made for a great birthday meal. Thanks Mexi Mama!

The tacos were delicious! I tried the chicken and beef tacos and I couldn't decide which one I liked more. The guacamole was also very good but I wish it was either few dollars cheaper or the portion was a bit bigger.

Omg... Their nachos are the best in Napier. Value for money. Generous portion. Well presented. I am big eater and I was unable to finish it lol coz it was huge lol. I always go back when I feel like having a Mexican feed. Great vibes. Owner and staff is friendly too. Always look after the customers.

Set on the waterfront in Ahuriri with the sun going down this is an excellent place to be.
On entering you are given a warm invite by accommodating staff.
The decor is simplistic but there are signs and smells of Mexico, with Calypso Rose serenading you.
A candle on the table you fill warm and relaxed.
The cocktails are awesome, recommend the Cocoloco, However on finishing the glass was still half full ice
On request you can dine in private with Virgin Mary which is quirky.
Ordering the Quesidilla with smoked pork on the hot side , I was not disappointed.
The nachos is a full meal and excellent.
