Review Two Fat Lattes - Napier

We had breakfast here and it was delicious! Had the lambs fry and the eggs bene & they were great. Decent portions and good value. If you have the good fortune to eat here try the tea if you can - tasty, hot and more than enough for 2 for only $3.50!! Also do a mean soy latte.

Great value for money and decent portion sizes. Blackboard menu doesn't offer much, I'd would go for the lunch specials. Prices have increased but they are still great for what you get. Yummy filling lunches!

A great little spot! The tea was served in a super adorable pot, prices were very fair too. Big enough that you can find a spot to sit for a while, we also got a table near a power point. Wifi worked great!! Thanks for the lovely afternoon!

We ordered the big breakfast and hot cakes brekkies. By far the best brekkie meals we have had. The size of the meal was huge ( but we owned it like a boss!!!) and the food was DELICIOUS. The staff were upbeat, friendly, and efficient. Thanks guys great job. We will be back!!!

Hi folks the wife and I tried this place for the first time on Sunday 4th. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and was disappointed with them as the eggs where over cooked. BUT after telling the manager, who took the dish away saying that she will fix this problem. The manager returned with a second dish that made the wife extremely happy. Perfect was the words my wife said. As for the breakfast I ordered that was awesome. To the manager who took care of the small problem, you have won your cafe a couple as regular customers. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A PROBLEM IT WAS SORTED AND I WOULD SAY THAT YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE.

Lovely breakfast menu. Husband approved of the amount of bacon served and prices were very reasonable. I loved the creamy mushrooms. Coffee could have been a touch hotter.

They didn't object to us sharing 2 meals among 4 people. Great food, interesting table tops, pleasant staff.

Stopped in looking for a yogurt breakfast item - they did not have any such thing, but were able to put something together! They were quick, creative and helpful. Much appreciated!

Generally fine, but the outside tables are sandwiched between the sidewalk and parked cars. We had to move to allow a car to open its doors.

I really liked this cafe, great value for money spent. The pasta was nice! Iced coffee was delicious.

Had the pasta of the day, and fish and chips. Was really tasty. Also had a muffin which was well presented and soft and tasty.

Inexpensive great tasting food, great location in the centre of town. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is at a minimum.

What a great place for brunch. Lucky enough to get a table especially as their was entertainment outside for Art Deco weekend.

This place had the worst breakfast ive had since on holiday.. my partner ordered the big latte the steak was overcooked and the eggs along with being overcooked looked like 5yr had made them. I ordered the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I had atleast expected the salmon to be fresh but it wasnt also the eggs on mine were overcooked and smelt digusting the toast was rock hard and i had to chop it to try cut a piece. The staff maybe dont dark skin as the service was not nice to us but they seemed friendly to all other locals. I was so disappointed in the service as I have heard Napier is a friendly place. What a let down... definitely will never recommend this place to anyone. NZ is a open place welcoming all nationalities dont ruin it guys.... breakfast is the start of the day try to atleast make it a good day for all of us and not ruin it with disgusting food. Thanks to you guys I will have to make sure my lunch is good to make the rest of my day pleasant.

This may have been my worst meal to date. My partner and i went in to grab breakfast on my North Island road trip. The food was just terrible. The Big Latte breakfast with pouched eggs which i had. The steak was well over cooked, tough and chewy. The pouched eggs well more like boiled eggs to be precise. The hash cakes tasted as if they were cooked in fish oil with was uterly disgusting and may have been left in the oil for way to long. As for the staff my overall experience with them is a well below average. Guess this goes as my bad experience in my road trip journal.

Visited this place yesterday in Boxing day with my partner. Staff were nice even though they were very busy. Foods were just average. Ordered pancake and wedges. Both really tasted like the ingredients that we already know. When I visit cafes, I expect something different or more in both tastewise as well as plating presentationwise but it was just average. I would not say food was horrible and I would not say it was delicious. Not disappointed nor impressed with food. Only thing I was disappointed in was the iced coffee that was mild as I was drinking coffee flavoured cold water.

This was the second time that I have been to The Two Fat Lattes. First time I enjoyed my meal immensely. My husband found his okay. This time I was very disappointed. My husbands meal was very nice with lots of everything on his plate, which I had to eat some of, as my meal was disgusting. I ordered the pancakes, which when they came out were actually 3 hard pikelets, no taste at all, with 3 pottles. One of maple syrup, one of a white liquidy substance and one of a sort of jam. I asked for berries and cream. I actually tried one of the pikelets but just couldn't eat any more. Very disappointed, won't be going back.

Service was good but the food was awful. It really is bad please try the other two that are round the corner from there and you will be safe. Never coming back here.

I love 2 Fat Lattes!! The service is lovely, food is great and coffee inoffensive. Also, they open a Stupid O'Clock in the morning, so I can stop in for my fix on my way to work. :)

I had the crispy calamari and it was very well cooked, melted in the mouth and lived up to its name, beautiful crunch however the salad needed some sort of dressing but over all a great lunch spot :)

Very good food despite a bit boring decor. Great location. Decent coffee. Good value food. I would recommend people give it a try for the food alone.

Popped in here for a takeaway coffee and it was terrible. Despite just making it fresh, it was luke warm. Defiantly would not return. In saying that, the staff were friendly.

Coffee was quite good and service was prompt. I have also enjoyed the savoury muffin which had a nice look and was really yummy. The decorations and atmosphere were also nice and welcoming.

we had a bit of time to kill in town and we were a tad peckish so we went in to the café. we ordered 2 lovely looking little savoury cashew muffins . we were told they would bring us the food when it was ready. 5 mins passed ............10 mins passed..........so after more than 15 minutes we went to the counter to find out where our food was. we were disappointed to be told she had forgotten and when she turned around to re-start the microwave, I said we did not have any more time to wait and we would like our money back. not impressed, we won't be back

After looking at a few cafes we decided to go here for breakfast. Big mistake, the food took ages to come out and when it did it was very dissapointing. We wont be returning.

After a great night with my lovely wife and her family we decided to have a early breakfast and what a total anti-climax. If you into good coffee don't go there, it was like drinking coal yes people coal, burnt down to the last drop of water in the cup. I ordered omelette and my beloved had pancakes, well the chicken in omelette was rubbery and disgusting, just talking about it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The pancakes were dry and the berries that was served with it looked lick slop thrown in a bowl. Needless to say coffee was discarded and the meals were left to the homeless or the birds and I doubt if they were brave enough to take it.

Lets not even talk about the store itself mg get some life in your store or cafe or what ever you want to call it, but I will never be back there and yes, I will spread the word.

Very nice decor and atmosphere here, free Wi-Fi and the coffee and frittata were well done. There were enough good gluten free options which was a must for me. I've been disappointed with most other cafes I've been to recently but this one ticked all the boxes.

Some other nice touches were the delicious relishes you can help yourself to on a table as well as chilled water with lemon.

i ordered a quiche type meal from the display case and a roast veg salad, only to find that the salad was the exact match to my quiche minus the egg and cheese, the veges were a little on the big size and a little too crunchy for my liking, didn't enjoy it. the quiche itself was too hot on the outside and cold inside. was my first time there and not sure if will return.

33 years since our honeymoon stay in Napier & the 2 Fat Lattes Cafe made our day with a proper Eggs Beni & Great Coffee, something we can tell our friends about.
Thanks ladies.

Great service and great food. The decor and atmosphere is refreshing and welcoming. Caters for the littlies as well. I will definitely return and recommend to others.

The eggs benedict is the best!! Lovely real streaky bacon rather than the cheap nasty stuff most other cafes use, Beautiful light hollandiase sauce.. So reasonable priced and lovely home made chutneys..
2 Fat lattes has become my new favorite cafe, I'm always spoilt for choice and the food is always exceptional.. Home made donuts, cheesecake to die for, and lemon slice... Yummmmmmmmm

What a lovely cafe very friendly helpful staff. The cafe its self bright and fresh, large and open space with a nice breeze through the open doors. The food was great from the breakfast of eggs beni to the cabinet food. The lemon slice was to die for,and the coffee great too. Will be back for sure.

I understand they were under a lot of pressure during a busy period (the Mission Concert weekend) but it doesnt make up for poor quality and poor quantity... Mum enjoyed the coffee, but we ordered two eggs benedict with salmon, I asked for the hollandaise to be on the side. The eggs were watery, which made the bread soggy, and the hollandaise (what little there was of it) was separating and not very flavoursome. Also, the amount of salmon on the plate was dismal, and for the price of the meal I felt ripped off. However it was too busy and we already had to return the first meal - they brought us out eggs bene with bacon... Sorry 2 Fat Lattes, I hope you improve following reviews like mine :)

My Husband and I just enjoyed lunch/brunch at 2 Fat Lattes.

The food was excellent on all levels, the sauce accompanying the calamari was the best ever. Nice touch the homemade relish and beetroot.

We are coffee critics and the coffee was top notch.

We will definitely be going back to 2 Fat Lattes.

The lady at the counter kept her back to us while we waited at the counter. We would have walked out had it not been for our desire to give the place a chance. No Atmosphere and our 'hello' was not genuine at all. the decor is a clash between cheap milkshake bar slime green and an attempt at kiwiana.

The barista didn't even watch the automatic machine spit out our coffee which was spoilt and in a leaky cup and now lies in a bin half a block away.

Working nearby we dont have time for bad coffee so this will be our first and last visit to 2 fat lattes

The menu mania page for 2 fat lattes says opening soon.. but as we drove past on our way to Ujazi at lunchtime on 31st December, we spotted that it was open already, although empty. After a quick trip round the block to find a park, we went in for lunch.

At this stage I should point out our visitors to the Bay loved the bright clean decor, the Kiwiana on the walls and the handwritten recipe table tops, because at this point everything else went downhill.....

The young lady on the till barely parted her lips in greeting and despite us standing as a group at the counter, talking about what we were going to order amongst ourselves, she rang the total up and asked for the money after I'd given one meal order. I hadn't even got to the trim latte part! She proceeded to do this after every item we asked for, without asking if we wanted drinks, or if that was the full order.

We were given a number and got a table. It was interesting to look at the walls and table recipes, this was a really cool idea. My friends had ordered cabinet food and this was presented microwaved with the smallest amount of almost slimy salad imaginable and without any relish or dressing. The filo pie looked really crisp and attractive until it was overheated until soggy and the ham croquette was heated until it almost glowed.

The french toast with berries was cooked fresh and very nice, although it was lukewarm and spoilt by the squirty cream on the side and being drenched in icing sugar. Before arriving at our table it was put down on the wrong table and when after a minute or so, those people complained and said it wasn't what they ordered, went around the cafe on the arm of the waitress, back into the kitchen and out to me a few minutes later, hence being lukewarm.

So onto the coffee, and what a disappointment! The barista maybe new at this, she was being very careful at the machine and there was none of the noise and drama enjoyed watching good baristas make coffee. There's no problem being slow and careful, but the coffee was burnt and bitter and despite ordering a trim latte, a flat white arrived.

The two stars I've given is for the decor and although we may have experienced an opening glitch, the 2 Fat Lattes will need to up their game to match some of the busy, better quality cafes in the Napier CBD.
