Review Flavour Of India - Napier

Greg “Grego” Mawson
We got takeaways and it was beautiful and a good price. They've been part of Marewa, Napier for many years and it's easy to understand why

Very friendly staff, and the food quality for the price is awesome, perfect butter chicken and naan

has very good food. Beef Korma is my favourite 2/8/23 this is still my go-to indian food outlet. I still smash the beef korma and now my grandson's do too

Best Indian food we have had in Napier. The mango chicken was delicious and the chicken korma was extraordinary. The naans were also good. I wish they had a dine-in lunch special.

So delicious! The paneer is the best I’ve ever had!! Thank you so much!

Very Nice 1/2 dinner deal :-)

I was initially put off by the price (a bit more expensive than im used to) but I quickly found that it was more than justified. The decor is lovely, the staff are friendly and efficient and the food is incredible. We actually didn’t believe it was our meals that arrived because they brought it out so quick! I might be being dramatic but it was the best curry I have ever had

I'm giving this 5 stars because every time I've gone there for an $11 dinner special (freshly made curry, rice, pappadam, huge piece of freshly made naan) I've got what I ordered and expected. Great food, generous serving for the money, friendly, quick, authentic. If you want to pay $$$ for a fine dining experience try Indigo but for me this is perfect.

Classic 'Hole in the wall' local Indian. Food was zesty and full of flavour, banquet and naan were excellent. Two hungry men well and truly defeated. Korma was one of the best I've ever had.

WOW! we just ordered and ate the family pack and between 3 adults and 2 kids. we couldnt even finish it. Delicious authentic indian cuisine. Annnd that naan bread was on point!

The best Indian in Napier! My favourite place to go for dinner, never disappoints. Tonight's dinner was exceptionally amazing! Will never go anywhere else.

A little pricey for what we got but definitely good curry

I must say this has to be the BEST Indian food we have had in Napier. Ordered from the Greenmeadows store, the lamb Nwabi was amazing! and the cheese and garlic naan was huge. We will only be ordering from this place from now on

Used this place weekly for take away ,always had the dinner special 1/2 curry n rice each as both myself and wife are not big eaters but it’s nice to share
We ordered our usual went to pick it up to be told no dinner special no more and it was full curry each ,when my wife argued we had specifically asked for dinner special and you took the order the rude guy called her a liar
We took the food which to be honest was not good very little meat we decided not to go back
Have since found red chilli in Taradale much nicer do a dinner special and are not rude
If you want decent service and a good curry avoid taste of India like the plague

We had dinner at Flavour of India and it was great. Our vego curry was so tasty and the service was excellent. This place is hidden amongst other takeaway shops. It is unpretentious and well priced. Now I'm so full ...

An accidental find within walking distance of my Kennedy Road motel is Flavour of India, inconspicuous among the the Marewa shopping centre stores. Im usually suspicious of empty restaurants at 8.30 on a Saturday night but then it is Marewa, and it is 8.30 Saturday night.
The little Indian man with a smile as big as his more than ample garlic naan immediately rendered the uninviting appearance of the place irrelevant, although "takeaway" still completed my beef jalfrezi & garlic naan order, prepared and handed to me before I could read a 2 page article of a 2012 House and Garden magazine.
While Flavour of India in the Marewa Shopping Centre isn't an attractive sit down destination, the food is true to their word; "only the finest ingredients", and of course delicious.
Don't be put off by the appearance. Place an order, grab a good Hawkes Bay wine from the bottle store about 6 doors down (your order will be ready before you return) and head for the beach.

Flavour of India in Kennedy Road was a happy accident and a great takeaway choice.

$11 dinner deal , half korma chicken (mild) and half rice + a naan and a poppadom is my ideal weekend cure .. i never tried India before just cheap supermarket curries - well i was surprised when i tried the korma lamb for the first time the lamb was so tender and dipping the naan into the sauce it just so good . i go there nearly every Sunday for the last past year now and every time they have made my food spot on .

Also the customer service is great , very polite and friendly and very fast service never have to wait to long for a meal. I really think this place deserves a 5 star rating i will always be a customer here ...

Oh and also i recommend the mango chicken its really tasty

We visited last week and we're surprised to discover how delicious the curry was. Definitely top 3 and well worth the money. The 1/2 dinner fed 2 adults and 1 child. We'll be heading there again soon.

We just finished our takeaway dinner. Was super tasty. Was impressed with the value for money and the taste of the meal. Would def go back again. Great meal

The place isn't much to look at being a takeaway bar, but does that deceive! This would have to be the nicest Indian in Napier without a doubt. Probably the worst complaint I have with Indian in general is the inconsistency. None here, perfect every time. Been there several times now and I am recognised which I think is great service. Normally you don't get that level of attention from a takeaway place. They are quick enough too.

Hey, we tried their Veg Curry for the first time, as opposed to always sticking to Butter Chicken. I can truly say that the kids asked for more! We polished it off with their onion naan bread and it was a complete success with visitors. The flavour was rich leaving you feeling full quite quickly. I can recommend this curry as one of the better vegetable dishes I've tasted at a Tandoori Resturant in a long time.

It is always a real pleasure to discover a little takeaway jewel, and "Flavour of India" is real little cracker. On a freezing Saturday night I ordered a hot lamb Vindaloo with a garlic Naan. When I realised the Naan was made individually, I suspected I might be onto something. And I was! There was enough heat in the Vindaloo to put above the run-of-mill pasteurised Vindaloo's you get from most Indian restaurants. The meal itself had a fragrance and flavour that wouldn't disgrace a good sit down restaurant. And the garlic Naan was simply one of the best I've had for a while. It was so good I went back the second night and got a Korma with garlic Naan. The Naan was excellent again and the Korma was also, again, a notch above 90% of Indian takeaway food.

I think the place in newish, and didn't seem very busy - so for goodness sake get in there and keep the place going at its current high quality!
