From the outside we thought this place would be a very average pub feed, but it outdid our expectations for sure! Lovely fish tacos, great kids meals, fish and chips for adults was huge incl a nice salad and the steaks with baked potatoes were delicious. Food came within 20 mins despite it being quite busy.

Blown away by this amazing place. Food was impeccable, worth every dollar. I had the Lamb Loin (it's a dinner special), the Hot Pudding of the Day (Apple and Peach Crumble), and a Guest Beer (Panhead Blacktop Oat). I wasn't very hungry, but once I started eating the Lamb Loin, I couldn't stop and polished off every bit, even the sauce. Similarly, the Hot Pudding was such a joy. Loved the friendly and warm service from the staff! A bonus was the interior design of the place: unique, fun, informative, and homely. I feel so lucky to have discovered this place and look forward to trying more dishes!

Great restaurant, the mains are quite huge. Tacos are a great size for older kids. Steak was meant to come with coleslaw but came with leafy greens. Chicken Kiev was cooked to perfection.

The food was so yummy, and the place has great character. Peter, our waiter, is great! - so friendly with a great sense of humor. "Bob" the fish in the tank (not on the menu!) follows you around when you put your face close to the glass, and I haven't seen anything like that before! - very entertaining.

We are extremely satisfied customers and highly recommend everyone in the area to check out Smugglers! The food and customer service here was absolutely amazing! Can’t express enough how happy we were with our dining experience. The staff were very welcoming and so friendly. The theme of the restaurant/atmosphere was really cool. Definitely worth a visit!!!!

Wow! What a stunning place! The interior is creative and there's is always something to look at. The service was a amazing. Duty manager was a bloody good bloke. Great selection of beer on tap and the food was perfect. Highly recommend!!!!

Really nice and delicious restaurant. The steak was really good and also the fries. The ambient in the restaurant is like you are sitting in a pub with a lots of wood. Really good.

Great service very inviting and easy to book. Our waiter was on point in taking orders with our big group with lots of jokes. Family friendly place and the atmosphere was great. I had the chicken tacos which was yum. Prices were great!

We went there for a family outing. Welcome was warm and friendly, we were quickly seated and menus arrived. Drinks followed soon after. The range of food chosen by the group was nicely presented and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Staff was friendly and attentive. A good night out.

Overall good food and great staff, but I did think the food is a bit lacking. The ribs and brisket were good but not great. The serving size was generous though and there is also off street parking at the rear.

Great atmosphere. Smugglers has been operating for ages in Nelson and is now more of an institution. Lots of seating with small and large tables, there is also a bar area when you can pop in for a drink rather than a meal. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Food is reasonably priced and all given appropriate smuggling/pirate titles. Decor also matches the theme, just the staff uniforms not so much. Worth a visit if your new to town.

Had a large group booking. The service was fantastic, prompt, and efficient. They kept everyone's glass full, and the meals came within a good time frame and were absolutely delicious, they met all the dietary requirements of our group. Loved the atmosphere. Not from Nelson, but would definitely visit again if we were up that way!

Came here and ended up going for the cheap lunch option with dessert. Next time I would like to try a normal menu meal as they do look amazing in the photos.

Was impressed with this restaurant themed bar. For dinner we had the brisket and the calamari and both were good quality meals. The establishment was clean and the bathroom's were immaculate (an important but often overlooked area especially by bars). Well done smugglers for keeping up the high standards in food, hygiene and service. This has earned you a special 5 star from me (very rare for me to give especially for first time dining). If I had to pick a negative its medium price range, however I believe worth it for the overall experience. We will be back.
