Review Little India - Nelson

I love the curries here. They would get 5 stars but their naan bread is only average. I find it dry and the garlic naan does not have fresh garlic on it. The service is always good. They always ask what spice level you’d live your curry and if you say hot it will be hot and spicy.

Awesome Indian Restaurant. Heaps of great vegan options and all clearly marked as to what is vegan and then what can be made vegan. I had the onion bhaji and a delicious chickpea curry. They got the spice just right and the serving sizes were generous. As an extra cool thing there's a specialty beer they only brew there which has a family link to them. See the attached photo for the story.

My favourite Indian spot in Nelson. Owners are wonderful and hospitable. Food is above average. Tandoori is my favourite. Great service, quick and easy. Good for those visiting Nelson for an easy bite and takeaway options with delivery from a few services. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

Simply an outstanding place to eat. Flavor flavor flavor!!!! Vindaloo is a 10 as is the mixed platter. The lamb WOW !!! Do not miss this place if you visit or are dinning out. 10/10

Absolutely delicious. The meat was beautiful soft textured melt in your mouth. The spice was exactly how I like it. Good price will definitely be back.

Nice ambience. Very tasty food. Big naans and parathas. The owner who was our server is the grandson of Mr Gill who started this restaurant chain.

Came here ready to be disappointed as I've been looking for good Indian food in Brisbane Australia and have to say I left disappointed because we don't have food this good in my city. Awesome food, great portion sizes, great prices, fast service, friendly staff, and very good vegan options.

Lovely tadka dal and chicken korma. Service was excellent- it was great that they didn't come mid meal to ask how the food was while we were stuffing our mouth. Would definitely recommend!

Very delicious food and great service.. the owner personally came to check in on us. Definitely recommend. Even got a free ice cream for our birthday ;) Way better than The INDIAN CAFE on 94 Collingwood St.

Typical mix of meat and others for two, recommended by the house, delicious and abundant. The chicken with mango sauce, amazing. Excellent attention. relation price and quality, very compliant.

Wow, that rates up there with my all time favourite Indian. The meals were tasty, well sized and came out quickly. The staff were super attentive and even offered one of our group a ride home in the pouring rain when they couldn’t get an Uber.

Was surprised by how small my butter chicken meal portion was, compared to the rice bowl, however I must say, don't judge a book by it's cover, I can honestly say I let the restaurant feeling satisfied, I would go back next time I'm in Nelson

We were late in for lunch. The air conditioning was on (thank goodness). We were warmly welcomed and seated, and offered water. (Cooled) Our food choices came quickly and were delicious. Two great vegetarian curries with a large bowl of rice, along with fresh hot naan breads - all that for $28. Cant get better than that! Highly recommend Little India.

I had dinner here tonight and the food was superb - tasty and fresh with just the right amount of heat. The service was excellent - friendly, welcoming and the food was delivered quickly. We were not rushed and felt looked after and welcomed.

I had take away butter chicken and it was worth every dollar.
The portion sizes were massive they gave me a good 3 meals and it was delicious I was actually sad when the food was finished.

It tasted even better the next day. I highly recommend this place

have had little india elsewhere and thought it was great but havnt really enjoyed food here quite oily . you know when you overcook cream it turns to gloopy oil well unfortunatly thats what the meals were like . we adore indian food our favourite infact so were pretty discerning there are better options in town

I am surprised at some of the other reviews here about service – I eat here regularly, both eat in and take away and the service is always top notch, I couldn't fault it. The restaurant is always spotless and welcoming and my family always has a good time there. The food is fantastic, I've eaten a lot of the various dishes and love it all. My favourite would have to be prawn kadai (I'm not normally a prawn curry kind of person, but this dish is exceptional). My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that sometimes the cream based dishes are a little too creamy and oily for my liking.

Best Indian restaurant in town, went with family and friends on a busy evening and was very much satisfied with the service and the quality of food was the best, had tried other Indian places in town and around the country but this is the best.
Highly recommended, keep up the good work team.

Had to think about being as harsh as a two star ~ all the dishes we had were delicious but the service was awful = ignored at the front door, then ages to be served at the table, and items we ordered completely forgotten about. WAS going to go three star but then read other reviews and it appears the service is an on going problem that hasn't been rectified. What a pity because the food is great.

Friendly prompt service and good quality food, as always. We've been coming here every few months for years with the standard always consistently very good.
Mandy
Average, heavy, oily food and mediocre service if you can get it at all. Walk another few metres and go the The Indian Cafe.

Booked on a Saturday night for dinner with my wife. When we walked through the front door we were treated as though we were invisible. When I mentioned that I had made a booking they didn't even ask for any details as though the booking was an after thought. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if there were no seats available.

A waiter finally seated us with menus, we waited for over 30mins before we got fed up and left. During that time a waitress thought it would be more appropriate to clear tables around us ignoring the fact that we were ready to order. The only time we were acknowledged again was when we got up to leave, then and only then did the waiter tell us that he'd be ready to take our order. Horrible service, will never come back here.

The food would have been nice...if you get a chance to order

Little India is by far the best indian I have ever tasted and you can always rely on it to be good! The staff are always polite and helpful and you can always get a table (booking hardly ever necessary) I will continue to go to Little India as long as they are around!

This is the first time we visited Little India in Nelson since we moved up here. Very tasteful ambience and professional service with smile. Food was tasty but not oily or too spicy. Very nice and clean. I am sure we'll find an excuse to visit you soon. :)

FANTASTIC! Great dining experience, lovely atmosphere, impressive service, and the food is quiet simply the best Indian I have ever tasted, was so fresh and flavoured, would definitely come back!
Steve
We had a very pleasant meal here on a quiet Sunday night. Food was very nice and the service was polite and attentive, but slightly carrot-up-butt. But it was still an enjoyable evening.

I have to say that this was the worst indian food I have ever tasted, i cant comment on the service as we got take away, however I can safely say I will never find out!
Jenni
