Review Masa's Restaurant & Sake Bar - Nelson

Loved it, awesome Japanese food experience without breaking the bank. We went as a group and we had the daily special, it's a fab three course meal (plus complementary miso soup) that leaves you satisfied as the portions are perfect and the price is great. Highly recommended, its the best place I went to while visiting Nelson. Sorry, didn't take any pics as we were starving! (Service time was spot on too)

An awesome place to eat. Such a shame it's closing for good on 26th January though. Visit while you can. Simple decor but tasty set menu with generous portions at a reasonable price. Very friendly service too!

The single 1 star given to this restaurant appears to be from a very sad and angry young man ( I think he's male but not sure). Ignore it. After 5 years of living in Japan and selling high end food products into Japan, I can assure you this place is honest, authentic and simply rates with the best you will find anywhere in NZ.

Very nice! Menu is set up for groups, order a few dishes and share. Sad to see it's closing in a week due to owners moving to a different lifestyle

Great restaurant, food is lovely and wait staff are very helpful. It has changed management this year and the presentation and food is better than ever. Highly recommend it!

A little pricey for the portions but still good eating. It is quality Japanese food and service is good. Suits sharing with others.

Great value for money! Asuka gozen and masa gozen are both very worth while and tasty if you want a bit of everything.

Would definitely come back here. The place felt really authentic. We got given complimentary miso soup, great miso. Nice staff, good service. Sushi was good but being fussy - not spectacular.

Stopped by Nelson for one night. Found Masa's by chance and decided to give it a go. We loved the ambience and service was pleasant. We had the two sets - sushi/sashimi and the other with a main. We enjoyed our food thoroughly and price was reasonable. If we were locals, we would definitely go back!

Lovely staff, wonderful food, realistic pricing.<br/><br/>It wasn't a busy night so we stayed for around 3 hours, just as pleasant a place to sit and chat with drinks and pass time with good company as well as enjoy beautiful food.<br/>I will definitely be returning.

The first time we visited I was really impressed with the service and the food ... so we came back for more and got the same great service and food. Love the Teriyaki Chicken.<br/>Going again tonight with friends this time

We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and so glad we did.<br/>We were greeted with smiles and quickly seated. The menu has a good variety of items and the wine list is well chosen. We started with the seaweed salad- very good and the veggie tempura - a lot of food for $7.00. We then moved onto the sushi/sashimi platter - 17 pieces and very fresh and tasty. We then shared a rainbow roll- a generously sized roll and tasty, but a bit too much rice for my liking.<br/>I had the Martinborough vineyards riesling - very good and my husband had the Wither hills chardonnay. I like how they present the bottle to you before they pour so you can actually see that you're getting what you ordered - nice.<br/>The waitress was attentive but not imposing. The atmosphere is simple and clean.<br/>Overall very good food and very fairly priced. We'll be back

Went with a big group to have dinner here at the 28/11/12. Really nice place and very friendly staff. We tried a bit of everything and the food was absolutely delicious. I can really recommend this place.

went to Masa's with two friends tonight (30 November 2012) it was a delightful evening from the time we walked in the door. The service and food were first class it was well presented and full of flavour it would have to be the most enjoyable dinner I have had for a long time. Well done to all involved will be back again soon.

We went to Masas in Hardy Street, Nelson 29/11/12. From the moment we walked in to when we left we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was fresh, colourful, well presented and flavoursome. The waitresses where attentive, informative and delightful. They catered for us outside the menu with no effort at all by providing us with a selection of entrees. The decor was unobtrusive and very nice. The price was very reasonable. Cannot wait to go back.
