We have been getting fish n chips from this shop (and the shop formerly known as Alton Street Takeaways) for over 40 years. Best in Nelson. I particularly recommend the potato fritters (flips) as a delicious addition to any meal. So grateful for the effort and dedication!

Think this is my favourite chippy in town. I recently made an order and got caught up in town and they had to throw my order away. They made me a new order on the spot even though it was my fault! They're great and super accomodating and will encourage others to get their meals here. Great service and great food too!!

There food is to die for!, just melts in your mouth and you don’t taste the grease and oil like like most places!. Also it’s great comfort food

Fish Stop was open on Anniversary Day holiday so came in for some classic fish and chips after a busy day of driving. We ordered potato fritters, battered fish, chips and I ordered a battered sausage for myself.<br/><br/>Serve was huge and wrapped in newspaper. Potato fritters were a little oily and the same could be said for the fish. The battered precooked sausage was a giant and I loved it. The chips were covered in chicken salt and were also nice.<br/><br/>Overall not the best fish and chips I’ve had but also not the worst... just average

Okay, So I had to cross town on foot to get there and back, so I was hoping it was going to be worth it! Well, after getting home and sitting down with my meal, I tried everything. Ill start with the bad: The potato fritters werent cooked. They were raw in the middle, raw potato isnt amazing. The Hot dog wasnt amazing. The Chips though, were crunchy! And the fish was nice. <br/><br/>All and all the food was a tad too greasy, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal :D<br/><br/>The Jam pop was amazing too! I give it a 4/5!
