Well where to start!!!
A simple meal of steak, eggs, and chips taken to another level.
Service from the staff outstanding.
The atmosphere, good music, nice lighting, tables and chairs comfortable.
The meal taken to a whole new flavour level. Steak medium rare and delivered exactly like that. The steak beautifully presented on the plate. Eggs perfectly cooked. Enough chips to not overpower the plate of food.
I rarely give 5 stars but seriously hard not too. Having eaten in various places in Nelson over the last three days this is the best by far. Value for money is here.

Went with a couple of friends and came during their $25 deal. Worth it! I ate the vegetarian pasta and had the house wine. Also got the Tobeleron mixed drink for dessert. Yum! Good atmosphere. Rugby was playing on the projector screen over the bar.

We were looking for the place to watch rugby tonight and we found here. Very good food especially green curry mussels 😋 good curry !!!!!

What a great meal. Wife and I had the chilli cheese garlic bread and the stuffed chicken breast. No room for desert. Service was great. Good music playing and ambience was great also. Would definitely recommend.

Great place to come eat here at 623, drink, chill. Upstairs eating.. the staff are great n friendly also, cheif is on point with his meals, cooked to perfection.. whalaa..
They have musical bingo nights too...
The bar owner has knowledge on the buildings past n is a nice freindly dude..
They have crusaders icons inside, im from Christchurch so i noticed that being in nelson city.. cafe, bar, lounge.. the porterhouse n the chicken breast i had both separate days n enjoyed it completely had no complaints at all 5stars. Go get something

Had the best Fish and chips meal at 623. Fish was fresh, large pieces, cook very well, lovely crisp batter, crisp chips and a salad that a lot more than just lettuce leaves on a plate. even had home made tartara. And the meal was fairly large. Price was cheaper than anywhere else that I have been to.

awesome staff, food was great. my dad couldn't stomach the hospitals dinner so asked for freid chicken and prawns, they catered for my dad's changes and he loved it, the most he's ate in days.

We had our bday/anniversary here last night.. Omg what an amazing team!!
The outdoor setting was perfect, the staff were amazing went over & above nothing was a problem. The drinks specials were very generous, as were the platters of food and they even provided us with extra free of charge. I can't recommend 623 enough we will definitely be having our next function there.
Thankyou so much to all the staff for such a wonderful stress free night!

We were there as a reserved group for a farewell. The pub did a set menu for us at reasonable price. Our waitress,Victoria, was excellent taking orders calmly in an organized way. After the orders were taken, she took extra drink orders and these were served quickly. She was very friendly and helpful,announcing that the meals were about to be served to allow extra drink orders as required. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and well presented. The portions were generous, and delicious and fit the menu descriptions. Well done that chef! After dinner drinks and superb coffees topped off a great evening! Thank you 623.

My wife and I took a chance on this place and BOY, ARE WE GLAD WE DID!!!! all around great food! Nothing pretentious about the food; you will get delectable and original dishes served by friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff.
They particularly helped us with the menu selections upon learning about our gluten intolerance.
Bravo to the staff and the chef!!
BTW -We are here for one more night and
going back to that restaurant for an encore is seriously considered...🤗

Really enjoyed my Wednesday night special of steak, chips and salad. Ordered mushroom sauce for my steak, could have done with more sauce but all in all a great meal. Love the old building!
