Review Mai Thai Restaurant - New Brighton North

Great food. We asked for the items to be spicy, and they were indeed spicy matching our expectations which we usually don't get at restaurants. The place was empty on a Friday night (7:30 pm), which made us wonder if the food was going to be good but we would be visiting again to try more items.

I had my 62nd Birthday there , the staff had set up loads of ballons and supplied a yummy chocolate Cake to finish the night. I had 16 people plenty of space with two large tables pushed togeather . Food was supplied quickly with trays of Thai starters scattered over the tables. Meals for everyone came out very quickly and everyone ate togeather and drank some of our BYO wine, supplimented with Thai beers 🍻 from Mai Thai, the Beef Cheeks were to die for as well as Huge lamb shanks, everyone reported tasty food, myself i had Thai Hot others not hot at all .Well done MaiThai for giving me a great night.

Looking for magnificent flavors of Thai cuisine. Mai Thai is for you. We ordered Red curry + crispy pork and Tom Yum + beef. Love the well balanced taste of curry, a bit hot which is I prefer to eat with my nice crispy tender pork. Tom yum fried rice was so tasty I ordered two for takeout. No miss here in Mai Thai.

I have been trying different green curries around NZ and this has been my favorite and closest to the curry I had in Thailand. The food was made quickly and the portions were solid. We spent $60 on a green curry, spring rolls, pad thai (I think?) and a side of peanut satay sauce. We both ate our leftovers for lunch the next day.

Honestly such good Thai food!! I’ve been there a couple times and the service is always so nice and lovely. Really decent price for the quality of food. Green Thai curry is my favourite! Chicken skewers were a bit bland however.

Very authentic Thai food! Recommend the green curry and the beef salad. Great service as well. Saw that they have Thai green iced tea. Might try next time.

Our family had a meal here over the weekend. One of us had the salmon green curry. Best green curry we've had in a long time. We also had the Holy Basil Stir Fry with beef, which was excellent and tender. The big letdown, though, was the Holy Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork. Don't make the mistake of ordering this. The pieces of pork were tiny and tough and certainly NOT crispy. I was afraid I'd chip a tooth if I kept eating it. This was truly disappointing. It seemed to be a parsimonious serving of pork that had either been overcooked or reheated. Big letdown. The vegetables were fresh, though, and the spices were just right!

Oh my goodness that is the most delicious Thai food I’ve ever eaten. The serving was huge with lots of cashew nuts, and the flavours were so beautifully balanced and fresh. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. Thank you so much for making such delicious food.

Great authentic Thai food and friendly service. They have vegan options. We had a curry and stir fry, both were delicious.

Very nice. First time I have tried here. Got takeaways and was very happy, food was delicious and full of flavor. Looking forward to my lunch tomorrow. (I brought two meals as I am currently in hospital so one for lunch/dinner tomorrow)

Another nice little gem of a restaurant just of riccaton road , I found the staff and the food top notch with the price been an absolute winner for the amount you recieved on your plate , so overall if u like Thai that's its my Thai all the way 😋 ❤️

Best Pad Thai! Staff was also super friendly & the portions are big! Will def. come again.

Outstanding, came here today for lunch with my girlfriend. Food was incredible! I've eaten so much Thai food over the years regularly and this is genuinely the best thai food I've ever had. Can definitely tell the chef cares!!! Will be back for sure! So happy to find you guys!

Outstanding, ordered salmon green curry, amazing taste and gorgeous presentation. I’ve tried many Thai restaurants in Christchurch, all of them are homogenous, whereas this one is really a surprise. Highly recommended.

One of the hidden gems in Christchurch! Incredible food. Lovely, visual menu with lots of gluten free options. Meals are a great size and absolutely worth the money with even the pricier options less than $30. Lots of ice in the drinks though. My partner and I were there for our anniversary and even though there were snow flurries outside it was warm in the restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout. I'd highly recommend them based on my first experience and I can't wait to eat there again and try more of the menu.
