Review Elegance Chinese Restaurant - New Lynn

Corinne Coutinho
We had Yum Cha (Dim Sum) at this restaurant. The food was really good and service was quick and efficient. The restaurant itself is pretty basic looking, but hey, the food was good. Staff came around with trollies every few minutes with a tempting array of traditional Yum Cha items as well as a few eclectic items. We sampled some Shu Mai, Prawn and scallion pancakes, pork roast, some rice pancakes with prawns, salt and pepper squid, BBQ pork buns, sesame balls, sticky rice and ice cream balls. We would recommend this restaurant and give it 👍👍

Been here a couple of times and this place never seems to fail definitely love the squid tentacles and the bbq pork our go to for lunch on a Sunday Prawn dumpling are divine very fresh and mouth watering the service is Great everyone is very friendly the best time to go is in the later evening before closing as they are not too busy then compared to Sunday brunch time could be a bit of a wait for trolleys to come through etc pricing is fair and reasonable quantity and quality is a 5/5 for me !!

We had a pleasant yumcha experience today, booking was easy, food was quick to come and tasty. Great service from staff who served tea and clearing of dishes, will be returning again.

Loved the food and the atmosphere in this place. So relaxed, and the staff are so friendly. Was a memorable experience with friends.

We went in European but were treated amazingly. The food was top notch and the portion sizes make up for the price one meal will easily feed two people or have leftovers for lunch. I'll be writing about this place in my popular food review blog and giving it 9/10. Thank you elagance for the lovely evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed dinner here tonight, I prefer it over the yum cha. Highly recommend the Gai Lan (greens) dish and the fried salt/pepper prawns (there's a tofu version) is delish!

I have been to China twice, but the food was not to my taste. So there was a stereotype that Chinese food didn't suit me, but I happened to visit a store with a Chinese friend today. All the food was so nice and delicious unexpectedly. I decided to visit again next time because it was fantastic and all the dishes were delicious!!! ❤️✨🤞🏻

I'm quite picky at Yam Char This one is okay Good value for the money Steam cart is pushing around the floor Convenient location walking to the Newlynn station

One of our local chinese restaurants. Serves A L O T of yummy food for a relatively cheap price! Service is quick and the restaurant has a good set up, with lots of tables - Recommend for a cheap night out.

Good menu selection, friendly staff. Fast service. Recommend booking on weekends 👌

My new favourite suburban yum cha place. Decent pricing at about 25pp. Very good quality food, and plenty of capacity. Will definitely come back, and recommend to others.

Get your arrival time just right so you have the best selection of delicious Yum Char.

Returned for a yum cha lunch after a long break. The food and service was very good. After a feeding frenzy, I remembered to take a pic of the last remaining dish:

Went there last night. RIDICULOUSLY SLOW service!!! Ordered 4 dishes which arrived seperately over a period of 1.5 hours! Other tables had the same issue. 1 guy stood up holding his table number as an indicator to staff that he wanted his food! What added to the frustration was seeing a family in the private room who arrived way after us and others in our area, get served their huge order! Would not go again and would not recommend.

Came here with a large group. They took charge and knew what to order on the menu. Sadly not a lot of vegetarian options but even what I couldn’t eat looked so good. Staff were so friendly and fast. Would definitely come back

They provide the worst service ever. After over 15 mins wating, they just provide the unwashed tableware. And they said they cannot provide the cleaned tableware as their dishwasher problem. They just use disgusting dining environment and terrible service to welcome their clients!!!!

Located opposite the New Lynn bus station, Elegance was always jammed when I would walk or drive past. Knowing this I made it an effort to try out its Yum Cha and it was pretty good actually. They had a variety of dishes available their fried glutinous dumpling had great filling to wrap ratio, the BBQ pork buns toasted fresh and wrapped chicken rice didn’t taste soggy/watery.

A decent spot for Yum Cha for those based around West Auckland. Service was decent too, our tea was constantly updated, the people with the trolleys weren’t pressuring us and most importantly the plates weren’t thrown on our table. With the above however, its a little cruel but nothing in particular stood out either, but still its nice to have a solid Yum Cha place around the corner from ones humble abode.

Showstopper: Fried Glutinous Dumpling

Overall Grade: B

First time visit for both of us and we were pleasantly surprised at the tasty food on offer. Weve been spoiled by a couple of other places so we were expecting to be disappointed. The view and ambience left a lot to be desired but the food was excellent

So so so happy when elegance Chinese restaurant finally opened its doors, new Lynn (and west Auckland) was in desperate need of a delicious and affordable yum Cha joint!
This place is busy, but thankfully takes bookings.
Their prices aren’t over the top like some of its equivalents in central Auckland.
Their dumplings are usually always hot and they’re always tasty.
We usually go early (around 11:30am) and the selection is good. If your favourite is not on the cart (like most yum Cha) you can order what you want from the menu.
The staff here are very friendly and they speak great English if you need it....

🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟 5 star dumpling review

My second time dining here, it was not too busy at the time which was good for us. Our food order was taken and delivered to our table in a timely manner. All the food we ordered were delicious. We ordered, Half duck a bit on the tough side to chew but still yum, stir fried pork with cashew nuts, black pepper beef, chicken fillet with lemon sauce and steamed chicken feet with black bean...drooling now 😁. The only down side for me was not enough steamed rice, we ordered 4xrice bowls that came in a small barrel type bowl which when you're dining with an adult male and two growing almost teenage boys, you'll need a rice pot...😂😂 lol. Overall dining experience was pleasant and enjoyable, I'll definitely return for more.👍

Best yum cha! Prawn and chive dumpling are my fave and the pork ribs I can eat two by myself. We also order this Uber eats and it come so hot and fresh

Only been there for yumcha. You get all the traditional yumcha dishes, generally pretty good~ Could be better if there are some more selections.

Cleanly and neat, with staff that are the friendliest I’ve come across in all Yumcha culture in Auckland! Smiling, and willing to help and explain ingredients also brings various condiments to better our eating experience (even when we are used to self service). Food is no doubt delicious, they are quite experimental! I cannot wait to be back!

Ever since coming to this place, elegance has been our family go-to for yum cha! The restaurant is spacious and comfortable. There is a wide variety of food and all are reasonably priced! The customer service is quite good. The staff are pretty attentive and friendly. They introduced us to 虾多士(Deep fried prawn toast) which we now order all the time when we go yum cha. Being a huge sesame dessert fan, I would say that they make one of the best 芝麻球 (Sesame balls w peanut butter) in town! The outside is crispy and chewy but not too thick, and the inside is oozing with melted sesame paste! The 蛋挞 (egg tart), Almond Taro paste rolls, red bean balls, 冰雪榴莲 (Durian balls w cream) and 小笼包 (Steamed shanghai pork buns w red vinegar sauce) are all highly recommended! The 流沙包 (steamed custard salted egg yolk buns) is my favourite, arguably the best too! However the salted egg yolk taste has decreased the last few times I've been there ;-; and sometimes the oozing effect of the custard is not so consistent every time. Nonetheless, this place is great for yum cha! As with any popular yum cha place, try come early around 11-12 so that the popular stuff don't run out! (Saying this from the point of view of someone who always misses out on her 叉烧酥 (BBQ pork pastry) ;-;) Haven't tried their dinner menu yet, but am definitely keen to try! :)))

Had Yum Char lunch today, a good variety and food plentiful, good service.
The only downside, the chicken feet dish were oversteamed , resulting in small, shrunken chicken feet.
The eel had no taste at all, what a waste of a dish. This is my usual Yum Char place out West.

Such a nice place to eat yum cha. I have been eyeing this place up for a while now, and I regret not going sooner. The staff were very attentive and I was worried I would have to pick and guess what each dish they had (cuz I don't speak chinese)..but staff explained and recommended some good dishes. Will be back for sure.

Overall, the food was mediocre. The service was quite bad. Waited for at least 1/2 hour before we could place an order. Could probably go for better “yumcha” at other places 🙂
Jobe Dalumpines-De Lumban
Great location. Nice set-up (ambiance). Generous serving. Reasonably priced. Food is ok, nothing special. Meat in the siumai was not tender. Service was good. Got a complimentary fruit plate. Overall, I would still go back to this place.

Have been to this restaurant for dinner several times. The foods there were above average and the staff were pretty efficient and friendly. They offered a complimentary big bowl of hot boiled chicken / pork based soup for each table, enough for all diners. The soup was fairly good too.

The setback is that the gaps and walkways between tables are rather narrow giving diners a sardine packed feeling. Luckily the foods are good.

Food & Beverage : 8/10
Service : 6/10
Price : 6/10
Ambience : 6/10

We hosted a wedding dinner celebration here for our son. Owner Caire was very accomodative and assisted to make this occasion a really memorable one. Food was excellent and service was good. Really pleased. Highly recommended

Hands down the best Chinese in West Auckland. Spicy fish in chilli oil and the soft shell crab is amazing, staff are lovely also. Start your night with the broth, you can’t go wrong

Stopped in here on a whim as we've been on the lookout for a new yumcha local and could see the carts going around. It started getting busy as we left, so it's obviously popular, and I suspect if we'd arrived 1/2 hour later we would have got even more dishes offered.

Overall really happy and will be going back. The price was very reasonable, the dishes we tried were yummy and I'm eager to book a table for slightly later to see if they have more of my favourites.
Annie Ren
We came here for a family dinner celebrating rice dumpling festival. This restaurant has a good selection of seafood as well as classic Cantonese dishes. I really enjoyed the mushrooms dish as well as the soft shell crab. The steamed oysters were also flavoursome with mixed garlic bits and vermicelli noodles!

Do not go there when it is busy like mothers day.
My son booked at 7 pm for me. When we arrived, no one greeted us at the door. Already busy there, packed of people. Lots of shouting. Finding a right person was a mission. No eye contact. No English. The 3rd person I asked ,she ushered us to take a waiting seat. No word. We were seated at 7:15pm at a dirty table. They didn't clean the table before we sat down. I guess this is the normal manner of the restaurant when it is busy. From then on we were not served even they took our order untill 7:50pm. Clearly understaffed and disorganised.
My son started counting how long the first dishes would serve to us. It took 32 minutes. They gave us a complimentary desert. But it was not a pleasing taste at all. It was the combination of tapioca and coconut milk??? This was after I complained to the waiter. Meanwhile, there was a plenty of entertainment to watch as a disgruntled customer complained to the kitchen about being his dishes was raw! Deep fried dishes too!
A lady next to our table was visually upset with lots of angry shouting to the waitress. Her English partner tried to calm he down, and he asked the waitress with gentle voice for chasing up their daughter's dishes. But it never arrived! They left the table... The one waitress served two wrong dishes. Went back to the kitchen and out but she was still confused....
My highlight was the fish fillet with lemon sauce. The dish arrived as deep-fried fish and lemon sauce. When I asked the waiter why it was different from the menu, he apologized to us about that's how they serve it, promised he would talk to his manager and then disappeared, leaving the dish to go cold. We did not eat it. The food we ate was average. The seafood mixed congee was tasteless and undercooked fish. I became a bit suspicious after seeing the customer served raw dish. The last dish was served at 9:05 pm. They apologised for the delay because they apparently had cooked the wrong dishes.
The noodles I ate had a smoky burnt taste too.
I was really disappointed with the night especially since it was recommended to be by a friend that the restaurant had quality service and great dishes to try out.

My last word is to the restaurant owners: please make things right for the sake of customers. ......
Edwin Roesli
Food that was delivered is very good, however the service provided was very appalling. Dishes were served at an inconsistent rate for example our second dish was served 20 minutes later after the first dish and another 20 minutes later for the third. The rice served was warm but hard giving the feeling that is was just pre cooked rice but heated up for service. The staff had no sense of professionalism, constantly shouted at each other whilst being right next to customers. However, not all is bad as the food slightly covers for the appalling service, beef was tender and the steamed fish superb. Overall I do not recommend this restaurant unless you don't mind the long wait.
Came in for lunch with the family today.
Egg tarts were fresh and soft. The BBQ pork buns were also soft with tender BBQ pork inside. One of the best BBQ pork buns I've tasted. Curry fish balls came with noodles. The noodles didn't have much flavour but the fish balls were good. Other items tasted like the average yum cha food you can get anywhere. Would come again to try other dim sim.

great location. fine price, lots of room to improve the food quality. be honest, their bun cannot match frozen bun from TaiPing market. I am not strong enough to eat their meat. one point for their location. location is the king.

It's very famous here! The meal time is a lot of people, but the service staff are very friendly and the snacks are delicious! I live on the north shore, but I come to this restaurant every week!

I dined in for dinner. In terms of food, it was pretty good. But service was horrible. 3 servers for a full restaurant and service wasn’t entirely professional and lacked attention to the diners

No one came to ask whether we’ve ordered or not, so we had to signal for service and for a while too. They served us the first dish but hadn’t served us the soup and we had to remind them. Another thing is that we ordered a gai lan and when it was served, it was choi sum. They claimed that someone came and asked if it was okay for the change, but no one came. They change the dish without letting us know in advance. We also asked for 3 cups with ice and the waitress said sure, but then forgot because it was quite busy, so we reminded her twice and the third time, she came back and said that we have to wait for ice lol

So food is a 8/10 but service is more like 1/10 price is a little on the expensive side considering the service was quite bad.

One of my favorite yum cha spots in Auckland. I don't live around here but still manage to come here almost weekly.

It might not be the best tasting yum cha in NZ but it is certainly up there. Yum cha items are very reasonably priced. Can fill you up at $25 per person.

You can also order yum cha items for dinner. Dishes are okay. I recommend focusing on signature Cantonese dishes only.

Busy restaurant, come early to avoid disappointment. Decent service and (drum roll) clean bathroom!

I love the beef tripe from this place 😍 in my opinion, the food is absolutely outstanding! I love Asian food and i most definitely love Chinese food. Huge variety! This place got me exploring a lot of food that i've never tried before and i was not disappointed. So much flavour in all their delicious dishes! So hungry just thinking about that place! Take your family if you like to venture out and is open minded on trying different things/asain dishes. Atmosphere is allgood, was definitely catered to our wants and needs. I can't speak for anyone else but our experience was GREAT!

Beautifully cooked food with friendly service. Highly recommend the siu mai. Gonna have to bring the family here next time they are visiting from Hong Kong

We heard a lot of adverse comments from friends about this restaurant.
We finally decided to give it a try ourselves.

We came for dinner. The restaurant was reasonably spacious and pleasant.
The service was pretty good. They were attentive.

We ordered a couple of dishes. To our surprise, the food actually taste pretty good.

So don’t just listen to comments. You have to try it yourself.

As we did not book a table on a Saturday night, we were a bit worry that we couldn't get a table. When we arrived at around 7:30pm, there's like about 10 tables. The staff was friendly tho as the soup on the house was luke warm, the young waiter was happy to re heat it for us but when comes to ordering, she's looks confused and been going back and forth asking her fellow colleague. The most disappointing dish was the recommended muchroom/ fungus chicken, all you can see all small pieces of chicken spread over the plate, ginger and spring onion beef with not much beef, have to said the steam fish was fresh but the rest was just so so. The food was really good when they first opened but looks like the standard drops, quality and quantity wise. Don't think we will be back that soon.

Been here for yum cha a couple of times with family and friends. The food here was great! The sesame balls and chestnut cakes were very sweet and mouth-watering. I find the dimsum here very fresh and fragrant as well as reasonably priced. However, the soft drinks here do seem to be a little overpriced but this ain't a very big deal.
When it comes to the weekends, the restaurant gets very busy which makes the place very crowded and noisy but I guess this is just a part of the Canton yum cha culture as people have to work during the weekdays. The weekends were perhaps the only days when people get to spend time with their family. During the weekends I noticed that there is a one hour limit policy for eating at the restaurant and I find this just enough to have a feast. The free parking around this area is also limited to an hour which makes it perfect fit. For those who find one hour not enough, you're basically just wasting the time of other's and I suggest that you should just come at weekdays instead as the one hour limit does not apply during weekdays.
I've only been here once for dinner but the dishes at dinner are huge and are far more fragrant than the dimsum at yum cha time. The dishes here average at about $20-$50 each and $95 is probably enough to fulfill a table of 4. Pecking duck would probably be my favourite dish here and would definitely recommend. A limited range of dimsum is also available at dinner time but they are more expensive than the price they go for at yum cha time. They also offer free desert during dinner time when we finish eating (in my case I had sago but I've been told they sometimes has red bean soup too).

The restaurant was overall great and well groomed with some pretty astonishing lighting around the restaurant. Toilets here are moderately clean. Staff here was very friendly and offered exceptionally good customer service. There was also quite a few staff members that could speak fluent english, which was more than what I have expected. Would recommend to people who like Chinese food or people who live around west auckland and would like to try new things!

They served raw prawn toast to me. The middle is stone cold and I asked for change , they didn't change over just reheat it and served the same one to me.
I'm not happy about the way they do and no apologies to me.
Will not go back.

We came here at night and it was so so busy, about half full. The place itself is nothing flash and reminds me of quite a few other Chinese restaurants in Auckland in the way of decor and atmosphere. Service was pretty good with our orders being taken in good time , though it did seem a little longer than i expected for the food to actually come out. As for the food..... well overall it was okay. Nothing to wax lyrical about and nothing as bad as just to get up and leave over. Which is why i am keeping this so short and sweet.....it was ok overall. Not quite befitting of the name Elegance if you put the name to the feel, food etc of the place Oh and yeah before i forget the price is average too. If you dont make it there dont worry about it. We won't be going back again in a hurry.

I went on a weekday and it was packed, obviously through lunch hours, around 11.30am-2pm more or less. Nonethless, my party of three and i didnt wait so long till we were seated. I found that the seating was pretty cramped so my poor grandma got bumped by the carts and people most of the time for being on the 'outside' seat...

I tried the usual (prawn dumplings, pork and prawn dumplings, egg tart, bbq pork bun, etc.) These pictured were the new ones i tried (except the durian puff/rice cake.) All of them were so worth it. Just the right amount of flavours, neither meaty nor underseasoned. The size of one was big and their filling, generous.

The upsides: compared to other durian puffs i had, this was total 'foodgasm' aka the best. BIG softy and umptious, still cold and the filling had good consistency, and finally, messy to eat, just the way i like it!

The downsides: their cheong fan (rolled rice noodles-not pictured here) was not so appetising. It had uneven consistency (some parts gluggy, some parts firm) and it stuck to my chopsticks. Their filling was of average taste. I do commend them on the sauce, however.
This review is strictly for the yum cha service at Elegance. TLDR: 'twas good, nek minnit...
I went to Elegance twice, once when it first opened and then 2 weeks ago. I was initially quite impressed with the quality and variety of the food offering. However it all changed the second time round, the dumplings should be translucent, made with wheat starch, yet not stick to the steamer; instead they were a dull grey colour and broke apart when picked up, this showed that flour was mixed into the pastry and the person who made/cooked them lacked skill even with the added strength of flour. The stuffing of the dumplings were also quite average, the shrimps tasted vaguely of baking soda but at least they were whole shrimps.
We also ordered the rice rolls which was on the heavy/sloppy side, and were congealing under its own weight. According to Wikipedia, a good rice roll should be fragrant and smooth, unfortunately it was neither, but then again, most yum cha places in NZ would fail the test.
The restaurant itself suffers from many ailments common to all Chinese restaurants. It was noisy, dark overcrowded-- the owners just tried to shove as many tables into the premises as possible, much like Auckland city and its housing development-- with no consideration of the (foot) traffic flow; in order to pay you'll have to queue across the front of the restaurant, which blocks the entrance for those coming in. The servers were also did not speak much English but thankfully, the menu was detailed enough that pointing would suffice when you order.
Basically, Elegance had some good foods, but it's not a place to test the chef's skills, just order the dishes that were difficult to screw up.

Great service, nice and clean restaurant. The food is okay, it could be better. The location is very convenient and the staff are friendly. Overall good place to go to.

Called in here with my friend Peter on Sunday 25 June 2017 - his shout 😊, and boy we are full after Yum Char so we will walk it off in the Waterview Tunnel.
Ambiance - very busy so not as relaxing as if it was quieter. Felt very rush rush rush.
Food - excellent, we loved the Beans & sumai & prawn dumplings , sesame balls - omg yummy.
Service - good except took their time on refilling our tea pot.

Had yum cha there with friends, food is fresh delicious and well presented, price is reasonable for what we've ordered, good service and clean environment. Had seafood dinner there as well, ordered crayfish which is absolutely fresh and yummy, not cheap though, $500 for crayfish itself (2.4kg), but definitely worth the price!
Patrick Tong
It was very busy when we arrived at about 1pm today. Foodwise. Quite flavorsome. Unfortunately, the chicken feet wasn't tender enough (still quite chewy). Service was alright. Food trolleys always passing by. That is good.
Christina Hyt
Been to yum char with my family last weekend. Amazing food and staff are very friendly. Large range of dim sum to choose, reasonable priced,we got out with 8 full tummies for less than 100 bucks, it definitely will be our weekend kitchen.(๑‾ ꇴ ‾๑)

Came here for yumcha an hour before closing and we were seated promptly by the door. As the restaurant yumcha session was closing we were provided with the menus, however a few dishes we wanted were already sold out. The steamed food came out hot however the 炸两 (fried dough rice rolls) were hard and over fried (refried??) and inedible, as you can see from the photo it looks unappetising. The manager removed it from our bill after we complained but they shouldn't serve food like that in the first place.
Casey Cheung
Very poor customer service. We ordered the glutinous rice with Lotus leaves wig Boneless chicken, on the menu it says boneless chicken whereas the real food comes with pork and chicken. It does not match with what it says on the menu. What's worse, the manager was very rude to us. I would NEVER EVER PAY A VISIT AGAIN! 0/5 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Love this place. Been here twice and have enjoyed it both times. The staffs are friendly and very helpful, even though my boy made a complete mess in our second visit. Ordered the spectacular steamed blue cod, amazing free range chicken in brown sauce, prawn fried rice, seafood and tofu claypot and a beautiful plate of lobster with fried noodles. Food is super yummy here and would like to try their yum char one day.

Love this place. Boyfriend and I go at least once a month - delicious duck plates, their sizzling plates are amazing and their chicken and sweet corn soup is beautiful. Lovely team working here, and Saturday midday yum Cha is A+ :)

I'm so glad there's a GOOD yum cha restaurant out west in New Lynn, not as good as Grand Park in Greenlane or Grand harbour in the city but very much on par. The food was fresh and trolleys came out quickly and often. Tried the popular and classic, Chinese 'pineapple buns' for the first time and they were so good, it's a soft milk bread bun filled with custard and the topping is a sweet, crunchy, biscuit-like texture resembling a pineapple. It was still warm and just melts in your mouth.

We ordered a few different dishes and they all tasted pretty authentic except the Chinese pancakes fillled with cream and mango, other yum cha places do this dish better. The cream was over-whipped, mango tasted like it was from a can rather than fresh, and the crepe/pancake was off, perhaps too thick and it also had an unusually bright yellow appearance. But other than this, I loved all other dishes and will definitely be back!
Nicole Ye
How could Elegance Chinese restaurant in New Lynn was missed off the list I don't know. I have tried Yum Cha from almost all of the ones in Auckland and think Elegance Chinese restaurant is one of the best place. Their Duck and steamed dumplings are just very tasty and the price is quite reasonable. The parking is quite easy as well. I went out with my friend, only spent 40, with fully and satisfied belly back. Strongly recommend this one.
Sasha.Lin
Found this on Zomato, definitely loving this place. Great food, the shrimp dumplings are just so tasty. The food portion is huge, and quite affordable. If you are planning to go there, maybe should skip breakfast and the dinner before that. The staff are quite helpful and friendly as well, for sure will be back.

Been here couple times, cause close to me,food and service both OK,I like Yumcha, eating and chatting,it is good have a yumcha place in New Lynn, will be back……

Food: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Setting: 3/5

Visited Elegance Restaurant randomly one Sunday afternoon as we felt like yumcha. We had no idea this place existed. Whilst we did walk in during the busiest period, we settled for sharing a table with another family. We could have waited but we were HUNGRY !

All in all the food was quite delicious. Typical yumcha dishes. We ordered baskets of dumplings amongst others with a few plates from the kitchen of combination fried rice. We were not disappointed.

The only let down was the service. The carts would always go past our table & they may have been caused due to the fact we were in a corner that may usually be reserved & is quite hidden, so we had to keep having to wave the cart down. Mid Sunday afternoon was super busy, so I suggest booking a table for yourself rather than walk in. But if worst comes to worst they usually will accommodate you some how if you do walk in.

We will definitely be back 😁

Never knew there was a Chinese restaurant in New Lynn that had yumcha. Service was average. Quite pushy. Especially when you go in the weekends for yumcha. They have a one hour time restriction due to how busy they get so they time you the second you sit down and let you know when your time is up if they see you still eating or just siting there chatting with whoever you're with.

The food there is actually nice. Not some cheap rip off version of Chinese food like most places are out there. Although the egg tart was probably the worse one that I've had there. Undercooked pastry 👎🏼
Ethan Liaw
One of the better yum Cha around this area and price is reasonable! It is very busy during the weekend and the lady advise me to book before hand. Maybe because I turned up with out a booking but I was told I only had an hour on my table. This is rather disappointing to be rushed on a lazy Sunday lunch.
My family were dinner guests on a Friday night which was not super busy. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We ordered eight dishes and they came out in good time. In comparison to other chinese restaurants the portions were on the small side but each item was well presented and not dripping in oil which is great if you're health conscious like me. Flavours were a little basic to my liking and could do with some tweaking to enhance the star of each dish. My preference is for the food to have been served piping hot on warmed platters when brought to the table.....ours were going cold way too soon. Highlights of the evening were our steamed blue cod which was absolutely delicious and so were the prawns with cashews. Not really a fan of the barbeque pork which was far browner and drier to what I'm accustomed to. Overall I had higher expectations and hope that oneday soon the menu will live up to its name, however I would visit again for a casual dinner due to the convenient location, easy parking, and fast service. It wouldn't be my cup of tea for a special celebration.

Food was absolutely fantastic. Services were excellent. Every staff in that restaurant was so friendly. We would definitely come back soon!

Came to have a dinner with relatives from China. We sat at the large table 28. Very delicious dishes, Fresh & Yummy! We ordered quite a few seafood dish including the 3kg crayfish in 3 courses. People from my group highly praised the dishes such as Peking duck, crayfish, Geoduck clam and the steamed fish. The chef really did well. The waitresses were quite friendly and helpful. We will be back and recommend more friends to this new restaurant for sure!

One of the best restaurants in Auckland. Great Yum Cha , friendly staff, good customer service and tasty dim sum. You'll have to make reservations because the place gets so busy on Saturday and Sunday.

Dinner there is even better. Love their Peking duck and lobster dishes. Really affordable.

We came as a group booking and reserved 15 tables for a function (was very closed to booking out the whole place). These guys provided really great customers service the whole time and timed the dishes really well. These guys can handle the big functions. The have a VIP room if you want to have a more private gathering.

The best in the west for sure. Will definitely go back.

5 stars !!!!

I am very disappointed with this place. The food is average. Rung to book a table for yum char on Saturday. When we arrived was told only for 1 hr because it's Saturday. I would appreciate if they let us know earlier. Waiters were extremely rude. Just arrived and given a high chair, was just putting our baby into the high chair, one of them commented on us to move her right in and do it right away. When the cart came, politely told them, that's not what we want (the selection of yum char), this waitress yelled - SO WHAT DO YOU WANT?!. I was so shocked. At least NOT your attitude. Won't be coming back again. There are only certain level of rudeness you can tolerate. But not like this. We are paying customers, not begging customers.

We took our son and daughter in law for Yum Cha lunch on Anzac day. We had booked and the place was packed, but we only had two wait a minute or two to be seated. There was a great variety of food and it was delicious. This is a little Gem in New Lynn

Everything we ordered here was delicious! We booked a table for 2 at lunch time on a Thursday thinking it would be packed to the brim but fortunately the restaurant was big enough and didn't have too much congestion, not to mention plenty of workers working the yum Cha trolleys. Fast and reasonably priced! Definitely a hidden gem in west Auckland!

I have been to Elegance for both yum cha and dinner now so will be reviewing on both of these occasions. First of all, parking here is super convenient with free parking for 60 minutes less than a minutes walk away.

The yumcha on the weekends is apparently super busy (my parents have been here quite a bit), but I went on a weekday morning around 11:30. There were only a few tables in at this time! The food wasn't so bad, some dishes were definitely better than the rest. The beef omasum (ul pai yek) was probably the least favourite dish we got. It was darker than the ones I've eaten from other yum cha places, but wasn't as soft and nice either. The steamed rice noodles were really good though and bonus points for having icecream mochi on the menu! A lot of yum cha places don't have this and it's actually my favourite yum cha dessert ever. SO SO GOOD. The other yum cha dishes were standard in terms of taste and quality. They weren't the best dim sum I've had, but still nice and prices here are slightly cheaper than other places.

For dinner, we came on a Wednesday night. There were only four tables that evening. Service was great! We ended up ordering wrong and had way too much beef (3/4 dishes oops). The portion sizes were a lot smaller than other Chinese restaurants I've been to (they're probably the same as dominion road Chinese restaurant portions), but prices were a cheaper because of this. For four dishes, we paid $95 which is decent pricing and we had a lot of food left over. Two dishes were slightly too salty and I personally felt like the dishes were a bit too oily. They do have specials every night though, so the night we came they had a pot of pork meat and minced veges for $18 which was definitely worth it!

As we live in West Auckland, this place is super convenient for us. I can see us coming here for yum cha a few more times in the future, and I'd probably give them another shot for dinner as well and order different things. Probably not worth a very long drive if you don't live nearby though!

We tried this New yum Cha in new Lynn, easy to find and lots of parking (you will have to pay its $1 per hour which is pretty cheap) the place is new and clean lots of people luckily we booked for lunch. Staff were nice and friendly and timing of food going around was good. There wasn't much selection or maybe they didn't go to our table. Overall food was very good and fresh! Found a very small hair inside my Siomai (negative) but not a big deal and I couldn't be bothered telling the staff I just didn't eat it. They had air conditioning so it kept the room very cool but the food did go cold very quickly. Price wise for 6 people we paid $95 which is not bad in comparison to other yum char in the city, Will be back!

Appetizer was OK but they forget to cook our mains for more then half an hour wait. We had to remind them about our order which they apologised about. She told us that her duty manager forgot to give our order to the chef. Restaurant was pretty empty...so no excuse for this lazy behaviour.

I ordered chicken in oyster sauce. I could have got better meal at our local take away half the price. They put so much of those dried packet mushrooms which tasted horrible. (They put heaps of that mushroom in my meal...yucck...) My friend ordered the beef dish which was OK but the meat was tough and chewy.

Service was not really OK but while taking order the waitress was distracted by her colleague. She didn't excuse herself (didn't complete taking our order) but just walked away. Literally outside the restaurant to check out whatever was "happening" much more important.
I will not be going back. Not worth it.

Previous review was withdrawn due to inappropriateness according to Zomato.
Anyway, please pay attention to what you eat there if you don't wanna see extra protein in your food and poor customer service.

Needs a menu on line
Needs a website
Needs more images of food on recommended websites
Needs to stop staff smoking and spitting outside of restaurant while on break.
Needs to improve manners towards general public inquiring about restaurant.
Needs to hook up with social media (Facebook)

The newest yum Cha in New Lynn. We came on a weekday around midday and it was busy, which is a good sign, but not so much that we couldn't get a table. The door was opened for us by one of the staff and we were seated immediately. A good start.

The dim sum was very fresh, we saw it coming straight out of the kitchen to us. Portion sizes were very reasonable. The rice roll with prawn in particular was full of big prawn. The dim sum skin was a little thicker and harder than we liked but the filling portion made up for it. I also felt there wasn't enough vegetable options but we could have just missed that trolley.

The price was very reasonable for two people. We ordered extra to takeaway and we were surprised at how well priced it all was. We'll definitely be back and hope that they add some new dim sum to their staples.

This place is usually quite busy it seems, but our family was lucky to arrive last Sunday for lunch without a reservation due to the Santa Parade in town (yay!).

We were seated right near the kitchen, so we were the first to take our pick from each new cart.

They have the usual dim sum options, nothing different from other yum cha places around or fancy. However, everything was fresh.

After about a half hour, they kind of ran out of food for us to order and it was the same few items going around. At that point though, we could see the kitchen busily trying to make more food and push them out.

I would return again as they do beat the other places that offer yum cha close to home.

We just had yum char lunch today and the food and service were amazing! Friendly staff, will definitely be going back! Food was freshly made and a constant flow, you weren't left waiting.

Terrible customer service, sub par food in comparison with other restaurants Their kitchen was beyond slow I wouldn't recommend to anyone except maybe food safety!
