Review Brick Lane - New Lynn

Tiatia Family
The food was just beautiful, from entrees through to the mains and dessert! Lamb shank perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. Seafood chowder was amazing, pumpkin (soup of the day) mussel pot, everything was delicious we definitely recommend. I’m not a big fan of the deserts but my wife loved it! Shoutout to our sister, chef Nanalisi 🤗Hope to be back here again on our next visit to NZ. 5 stars from us ☺️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved the atmosphere - Family friendly. We had a couple of 5 yr olds with us. Able to cater for our large group. The meals are generous in size we we were fed quite well. Friendly staff who allowed us at the last minute helped us celebrate my niece’s birthday.

Having been there in the early days and not being impressed, I went tonight with guarded optimism. And it definitely exceeded my expectations. The service was friendly, quick and professional. They were welcoming regulars with such joy. It was lovely to see. The food was great. We had duck, chowder and round. I'm an ex chef so I'm a bit picky and would have cooked the beans less but it was all delicious. My dining companions gave it a solid 10/10. We will be back!

Bricklane had a great atmosphere, they have a range of options and different specials set for each day of the week. The staff are great and helpful. Food tastes great but food some of the options you feel s bit let down. Chilli prawns from the starters was covered in sweet chilli sauce on a bed of couscous that was more on the over done side. The rest of the entrees were ok BUT I think they do better with their mains. The market fish was amazing and a great meal portion. Their scotch fillet had many trimming options and was cooked as requested, the pork belly was cooked great. For us the entrée and mains were enough to be full and left no space for dessert, next time we'll plan it differently 😉

Great service, nice ambience and tasty food. I had a twice cooked pork belly with super crispy skin that was delicious! My wife really enjoyed the crispy duck. My kids had a classic fish and ships with crumbled fish and chips, while the youngest had a chicken, bacon and mushroom fettuccine. Everything was spot on!

Great service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. I always really enjoy going out for date night at Bricklane, have never left disappointed. Thanks again!

Dinner for two . I had lamp ribs $25.00 and my friend had beer battered fish and chips $28.00 both meals were delicious . The service was prompt and efficient. The waitress went out of her way to talk with us and make us feel welcome. The restaurant’s theme is the old crown lynn crockery factory and brick o brac of that era is prominent on the walls

The food was amazing, big servings and very tasty. Service was great. When we ordered our meals we were told they were very busy and wait time would be approximately 30 - 40 minutes. Food was on the table in 20 minutes, great effort.

Came in for a midday lunch here and was definitely not disappointed! Lunchtime service here is nice and peaceful, there were still people in the restaurant but was nice to have lunch when it was a bit quietier than dinner service. The food here was most certainly amazing. Their portion sizes are quite large for the cost. I had the pork which was cooked to perfection, almost didnt need a knife to cut it with! They have a great menu selection, something for everyone. They also have certain specials on different nights. During the week there are 15 buck lunch specials and specials for weekend lunches too. They also have a pretty sustanial range of cocktails served in mason jar type cups l. Those who ordered these in our group seemed to enjoy them! Parking here is easy, plenty of parks to choose from not far from the door. Also plenty of disabled parks too.

Have been back here again with a party of 17.... 5 under 10 yr olds and the staff and management went out of their very busy evening to make sure the little ones enjoyed themselves as much as us adults ( not that I claim to be an adult. ) They brought out some toys to keep the juniors happy until the food was served. The food was exquisitely delicious.... thank God for doggy bags!! Thank you all for an amazing 50th birthday celebration for my wife. Can't recommend this establishment enough. Try yourself, personally 100% satisfied !!!!

we haven't been dinning in new lynn for many years....my wife and I had a fantastic lunch with good staff and service..will be back

No complaints here, top notch service and excellent food. Went in on a sunday and place was nice and quiet. Waiters and manager were all very welcoming and polite. The chef had his A game on and all the food was beyond perfection. Great to have such a quality establishment in new lynn.

The food is to die for! Best meal I've had for a long time. I'd half eaten mine before remembering to take a picture lol sorry about that. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Lovely warm atmosphere. I had the lamb rump followed by triple chocolate brownie. I highly recommend this restaurant
Liam Stewart
Food was amazing! Customer service wasn’t the greatest but everything else was really fast and great.
Pam S
The restaurant had a nice vibe and the service was good. Not the best eye fillet steaks. The fries and salad were good and the portion sizes were perfect. The two for one desserts were amazing - sticky date pudding and banoffee pie.

I was here a few weeks ago for lunch. We had not booked, but the staff was kind enough to squeeze us in. The staff was friendly and had some great customer service skills. Food was amazing and portions were great. The mashed potato in my meal was very tasty and creamy! We finished our meal with a dessert that was very yummy too. Would highly recommend them and would visit them again :) Cheers

A good range of meals, great portions. Nice, well spaced dining areas. Only 4 for service because our meal was over the slow time, so not fully staffed.
Betsy Wang
Great food, decent portion and a very reasonable price. Always loved their fried chicken, but tonight we ordered duck and miso salmon - they were so satisfying!!!! You get half of a duck and it was perfectly juicy with a sweet mandarin source. Thanks Bricklane!

Had an excellent meal, staff were lovely!<br/>Little bit loud due to the rugby game.
Susan Harvey
The service was shocking, so nice it was fake & insulting. Three of us were dinning - one friend received her meal while the two of us had to ask a waiter where our meals were. Then they came out rushed & burned. Not nice
Neha Mahabir
Absolutely lovely food. Best duck in town! And Moroccan chicken with couscous was lovely. Great environment and good location. Definitely recommend this place.

Been here a couple of times and I have to admit I've enjoyed every meal I've had. Meals are a decent size. The fish and chips would have to be my favorite followed by the chicken burger and salt and pepper squid. A little disappointed that they have taken off Mac 3 Wolves off the tap.

Since we gathered our wedding ceremony and reception in bricklane, it's our tradition to celebrate wedding anniversary every year there. The food never disappoint us, we ordered our favourite Lamb Shank, Sirloin Steak, Fish and Chips for our son. The lady who serve us is very friendly and she made our anniversary more especial and memorable thank you for the special dessert you gave to us much appreciate it..
Jacqueline O'Rourke
The ambience, food, prices and waiting staff were all good.   We were a large party of 13, we had booked early to be sure of a table. We waited 15 minutes for our orders to be taken after which we waited another 45 minutes for our food to arrive.  Far too long. <br/>Every other table was served before we were though we had arrived before most of them. We were very disappointed with this level of service.
Manoj Patel
Staff are friendly. Waited 30mins for a burger, fish and chips. Went for lunch, The venue wasn't busy but that's quite a long wait time for a simple meal. Burger was bland, pattie tastes like something from the frozen section from the supermarket. Should've went to BK next door instead.
Willy
Food was great. Staff were excellent and genuine. Nothing else too add other than will return here again. Great with kids as well is always a bonus
Brandon Li
Went there for dinner tonight. The place is very spacious and the waiters are quite good, friendly service. Food wise the starters are nice however the steak is a bit overcooked. We ordered medium rare but steak came as medium. We got a voucher for 2 for 1 main.
Barbara Salazar
Food tasted ok, but got a piece of hair in my salad and we waited for 1 hour until we got our food. Terrible experience. Never coming back. Piece of of advice: dont come here unless you have heaps of spare time and are willing to wait for an hour :)
Jodie Goodwin
Food was good, the aioli tasted like it was off when it’s usually really good and we had to wait an hour and a half! For our meals very sad about the wait time and we were almost ready to walk out. We should have
Shane Naera
Loved the spicy ribs, wife loved the fish of the day. Nice seating and friendly staff, I would give this place a 4 star, but because not long after we left my wife had real bad stomach pains, and had to rush to the ladies room, she refuses to come back....shame I liked it
Lana
Very kind staff, very clean restaurant. My sister, mum and I had got there a little after 11 and once we ordered the restaurant started to get a little busy. I understand why, the food is great, the price is reasonable. Would recommend to anyone!! 10/10

Really nice ribs with a lovely marinade and crisp well seasoned chips. The ambience is cosy and the service is top notch and friendly. A place I definitely will be coming back to. Good job!

Been to Bricklane on many occasions and always found the staff friendly and food fantastic. Service can be slow at times as they are always busy. Nice clean place to go with family or friends. Avi the Manager is super efficient. Highly recommend Bricklane.<br/>

Extremely late service for half of our orders. Good taste in Quesadillas but poor in Pasta. Also cocktail was average. Staff was not so cooperative.

I've known this place for years but didnt dine here til now. Restaurant was full and cosy. They have a nice private area for functions which can seat around 45 people for dining which is where we were. They have activites for kids which is a bonus. Kids meals are set at $9 and very good portions. For the mains I was abit disappointed, I didnt like my medium rare steak tasting burnt on the outside although steak was cooked well. Ribs were great but didnt have much meat on them and there should have been more ribs for the price. Coleslaw was soggy and fries were bland. Fish had too much batter. For the price of the mains I expected better. Even though I didnt really enjoy food I will recommend this place because it has a great atmosphere for social gatherings.
Bonny Sapphire
One of my partners easy stop in’s! Pretty standard kiwi comfort, pub style menu! I go with the chowder! He goes with the ribs or chicken burger. Calamari is good too! Have a had a couple of long waits here when place wasn’t necessarily too busy. Decent place for a family dinner or group booking. It is what is it - big portions, pub dining vibe. Will see you again! Thanks

No service,  the restaurant on a Saturday night was not even half full.Only contact with waitstaff was when meals were brought to our table and when plates were  cleared at end of meal, didn't ask us how our meals were. My steak cooked to my liking, but black burnt bitter skin, I scraped it off. My friend's steak was not blackened.<br/>I paid my bill, was given the wrong bill, nearly double the cost of my bill.<br/>Will not return.

Went here last night and the food was really good and the meals are huge. The service was great. We had the fish & chips which came with 4 bits of fish, chips and a salad. The twice cooked pork belly with kumara mash and savoy cabbage. The steak (which was enormous) with salad and chips. Everything was great, was very impressed. Good local spot to eat and will definitely be back. Was also, very busy for 5pm on a Tuesday night.

Best duck dish I've had in forever. Recommend it highly. Atmosphere was nice. A bit pricey for the steak quality but the duck was worth it. Also the cocktail jars are delicious. The honey one is amazing.
Tina Cherrall
We had high tea here which was quite nice and fresh. It was a little disappointing that they didn't use nice cups, cutlery and plates. This is part of what makes a high tea special. I would suggest also providing tea pots and cups to add to the experience.
Tequila Wilson
Staff where a bit rude, the food took a long time to come out approx 40 mins but the food made up for it would deffently come back only because of the good food.
Marcus Lau
Visited this restaurant twice. The first visit was rather unpleasant as the waiting staff was quite abrupt and unfriendly. The second time was a much more pleasant dining experience. Probably the unfriendly waiting staff whom we encountered during our first visit was no longer working there... Hehehe...<br/><br/>The foods tasted pretty average for both my visits. The waiting time for the foods was beyond reasonableness for both the occasions. The waiting time was more than 45 minutes averagely.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 6/10<br/>Service : 6/10<br/>Price : 6/10<br/>Ambience : 7/10<br/>

Came here for work lunch. Pre-ordered 8 lunches and 4 sides and all of them came on time and served freshly. The portion size is really reasonable and great value. Great place for lunch.

A bit on the pricey end but well worth a treat. Staff are friendly and always willing to help. The brownies at this place is highly recommended

We came here for lunch with a group for a birthday. Great food. Loved the entree kebabs. And got a great amount of sauce with my steak. Fantastic. The staff also organised a birthday cake for the day. Thank you very much. Would come back here. Really enjoyed it

Great meal, generous portions and great friendly service. We were out to celebrate our wedding anniversary, nothing booked, we saw Bricklane, looked inviting with the lights around the outside, thought we’d check it out. A lovely feel place.

Came here for a work dinner. We drinks to start with. When they brought them over, mine was a totally different kind of wine so they had to go back and get another one. We then ordered entrees and while waiting for entrees we ordered our mains. They came a while after this and said they had forgotten our entrees so it would be a while. We waited nearly a an hour and a half total for the entrees and then while we were still eating them our mains were bought out!? I shared the crumbed Camembert with plum chutney for an entree which was very nice and I enjoyed, good flavour and the cheese was cooked perfectly. For main, I had the crispy skin duck with Mandarin sauce and mustard mash. The duck didn't have much going on the skin wasn't crispy, the sauce was awful, just like some tinned mandarins stuck in the plate, the only real saving Grace was the mustard mash was really yummy. This place may have just been having a bad day service wise, our waitress was really lovely to us though. I don't know, if this was better I would have given a better score. I'd rather give 2.5 because some food was really nice. Don't think I'd want to come back though

Came here for lunch with 2 of my mates for the $15 lunch menu. I ordered fish and chips and the other orders were beef burger and caesar salad with salmon.<br/><br/>My meal was ok, fish was crispy and the batter was light. There weren't many chips with it thpugh and the coleslaw was soggy and overdressed. I got the best one though.<br/><br/>My mates not a fussy eater AT ALL amd she was real disappointed with her burger. I tastrd it and it was just super bland. Pattie was really processed and spongy and sausagy like those typical pre-purchased in bulk ones. It had no flavour and the other salad fillings were pretty scarce. She wneded up putting all her chip sauve and aioli in the bun to try give it a boost. That was disappointing.<br/><br/>My mate got caesar salad with salmon so it cost $20. Do not think what he got was worth $20. It was like what you order out of a cabinet caesar salad chucked in a bowl with some little bit of broken up salmon and 1 nicely poached egg. I would pay $12 for that at most because i could get the same salad with more croutons and bacon bits ay Hollywood cafe and bakery.<br/><br/>The service this day wasn't very good either. We had to go up to the bar several times to get our own water and buy some drinks. We had to chase up missing cutlery.<br/><br/>Maybe something was going on that day and we just had a one off bad time. I have been here with workmates for the same lunch though and the table was split half and half with some lovig their meals and others being really disappointed. I will come back here though because my parents come here for dinner alot and they raaaave about how much they enjoy it. Maybe different people doing each service or maybe they've cut corners on the quality of the food to service the $15deal for lunch.

My wife and I have been looking forward to trying this restaurant because we've heard good things about it, so one night we finally did. My wife ordered the soup of the day and calamari to start which arrived very shortly, my glass of wine soon followed. Ten to fifteen minutes into it, I figured the rest of the food should have come by then, which is really just the Caesar salad for my wife and a medium Sirloin steak for me. I didn't want to be unreasonable but most of the tables were empty when we ordered, then people started coming in. I was anxious because we didn't have a reservation and the waiter told us coming in the table was reserved for someone so we have about two hours to dine which was more than enough, another fifteen minutes have passed still no mains I had to follow up with another waiter. Mains for other tables who got there after us started arriving and ours was nowhere to be found. Our waiter came to us shortly and informed us that our they're working on our order and to be fair did apologize. Though it would have been nice to know what caused the delay because I suspect something went wrong in the kitchen for the food to take that long. He also said we won't need to be moved but at that point but I was so hungry I didn't really care. The mains arrived eventually which I tried to enjoy as much as I could. It wouldn't be fair to say the food wasn't good, it was in fact great and I enjoyed my steak but the wait was to much and ruined the dining experience for us. I'm giving 3 stars for the experience, but it will try again next time in the hopes that the food and experience will be on the same level and hopefully can change this to 4 stars.

I love this place 😍 Their food is always perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. The portion sizes are VERY generous. The staff are lovely and very attentive without being intrusive. I eat here often and I’ve always left satisfied and I accredit that to Bricklanes consistency. I’d give them ten stars if I could.

Update: Restaurant did not honour their advertising specials and partnerships.<br/><br/>Manager was not helpful and didn't honour their own partnership rules.<br/><br/>Will not dine here again. Absolute lies.

Amazing food, got what you paid for. Was so much food could not even finish. Place was busy when we went but we managed to find a place. Have nothing to complain about everything was perfect . Would definitely recommend.

Visited Bricklane on a Wednesday night for my birthday. The wait for thr food took quite a while and they mucked up the order so some of the food arrived earlier than others, but the staff were very aplogetic. I ordered the Fish and Chips and the Passionfruit Collins Cocktail. The serving size of the meal was huge and very good value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste, aroma and presentation of the meal. The drink was also good but a little bit too tarty for my liking. Overall it was a good experience and I would return again.

Great ambiance, very child-friendly, generous servings and good food. Appreciate that they give away kid’s packs to entertain the children while waiting for the food to arrive. The kids loved it. We had the Fish of the day, Twice cooked pork belly, kid’s menu - fish and chips and chicken nuggets and chips and baked cheesecake for dessert. The mains were delicious. The meat of the pork belly was tender and the crackling was very crispy. The fish and the prawns were perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. The cheesecake was ok although the base was a little hard. We are keen to go back to try the other dishes.

Love it here! <br/>Been a few times and ate, last time we had the ribs, the portion size was huge, and they were so tasty, with the meat just falling off the bone. <br/>Great staff and great atmosphere

Great restaurant to dine in with your friends, family and child friendly. Love the indoor outdoor setting. Food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and friendly! Would definitely dine in again!

Everything tastes so fresh and that you are actually paying for the quality I got the lamb shanks and they were amazing also the starters were amazing to staff is crack up as well always cracking jokes also the the range of alcoholic beverages is on point espresso martini is my favourite.

The set up here is quite nice. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. The staff are helpful and accommodating. Food is decent not overly fancy but good portion sizes.
Jgurl
Went here for dinner. Great service. Enjoyed our meals, especially the ribs. Servings and portions ate very generous, biggest serving of rump steak I have seen to date.
Rui
Descent amount, but maybe because the restaurant was fairly big and they're probably too busy on a Thursday night, we waited quite long. And food was average. Staff were nice though.
Pat
Not many vegeterian options. Had the vegetarian pasta which was decent. Service was great and decor was nice. Would eat there again just more vegetarian options would be nice.

Been here twice ordering the same thing.<br/>I ordered the pork belly. <br/>First time the pork was cooked to perfection. Melt in your mouth perfection.<br/>So next time I went here i ordered the same expecting the same mouth watering pork belly. But the second time was not as nice. It was dry and a bit disappointing. But still a delicious dish but I was soooo looking forward to getting the same dish.

Entertainment voucher used!<br/><br/>Food: Oh sh** the lamb shanks (2) on mash and gravy was perfect! Tender but not oily meat with soft, buttery mash and a, yes, generous serving of gravy!<br/><br/>Locale: Nice restaurant, points for proper lighting. Looked pretty fancy.<br/><br/>Service: Chick was really nice, but have to be nit picky and say it took a little long for the meals to arrive (there was a group that ordered ahead of us).<br/><br/>Overall: Happy with the quality and quantity!
Nathalie
Dined here on Thursday night using First Table. The place has a country/pub feel and the staff were all lovely. We ordered Arancini balls and lamb kofta for entree, both dish was good flavours were average and the serving was huge! For mains we had duck and steak and duck dish and steak were both HUGE serving and they were both yummy and well presented. Overall we really enjoyed it and it was good to have the first table voucher!!

Went for Saturday lunch. It wasn't super busy but had to wait for over an hour for our lunch to be served. Food was average nothing special. Gravy tasted like a sachet one and dished up like a home meal. Baked pear was nice. Steak was tender but no rock salt or sauce or anything. Service was ok but the staff didn't even look at us when he said thank you at the cashier after paying our bill. Not going back.

Came here for a family dinner. We ordered 2 steaks (1 with garlic & butter and 1 with mushroom sauce), lamb shanks, and venison. The venison, although tasted good with nice seasoning, was a bit disappointing for the texture as it felt like mince. The lamb shanks was probably the best one for the night even though the saltiness kind of balanced out with the mashed kumara. The meat was cooked for a little bit too long. The steaks however, had a strong charcoal grill after taste. Although cooked as how we wanted, we didn't expect the slight bitter after taste. The wait time was very long as well. $60 for two is ideal.<br/><br/>Taste - 6/10<br/>Quality - 7/10<br/>Size - 7/10<br/>Price - 6/10<br/>Service - 6.5/10

Pork Belly was pretty mint and would rate it. Didn't have to wait long for food which was appreciated by the crew. Solid night all around and will make another appearance at some point in the near future.

Went here for a work lunch so had a particular menu..staff was awesome really helpful and really nice. I ordered the Thai green curry, sauce was amazing, chicken was spicy which suited me fine, the only downfall for me was the amount of onions in my dish, there was a lot! <br/>Dessert was amazing! Massive serving so definitely worth your money. Would visit again but will try the southern fried chicken, my colleague had this and it looked delish!

Went here for dinner last night on a dinner date. Layout of the place is nice, I liked the decor and the colours. Service was prompt and friendly. Entree=Garlic & Cheese bread $5. Well worth it, great tasting and a good quantity. Deep fried camembert and plum sauce $12=Tasted good but for the don't think it's worth it. Main=Prime Sirloin Steak served with chips, salad and garlic sauce $32=Absolutely delicious, great quality and happy with the serving size. Would definitely purchase this again. We had a coupon for a complimentary main when another main was purchased so basically got one dinner free. So chuffed about that. Overall experience, really happy with it and would recommend this restaurant. Hope to come back in the future.

I been to bricklane last week with my boyfriend for a dinner date .It took nearly 2 hours to get our dinner ready and the service wasn't great ! I never gonna recommend anyone Bricklane anymore .Our date got spoiled.

Came to this place on Friday night with a bunch a work mates that made my night awful. Which lead to an average experience with this place. I'll try to be positive as I can. I also didn't take many photos due to being on social media sites. (Was blocking out the negativity). So here goes: <br/>It was my first time here and I gotta say that it does get very busy. The waiter was very good at her job keeping us informed on how long our food would be. Asking us if there was anything else we wanted. The menu didn't have many things I liked so I skipped the entree and desert and only got a main which was chicken Brest on mash potato with some broccoli and this tomato pesto (that was a yucky). The food took a long time to come out but I could understand that it was busy. The atmosphere of the place was dim and played music that didn't suit. To me it felt like a country club with pop music. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a romantic night but good for a get together. I would say to look at the menu before coming here and based on my experience I would be coming back to this place. Sorry guys. It's not the staff who put me off it was the people I was with. <br/>

We were at Bricklane today for a family lunch, the place was quite busy, there were a few tables with families. Overall impression of the place was quite dark and gloomy, but it's not a bad place. <br/><br/>The lunch menu was quite limited I thought.. but they do have their bar menu. Some of us ordered the bar menu and they made it into a platter, I ordered their steak and Guiness pot pie. Food took a while to arived, and it was ok, not too bad... the mushy peas that came with the pie was probably the star of the show, everything else was quite average. <br/><br/>Will i come back? Maybe... but definitely not in a hurry <br/><br/>

Some things never seem to leave West Auckland. Bogans, Holden Commodores, Mullets, and traffic lights are sights were all too used to seeing. Bricklane also falls into this category, a stamp which seems to have been around as long as West Auckland itself. <br/><br/>I first came here for a birthday, and was excited having driven past so many times without ever going in. I found parking rather easily and was welcomed by the warm, old fashioned abiance of the restaurant. <br/><br/>We ordered mains straight away. Our service was very friendly, but our meals did take over 35 minutes to arrive. Everyone at my table was very impressed with the portion sizes, especially after a longer than usual wait. <br/><br/>I had lamb which was cooked beautifully, and served on a middle eastern salad. I devoured the dish, each spoonful leaving me more satisfied than the next. <br/><br/>Despite the large portion, there's always room for desert. I ordered a pavlova (another kiwi stamp) which was served with a very sweet passion fruit ice cream. A great combination. <br/><br/>We were all very satisfied after a meal, we now understand why Bricklane has been around for so long, and look forward to coming back for the next birthday.

Waited ages for a table even though half the tables were empty. So enjoyed drinks at the bar. <br/>Waited 30 mins for starter 45 mins for main. <br/>Starter was shrimp cocktail and was excellent. <br/>Main of a steak with mushroom sauce and other main was salmon fillet.<br/>Both were excellent. Beautifully presented, wonderful flavours. Plenty to eat. <br/>Only the long waiting times pulled the score down. <br/>

I have always had fantastic food and excellent service at Bricklane. Sometimes the food can take a little bit of time to get to the table but it's always worth the wait!

Went for the mussels they were very nice the menu was on the light side ie no steak :) perhaps given it waa a public holiday it waa nice decor I found it so so may visit again on a weekday <br/><br/>Nothing was at fault

First time there for lunch today. Food was so so but but waited for almost an hour. My friend asked the waitress how long our food will be, the waitress answered rudely..others also waited that long and walked away without any apology. The table beside us arrived later but got their food earlier than us, first time and will be our last time going there, will be going back to our favorite restaurants at The Brickwork.
Aston Ave
The food is great normally, but if you're playing the pokie machines then the service is terrible. After finishing my meal and going to the gaming room I informed them that one of their machines was opening by itself. I reported it to the manager (who looked 18 and couldn't have cared less) that it kept opening. She tried to fix it and then implied that I had broken it which I strenuously denied to no avail, she was determined to infer that I had broken it, going so far as telling me it wasn't broken till I touched it, which I found thoroughly offensive. I had 5 dollars credit on the machine and she wiped it and told me that I had lost it and couldn't get it back. When I requested my money back she told me she would have to take my details, name, address, etc, when all she had to do was pay me like any other establishment has done in the past, knowing that 5 dollars was on the machine. When she refused to serve me at the bar and refund me, instead choosing to ignore me and serve someone else, I grew frustrated and questioned why she wouldn't pay me what she wiped on the machine. At this stage another bartender interjected without knowing what was going on and told me that I was out of line, and needed to leave the premises. He also looked about 18, and didn't know what he was doing. I never got my money back in the end. I just left.<br/><br/>I and my family and relatives and friends have been here numerous times and have always felt welcomed and always enjoyed the food, but I will not be going back. It was a horrible experience. <br/><br/>Not recommended.

A birthday for granddad with 8 kids and 8 adults.  We were seated and soon attended by waitstaff.  Pleasant and helpful service.  Meals came promptly for the children, followed by the adults' meals.  Steak options came to the table cooked to preference.  Fish was on the menu as beer-battered, but it was no problem to opt for a pan-fried version.  We were somewhat disappointed, at first, to learn when we arrived, that we needed to be gone in 2 hours' time as a previously cancelled table had rebooked and it was ours that was provided.  But front-of-house staff I spoke to  when I paid appreciated that they should have let us know before we arrived, with a phonecall or at the time of booking.     We brought our own cake to celebrate.  It was really excellent that the restaurant provided plates and extra cutlery along with a FREE dessert for my father for his birthday.  That is hospitality.  That is what customers remember.  Thank you, Bricklane.  Again, we had a lovely night.

We booked their private room for a function recently.  Overall the service provided by the waitresses/waiters that looked after us was great. Charles & Ti - you guys were awesome by the way!! Food was okay as well (although there was a delay in getting food out - kids were hungry and kept waiting despite us asking that the children's meals be sooner).  There was one particular  let down was the bar staff member (one in particular) who seemed to have an attitude when we complained about the delays in getting  drinks. Ordered drinks in the private function room, 40 minutes later, still nothing. We then decided we'd go up to the bar and order our drinks.  It was busy but because some of our guests complained about the delays, this staff member at the bar kept us waiting longer, continued to serve others and just ignored us as we stood around waiting to be served.  Very disappointing as this was a let down for the remainder of the team who were brilliant!
Foodie Chronicles
We ordered the Lamb Rump and Camembert Chicken which sounded amazing to us when we read them on the menu, however, they fell a bit short in flavour and in all honesty were quite average. Nothing to make us say wow.The lamb rump was also quite small in comparison to lamb rumps we have had at other restaurants.Service was friendly and attentive.

The interior of Bricklane is very undertone and relaxing, perfect for a dinner setting. The waitress and the manager were absolutely lovely to me and my family, courteous, polite and conversational, but unfortunately the meal just didn't hold up. <br/>Four meals, three entrees and two sides were ordered. The mains were fairly nice and satisfying, but the entrees were the most average thing I have ever seen. The seafood chowder looked as if it had come out of a Campbell's instant soup can, been poured into a bowl, and microwaved. The staff, however, did rectify this; upon stating the problem, one entree was refunded (there were two seafood chowders ordered). One of the sides never turned up - it was not charged onto the check at the end, but nonetheless it was completely disregarded. The wait for the meal was incredibly slow, at least twenty five minutes for the entree, and twenty five between the entree and the main. <br/>Dessert was not ordered as I was not prepared to wait another half an hour for it, so I went to New World and got a cheesecake there instead. Speed up please!<br/><br/>Thank you to the two lovely ladies who served us, you were very hospitable when confronted about the problems.

All in all, a nice place. Our waitress was a bit clumsy (I think she was new) although it didn't affect our experience, she was polite and accommodating. I ordered the twice cooked pork belly w/ apple fritters and my girlfriend ordered the scotch fillet w/ scallops, prawns and sauteed spinach. Portion wise, the meals were pretty decent - loved the apple fritters and both the pork and steak were cooked perfectly. Really chill vibe, casual yet elegant. Beautiful decor and stone fireplace. Parking is definitely not an issue seeing as it's situated beside the old New Lynn cinemas.

My husband and I ordered pan fried tarakihi which was delicious.<br/>However we waited a long time for our orders to be taken. The restaurant was understaffed and the staff need more training.<br/>The staff who were working were under a lit if pressure to keep up.<br/>The premises are very dark and gloomy and would benefit from a makeover in lighter colours.

Met a friend here for brunch with our babies at 12 and it was heaving.. took over an hr to bring our squid and tacos which shouldn't have required that long! Because our table was in the middle of the restaurant we didn't feel comfortable breastfeeding and both had to go into our cars to feed because food took so long and babies getting grizzly! Meals were tasty but wouldn't visit again with babies.

My partner and I saw the menu online and immediately were intrigued to try this place out! We turned up on a Wednesday night half an hour early for our booking and they were more than happy to take us. At the time it wasn't too packed but when we asked to sit at another table, purely because the tables were almost on top of each other and we could hear the conversation at the table next to us, the waiter denied us as the tables were reserved for 3 or more people. We made do listening to the loud ladies next door. Our order was taken by a waiter with mediocre service within the first ten minutes of being seated and the entrees came out about 20 minutes following that. Between that time however, we noticed a family leave the restaurant as they had not been served since we'd arrived. Unfortunately the poor service continued throughout the evening as an elderly couple next to us were seated but notably not given any water and their orders were not taken until at least 15 minutes after they'd arrived, where another table nearby (who arrived afterwards) were tended to first. The better waiter had apologised to the couple (which again, we heard the whole conversation) and explained that they were experiencing a few difficulties. Moving on to the food: We ordered risotto balls (with pumpkin and mozzarella) and crumbed Camembert served with roast plum chutney. My partner and I enjoyed both entrees and agreed the chutney was a highlight with the Camembert. For mains we ordered the chargrilled sirloin with horseradish sauce accompanied with fries and a mesclun salad. The steak was medium rare as requested but we would've preferred a mushroom sauce as an option. The filo parcel was a treat, filled with smoked chicken, spinach, mozzarella, feta, pumpkin and sundried tomatoes. I requested to have it served on kumara mash instead of roast potatoes which they were happy to do, however when it came out the filo sat on roast potatoes. When I asked about it the waiter who had obviously completely forgotten, arranged for a bowl of mash to come out. The filo was tasty though so I didn't mind having the mash come out a little later. We finished the evening with the banoffee pie to share and I highly recommend you share as it is very rich but also very delicious! Overall, the food was tasty and reasonably priced with pretty decent portion sizes and daily specials, however the service is the main let down for this restaurant. They need more hands on deck for the amount of people dining. I hope they can improve on this as the food is decent and I'd like to think we'll be back. <br/>

Great family dinner last week for mums birth day. Fast and friendly service and excellent food all round. Will definitely be coming back again

We had a family celebration lunch with 17 people at Brick Lane. The food was good generally except for one tough schnitzel, and came out in a timely manner. Children's meals excellent value. The drinks service and the service in general was below par. We had to ask to get our orders taken. After waiting over 20 minutes in a seemingly very quiet restaurant for our drinks, we discovered it was quicker to go to the bar and collect them off the bar ourselves, rather than waiting for the waitstaff to deliver our (by then flat) beers and bubbles. A low point was a waiter coming to the table announcing "chicken pasta" to blank looks, then realised it was a salad, and commented "same fuckin difference"!!

Had a great pan fried fish, potatoes and salad lunch on Tuesday with a client and left a file behind.I phoned and the waitress had put the file in the office.Drove back today (about a half hour drive) to retrieve it and decided to have the meal again on my own!It was very tasty and delicious - keep it up.

Been here for a few times and service and food has been great. The last visit not so much. My friend who ordered the chicken was served a lamb instead because of miscommunication. Steak was very chewy and was only warm when served. Definitely room for improvement.

I find this place a bit strange.....I've attempted to go 4 times and they are never serving food or you ask for a table, they look round their empty place and then say yes, but there is a wait on food....? <br/>I have to say now that I've actually managed to eat there, the food is great! Really delicious, huge portions and really reasonably priced. Service was pretty average, I'm not sure if I'd go again, there wasn't much of an atmosphere and I'm still not sure when they serve food, it's easier to go somewhere that's either open or closed!

Group of 14 dined last night, bread and dips should have been on the table at 5:45pm arrived 6:20pm, person that received their main first, had finished before the last person received theirs. Desserts ordered and by 8:45pm still had not arrived, original waitress had gone home, then manageress advised the order had been lost, not good. Food was OK but the rest was a complete shambles, excuse was their was a group of 48 in another room, not a good excuse.

First of all the service. The service was good thanks to our waiter Charles, he did an excellent job. The other wait staff was okay. <br/><br/>I visited Bricklane yesterday with my sister and niece. We came for lunch and also got dessert. <br/>Lunch was $15 and desert was $9 their Thursday special. I got the pulled pork soft taco, it was really delicious!! My sister got the chicken burger that was yummy full of flavours, the cheese went well with the cranberry sauce. My niece got chicken nugget and fries. <br/>Our food overall was yum and would visit again. <br/><br/>Desert was the best!! The banofee pie was delicious it was way better than the brownies. However what made the brownies and banoffee pie good was the ice cream. <br/>

I visited Bricklane for desert a couple of weeks ago, and the banoffee pie is absolutely divine. The service is great, and the interior is well-presented and classy. Bricklane is the perfect place to relax with a few friends and a couple of drinks. I will definitely be back to try a proper meal here.

Salt and pepper squid was the freshest most tender I've ever had and nice to see it presented in a different way to the usual under seasoned squid so many others do. The curry was a pleasant surprise for a European restaurant this was a genuine Indian curry - yum!

Friendly staff, nice and tidy restaurant and the food has always been well up to scratch. We go here often for family birthdays as we live out west and it is nice not to have to travel too far for a good quality restaurant. Will keep coming back, keep it up Bricklane :)

Love the $15 lunches that they have, great portion sizes. I had the Chicken Parmigiana and it was very tasty I even had to take some of it home because it was so filling

Have had this place bookmarked for agessss! Brick lane is a really casual pub grub restaurant with a really nice atmosphere to it. Came in after 9pm and the place was packed. While waiting for a table I had a fluffy duck cocktail which was AMAZING ! my new favourite. I knew the waiter so the service was good, and he recommend the fish, lamb, steak or chicken. The food took a little while to come out but probably because it was busy. My partner had the chicken which he couldn't stop raving about, he loved the pineapple relish and I had the fish of the day which was really nice but I found there was to much salad and not enough of the fish itself. I would come again as I had a really good night out!

After returning to Bricklane after a few years I thought I would order my favourite dish . The service was rather lacklustre and The char grilled steak came out after a tedious 45 minute wait. I ordered it medium rare but unfortunately it came out well done which was a disappointment that meant that I had to re-wait while they fixed the meal. An easily avoidable mistake means I probably won't be returning

First time dining at this side of town with my beautiful friend, the place was tidy, service awesome. We ordered lamb shanks and lamb rump.. Wait about 20 minutes for food And the food was nicely cook and yummy... Quite large portions too but we both staving so we clean up the plate.. And the price was good for 2 with food and drinks.. Go check it out when you in New Lynn!!

Went here for dinner with a group. The food was great and they were very accommodating for the young child we had with us but the service left a lot to be desired. Simple request like a dessert menu were simply forgotten and the food took a very long time to be served despite the restaurant only being around a third full. We were not offered an apology when we mentioned it to the maître d', but simply told there were a lot of customers in that night. One of the entrees, a soup of the day, was not served with the other entrees, rather brought out after all the mains.

Came here on a Sunday night.. Service was a little slow. Food was yummy plus good servings. I enjoyed smoked chicken filo and my partner had lamb shanks. Will go back. :)

Came for the Saturday $15 lunch specials. Hadn't been here in 10 years so decided to give it another go. <br/>I had the Pan fried fish, salad and roasted potatoes. My friend had the steak sandwich. Have to say I'm quite impressed. The fish was fresh and potatoes were roasted nicely.<br/>The steak sandwich was not chewy and had the right amount of chips too!<br/>Also used an entertainment voucher so meant that both meals were $15! Which was a total deal and worth it for the quality and quantity.<br/><br/>Would come back here again even without the Entertainment voucher :)

I booked for a group of 20 for my friend's birthday on Saturday. We were seated on two separate tables but in the same corner which wasn't so bad but we really wanted to sit all together. When ordering our first drinks, I asked the waiter if we could merge the two tables together and he said it would be too hard. We took it upon ourselves to merge the tables and were all much happier. About 25 minutes later, we were still waiting on drinks, so I asked our waiter. Our drinks finally came but mine was missing. Had to wait even longer. If it weren't for the wait, we probably would have been ordering drink number 2 at that point. When our meals came around, a waitress we hadn't seen before, gave someone a meal and said "I can't reach over to the far side because you have decided to move the tables around." The way she said this was extremely snarky and rude. The whole table heard it and nobody was impressed. I gave a score of 2 rather than 1 because there was one staff member who I wanted to grab the name of but couldn't spot afterwards. He was good about us moving the tables and apologised that due to the game being on, there was a shortage of space. He was friendly and was making jokes and was really great when I asked if he could set us up for cake. I have been a couple times before and remember the experiences being nice so I was quite disappointed with this visit.

Second visit tonight and it has proven itself to be the worst I've been to. The first time I went to this restaurant, I had their Chicken Fettuccine and no doubt, it was the perfect pasta for me and half an hour waiting time was totally understandable as I consider it as my main course.<br/><br/>Tonight, my boyfriend wanted us to have dinner in Bricklane and we ended up going there. I was honestly starving which is why we ordered a Garlic Bread as an entree expecting that we were be getting it for at least 10-15 minutes but we've waited for 25 minutes for it and never came. How can you wait for an entree for that long, especially knowing it's only a garlic bread? Moreover, we clearly said to the lady that we want it to be served before the pasta. It was so upsetting and pissed me off big-time. Again, half an hour waiting time is understandable if it's a main course (for example pasta) but then, it's an entree which is only a bread and 25 minutes later, still no food on our table.<br/><br/>This maybe rude but we ended up walking out very disappointed. Afterwards, a lady from Bricklane called my boyfriend looking for us saying that our food is ready. Are you kidding me? Never heard any single apology from her and acted like she didn't care.<br/><br/>I reckon the food has the value for money and has a lot to offer but the service brings the entire restaurant down. I won't be coming back to this restaurant ever again. I feel bad for my boyfriend as well as he really likes this place.

Bricklane is a favourite of mine! Have been going there for 2 years now. My favourite is the risotto balls (entree). They are delicious! Another favourite is the chowder- it's creamy and full of flavour. Has a great vibe and the staff are efficient and friendly. A lovely dining experience- my inlaws also love it! <br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Ambience: 5/5<br/>Overall: 10/10

Staff are lovely, welcoming, friendly and efficient.  I have been here so many times for lunch and dinner or just dessert for 6 years now.  Have introduced Bricklane to family, friends and locals - they also have never been dissapointed. Meals are amazing and good value.  My top favourite dishes I recommend - The Squid as an entree, Pork Belly and the Scotch fillet that come with prawns as the main.  If you can fit in dessert, the desserts are absolutely amazing! I recommend the Banoffe Pie and Pavalova.

12 of us came in yesterday for my mum and dads joint birthday lunch. <br/>Great $15 menu on with lovely choices but sadly none really for my vegetarian uncle so he had the corn fritters without bacon but good value tasty meals for sure.<br/>Started with bread and dips and I must say every dip was LUSH could if gone a little more bread though as we had dips left over and no bread to put them on hehe ;)<br/>Well done guys we are going to be back for sure keep up the amazing work. <br/>OW!! and thanks heaps for allowing me to setup mum and dads surprise candy chaos birthday cake!!

Staff are not friendly. Overpriced food lacking in taste & presentation. Was very excited to visit Bricklane but will unfortunately not return.
Manic Diner
Bricklane was a warm and inviting place to eat on a cold winter's day. We grabbed a table by the fireplace for lunch and ordered the crispy salt and peppered squid salad, chicken parmigiana and the beer battered fish and chips. We absolutely enjoyed our meals. The staff were friendly and attentive and service was fast. We'll definitely be back!

Great place for lunch and dinner. It is a pub, but food is definately creative .I sat in the outdoor area, but have previously been inside near the nice warm fire in winter. Interesting lunch menu and very reasonably priced. <br/>I enjoyed the meal so much that I asked for a slice of bread to mop up the sauces, this was a bit of a problem but was eventually resolved.

This is a very nice place with friendly staff. There is plenty of car parks around the area.<br/>I ordered a scotch fillet steak, which overall was pretty good. However I asked for medium, but it felt more medium-rare with some bits undercooked.<br/>A complaint I do have is to do with the smoking area in the north side of the building. The doors to the north get left open and cigarette smoke comes into the building. I think this needs to be watched by staff and the north doors be kept shut, and provide access to this area via the west or east sides.<br/><br/>Update<br/>Came here again for fish of the day. Excellent fish. Decent portion. Nicely cooked with a good amount of seasoning.
Erica Whyte
Amazing place. Friendly staff. The meals are large portion and reasonable price. The food was amazing. good selection on the meal. The chicken breast was tender with a yummy cheese and wine source, with a big side salad. The triple chocolate brownie was so good warm brownie with ice cream was a good way to treat the sweet tooth
Jesse Jackson
went there for my sisters birthday and I had the side salad, chips & steamed veggies. (I'm vegan) the dinner was crap and the Caesar salad (which my granny, sister and her friend got) was drenched in mayo. gross. and we had a really really long wait for dinner.<br/><br/>wouldn't recommend, bland restaurant and food is ok but expensive ?

Had a great family meal here last night. Children entertained with great kids packs. Food good quality pub food that is well priced, tasty and plenty of it. Will be back

We were recommended Bricklane  and I had a very enjoyable meal with my family. It had a warm atmosphere and the food  was generously portioned, very tasty and the service unobtrusive, efficient and friendly.

great family restaurant with an awesome atmosphere, the staff at bricklane treated us amazingly and met our every need. Food was superb and the massive portions filled us up. Would definitely go back again.

Food was Delish, Be sure to arrive on an empty stomach Serving sizes for each dish was larger than expected no complaints in that department & Moneys worth. Just a tad bit of a let down on 1hour 30mins of waiting time before meals were served, half our table of 14 were served meals at different times which is a bummer having to eat your meal while others are still waiting on theres. Service was great, Maybe would have enjoyed it more if they had open windows or doors to let fresh air circulate, can get a bit unattractively hot and it's not what you want when trying to eat a meal.
Chris Taylor
we too tried the scotch fillet steaks. they tasted bland and were also overcooked. was very dissapointed in the staff they were no help whatsoever. would nor reccomend this restaurant to anyone

After Xmas 2014, my husband and daughter joined me in a delicious meal at Bricklane, New Lynn. The service was amazing, and it is so nice to be greeted with a smile.  We ordered two different steak meals, and a chicken in filo  pastry. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the filo pastry on the chicken was crunchy and mouthwatering. The waitress was patient, informative, and looked cheerful thoughout the night.Totally recomend this restaurant to anyone who is wanting a good value for money meal, with great refreshment selection and staff that go the extra mile to ensure your needs are met.

Food is kinda bland but good portions, well large portions. Decent prices. Good vibe and nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very attentive and provides great suggestions as to whoch item to try. Lovely desserts

Lovely place. Nice beautiful restaurant. Seating plan is a bit poor. Food is delicious! Waiting time is long though. Nice service xx yay! :)

We had a Netball lunch at Bricklane yesterday. There was a big selection of different meals ordered at our table and everyone<br/>thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The service was fantastic, the staff were so friendly and obliging and the atmosphere was<br/>amazing. I would strongly recommend it for their food, their service and their hospitality. It is child friendly and I was very<br/>impressed the way the brought a gift out for my granddaughter and the other children present in our group. I will definitely being going back.
Christine Keven
The service is very good, the indoor dining room could do with a bit lighter decor. The food was OK but I ordered a Thai chicken salad and while the salad and chicken were very good it lacked any real Thai flavour, a slight hint of coconut was all I could taste. They may be afraid of some flavours being too strong for some (although why you would order Thai flavour if you don't like it?) so I suggest they provide the Thai dressing on the side to be added if you like the traditional Thai flavours: fish sauce, chilli, lime, coriander etc.

My partner and i dined at Bricklane last Tuesday night and was treated to a superb evening. Right from the second we walked in the front doors we felt so warm and welcomed. The front of house staff were inviting and friendly. Being the Head Chef of a restaurant myself I am very picky when it comes to my food. We sat down and had Entree's, Mains and Coffee's all of which were devine. Well done Bricklane.<br/>Highly recommended
Lana
13/7/14 Thoroughly enjoyed yet another lovely meal at Bricklane New Lynn, We were waited on by a very cheerful, friendly waitress (Leah) whom has served us in the past. Quite some years ago we used to visit quite regularly but meals deteriorated and we stopped coming. It has only been within the past year that we decided to return and have been very satisfied with the meals, service and atmosphere. Thankyou Lana M
Gail Wood
Had another delicious meal here tonight, the lamb rack. We've been dining at Bricklane for years now and have never had a bad experience. They don't do 'fine dining' but serve 'real, plentiful and tasty food', and the restaurant has a nice casual feel about it and they also have a loyalty card which is a bonus. Thanks Bricklane
Michael Norton
Always love to go to Bricklane for a big feed. My favourites are the fish and chips and scotch fillet - always cooked perfectly. Bricklane Restaurant has an awesome vibe and is great to go to chill out with a beer and chat to the locals and regulars. Can't wait to go back to try some more dishes :)

Not been to Bricklane for years, suddenly this year there have been 3 occassions in 2 months. The menu on offer though it may be somewhat - "usual" the presentation of the food and the flavours are superb. Top job Chef! On two occassions we were served by the same waitress, bubbly, efficient, helpfull and timely. Could not complain about the service. One occassion, could have complained as service was a bit slow, the place was packed and we had a new waitress - in training. So really it would be mean to do so. Love the atmosphere, love the staff, even the manager. Give him some cheak and you may get a pleasant surprise. I did. All in all it's nice to have a fun, friendly restauarant out West.

We have been going to Bricklane for years and once again, we really enjoyed our meal this week.<br/><br/>We started with a sourdough loaf and garlic butter, and then I had terakihi with garlic prawns on a mash bed, which was great. My wife had the fillet steak with scallops and prawns which was cooked medium rare - exactly what she asked for.<br/><br/>The staff are very helpful and know the dishes very well and provide good quality service which we appreciate.<br/><br/>They don't market themselves as fine dining, but we have always had really good meals, which is why we come back. In terms of value for money, they are hard to beat.

Heard so many good things about this restaurant to go and be disappointed. The service was slow had to ask three times for water and she clicked her tongue at me. Getting over that the pork belly was not very nice at all, very dry overcooked to be honest and the mash was lumpy,, my friend ordered the crispy duck, not so crispy flavor was there, vege's okay but pretty much an ordinary meal. We skipped desert and went to Denny's for cake and coffee.

We would like to highly recommend Bricklane Restaurant Clark Street New Lynn where we eat frequently because of its wonderful ambience, competitive prices and great service from manager Peter and his staff.<br/>See you there soon!<br/>This is the opinion of Alf and Liz of New Lynn.
Melanie
This is bar food and not restaurant quality food. The pork belly was overdone to the point of being burnt on the bottom and one of our party had to leave quite a bit of it as it was not edible. Obviously being over cooked also meant it was dry. The fillet steak was just about the worst piece of steak that my husband has ever eaten, he said more like stewing steak than fillet. The lamb rack was over cooked and the duck looked like it was served with marmalade rather then a sauce, the member of our party that had the duck left the "sauce" so clearly it was inedible. Luckily we enjoyed each other's company so the night was not a complete waste of time. Oh, and the seafood chowder and risotto balls were not too bad!
Tiffany Miller
High rices, long wait on poor food- Over an hour &amp; not busy had to ask twice were food was. Food was over cooked, mainly unable to be eaten. When complained about this when leaving was asked by rude staff member if I had read the menu &amp; knew what I was ordering, then on the way out this staff member called me a b*tch for complaining which is totally uncalled for. Will not be going again really not happy after it was recommended to us.
Ken C
Warm, cosy atmosphere. Food was good and reasonably priced. However, service was a little slow.
Laurel Julinda
Enjoyed a $15 lunch with a pre order, delicious pan fried fish &amp; great value, during a work function, look forward to going back, <br/><br/>I also went years ago &amp; it seems busier &amp; a bit different now, the prices have gone down compared to what the used to be. Probably one of the few good eateries around New Lynn.

Just had dinner here service was not to great 4 different waiters. Prices were rather high for the food we received my partner got Lamb rack was only average I got pork belly the waitress could not even tell me what was in it an when I received it there was to many flavors an stuff going on that did not match. We had half both our meals left on our plates when we left. We went to pay the lady asked how our food was we told her average an not that great an she told us that was very good. So she can't of actually been hearing us!!!!!

I went there yesterday, ordered one scotch fillet without mushroom as my girlfriend is allergic to it, and it came with mushroom, then our waitress just realised she forgot about it said sorry but that and the only option is to wait for them to cook another one which will take thirty more minutes or let them to pick those mushrooms out from the steak; I asked my scotch fillet to be midium well but it came up mdium rare; we also ordered coffee but it only showed up after we went back to confer asking for it. Only thing didn't go wrong was the entree. Worst dinning experience ever so I did not give any tips and won't go back there ever for food.

My wife ordered the $25 fish and chips. <br/><br/>Change the fryer oil guys! Disappointing!<br/><br/>The moment it came out I knew something was off. Expecting it to be golden and crispy, it was dark and soft. In all honesty the local takeaway shop could serve better for $3.50. <br/><br/>My dish was superb (pork with kumara). I made my complaint being as nice as possible when we were paying. They were nice enough to remove it from the bill and had a word to the chef (he would of known exactly what was going on). <br/><br/>She went on to say that throughout the day they had served a lot of fish and chips with no problem... DUH! there's your problem the oil is dirty !!!!!<br/><br/>Will stick to the Chinese takeaways for our fish and chips.<br/><br/>*****Update 1/7/2014******<br/><br/>Went back to give it another try.<br/><br/>Steaks were overcooked and was matched with a waitress that said "Um yeah it just depends who is on in the kitchen... we can never you know...." These are $35 scotch fillets and this is the answer???????!!!!!!!<br/><br/>Emailed the manager about the situation. <br/><br/>3 out of 4 dishes were below par. (2 visits in a row) NOT GOOD!
Ray Gilbert
This used to be a regular haunt - sometimes twice a week, especially for their ealy bird dinners and Sunday roasts. Maybe they have a new chef but the last 2 meals have been very disappointing. Lamb shanks used to be lean and tender but were tough and fatty. The roast lamb was also tough and fatty. Let's hope they can lift their game

Want a decent sized meal, then Bricklane is the place to go! Good specials to be had on every night of the week as well. Every time I have been there with friends our meals have been cooked to perfection, service and staff excellent too. Pasta night has good sized meals for a small price, I had smoked fettuccine last time and it was so creamy ..... Bricklane is the first restaurant I would think of to take friends to for a meal.
Peter Jiang
A few work mates and I came in lunch last week and had an absolute amazing meal. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel, I don't usually go for Schnitzels as I find them too dry but this was cooked to perfection. My work mates had the Fish and Chips and the Sweetcorn fritter. Both were also amazing, the batter on the fish was incredibly crispy without being too oily and the sweet corn fritter had a decent amount of crispy bacon.<br/><br/>Highly recommended!

We had dinner here last Sat. night and as usual it was absolutely delicious. We took some friends for the first time and they were very impressed. We've eaten here many times and is our favourite restaurant and we've never had a bad experience. The meals are always substantial and of consistent quality. We love you Bricklane............Steve Weston you're the man!

Had brunch here last weekend with my family. I love this restaurant and have dined here frequently with family and friends, over the years. My meal (roast vegetable and feta salad) was delicious, and the coffee very good. Our sons enjoyed the big breakfast and the beef burger followed by the banoffie pie. Everyone in our party of 14 were thoroughly satisfied with their meals. Thanks Bricklane. We'll be back!

I have eaten here a few times recently and I have to say they are really consistent. <br/>I am gluten free and they never have a trouble ensuring that I have lots of options to choose from, they are even happy to adjust a meal to ensure that it is what I want. <br/>The servings are big and even when the place is quite full the food is pretty fast and the service is on to it. We went for fathers day and there was even a free beer for dads.

This was my first time dining at Bricklane and I'm so glad I went there for dinner with my best friend (it was her birthday) we both enjoyed our meals soooo delisshhh!!!...the service was great, staff were very welcoming and friendly and our waiter was attentive and professional a very pleasant young man. The restaurant was warm and the atmosphere was lovely, would definitely return again without a doubt :)

Had a lovely evening there with a group of 9.<br/> All our meals arrived at the same time. Everyone enjoyed their choice, glad I didn't have an entree as the main was a large serving.<br/> Had the fish of the day with prawns and wine and garlic sauce it also came with a good serving of veggies and beautiful fresh baby potatoes. Yum.<br/> Everyone enjoyed their mains then we had desert, I had the cheesecake of the day with liquor and berries it was a cooked cheesecake and looked a bit deflated in the middle and had a really thick crust, it was very heavy eating won't have that again. I should have gone for the apple and rhubarb crumble as that was delicious. Had a taste of the benoffee pie that was delish as well. We'll def be back :-)

******** UPDATED 11.01.16********* This place has gone downhill big time! After recently waiting well over an hour and a half for food with no warning, apologies or even being offered garlic bread etc, we won't be back. It wasn't that busy and it was like the staff had forgotten about our table and didn't care. Having our 1 year old with us and being served dinner after that huge wait at almost 9pm wasn't ideal! Would've walked out if it hadn't have been for family who had travelled a way to be there. Meals were also average. Very disappointing. At least there is now the new Brickworks establishment, will be going there from now on.

Went out for dinner with my family and had a great evening. Very good food all round, my lamb shank was excellent. We were well looked after by a young asian waitress who was friendly, attentive and professional. I will certainly go back again and this time leave room for the sticky date pudding.

After being told again and again to check this place out, my partner and I decided to check out what everyone was going on about.<br/>WOW. Value for money!!!!!<br/>This place is amazing. Portion size above average and priced right. nice warm and cosy and set up as a good family restaurant.<br/>Was so impressed.<br/>Only one thing they need to work on. Lighting- way to bright for my liking and if the have done this on purpose for the older croud you might end up missing out on the younger market staying for a few drinks after dinner.

Hey another good family restaurant out West. We went on Thursday between 5-6 they have the earlybird special, and desserts are half price. I had the lamb shanks - not bad! (although I would have liked some green veges with it, seems like they only came with mash and carrots)and the dessert..really good, couldn't finish. Although their bannoffee is a treat..it doesn't quite surpass Tony's (my favourite) but since there's no Tony's in New Lynn I think you would feel at home here. The service is excellent and they go out of their way to make your meal special. :-)

Had a fantastic meal at Bricklane tonight.<br/>Fish of the day was grilled Terakihi with a yummy white sauce, plus garlic prawns, on a bed of potatoes with a salad. Oh my gosh, it was just so yummy! At least 6 large prawns. The staff are so friendly there. Felt very at home.<br/><br/><br/>Have been here for lunch a few times now. My favourite, the Salt &amp; Pepper Squid is awesome, &amp; the taste &amp; quality consistent. Well done to the chefs!

went for a quiet dinner on a Thursday night before going into the city to listen to live music - great food and the waiters are really excellent. had a family atmosphere - a birthday on outside and family groups dining indoors, but spacious enough so no noise problems..good to go somewhere which welcomes babies. we're going again - group from work, and happy we can bring along the babies. we'll keep going.

Went here for lunch, reasonable food but a bit pricey.

Have been here quite a few times, about 3 times for dinner, and maybe about 5 or 6 times for dessert. It is an excellent place to go. The staff are always friendly, super attentive (without being in your face), the prices are fairly reasonable, and the food is always delicious! I really like how they have regular weekly specials, like Thursday is half price dessert night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Good parking, friendly cosy atmosphere, plenty of room. Good food and service, bit expensive.<br/>$8.50 for half a small glass of house wine! No BYO. Prefer to go Thursday evening when Miro's Gypsy Strings are playing - lovely music, makes a nice evening..will certainly go again. Good place for a group.<br/><br/>Not so good now - no Gypsy music. They were so good.

Very bad dining experience. Party of 4. 3 meals terrible, one of these being almost inedible. When we complained they offered us free dessert vouchers and service terminated at our table at that point. We paid and had to ask for the vouchers which we discover are not free, they are buy one get one free. Always had good meals in the past at Bricklane, but if this now the standard then we suggest this is one to avoid.
