Review Denny's - New Lynn

Lelei 'o Tonga
Always the go-to for birthdays (free meal for birthday person) and achievements and celebrations. The food is always excellent - the Premier burger and curly fries combo is lit! And of course, you need the Hot Fudge Cake afterwards! We always go as a family of four but it's worth going just for the different options they provide. We're planning to go again before Xmas for the fifth time this year!

The food is delicious, staff members are friendly and welcoming. Customer service is good. Overall this place has a fun vibe and I've always enjoyed going here. The prices are also reasonable👍🏼

We went here for dessert only and it was very scrummy.

Delicious! Great customer service. The front of house girl that served was excellent!..Keep up the good work. Food was delicious and filling. Not too busy but still bustling. Oreo shakes...so good! Tropical smoothie was even better. The Salt and pepper squid..delish. I'm jealous that I didn't order the Bread and butter pudding cause that look amazing.

Went there on a Saturday morning and the staff were lovely. They were very clear and very understanding to my personal needs. Highly happy to go back and would recommend them based on how good the service was. Clearly staff that would be an assett to any business

My husband and I dined in on Saturday night. It was quieter than normal. The servers were on point. Normally we have to try and get someones attention, but on Saturday evening the service and food delivery was perfect. Thank you team :-)

Excellent staff. Great chef. Servers were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming. The young girl went above and beyond, such a lovely nature.

Had dinner there last night around 9:30pm. Service was fantastic, food was good (ranch possibly tasted off? We couldn’t eat it) however the staff were so lovely. Best Denny’s I’ve been to in a long time.

had the big burger an chips for $21 great value for money the missus had a smaller burger also great value for $16 great work Dennys thank you

Worth the money. The breakfast is very filing. Tea and coffee unlimited. The staff very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is very spacious. Parking is away from the restaurant, that's the only problem.

Has to be my favorite Denny's in Auckland, maybe N.Z. Just always friendly clean and service is awesome, food is on point everytime. Thank you guys, will always drive across Auckland to your Denny's. Keep up the awesome work there. ❤️

the apricot chicken is so yummy good service .. clean .. plenty of parking upstairs dennys is great ... with excellent pricing in my opinion

I like the Denny's in the US and wanted to try a few in NZ. Good service and good food. Unlimited filter coffee (which the locals do not care for but the American standard). Good value in clean place. Was not busy early on a Sunday morning. Unlike the Denny's in the States they do serve booze. Nice place.

Not bad but have had better scrambled eggs !!!

Great happening place.<br/>We went at 3am loved the desserts. Must try the macaroon fudge nd passionfruit cheesecake. <br/>Spacious place. Quick service and good place to hangout esp at night.

Waited almost an hour for our order. All we wanted was dessert which took way too long. A couple of people that arrived well after us were being served there food before us even though we waited longer for our orders. Shouldn’t take 40mins to an hour to wait for just 2 hot fudge cakes and a lava cake. Was very disappointed, we refused to wait any longer and just got up and left. Will never come back here.

I usually eat at Denny's in Pakuranga now because after eating at Denny's New Lynn multiple times and each experience being a bad one, I've had enough. I love love love the food at Denny's but the last time I ate at Dennys New Lynn, I was sipping on my choc milkshake and I realized I ate a strand of hair and I didnt realize until halfway through sipping on the straw. The hair strand was INSIDE the straw!!!! I was mortified and I complained to the staff. The first waitress I approached was lovely and she apologized even though it wasnt her fault which i appreciated a lot but she got the manager to deal with me and the manager honestly seemed very judgmental and she looked at me then my hair to see if it was my hair but my hair was tied up! The manager seemed like she did not want to be there and so did most of the staff. Sticking to Dennys pakuranga from now on.

They dont really change things up in the menu if your allergic or dont want something specific. Very unhelpful too expensive for the quality of food better of going brickworks dont waste your money here.

Thought I'll give them a chance...boy was I wrong! Came into Dennys for a breakfast, and ordered an Eggs Benny with Ham and a Cappuccino. Before I proceed, I must inform that Eggs Benny is my go to restaurant favorite, with Esquires and Coffee Club being the regular places that I've eaten from. In Dennys, the eggs were still watery, the hollandaise was a joke (literally a single line swirl on top) and the Ham tasted like it was picked up from a super discount sale. To top it off, everything was over-salted and left a 'processed food' taste in the mouth. <br/><br/>The cappuccino had a weird apple flavoring to it, and tasted like something straight out of an instant coffee sachet.<br/><br/>I regretted spending the 22$ over here. Would implore anyone to please skip over this place. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies.
I Am Hungry
hi priced place with average food and very poor hygiene standards, the place needs renovations and the seats and tables are dirty ...just take a tissue and rub it on the table you can see black tar in it...you can clearly see dirt under tables and chairs...slow service ...not going again....positives..ample parking and curly fries... rest is SAD and OLD
Laura Richardson
I love Denny's! They have a 2 page spread in the menu for vegetarians now and a vege pizza. It's so amazing. About $50 for 2 people. It's a cool place 😊

Staff were so welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Moroccan lamb meal and hubby got the T-bone with garlic bread and mushroom sauce. We really enjoyed our hot meal! Definitely returning to try the waffles and chocolate pudding next time.

Food is horrible, heard staff talking bad about each other and swearing. Floors are sticky and tables are often unclean, under our table was dirt and old rubbish. My daughter wanted a booth which we were given after the staff looked put out by it, the seat half comes off the bracket holding it up. Hair in food and had a bug in my drink. Managers are rude and don't agree with your complaints, saw the manager getting angry at the staff for doing their job and threating to fire them. We came at a busy time and the manager wasn't helping staff with orders or food, just stood around and complained at everyone. Most of the staff are unhelpful and hate their job. Waited 45 mins for 3 milkshakes, it was busy but was told it would be about 20 mins which was fine but 45? Food portions aren't great for the price, nor was the quality. Bathrooms were unclean and the cutlery dirty when you finally get it. The single sundae was a disgrace and nothing like the picture, it comes in a tiny tin bowl with hardly any cream. Don't know why we were given vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce when we asked for strawberry ice cream sundae. Overall was a disgrace and wouldn't be back at all. DO NOT come here if you haven't been before, you will be disappointed and overall waste of money for over $100. Not cheap at all and saw other customers look disgusted in their food.

There aren’t many options available for late night dining in Auckland, but Denny’s is always the go to! The food is overpriced but taste okay. Due to the fact that there’s no other restaurants open at 4am in the morning this place is a hit! Hot fudge cake is delicious and worth every bite.
Shawny Tipene
I would have given 1 star if it wasn’t for the desserts, everything else I have ever eaten here has always been bland, low quality and disappointing.
Muna Paotama
New menu is over priced for the size meals we got today compared to what it was before, only a few meals now come with filter coffee.. Visiting again, well I don't think so👎

Came in today for brunch before heading over to watch toy story 4. Never tried Dennys, so we decided to try today. The vegetables tasted extremely not fresh. The tortellini was average but not worth the price ($21). It was quite an experience and if you have never tried, apparently the dessert is good.

Family favourite for years now. Cheap eats and theres something for everyone. If you go in there expecting 5 star food, you'll feel sadly let down. But it's the perfect place for a family dinner with kids or a drunken feed in the early hours of the morning. Definitely reccomend getting the buffalo wings, they are sweet and great for sharing with friends.<br/>

Dennys...well what can I say...compared to the diners in America the portion sizes are decent but the prices keep increasing over the years.<br/><br/>A nice place to hang out with friends especially because they're opened till midnight.<br/><br/>Dessert is lovely from here as we havent ordered mains from here in a while but from looking at the other reviews the mains seem to be pretty good.<br/><br/>We ordered the waffle w/chocolate, the choc hot fudge cake and the apple pie which my partner is literally in love with ✅<br/><br/>Staff are polite and friendly and there's plenty of parking upstairs.<br/><br/>Food : ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Prices : ⭐⭐⭐<br/>Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>Overall : ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delicious food at a decent price. Customer service seems to be lacking. Dennys new lynn is great for family breakfasts, would recommend people to go here!
Persian Foodie
I loved how this is a 24 hour place like the American diners. The portions are out of this world and it actually tastes yum. The menu is probably the longest menu I've ever seen with lots of options from skewers to buffalo wings to big bacon and egg breakfasts to bangers and mash to curry to sundaes. The banana and caramel pancakes were stacked high and the $7 curly fries were a massive portion and the bacon and eggs and hash browns were nice. This totaled to $30 and we even had to take the fries home because of the portion. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu as well as the shakes! The customer service was amazing, we got one teapot each and they would come and ask if we needed anything else several times. We were seated quickly at 11pm and the food came out in 5 mins. Loved it.

Went here today for dinner and it was very average. Menu was way overpriced for what it was. White sauce on the veggies was basically water. The apricot chicken and fajitas were nice but everything was just pretty average. The service started out really good then they just disappeared and didn’t come back to us; we waited and waited because we wanted dessert (our 4 year old was really excited) but we gave up in the end. Won’t be hurrying back.

Best place to hang out for food with friends and family... We had ordered Meat lovers Pizza and Nachos.. both were perfect and served very pleasingly by the staff.. Reasonable rates too..

Used to come here all the time with school friends about 10 years ago now. Has been some time since I have been here but did recently for an early birthday dinner. It still looks the same as it did long ago but doesn't seem to be showing any signs of wear and tear.<br/><br/>Entree was Garlic Bread (still good value for money at $4.50) and the Spring Rolls (which looked a little worse for wear as some were burnt) Ordered my usual Patty Melt on Wholegrain. My husband had the Pulled Pork Melt, which is a relatively new addition to the menu(or atleast since the last time I was here). Filling meal at a decent price. Oreo Shake still tastes awesome. Ran out of room for dessert though I usually enjoy the Hot Fudge Cake. <br/><br/>Treasured memories here and still a favourite comfort food though I rarely come here now adays. Still somewhere I would come back and eat. (NOTE:Parking is on the roof and you will encounter 2 flights of stairs)

Denny's New Lynn was a very good family diner and then the menu got changed and became a not friendly menu anymore. Now it's changed again and become much better food wise as Chefs are better now. Staff are Friendly and very helpful.

I don't know if I'm embarrassed to say that i frequent this branch regularly, its value for money and perfect for if your'e out with mates and need a place to stop and refuel. Food is great value for money and I'm never disappointed with the quality or their variety of vegetarian dishes. Very catering to large groups of people (often i come with 5-10 others). On my most recent visit I ordered the oreo pancakes (my favourite) but I would also recommend the veggie burger or curly fries.
John Bone
Didn't expect much TBH but had to ask for coffee refill each time, asked when we ordered then sat there for ten minutes then asked again. Food was served without cutlery, but there was some hair in my meal for good measure. We got up and grabbed our own cutlery. Had to ask for jam for the toast which we then got given two little packets. We order crack a Jack and don't recommend it, the sausages are like the cheapest you can get at the store... Pork flavored or something, certainly not proper sausages. The food was so bland and boring. The service terrible.

Went here for lunch on a Wednsdy to celebrate our sons 10th bday. When we first got there we couldn’t actually find the door🤦🏽‍♀️there were alot of other doors and the entrance was kind of hidden right in the corner. Either we are stupid or just blind 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 Anywho, walked in and were taken to be seated right away. Place wasn’t busy and it seemed quite clean. The islander lady that seated us was very kind but the old asian looking lady had a attitude problem. She came and took our order but when my partner told her no salad just the fries with his meal she gave him a funny look and said “really no veges? It doesn’t cost extra if that’s the problem” like b**** pls we have money and we are healthy just don’t feel like eating grass at this very moment thank u very much. Anyways wait for the food was long took 35 mins but was worth the wait. Food was delicious! We orderd the kids cheeseburger&curly fries, pork spare ribs, $9 lunch fish n chip special, $9 lunch chilli special and buffalo wings + 4 cokes. A little annoyed that the drinks came out within 3mins of ordering cos the ice bloody melted while waitn for our meals and the drinks were watery and almost finishd by the time food came out🤨Didn’t end up ordering dessert as we were so full but I really wanted to try the hot fudge cake as it seems to have good reviews. Portions were very large so points for that as the food was quite expensive. Would defntly go back again as the food was yummy but they defntly need to retrain some of their staff AKA the asian looking lady.

Very nice friendly environment, wait for the food is long .. but worth it. <br/>I really love the chocolate hot fudge 😍<br/>Will keep coming back ♥️♥️
Dani
The only thing I really enjoy from Dennys is the hot fudge cake. Other than that, the food is way too overpriced and pretty average for the price that customers pay. The look of the store is really outdated too. The staff are friendly and always assure the wait time which is considerate and good to know yet the quality of the food is standard and not exciting.
RL.P
Come to Denny's if you want a hard and fast dessert only. I only ever come to Denny's to order curly fries &/ or a hot fudge cake. Other than that, the menu is way too over priced- You can order a whole meal for one at Maccas for the price you pay for a single burger here! Not only that but the quality of food is just not great.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. We had chicken curry with rice, and chicken satay.<br/><br/>The chicken satay tasted quite average. The chicken meat was almost all lean, which we liked, as we disliked fatty chicken meat. We were of the view that the price of this chicken satay was of the high side considering that there were only 3 sticks of chicken skewers. The stay peanut sauce tasted average too and the amount was very pathetic too.<br/><br/>The chicken curry was way below average. There was not much of curry taste and the curry gravy was very thin and watery. It was literally curry water instead of calling it curry gravy. The chicken was also tasteless. This was the worst chicken curry I had ever had thus far. It was rather pricey too.<br/><br/>With this high price, you could have much better, tastier and more authentic chicken curry at any other Malaysian or Asian cuisine cafes or restaurants. For instance, chicken curry at KK Malaysian cuisine restaurant, Paparich restaurant, KL Cafe Great North Express, and many other cafes / restaurants in Auckland. Furthermore, the price of chicken curry on rice or nasi lemak with chicken curry at all these other cafes / restaurants is way much cheaper than Denny's.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 2/10<br/>Service : 6/10<br/>Price : 2/10<br/>Ambience : 6/10<br/>

The message before you write a review says to be "Polite and Friendly" that's exactly what you don't get from their Manager. The waiters are nice, but are not well informed, don't know basic deals like their own birthday meal policy. Terrible experience only made worse by rude arrogance of the MANAGER. Never had a problem at Manukau Denny's but NewLynn is disappointing!
I_like_pickles
The orange juice was terrible. I ordered ice cream with the pancakes which was served at least 10-15 minutes before the pancakes arrived which I found to be pretty silly.<br/><br/>No surprise that the ice cream was pretty much liquid when the pancakes came. However, the pancakes, although a bit dry, were pretty good and they were massive for the price paid.<br/><br/>Marketed as salted caramel pancakes but lacked salt and caramel which is just silly. Needed much more maple syrup for the size they were and more bananas. Or just make them smaller. For as good as the pancakes themselves were, all of the bad things can't be ignored.

I want to thank the staff like Dinusha at Dennys in New lynn and others that I can't remember by name but the staff are brilliant when it comes to customer service they definitely go the extra mile I have been a customer for years I have to say I enjoy the breakfasts especially when you need a full meal to start the day lol :) :)
Rensen Ye
Horrible food and horrible service. The old hag with glasses and short hair that takes the orders is rude asf and most of the staff just throw the food at your table. Well done dennys
Hwasa's Thighs
Worst staff ever rubbery salty gross pork and bad communication. Staff do not care about you at all just looking totake your money for bad service. Needs to b shut down the sorry excuse for a restaurant.cant blame you for hating your job with a lonely place like that.
Tama
The place is a bit tired looking. It could do with a makeover. I ordered the eggs benedict which was nice. It came out in a very timely manner. The wait staff were very pleasant and friendly but I found the manager on duty rather rude. She was very impatient and annoyed at the fact that SHE tallied up the wrong order. I would come back only because it is open late and is therefore convenient for a quick meal. Do not expect a high quality. Food is also rather pricey for what you actually get.
Brooklyn
Overall, I didn’t like the food, the service was average and the furnishings need work. <br/>Dinner for 5 on a Sunday evening. Were seated with menus not offered nor brought any water. The light above our table kept dimming and then switching to full brightness through out our stay. We each ordered drinks; emphasising we didn’t want straws, 2 drinks came out with plastic straws so I had to ask again politely “can my shake please not have a straw, thank you!!” -this time, they listened. When ordering food the waitress couldn’t help us with questions about products. I settled for nachos and an oreo shake (I struggle to pick food at Denny’s nothing ever wows me!)<br/>The oreo shake was tasty! Their shakes and desserts are what I’d come here for. <br/>Before the food arrived I had to ask for water for the table. Food was served by a lovely male waiter who is always so nice! My nachos though... bland, ratio of sour cream to everything else was insane. I couldn’t eat them... brought them home for leftovers (to improve them so I wasn’t wasteful)... still haven’t eaten them haha<br/>Go to Denny’s for dessert! Everything else is too expensive for the quality provided!!
_foodfanatic
I have been to Denny’s many times but the only reason I go back is for the dessert and curly fries. Although curly fries sometimes tend to be little oily. The food is average . The breakfast menu and the hot chocolate is amazing. I had the pasta once, steak and cannot give any great feedback. Felt rubbery and was hard to chew and dry. If this review was only for the dessert, hot chocolate, breakfast and curly fries I would give it a 4-5 but overall as a restaurant when comparing all the food selection I give it 3 stars. Service also time to time changes. One day great service another not so well.
Jay Landge
Worse customer service ever in Auckland, staff attitude is the worst, Even the water wasn’t served after 30 minutes of time, so guess when they took the order after 45 minutes. Keep us waiting soo long. Would never recommend to anyone.
Mit81193
Worst customer service ever had ordered the food have to wait for almost 1 hr to come to the table and even the water was not served on table the staff even if they see us don’t respond to us
WishMaster
Good place to sit down and talk. Most of the items are expensive, heard they have lot of spicy stuff like noodles but could not find any in menu
Brent Henri
For what you pay it was alright. $16.50 for Denny’s Benny with ham poached eggs and hash brown . Staff were friendly , aircon was amazing in this heat. Was a bit untidy needed regular cleaning . Food wasn’t amazing but edible. Coffee was good. Don’t recommend getting the sausage they are definitely the cheap mad butcher beer flavoured $10 for 50 sausage packs. I mean if you looking for a real cheap quick feed it’s okay . Unlimited coffee refills is lit too bad.
Richard Hirst
Oh dear. Imagine axle grease from the 1950s. How did it survive this long to go on being used for frying in this sad establishment? Do senior staff ever get here to inspect performance? OMG, this must be the sadist example of franchisee disinterest & disconnect.
Brandon Epapara
Love the customer service from the night manager she is so on to it and always helps us out. The food is alway perfect. But the decor could do with a touch up. But as we all know that’s not what Denny’s is known for. It’s know for it’s Food. 🍔🌯🍰🍷
Siobahn Armstrong
Service always takes quite a while whenever I come here. I ordered burgers and ribs which was amazing and then came the salmon salad I had also ordered and the salmon had BONES throughout the whole thing. Was gross and made it hard to consume. Trying to eat it while having to pick bones from my mouth that I almost had swallowed. That was the only bad thing from this certain experience.
Zohara
Only good thing about the place is the 24 hrs availabilty. The food is just Good and also has a lot of the variations. The breakfast options on pizass and the grandslam is a good try. The curlies are again something on the side dishes you can go for. The desserts and milkshakes however would be a perfect finishet. By the way Don't forget to ask for your free grand slam if it's your birthday.
Terri Staniland
Went here around 10.30pm staff were uninterested and not welcoming at all. Had to wait to be seated for 10 mins even though there were only 5 people in the place. After a wait they took our order, we only came for a snack so me and my friend got the seasoned wedges, curly fries and a couple of drinks. Food was slapped down on our table not bothering to ask who's meal was who's, food looked unappealing which for hot chips is a feat. Aioli with my fries was disgusting and the chips were dripping with oil. The wedges were bland and slightly cold. Drinks didn't arrive until after we finished our meal. Also staff were constantly chasing out what looked to be a homeless person so that was a bit off putting. Would never come back unless they seriously upgrade their menu, staff, and generally everything.
Sheenaali958
Needs renovations staff are alright I suppose price yeah needs to change too just don't change the taste of the chocolate desserts please 😇😬
Liam Emma
Came here for a birthday, it was abit busy we had a group of 8 adults and some kids. Order a premium burger the egg had egg shells in it. I told one of the waitresses who referred me to the manager who asked me to show her the egg shells I had just eaten and I said well that's going to be hard because I ate it but I left half of it on the plate and cut it open to check for more shells but by the time I finished checking I was over my meal. She pretty much told me I was after a free feed which I wasn't just gutted they treated me that way.
Benequeen
After years of sub-standard food and service, they have changed the menu and Staff actually seem happy to work there. Definitely going to frequent with the family.<br/>
Mocha
Got bacon pancakes and curly fries.. i dont know how you can go wrong with bacon but wow my bacon was really bland!!! <br/>The pancakes were also incredibly plain, even with the maple syrup it didn't taste that great. My partner got a cheese and bacon omlette and it wasnt even an omlette. The egg was cooked separately and they just put filling inside. <br/>The only thing that was nice was the curly fries, but they forgot the aoli and none of the waiters were walking around and wouldnt even look around when we tried getting their attention... <br/>My partner said Dennys in America is a lot better, cheaper and they have all you can eat pancakes. Sounds like we got the short end of the stick here lol.<br/><br/>Bad service, bad food. Won't come to Denny's in NZ again.
Sid
The service was okay. Denny's has large portions, the food is rich and filling. The restaurant is nice and clean. The price is decent for what you receive. Would recommend to anyone looking for a okay meal
Poonam K
Went there for breakfast. Friendly Staff, nice atmosphere, great experience. Prices are reasonable. Coffee was really good. Food was delicious. Waiting time was short. Overall great experience.
TheMʌverick
Biggest gripe - Decor is outdated. The service is decent & the staff are friendly enough. I'm a total sucker for their banana pancakes lol. Prices should be reviewed I reckon but for the love of God renovate the place already
Kelly Vilisoni-Richards
I come here every so often and it's always been the same dull atmosphere. <br/>Staff aren't too friendly, service could definitely be improved. I got food poisoning here from the chicken burger once 😣 <br/>Overpriced for average food. <br/>Denny's definitely needs an upgrade decor wise, staff wise, food wise, actually just needs a full on top to bottom upgrade lol.
Jayden Campbell
If you come to Danny's for dessert and curly fries, you'll leave happy. If you come for anything else, well, good luck to you. <br/><br/>Denny's is a well known restaurant which is aging badly amongst a rapidly developing New Lynn.<br/>The menu has barely changed since the day it opened, and the prices no longer stack up against other restaurants in this price range. <br/><br/>The X-Factor for Denny's is the fact that it's open 24/7, and you can order breakfast at any hour of the day. <br/><br/>Denny's is long overdue for a makeover, as chocolate mud cakes won't keep it floating forever.
Amee And Riko
Came here for an early dinner today(Sunday) and I really had an awesome time. The service was friendly but the waiter lady needed to smile and add a bit of enthusiasm in her speech but she did check up on us asking if everything was alright and asking if we wanted anything else. For once the food was out fast on the table(must of been the time we came here). We got a sampler entree that feeds the both of us that was really good. For our mains we got a T-bone steak that was cooked to perfection and got a Fettuccine Bolognese that was very yummy too! Both came with salad and a dressing. The meals are so fulling that we always take home the leftovers. Dearest are always the best part of dinner! And we got a banana split sundae also a sticky date pudding. Those did not last with us! We got a booth by the window and it was lovely getting the afternoon sun. I couldn't find any fault with my experience with Denny's today. Looking forward to coming back to try more food!
Dee
Not sure why we came here in the first place. The moment we walked in, it didn't feel very welcoming at all. The place is looking very tired and the staff are not trained well either. They were too busy chatting in the corner than looking after the patrons. The floor were dirty and napkins and receipts from previous guests were scattered on the floor. Nobody seems to bother to pick up a broom and clean up. The booth seats are not comfortable at all. The upholstery are shocking. Food are overpriced and didn't taste nice either. They really need to up their game especially with so many new restaurants in the area which offers nice ambience, better food and less price. The fish n chips I had was really oily and the coleslaw that came with it is a bit pointless really! The tartare sauce taste gross and so as the aioli. The burger wasn't great either very greasy and sickening. The chips were tasteless. Overall it wasn't a great experience. Sorry guys.
Arushi Thapar
Denny's is a must visit if you love American food. Had Fettucint Carobona pasta and onion rings with ranch dressing. Good quality and quantity food. <br/><br/>The staff is friendly and helpful. Liked the city decor more than this one but still Denny's is one of my favourite
Munterboy
Food was still frozen in the middle and when we complained they didn't say much and just zapped it in the microwave again. Service was also slow considering that they wernt busy.
Suga
Waited way too long for our order here. Me and my flatmate were so hungry we had just been to waj a fight. Got here at 11pm didn't get our food till nearly 12am food was very average. My Apple pie was pretty much crap I like Apple pie but this one was not great. The dennys in Hawaii that I have been to puts the dennys restaurants in nz to shame. I have been to dennys new lynn,Manukau, highland park and the city I think manukau was the best. Bit pricey for below average food tho.
LoveEatLive
I'll give this place a realistic 2.5... esp keeping in mind the city branch as well.<br/><br/>Sometimes the food is great and sometimes it makes you sick.<br/>Though the desserts are always good.
Lucy
My son insisted on going here for the curly fries, so agreed.  Unfortunately they were out of curly fries!!!  The food we did have was awful, hot dog (sausage had a chemical taste) luke warm fries, tasteless warm breakfasts, definitely will not be back.  Dennys really does have a specific target market, and with a few minor changes ( i.e. hot food, fresh food) they could improve things significantly.

Hot Fudge Cake:<br/>A perfect dessert to end the day with. Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla icecream in d middle, whipped cream to the sides nd hot chocolate syrup to end with. An onomatopoeiaic YUM is d only compliment that justifies this heavenly dessert.
Soni.jay231287
It was a great experience for me to ate hot fudge cake with my friends. Yummy yummy taste & service was given really quick by a girl (nidhi). I will be come next time again and again. Nice place for dessert. We can say a yummy "dessert hub"

Visited Denny's in New Lynn recently for lunch and had to wait for service for a while was okay until the server came and she was unwelcoming, unable to crack a smile and due to her bad service made us want to rewind and leave.  She sat us at a ripped up booth that needs to be repaired like her customer service.  Looked at the menu and prices high in my opinion considering the pasta dish more expensive at Denny's than the Italian restaurant La Porchetta a minute walk away you think should charge most for being more authentic.  We decided to try the food only to wait for the waitress to return was too long so we didn't bother anymore with her bad service and left.  Doubt will return unless they revamp or replaced with another food outlet.

Sometimes we just feel like Denny's, its old-style american diner atmosphere is sometimes a bit creepy but the menu is greasy, sweet and super unhealthy... perfect for a late-night feast.<br/><br/>Here, you can see the millennium burger, falls apart in seconds and turns into a plate full of slop very quickly. I personally enjoy the chicken burger as it is a bit more realistic and actually tastes quite good.

Have dined at new Lynn restaurant several times, but tonight was a huge disappointment. Waited nearly an hour for our meals, children had to wait for half an hour for their desserts, which was a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles....not something that would take a lot of time to prepare. Then the big wait for adult desserts, we had to ask for them to be brought out even though our waitress was walking back and forth seeing that all main meals were finished. Half an hour later, desserts were brought out,  2 of our group had to ask for the coffees which were ordered with their dessert. Also disappointed that all the dirty dishes from the main meal remained on our table throughout dessert and coffee, usually these are cleared once you're finished eating. Sorry Denny's but you had a very disgruntled group of 14 diners who probably won't be returning

Been there last two nights for dinner. A few years ago, I would go several times a week and shout a bunch of people. Prices have gone up as would expect. You can't increase minimum wage without increasing prices to the customers. Satay roll with fries is always my favorite. Filling and not a bad price. If you want 5 star service and food.... go pay 5 star prices. Nice place to go and eat. A step up from mc donalds. .... but obviously not the regent... but neither are the prices.

The stake was too tough to chew. Not equal to the price at all. Service was good but I wanted exactly medium only. It's the first time to visit there, but also the last time.
Claudia Serra
Okay for a late night cheap and cheerful but not the place to go for high quality food - the prices are mixed - some really affordable others, in my opinion, way too high for what you get. Curly fries are always a win and the desserts have always been great but that's about all I would come here for!
Spencer's Reviews
Service was very friendly however food is decent and is always served hot, but could improve on quality and taste. I do like how the Satay roll has made a comeback, the Queen Street franchise is a bit better but New Lynn comes a close second.

Very busy and noisey place to visit, as it is a family restaurant.  Meals and desserts are average, and the service was not efficient.  Not too sure if I would return back, maybe for dessert.
Manu
Usually just come here for dessert only and it's always good. Service is good and nothing to complain about. My go to for a good hot fudge cake 😊

I love that they open 24hrs on fri&sat. I come here a lot since it close to my house, and I'm a big fan of their buffalo wingers. The food is average and some of menu can be too salty or too sweet. Friendly service

Went with the family for both my wife and eldest sons birthday. Overall it was a good service, it wasn't as packed tonight. Food was good overall.

Ordered our food, surprised that it didn't take that long. I ordered a surf and turf with mash potatoes instead of fries & veges instead of salad. They gave me the smallest scoop of mash. I ordered medium rare. It had uncooked fat and it was rare & chewy. Broccoli was undercooked. Plus they forgot the sundae that we had ordered so we had to wait for it to be made. It wasn't packed at all. At least their staff was friendly. Good job the vodka coke was strong cos it saved me in the end haha

It's never pretended to be gourmet but our last visit showed that standards have slipped. Service was good but food just wasn't nice at all. Stick to curly fries & desserts to avoid disappointment.

The only good thing here is burgers and dessert that is all service is okay. Been here many times. I will come again especially for burgers desserts and their curly fries. Curly fries at Denny's are the best

Been here a couple times and been dissapointed with the food. However, just went two nights ago and the quality of food has seemed to up its standards. The new garlic bread for $5 is definitely worth it. Customer service is lacking with waitresses as they seem like they dont even want to be there. Overall, average

We only ever come to Denny's when we're feeling like burgers, curly fries and dessert. I've tried their other mains but they really aren't that great! My favorite things about this Denny's is that it is 24/7 on some nights, the all day breakfast, the buffalo wings, the burgers and the desserts! <br/><br/>Service is okay — we've had some waitresses forget about what we ordered sometimes and sometimes when we call them over it feels as though we're really annoying them! <br/><br/>The buffalo wings have increased in price by about $5 over the years though, which is really sad :( Used to be good value for money but they've risen to about $20 now so I just get burgers instead! <br/><br/>I got a $25 deal they had going on tonight: a three course meal: prawn cocktail for my entree, premium burger for my main and hot fudge cake for my dessert. <br/><br/>The premium burger is THE burger to get. With three patties and a whole lot of other stuff, I promise you'll be full and ready to food coma after! The desserts are amazing as well! <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Average with high prices. Went there the other night and had to wait 30 mins for dessert. Ordered coffee. Possibly the worst I've ever tasted, tasted like packet coffee. In saying the the bread and butter pudding was good but no where near worth the 30 mins wait. Service is ok. Depends who you get. I've also had to wait 20 mins for a jug of water which I thought was weird. Do Denny's hand drill the ground for it?

Burgers are passable. Steak is not the best and at its price is not recommended. We enjoyed the curly fries with aeoli. Service is so and so. It was full when we came on a thursday night and place is noisy.

Very Sad, I've been coming here for about 15 years, would always be a favorite, but last few years, not great at all. Wait times can be a shocker, food heading below average. For what you're being charged for what you're getting, not good. Until standards lift, I won't be back anytime soon.

Denny's New Lynn are consistent with other branches in their serving quantities and their quality of service. The feel of this outlet is very chill and family friendly. Open late but not 24 hours on weekdays. I like to come here for desserts and small bites when catching up with friends. Personal faves: curly fries (good to share; big servings for the price), the Snowball dessert, and any of their shakes.

Very good tasty food. Not too bad of a wait time for each meal being prepared. Food cooked well and drinks are very tasteful. Nice place to grab a feed any time of the day or evening.

Many decades ago this place their pancakes, early eggs bene meals was the shizzle. Now it's just fizzle 😑<br/>Service: could not fault it. Efficient, friendly and prompt.<br/>Decor: Tired outdated and in need of a face lift to keep up with the rest of up and coming New Lynn.<br/>Food: let's talk something called food...<br/>Daughter was pleased with her chicken fajita skillet dish. Said it was delicious and as I didn't try it I couldn't vouch the same.<br/>I had the pancakes soft poached eggs with bacon and sausages.<br/>Soft poached eggs...not so soft. You know they say a sign of a great chef is a great plain omelette. I think soft poached eggs is another test!<br/>Pancakes were doughy and rubbery.<br/>Syrup was thick and nasty.<br/>Sausages were warm bland and old tasting.<br/>The two bacon strips had been swimming in oil for sometime but crispy I guess.<br/>The cappucino tasted like the hot water had been boiled in a rusty can over a camp fire.<br/>This place needs to clean up its act and get a huge makeover.<br/>I'm rating it two. One for the lovely lady who greeted us and two for the friendly waitress who makes great tropical smoothies.

was not happy with the over experience waiting times and having to find someone to take orders wasn't the night I expected seemed there was a lack of communications amongst staff food was OK.. staff were nice when we could get ones attentions but to spend over $100 dollars and come out feeling the way I did don't think I'll go there again if I can help it

Denny's is a great family restaurant. Lots of space for strollers and since the tables are spaced out it's fairly quiet and relaxed. Great for birthdays since birthday person gets a free meal. Had the Moroccan lamb steak which was really tasty and their special curly fries. The surf n turf was OK too. Love the pizzas here too, great value. The main meals are a bit pricey (esp without the birthday deal) but come in large portions. Service is really good here.

I have been to this branch over the course of 4years and can definitely say they are picking things up. The service is so much better now-noticed more wait staff on duty each night which is probably why they are more attentive now and why the bathrooms are alot more maintained. The food arrives so much quicker now and always cooked to the same standard. I am happy to have given this place a second chance four years back. Keep up the good work guys! Good to see improvement in service, food and hygiene.

Ew. The place was dirty, my seat was dirty, had mayo and grease on it. I wasn't keen on going there in the first place but went as my friends were wanting to. I got a vege burger as I didn't want any meat from a place like that and I usually get the vegetarian meals anyway. The patty had peas and corn in it which was a bit odd, looked like it had been frozen and then just heated and fryed a bit. The burger came with frys which were the best part of my whole meal, but weren't that outstanding, from a packet obviously. I decided to go for dessert because I thought you wouldn't be able to get it that wrong and got some sort of hot cake with ice cream and cream. The cream was out of one of those squirty fake supermarket cans which I was actually expecting but I wasn't able to eat the actual cake and hot chocolate sauce because it was so disgusting. The hot "chocolate" sauce tasted like old socks or something. I literally just ate around it and ate the vanilla ice cream which was fine, thank god. The man taking our orders couldn't really speak English extremely well either and couldn't answer our question of the prices of the kids brownie meal which I found kinda poor. I will never ever go back there again.

average. typical Denny's. nothing special ever. this particular branch is quite often more disappointing than others food wise. service depends on the wait staff. need to be consistent which they never are. sad really.

Met up with my two girl mates for a catch up after nearly a year and half. Memories this place, our casual meet up. First time in two years back at Denny's. The staff are awesome and more friendlier on this visit. The staff, guy with a broken arm, Sunday 8th feb 15. Thank you for moving us to a more spaced area, for serving us with a smile at all time, thank you- ur awesome. Food was yum. So was my dessert- love apple pie mmmmmm

Had the mushroom burger with fries combo. Too me everything to over priced and this was the cheapest meal that I got which was pretty decent. Coming to a price of $12, burger wasn't too bad felt pretty fatty though. Had banana split for desert which redeemed my experience a bit. Very delicious desert.

Average. Food looked kinda appetizing. Great customer service.also liked their oreo milkshakes. Recommend that drink. A great place to eat for when you are too lazy to cook dinner at home. Has a homey environment in terms of food.

I just wanted to post photos of Dennys but for me, Dennys is just overpriced junkish and boring food served in a tacky atmosphere and good for families with children, but I'm too young to use Dennys for that tbh!

The nachos we ordered came out looking like they had been shat out of a mexicans ass.

This is a nice place to have lunch. The service staff are good and friendly. The combo meal with a pizza and drink is worth it. The best part was the curly fries with the aioli dip. It was amazing.... Rest of the menu was quite expensive but three of us could eat to our hearts content in less than 20$ which was worth it.

On my husband's mother's birthday, I suggested dining at Denny's since we have never been there before. (New Lynn)<br/><br/>Food was terrible. Ordered 1 pork loin which s chunk of pork fats served on the plate. 2 lamb steak and 1 T-bone steak medium but turned up fully cooked. Garlic and herbs chicken was extremely dry and only felt lukewarm. Mushroom cheese burger was a disaster too, with dried patty without taste. My daughter had kids meal fettuccine carbonara which tasted just like cream and cheesy pasta. Most food were served warm and hardly felt hot! <br/><br/>Probably the best dish was buffalo wings, though it wasn't truly fantastic. <br/><br/>I must say we are extremely disappointed with the whole food experience. Three wait staffs served us, only 1 was friendly enough. Manager was well mannered and offered us discount but really that is not the issue. We were simply disappointed that they did not acknowledge their weakness and did not even assure us that they would follow up.<br/><br/>Anyway, I would rate this a zero if I could. Definitely never returning again. I wonder why people bother going.

Food quality has gone down hill in comparison to the other times I have dined here. Thought it was just an off night so went again &amp; yeah...spiralling down hill. Didn't mind the prices prior to the food quality heading to Failville, now it's over priced for microwave dinner looking type food.<br/><br/>Staff are friendly, cook needs to go back across the road to McDonalds to flip burgers again &amp; the TVs need to be fixed or turned off, they charge enough so should get new ones. Waiting for food watching 1 tv that glitches with scrolling picture &amp; then turn to watch the other tv that goes in &amp; out of reception every 30 seconds.<br/><br/>Wiping a table with a paper napkin doesn't count as cleaning it.

Have been to Denny's New Lynn a couple of times have also visited the manukau and porirua branches on the odd ocassion. I would say the New Lynn branch is well staffed and provides a nice atmosphere. My last visit i had the T-Bone steak with a party of 4, Meat was cooked correctly to order the salad was nice and fresh, drinks were served prompted and the wait staff was ok.<br/><br/>Positives:<br/>Quick delivery of meals<br/>Nicely standardized and always to order<br/><br/>Negatives:<br/>Wait staff can sometimes be over run with to many customers, visited on a busy day and was not even looked at by the wait staff after original orders. noticed 2 staff on the floor with around 20-30 customers.

haven't had a bad experience at Denny's New Lynn so far, so happy to recommend, the service we get is always wonderful. the older lady with the glasses, she is awesome and so accommodating. the food is what is expected now of Denny's, back in the days it was really good but over the years it has gone down, and for the amount you have to spend now. we usually only dine on birthdays for if we are starving and nothing else open that late, but New Lynn branch is best and not far behind city branch. i think Denny's NZ need to re-evaluate there menu and the way they cook. also the child menu should be 12-13yrs and under not 10.<br/>i think if Gordon Ramsay ate at Denny's NZ he would be appalled.
Justine
Waitress was rude and abrupt. Interrupted us while eating our main to ask if we could please order dessert. She expected us to let our dinner go cold so she could take our order. Steak was well done not medium as requested. Vegetables were way over cooked soggy and tasteless. Sauce for vegetables looked like wallpaper paste and tasted terrible (flour, water and pepper). 'Baked potato' was not baked at all, tasted like it was pre boiled and then microwaved! Dessert was actually good. Asked for a private table and was offered a table with no privacy what so ever. Took it upon ourselves to find another table as there was hardly anyone there. Then they proceed to sit a loud rowdy rough group right next to us who were swearing. Will not ever be going there again. The ladies clearing the tables were lovely though.

Terrible terrible terrible. <br/><br/>1. Received the wrong steak order. Staff then argumentative. <br/>2. Entree plates were never cleared.<br/>3. Sent the steak back, received 20 minutes later.<br/>4. That steak was well done and not medium rare.<br/>5. My partners request for a Tea was ignored.<br/>6. The Tables were dirty.<br/><br/>The Staff were rude and were more insistent in convincing me they were right and I was wrong.<br/><br/>The manager did not give a toss either way and offered a half hearted, "I'll let them know to look at tables"<br/><br/>I've sent feedback to Head Office and have not heard anything after 2 and half weeks.<br/><br/>I would not return and encourage others not to go in the first place. Waste of $$$.

I went to New Lynn this February. I was a little wary after telephoning the night before in order to determine the restaurant's opening hours and not being able to get a straight answer, despite speaking to two staff. Nonetheless, I persevered and enjoyed my late lunch in LynnMall.<br/><br/>My waitress was a middle-aged woman who knew her job and the menu, and wasn't burdened with an enormous chip on her shoulder like so many hospitality staff are today. My meal was delicious and I was happy to have daytime soap operas on the in-restaurant TVs. My one complaint would be that I didn't know there was a train station right across the road; that would have been much faster than my hour-long bus trip from Karangahape Road.
Bill Carter
I dine at Denny's New Lynn often, never had anything to complain about, guess it depends on the person I suppose.
Arielle
Though the service is a little slow at times it's not that bad and the employees from memory have always been polite. I very much enjoy their food and say they have the best cheesecake I have ever had, though I do admit it's not exactly cheap, I still enjoy going there and would more often if I could afford it.

I have dined at Dennys New Lyn on several occasions most times against my wishes but only because they are open 24/7, on 1 paticular night I had gone there with 2 of my friends, we were shown to our tables in an orderly fashion and with great speed (mind you the restaurant had only a couple of other diners) and a few minutes later the waiter came and took our orders. So $100 + later we are sitting there waiting for our meals to arrive, I think roughly a half hour or so minutes later were greeted wth all our dishes, I had ordered the pork loin meal and was highly disappointed at the size of the portion for the amount of money they were asking for the dish! Small very very small and dry az and plus the chef had cut slices in the loin to check to see if it was cooked! and then 1 of my friends had ordered the chicken satay skewers on rice, his chicken skewers were dry as a desert! so after many minutes of arguing and I mean ARGUING with the waiter that I was not willing to pay $28 or something dollars for a stingy piece of dried up meat so please can u take this plate back and give me something else that costs the same as that dish, the waiters answer NO! Now you can understand how offended I was and was not backing down to this non-intelligent person! Im the customer I'm always right!! end result we left the Restaurant but only paid for the meals that were eaten, however, DENNYS feels that they needed to put up photos of me and my friends for no apparent reason!!!!!!! But the funny thing is I still go there every now and then against my will most times and the waiters / waitresses dont even know who I am! lol...... Disgusting restaurant! with all the bad reviews especially about your service one would think that they would be closed down or the big kahunas would do a major overhaul of customer services workers there...... Come on Dennys get your stuff together!!!!!!!!!!!........ You dont deserve any stars with the performance that most of your workers display!!!!!!!!!!! But in order to post my comment I had to give a rating! Appalling
Georgia
I dine at Dennys alot mainly because it's open 24 hours. I went last night and got the pork loin steak and my pork was bleeding all over my plate. Soo not happy with this. Staff hapily replaced the pork but all my vegetables were cold by the time my new one got sent out

Have dined here with family a couple of times this year. Both experiences appalling! 1st experience, Nachos were soggy and disgusting and the meximelt burger was tasteless! We have been coming here a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed it so I was very disappointed with this visit. The later experience was during the last school holidays and was just as bad.We had dinner with the kids. My husband ordered Snapper and Chips for our daughter for around $18.50. My husband went to cut the fish and it wasnt snapper. They had served us gurnet. After telling the waitress that it wasnt snapper, she disagreed with us and said it was. " My husband's profession for the last 15 years is filleting and processing orders for various types of fish so he definitely knows his fish" I replied. She went to talk to the manager. We waited and waited. She never came back. Not happy at all. I ended up sharing my meal with my daughter.I spoke with another waitress (an older woman) who was very lovely and polite (hence the 2 stars) and asked her to tell her manager, he needed to take the Snapper &amp; Chips off the Menu because it was false advertising and very unfair to other customers who wouldnt know the difference between the two fish. So If you ever order Snapper &amp; chips at New Lynn, MAKE SURE that it is Snapper!! Although they gave us a refund for the meal which we never ate..we never received a sincere apology or an alternative for another meal. If I ever go to Dennys again it sure as hell wont be New Lynn!! And i'd be telling all my family and friends as well (As word of mouth travels very fast). Disappointed customer.

The most revolting restuarant I have ever been to. I felt so sick after being served I couldn't eat my burger. The lady serving us was to my horror...sick! Every time she spoke to us she would stiff a whole lot of flem up her nose! And she was sneezing and coughing everywhere. Food was next to cold. Did not feel welcome. Appalled.

meals are quick, service is good. very good value for money.

Over the years we've had the misfortune to patronise Denny's in several locations.<br/><br/>In 2006 we visited Denny's North Shore and waited for 15 minutes, attempting to get the attention of staff to be seated. Eventually our party left.<br/><br/>In 2007 we were able to get a seat in Denny's Hobson Street but after 45 minutes we were still being told by staff to "hold on", with no order being taken. It was well staffed and nearly empty of customers at the time. We left hungry.<br/><br/>A few nights ago, 2008, we turned up at Denny's New Lynn. They have an obnoxious new policy of pre-paying for your meal. You must order and pay before you can even be seated. Coupled with this is the wall next to the pay desk covered in trespass notices against previous customers, complete with photographs.<br/><br/>We eventually decided on our meals, paid and were seated. Our order arrived promptly enough but without cutlery. A staff member who cleaned tables next to us for five minutes ignored any attempts at communication (and I'm quite a loud person when I want to be). We couldn't locate any cutlery ourselves so after twenty minutes of sitting around we finished what we could with fingers and left. As we left it became apparent where the staff were: three of them were outside talking to some guy off the street we'd seen walking past when we arrived. Too bad about the pre-pay, as this was an absolute gem of a dine-and-dash opportunity both logistically and morally.<br/><br/>Don't ever, ever, ever waste your time on a Denny's restaurant. Ever.

Awesome place for late night hangouts. Quite laidback atmosphere as you'd expect from the brand and a varied mouth watering menu. You cant go wrong with the food. But yeah, can certainly raise the bar for customer service.
