Very authentic Kerala food in New Plymouth. We didn’t expect to have such a good food and great service. Try Kumarokam policha meen and porotta for sure !

I do like this place despite is location next to a busy Highway. The staff are always friendly and last night we were entertained by a very happy 5 year old boy. He had quite a bit to say and had bollywood style moves to support it. The food tasted fresh - fresh herbs and spices, tender meat and breads were awesome. It was flavoursome and plentiful. Looking forward to my next meal here

This was our first time trying South Indian food and it did not disappoint! The waiter was very helpful in recommending and explaining dishes to us. The dosas and the gobi manchurian were definitely the highlights and we'll be back the next time we're in town!

Went to Radio Malabar for the first time tonight, the food and service was really good. The food was divine, we all ordered a different dish and shared and had a dosa to start, mushroom and chicken, all delicious. We had heaps left over too. BYO so a good meal out for a reasonable price. We will definitely be back.

Good restaurant with very friendly owner. It is not the standard Indian restaurant so most of the dishes on the menu were unknown to us. The owner was more than happy to recommend dishes so that we had a bit of culinary experience. We loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Radio Malabar. The service was friendly and efficient, The food was fantastic. Loved the fact that parking wasn't a problem. Will happily go back or recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere nice to dine.

A great place to dine with friends! I especially love the dosas and the many flavourful vegetarian dishes on offer. It isn't expensive and is licenced to byo wine. I always enjoy very good service here with excellent menu recommendations.

The dosa was great, and so were the curries we tried! I'd hardly heard of any of the curries on the menu, and it was great to see and try more than the top ten usual suspects. Very polite and attentive service, too.

Authentic as they come! Outstanding Indian food from Kerala. Fresh authentic ingredients, generous with the herbs and spices, and great service. The roti is the best I've had anywhere outside of India. The fish curries are not to be missed!

Me and my friends had dinner on a Saturday evening at this authentic Kerala restaurant. From the decor, good hospitality and food, it reminded me of true South India. The food is truly special and the service is very professional. We had a variety of starters, but the entrée Malabari Mushroom 65 & Chicken spring Dosa were my favorites. Keep on serving good food! Thanks!

Excellent food, the parathas are amazing and the two curries we got were also. The next time I'm in New Plymouth I'm definitely making my way back here to try their biryani which looked amazing too!

Radio Malabar's food is top notch and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There's something rather unique about the flavors compared to other Indian Restaurants and it keeps my family coming back for more. And more. And more...

With not many south Indiana restaurants in town, it's pretty slim pickings. This one's a slightly cheaper version of Kathakali but isnt a long way off in terms of food(at least). Their curries are decent and varieties aplenty. Customer service however, let's you down. Not expressive and don't understand the menu properly. If you know what to order, the place is a decent once in a fortnight foray.

Genuine South Indian food is a real treat, so having Malabar in Fitzroy is a real boon for gourmands in the city. The food was very tasty, if robbed of a little nuance by a desire to cater for Kiwi tastes. Recommended!

Food was okay. Flavours are definitely distinct from your typical Northern Indian cuisine (and this is a strong point made by the business in their menu). But I did feel a bit let down by the biryani - I felt it was lacking a bit of oomph or zing - like ginger, or something. They didn't have payasam as a dessert that day, so that was a let down too.

Best Indian, I ever tried. It was different from the usual North Indian favourites, But I am sure that you will love their dishes. Me and my partner also tried their Weekend South Indian vegetarian Buffet as well. Well done Radio Malabar management and team. good luck

Great flavour and overall amazing food! Service was nice and considerate without being over the top. I would definitely recommend this restaurant A+++.

Really great spicy South Indian food worth the price. And omg the curries and the Kerela kappa with beef was really awesome, I never expected a South Indian restaurant in NZ could have such spicy food, must try. Check out the Sunday buffet as well really nice South Indian breakfast for affordable price.

Really good food. Dosa was huge and hubby loved it, real kiwi bloke food. Beef curry very tasty. Gosi cauliflower really good too, like veggie sweet and sour pork. Nice music, okay setting, good wine selection. Took the plates away a bit too fast for my liking but I'm a traditionalist . Will go again

We weren't sure what to expect from the outside. But once we sat down the service and food was amazing. We had a great time. Great to try some different Indian food.
Definitely going back again!

Radio Malabar a new restaurant in New Plymouth specialising in South Indian cuisine. What a fantastic experience, really different taste from your usual Indian food. Tantalising on the taste buds. I was very impressed with the authentic food, it was so nice to try something that was made to such a high calibre. Wonderful service with friendly staff. (The plates were even warmed up with every meal and a fresh serviette bought out). If you want a really decent different meal at an affordable price, I highly recommend this new restaurant. (-:

Do not judge this restaurant from its exterior. Despite this restaurant being around for a few months, we landed here only by chance recently, as we could not find any other Indian place open at that time.
We ordered Drums of Heaven, Chicken Biryani, Chilli Chicken and Paratha, and were blown away with the amazing food. This place is different and offers a variety of authentic Indian cuisine, which is different from the standard menu offered by other Indian places in town.
The prices are competitive and portion sizes are decent.
We want to go again soon, this time by choice, and try some other food varieties here.

Best Indian restaurant here in New Plymouth and I am so glad it exists! If you are undecided on what to try, go for their briyanis which are authentic and out-of-this-world! Good value for money and you have to bring a friend cos' it's way too much for one person (unless you're as hungry as me).

I also tried their fish curry (first one on the seafood list) and that was amazing too. Next time round, I am bringing a friend so that we can sample more dishes.

The mango dessert is great but the portion is a bit tiny for the price you pay. Would have been perfect if the portion matched the price. Can't complain about the taste though as it's very good.

Will be back again soon. Good job, guys!

Don't be put off by the exterior of this restaurant. We decided to give it a go one night and were blown away by the food and service we had. Even the wine list is better than most other local Indian restaurants. We will be back, frequently!

Amazing food! For entree we had chicken dosa, and drums of heaven, and for our mains we had chicken stew and beef pepper masala. Highly recommend. Great service and food. The food was authentic and the meals came out fast. Will def be visiting again.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, from the roadside it doesn't look much and had passed it on many occasions, however now after enjoying the most fantastic meal there, we doubt we'll be passing by it again. The food was fabulous and the Hubby and I are BIG curry fans...but the service was brilliant as well - overall a 5 stars deserved!

Beautiful food. Nice alternative to other Indian restaurants in New Plymouth which all seem to taste very similar. Much more authentic and offers a wide range of food as well as the more common curries. Service was great and price is just right. Will definitely be back for more dosa!

Great to dine at an Indian restaurant that prides itself on genuine cuisine of South India. Excellent personal service and no parking hassles. Subtle and complex flavours with a chilli kick optional. Our byriani and dosas were stand-outs but plenty more tempting choices for our next visit, which will be soon.

The curries were excellent and their service was very welcoming.

Plenty of parking, generous portions. These are South Indian dishes, so be prepared to try something a little different.

I would recommend the whole fish wrapped in banana leaves, or the lamb mappas.

If you want to have authentic Malabar Biriyani in New Zealand, then this is the apt place. All dishes are really mouth watering and budgeted price when compared to other restaurants. Nice ambiance and enough car parking facilities. Thanks to Radio Malabar. Congrats, keep moving.

Real authentic Kerala curries and byrianis. Byrianis and seafood dishes are outstanding Ample free car parking. Budget menu and not overpriced. I believe Radio Malabar is not an add on Indian restaurant in New plymouth. Final word Try Chicken byriani and Fish Pollichathu with Appam...

Excellent Indian food for me - I love the Indian flavours, but cannot handle the Chilli/hot spices (I mean even mild is HOT for me). But there are a number of really good options for me at Radio Malabar that are either not too hot to begin with, or I can ask to have mild (and still be confident that not spicy means not spicy when I get it!). The flavours of the Radio Malabar dishes are amazing. I've only had take-away so far (and that's good too because there is good parking and I don't have to driver around the block a million times to get a park to pick-up my Indian takeaways like most of the other places in New Plymouth). My favourite dish is the Malabar Chicken Curry.

The food is amazing for those whose love variety and authenticity. Mouth watering curries and tempting Masala Dosa are the one I fall in love with...Recommended for a must visit place.. very pleased to have a restaurant like Radio Malabar in Taranaki..
