Review Bella Vita - New Plymouth

went out for dinner with my best friend here last night. our server was absolutely amazing, really friendly. the food was great, came out quick. the carbonara is fantastic, creamy and super yummy. and my vodka del pollo risotto was super flavoursome, not what I expected at all. our mocktails were also really nice, not too sweet. berry breeze and raspberry mojito. a bit pricey, but for a really nice time out and lovely experience all around, well worth it. really enjoyed my time on my little date ☺️

Such a beautiful energy I felt as if I was in a different country. Italian vibes were present with the music in the background too. The seating arrangement seems a tad close buuuut it was okay where we were seated. The food was absolutely filling and delicious. Even had something to occupy my 8 year old which was good. We ended with a delicious desert. I very much recommend Bella Vista to everyone.

excellent all round. pizza and pasta was great, but the mussels entree were the highlight! the service was excellent, young lady named Helsa I think? she was friendly, welcoming and warm. Very happy with our dining experience here. Highlight of our holiday in New Plymouth. Thank you!

We came for pizza, but I changed to the prawn main. It was delicious. Kids had pizza which were nice too. Very prompt and friendly service. The only downside was a new person was being trained and the way they were spoken to wasn't ideal; sounded like the person was frustrated with them and talked down on them (which they are entitled to be, but not in front of customers).

Went out today for a birthday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Our friendly waitress Chrissy was amazing providing a relaxed & efficient dining experience, awesome service & delicious food to match. Throughly recommend lunch here. And thank you for my surprise dessert it made my day!

The restaurant is the middle of the hight street. Parking could be challenging so be prepared. We went around the lunch time on the long weekend and they still had lunch specials 👌. We ordered Rissotto, Carbonara and Pizza bread with cheese as starters. Risotto was the best dish of all. Flavourful and just the right quantity. Staff was nice and friendly. Overall a good restaurant to be when in town 😃

The host was very good, service was fast.. two gluten free meals and non gluten free meals were awesome too.. Cocktails weren't bad either

This is a nice place with a great atmosphere, great service and great prices. Extra-special pasta dishes are yummy and give some education to people unfamiliar with Italy. Great wine list. The convenient location is close and central. We enjoyed our experience and expect to return.

We had a great function at Bella Vita. The food was great and the staff were lovely.

Highly recommended. My friends and I went here to have brunch. The food was nothing short of amazing and the staff was very accommodating. Shout out to the waiter on duty (We forgot to ask his name) for the top notch service. He helped make my partner’s birthday even more special. Definitely coming here again!

The atmosphere was great!!! We sat outside and enjoyed the music. The food was fantastic!! And the staff we so freindly and fun, and made the atmosphere even more enjoyable!

Lovely restaurant, fabulous pasta and very filling. The Tiramisu was one of the best we've had in a while.

Came here for an early dinner for work. Lovely food, little bit on the expensive side, but very tasty. We ordered the kids spaghetti bolognaise and it came out super quick which was great! And it was more an adult portion, so good value for money! Also got the risotto and a good sized pizza too! All very nice. Lovely service, and checked up on drinks too. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Nice Italian restaurant at the city centre serving tasty Peroni beer on tap. Veg chilli Pizza and Risotto bruschetta was yummy. Good service

Visited here with my partners family. Had booked a table so were seated immediately. The waitress was lovely and brought us over some water, and asked for any drink orders; Later taking the order for food... with no entree’s ordered we were prepared for our mains to come relatively quickly. Waiting, admiring the decor for over 30 minutes is when we finally got impatient and asked the whereabouts of our meals, when confirmed they would be on their way soon we waited again patiently. Another 10ish minutes later our plates were finally released from the kitchen! A pizza, Bolognese, Gnocchi, pork belly and prawn pasta. The pizza looked delicious but was doughy. The prawns in the pasta were overcooked and rubbery. The bolognese was bland -I’ve never really had luck with bolognese so no surprises! Gnocchi was tasty though, plenty of flavour. Overall very disappointed with our experience here, not much was done to correct the fact we were watching other customers arrive after us, eat and leave all before our meals arrived. Would hope the service improves.

Could not fault the food or the service we received. It was an absolute amazing experience and I would highly recommend going again if I'm back in New Plymouth.

I ate here on a Thursady night, I was in early so the restaurant was quiet when I arrived, it filled up quite quickly thereafter.  I opted for the lasagne "special" which was accompanied by roast potatoes and beautifully glazed vegetables.  An ample proportion of food at very reasonable cost, good wine and great service.

YUM.  We have been several times with big groups for a birthday, to couples walking in after a few drinks in town.Fresh tastes are their standout. My favourite is the Seafood Marinara with it's twist of citrus  - YUM.  A mix of staff, some are very high end, one or two need a little more polishing. Highly recommend eating here

Myself and friends have eaten at Bella Vita Restaurant several times for night meals and also for lunch. The food has always been outstanding and the table service, of a high standard. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to everyone (as indeed I have been over the past few years). I would advise booking ahead as this restaurant is mostly fully booked. My last meal there a fortnight ago, I took a friend who dines out extensively here in New Zealand and overseas including fine dining in Europe and she was very impressed with the both the food choices on the menu and the delicious food.

We have been going here for four years now and have never been disappointed with the food. On Friday we were seated quickly although the restaurant was busy, and our drinks arrived in good time. My vodka chicken was superb and my partner was very complimentary about the seafood linguine. The only problem with that was the mussels which you have to eat with your fingers - no finger bowl was provided.<br/>My only real gripe is that the menu has so many grammatical and spelling errors - the dessert menu was particularly bad. For me, this kind of sloppiness is not acceptable.

I had the unfortunate luck to take a customer there for dinner last night and it was pretty poor. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and the steak with blue cheese. Disappointed almost immediately, the Parmigiana was not what we expected at all. It was a boiled chicken breast with minimal tomato sauce and maybe a sliver of cheese. The side dishes were roast potatoes (burnt) and vegetables that looked as if they were done in the microwave. We left our meals half eaten. we received no apology and certainly no reduction in the final cost. When leaving i expressed our unhappiness again and were told that the kitchen thought everything was cooked to perfection. In other words bugger you customer we thought it was fine. Will not be recommending it and certainly not going back

We were visiting New Plymouth over the weekend and being unfamiliar with the local eateries, we blindly chose to eat at Bella Vita. What a great choice! The menu is extensive without being overwhelming. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the pricing is reasonable. Great evening spent there! Would highly recommend.

Bella Vita serve a wonderful lunch menu at at unbelievable price. Service was excellent, the ambiance was fine and more importantly the taste was outstanding. We are well served for dining in the 'naki now and Bella Vita stands out.

This restaurant is great. <br/><br/>Amazing selection of meals to choose from, not just pasta. If you are also a dessert fan then you will enjoy.<br/><br/>The meals were absolutely delicious , they were enjoyed by everyone and we all said that we would most definitely go back which we have for lunches as well.<br/><br/>The Service was very friendly and prompt.<br/><br/>It has a lovely little bar that you can sit at and chat to the friendly barman.<br/><br/>The only thing I would say is that it would have just topped it off if we had a fire going just to add a bit of a romantic warmth

Just had another great meal at Bella. Started with a delicious bruschetta with tomato salsa. Vegetale arrabiata was great , as usual, and the stuffed pork fillets that my wife had were fantastic. Servings are a good size and all cooked to perfection. Garlic pizza bread was tasty and crisp and great with my meal so I could mop up all the lovely sauce.My wife said I could lick the plate but I managed to resist:-)<br/>My wife had a huge feijoa sorbet for dessert. I was sure she wouldn't be able to finish it but there was no way she was going to stop, even when it was accompanied by major brain freeze<br/>Service was great also, even though they were quite busy.<br/><br/>The restaurant has been recently expanded into the shop next door but it maintains the cosy atmosphere as both sides of the restaurant are partially separated by a wall. Even though it was full you could still hold a conversation without yelling.<br/>Excellent night out...we shall return!

Great service, friendly waitresses although they did clear the rest of the family's plates before I had finished eating and were a little too quick to give us the dessert menus before I had had chance to let my main course settle. The steaks were well cooked - my medium rare was perfect and the vegetables were good too. The vegetarian ravioli was a little on the small side but tasted ok. Desserts were lovely. Pleasant surroundings. Took a while to get their attention to pay the bill! probably 3 and a half stars!

Great place for a romantic dinner. Lovely small dining room with lots of evening sun, courtyard looked nice too. Food was quick and delicious. Breads &amp; dips to start with were a bit meager, but dinner substantial and dessert delicious - even though no evidence of Baileys in the Baileys mousse. <br/>Overall a very pleasent dining experience, just need a pizza oven and it would be perfect.

Every time we have been to Bella, it has been of a very high standard. It is one of my fav. restaurants in New Plymouth (next to Portofino and Andres). The standard is excellent, the staff very warm, friendly and the service great. The food is delicious, especially the desserts. We love our experiences at Bella Vita

than you bella vita for making my wifes birthday one to remember.We had a table for 8 the waitress was extremely sweet , obliging and attentive nothing was to much trouble the food came at the perfect time and was first class <br/>we will definitely recommend bella vita and be back again for sure<br/>If we had made our decision on which restaurant to choose from previous reviews written here we would have gone somewhere else but we had heard from good word of mouth reports and decided to go with them and i am so glad we did.WELL DONE BELLA VITA

Went back after having not been for about 4 months, and it still seems to be the same owner, although it is a new menu. It was great to see that a chef ventured away from normal fayre and had a firm favourite of mine, sweetbreads.<br/><br/>Shocked by the previous review. Mains start at a very reasonable $20.<br/><br/>I had the abbachio - lamb racks. Served with a fresh rosemary, cherry and red wine gravy, very tasty <br/><br/>It was a busy night, but the wait staff all did their best to anticipate our needs and make themselves available.<br/><br/>Still the small, friendly, intimate experience I remember.

Was a terrible dining experience from start to finish. Had to get our own menus as our waiter failed to give us any. Then waited over 1 hour for our mains to arrive and when they did they didn't arrive all at once - a 10 minute delay and the meals were luke warm on cold plates. The lamb rack had to be sent back as it was well under cooked. The side dish of vegetables was forgotten and after reminding arrived towards the end of the meal. Not impressed especially as the prices would indicated a "fine dining restaurant experience".
