Review Venice Italian Restaurant - North Shore

Quaint little restaurant in Milford. Super friendly staff, food was ok. Dessert was a little odd, Tiramasu should be bitter with sweetness from the cream. This one was way to sweet and maybe needed a way bitter coffee instead. A pleasant evening had by us all šŸ˜€

We had a nice dinner & lovely time. staff was super friendly. Food was amazing value for the money & Freshly prepared. we ordered Fettuccine alfrefo & Fettucine al salmone it was creamy and delicious. Recommend anyone who likes to have a italian dinner try venice Italian Restaurant.

We really liked it because we could actually talk ! Great place to go if you want somewhere quiet to chat to your dining buddy, calming background music. We aren't interested in noisy busy cafes so suited us well. Delicious food too. Can't fault it.

You've to be prepared to wait, but is worth it! The food is great and the portions are generous. The staff has to stretch to keep up but they do it with the best mood and keep it very friendly and professional.

always delicious and big portions! my favorite place to have a pollo risotto

We had a family dinner at Venice recently and the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and attententive. Really nice peaceful atmosphere to share a meal. I had the lamb shank, which was cooked to perfection and served with delicious sauce and vegetables. Definitely would go again!

We came for a birthday dinner and loved the service. The wine is reasonable and the meals are as well. The rissotto and lasagna were delicious šŸ˜‹. Would recommend for all and out door dinning too. We'll be back.

Lovely family owned restaurant with warm hospitality. The best Italian food I have tasted so far. Tried Pollo di Stille Siciliano... A beautifully presented main with tender chicken and flavourful sauce. The chilli flakes complement the preparation really and give it an interesting kick. With a generous portion size, you will not ask for anything more... Really enjoyed the experience... Will surely come back...

The delicious food and warm hospitality from hosts has made Venice restaurant our family favorite. We ordered Pollo De stille Siciliano, pasta Alfredo, margarita pizza, stuffed mushrooms entree. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will surely visit again.

Great service, cozy place, delicious food.

We were in Rome 18 months ago. The gnocchi and pizza were almost on par. Delicious. The tiramisu was good but probably didn't need the chocolate drops on top nor the chocolate sauce all over the plate. Keep it pure šŸ˜Š

Got a pizza and a pasta dish. Too expensive for the quality of food - tasted like I made it myself. Bases and pasta were store bought. $27 for each dish... wonā€™t return for food

Would recommend not to complain
When we did the chef became verbally abusive
Accusing us of being out for free food, Iā€™ve never been so embarrassed and upset
The food was very nice, staff seemed stressed
The only concern was my pizza was cooked with the gel package attached to it, and we wanted to know if it was safe to eat!
Wow! The chef totally lost his cool. Very unprofessional
Will never return or recommend to anyone, just incase they need to complain.

When we arrived the Resteraunt was about 1/3 filled. We had our choice of seat and the young female waitress was very pleasant but looked stressed. We thought the Resteraunt was cute and were looking forward to the evening as it was my sonā€™s birthday.

We were told after 10 minutes waiting that there would be a wait time for our meal, we asked how long and were told 30 minutes. We looked at the menu again but decided against pizza bread as were ordering pizza and pasta so didnā€™t want to fill up before dinner with lots of bread, plus not a good range of starters for vegetarians. We were enjoying each otherā€™s company so made good use of the time catching up.

Our food however came an hour later. There was a smell of burning in the kitchen. The pizza arrived with black singing on the top and base so burnt in parts it had charcoal on it, the pasta was hard in the middle still and 3 small pieces of chicken in the pasta Alfredo. We tried to eat around what was edible, we were hungry, trying to make the best of a birthday experience, it was too late to go elsewhere, it would take another elongated time to get a replacement and I had a glass of wine so didnā€™t want to drive with drinking and no food.

We called another waitress over, as the earlier one was no longer there, as the burnt taste in my mouth was the only flavour I was getting from the pizza and my son was finding his dinner hard to eat, and gave feedback about the meal. Later this appeared to be the cooks wife. She says sheā€™d tell the cook and it was because there were 5 orders to fill when we arrived and did not offer any solution to us to acknowledge the problem and obvious burnt and undercooked food we showed her.

The cook then came to our table and yelled at us in front of all the Resteraunt customers for about 15 minutes, says we were typical kiwis that knew nothing about food, were obviously people who both went around to every Resteraunt in Auckland to eat food, complain, and not pay as well as being people who obviously never went to Resteraunts as hadnā€™t booked, didnā€™t know how to connect with each other if we just wanted to eat without a wait time, and were noticed by him when we came in and not recognised; so therefore were suspicious, that heā€™d done research and knew people like us were out there and was going to call the police and trespass is. At no point had we says we were not intending to pay. It was shocking and a very extreme intense aggressive reaction.

The sad thing was we were intending to order more - desert and food and to have a good night there, it completely ruined my sonā€™s birthday, the extended yelling and screaming, threatening, racial put downs about NZ and false accusations were distressing and took time to recover from afterwards despite standing up for ourselves at the time. He repeated this performance prior to our leaving again yelling and talking over top of our attempt to tell him the factual reality of our experience. In some ways it was so extreme it was like an entertainer performing and you could only laugh, if it wasnā€™t so disturbing. The cook acted as a delusional, out of control irrational man with an anger management problem from a fragile ego unable to receive feedback to improve his business, saying several times he didnā€™t care what customers thought. So I doubt negative reviews will change anything.

I would recommend the cook gets anger management help, customer relations training, education about racism, as well as reviews his staffing and business systems and need to be able to provide food within a reasonable time with a full Resteraunt, let along a virtually empty one, to learn how to use feedback to improve his business and to value his customers, particularly new ones who can help his business to grow and are an unexpected financial bonus as walk ins when the Resteraunt has empty tables. He says he was the manager ... not much hope for this business if thatā€™s the case. I hope he and the business get help from the owner to turn this around, as the Resteraunt is in a good location, has authentic charm and potential.

Disappointing, distressing ... a bad memory on a happy occasion ... would never return.

Went with a small group of friends who really enjoyed the food. But as the only vegetarian in the group I was quite disappointed. The flavours just were not there. But the staff were quite friendly and the place is really cute.

Amazing place, great food and wine , lovely staff, even gave me a blanket when sitting outside, cool atmosphere, will definitely be back! They do takeaway too!

Came back again and had the Italiana pizza it was delicious but the mince had big chunks of bone in it. It was un eatable and my partner hurt his tooth from biting in to the pizza. Was a big turn off.

Great food - My wife and I have been coming to Venice Italian restaurant Milford fr the past 5 years and enjoy the experience every time. Very good food.

When it comes to Italian food what first comes to mind is pizza and pasta, but itā€™s not all about that as this cuisine offers more than that in fact there are many dishes to choose from and that is what we are having today in this restaurant, Venice Italian Restaurant. Conveniently located in Kitchener Road beside most of the establishments in the area, if you are looking for some Italian in Milford area then this is your best bet.

Venice in Milford is so damn good I go here almost every weekend with my family and it never fails to disappoint. Every time we've gone here it's been a lovely experience with friendly staff and delicious food. Pretty much every time we go I get something different and it's always full of flavour and it's just too damn amazing. The only thing that's a let down with the place is that it's very small and old, i think if the maybe changed up the restaurant by making it more modern it'd look more appealing. But for sure go here the food is absolutely amazing 10/10 for food and service x

We went last night for a light dinner. We chose just to have the antipasti platter and hot chips. I'm sorry to say it was really disappointing. The chips were broken crumbs from the bottom of the bag. We noticed everyone else getting much nicer looking chips from a new bag. The platter was half empty compared to last time with 3 peices of salami, 3 small pieces of prosciutto and some dry bread and undressed salad. There was a tiny bit of soft cheese. The only nice thing in the whole meal was the olives. Next time we will go elsewhere

Went to this restaurant a few weeks ago for my Dad's birthday and it was fantastic - beautiful food and great service. Thanks for helping us have a great night!

The food was incredible tasty - (best italian food I have ever had) and the staff is really polite. I also love the atmosphere and decoration.
10/10 would recommand!!!

A bit too crowded and tables are so close that you canā€™t help not being a part of all other peopleā€™s conversations.
And this was the first time in my life that I wasnā€™t able to eat spaghetti marinara because they were way too hot. It felt like a Mexican dish, not the Italian one.

Had been to Venice quite a few times in the past and found it fairly inconsistent with respect to food, but tonight we thought we'd give them another go and weren't disappointed. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating, the lasgana was the same large portion but much more flavourful than on our last visit and pizza was great and cooked to perfection. Tiramisu was good but needed a little liqueur to give it a boost. Complementary limoncello was a very nice touch. Will be going back soon.

Update : had this beginning of the year and the chicken in my fettuccine was off that I couldnā€™t eat it ! Unfortunately it was a take away order so I couldnā€™t exactly take it back.. since this encounter I havent been back and chances are I wonā€™t coming back due to this.... The first time I had Venice over a year ago was amazing! Best Alfredo fettuccine Iā€™ve had so I kept going back, but now we have noticed the pasta is better/ yummier if you dine in rather than takeaway now

Absolutely amazing. Top notch every time :) me and my girlfriend continue to go here this is our number 1 Italian restaurant - and we love Italian !!

Venice is officially my favourite restaurant! The interior design is beautiful and makes it a great place for romantic dates. Each time I've been there, the service has been amazing and the food just divine- I was never a fan of Italian food before because it was just carbs and cheese, but Venice has changed that. Water is poured often, the dishes are fresh and vibrant, and the pasta handmade on site. Portions are also very generous- we usually get one pasta, a meat, and a side dish for two people and that is more than enough for two and I love that is run by people who know what they are doing.
Jean Paul
I ordered the fettuccine with salmon, when I complained that the dish was flavorless and that the salmon was off, the owner came out to address. He was extremely combative and told me to leave the restaurant without a refund. All round terrible experience,
Foodie Chronicles
The food was amazing and made with high quality ingredients, even though the prices were still reasonable.Ā The service was fast and really friendly.Ā Ā Not a big fan of how close the tables are to each other, but being a small dinky restaurant gives it that Italian feel. Also found the toilet placement a bit strange.Ā Ā Nonetheless I would definitely recommend!!
Mark Aspinall
Waiting staff had no idea what was in the menu, or what the ingredients were. I specifically asked if the dish was tomato based, the staff member said it was tomato based, but when I got the dish it wasn't. I questioned the staff member and got an embarrassing shrug of the shoulders. If staff are trained in how to deal with a customer query, they can respond correctly. This review is more about training staff, or lack of training in this instance.

Food is delicious, great service very lovely people! Been coming for 7 years very busy restaraunt but they always try to fit me in! Favourite place to dine! And the desserts are the best part always followed by a devine lemonchello!!!!! 5 star cant get better.

Really interesting decor and attentive staff. Food is reasonably priced and of great quality, though once we had the frangelico chicken and the chicken was a tad overcooked, aside from that it has been very good.

This was the second time I have been at Venice. Both times were cut short because of the noise in the place. Both times with different groups of people we were thankful when our mains were completed and we could leave. Would never go back Venice because of the noise but food was good.

These guys have got serious communication problems. Just received pizzas with anchovies despite asking twice for no anchovies... and the worst part is this happened the last time we ordered from here as well!Ā

Plus I waited 25 minutes longer than when they said they would be ready and wasn't offered any form of compensation for the stuff up and massive delay.Ā

Won't be back. Food is average at best anyway.

I went to Venice in Milford in June last year, and Iā€™m really in two minds as to whether or not to recommend it. Long story short: the food we had was amazing, but the service we witnessed that night was not.

Letā€™s start with the good stuff.

Iā€™d recommend their fettuccine alfredo in particular. It didn't look very creamy at first ā€“ but after a few bites, I realised I was wrong. I donā€™t like my pasta swimming in sauce, so it was perfect for me! The flavours were there even after heating up the leftovers the next morning, which is a testament to how tasty it was.

We also tried their seafood marinara (which is more like seafood linguine?), and it was delicious! The chillies gave the dish a pleasant kick of spice and there was a fairly generous amount of seafood. The presentation was impressive, and I like how they de-shelled the prawns so it was easy to eat.

Our side of seasonal vegetables (carrots, broccoli, capsicum, zucchini) was roasted with a bit too much oil, but overall it was fine.

Now onto the bad.

Service was slow and inattentive because there were only two wait-staff working (one of whom was new). I wasnā€™t too bothered at first, but the little things did eventually get on my nerves when we were waiting for ages on empty stomachs.

Their service was so slow, in fact, that one table complained about having waited 40mins for their mains ā€“ and it erupted into the most tense situation Iā€™ve ever seen at a restaurant. The customers got offended, the manager/waiter wouldn't apologise, voices (and a butter knife, literally) were raised, and a wine glass was accidentally smashed. In the end, the party of 4 left without paying and the rest of us tried to finish eating in awkward silence.

So if that story hasnā€™t put you off visiting, here are some tips to keep in mind.

Iā€™d recommend booking, as we noticed people waiting in the doorway being told to wait 20mins for a table. Seems like Venice is kept busy by a string of takeaway orders from locals. That might be the best strategy; avoid their service by dropping by with a small order early on in the night.

If I do decide to go to Venice again, Iā€™d keep an eye out for their chalkboard specials or try their freshly-made Tortellini alla Venice (which I missed out on because it was so popular that it sold out). No risk, no reward ā€“ right?

Friendly service and authentic, great-tasting pizza (in particular, I would definitely recommend their brilliant vegetarian one). Great interior fit-out and ambiance, which we couldn't enjoy as we had take-out! Nonetheless, I would certainly speak favourably of this restaurant.

I have been there with a group of friends and we had a good time. The atmosphere is very nice and you get the italian feeling. We had pasta and pizza which were both very good.
I would recommend to try it out because you can enjoy a good meal in a cute and cosy place with friendly staff.

My local! Use to go here at a minimum once per week. Always super friendly staff and nice decor. The meals are very large so make sure your extremely hungry.

Welcoming Restaurant to arrive at for dinner.Ā Staff are friendly and accommodating.Ā Good menu with a wide selection of prices to suit a variety of budgets...pastas, pizzas through to more lavish seafood and steaks.Ā Deserts are great if you have enough room after a entree and main.Ā Serving sizes are good with fresh ingredients.Ā The atmosphere is warm, and you feel as if you have been transported to Italy.Ā We look forward to our visits to Venice because of the great hospitality & consistently good food that you just can not put a price on.

Fabulous little Italian place.... Food excellent .... Reasonable prices.... Great service. The chicken livers were outstanding!! Well worth a visit.

I went there for lunch with a friend yesterday and absolutely loved it. This place has just opened up for lunches and has a deal of $10 pizza and pasta for this time of the day. They do make up for this a little with the dessert prices however they are very much worth paying for. We shared a chicken pizza and a Margherita pizza which were delicious then finished with dessert - unfortunately zomato doesn't show the lunch menus but for an inexpensive lunch with delicious food this is the place to go

This is a lovely little restaurant in Milford, they have a nice selection in their food menu, I have been here a number of times. The food is tasty and good portion size. As it is a small family business I have noticed there are only one (mostly one) sometimes two waiter/waitress, which makes service a little slow. However I have enjoyed their food on both occasions and would go there again.

Nice little cute place border of Milford/takapuna. Arrived 7pm on a Friday night without any booking fortunate enough to get a table. We ordered pizza, one pasta, veal main, and three glass of wine for $75 (no photo as the lighting was not too good). Ambiance was good very cosy and small and tables are fairly close to each other but that didn't bother us. Food flavours were lovely very authentic Italian flavours and pizza is spot on! My only down side was plating (very old school style) and service. waiters were great but we waited a long time (30mins) for 1 pizza to arrive however mains came fairly quick after. Will be back again as its a nice little wee restaurant and food is not too bad either. Also it's BYO and corkage is $6 which is super great!

Great little restaurant.Ā Fantastic menu, service is exceptional and the food is delicious.Ā I have been a few times now and had a lovely meal each time.Ā I get the impression that consistently good is the MO here.

The service here is second to known. It's hard to find a place where the staff are genuinely friendly and love their work.
Took miss teen here who happily ordered the reasonably priced garlic bread with pesto. The base was crispy and moist. I like the way it's cut into bite sized pieces with the pesto easily spread.
Great selection of pastas available but I opted for the chicken salad. The salad would definitely benefit from some form of dressing rather than just the olive oil. Daughter loved her pizza. I felted cheated as there was no way I could fit in the Tirumasu. The waiter even assured us he made it himself. Next time!!

Came here with a couple of friends for dinner the other night.Ā The veal, mushroom and marsala sauce dish was so yummy.Ā Good sized helpings and good service.Ā BYO makes it a very attractive and also good value restaurant.Ā The helping was so filling, could only manage the main course!!

One of the best pastas we have tried in Auckland. Great quality, not your typical gilmours ingredients, good service too. If you are in milford - pay them a visit, you will not be disappointed
Angela (A Style Collector)
Came here with a big group of people for a friends birthday and they chose this place. This restaurant is small but cute. The staff were nice and friendly.

we got bread for starters and they really nice. For main, I ordered the pollo frangelico which sounded great but it really disappointed me. The roast veggies were the best part of my meal but the chicken was average. I didn't like my meal and I expected more flavour. I wish I got a pizza instead.

The menu is extensive here so I think it will be best to stick with pasta or pizza for a more traditional Italian food.

Good food // nice decor

We came here on a Friday night and it was packed! 1. Booking is definitely recommended. We did get a seat immediately however.

It took the staff a while to get our food and drinks order, not sure if it was because they were busy and short staffed or some other reason, but 2. Not recommended if you are in a hurry.

We got the cannelloni and the fettuccini Alfredo, the cannelloni was alright, we preferred the fettuccini. I would recommend this place, mainly for the food, not so much the service.
Kimmartinengo@hotmail. Com
Rest home style Italian. All the menu bases covered but tasteless execution. This food should make you want to lick your plate, not play bingo and have an early night.
Warren
Have eaten there 3 times in the past 6 weeks, would happily recommend them. I only ever have the pizza and they are AWESOME!!! Great taste, perfect size and a price that's easy on the pocket.
Rebecca Kennedy
When we arrived we were seated quickly as we had a booking. Ā We waited 25mins before being offered water or to take our drink order. Ā There was only one waitress working this particular night (Easter Monday), and the place was full. Ā She looked incredibly flustered the whole time we were there. Ā When we finally ordered our drinks it took a further 15 mins for them to get to the table. Ā The food was tasty and at a decent price. Ā We would go again for the good food and price, but we would never take our kids as the wait is far too long for them to handle.
A good night. 3/5 rating.

Had a family dinner here the other night, service and food were impeccable. I have tried a few dishes from Venice now and have yet to be dissapointed. Great wines too, their Te Mania sav is great with pasta dishes. Highly recommended for a quiet or family meal. Food came quickly and as always the basil pesto garlic bread is a must!
Helen
I dined here last night and was truly impressed with the food.My steak was delicious. My husband is vegetarian and he reckon that was the best vegetarian pizza he ever had.The waitstaff were lovely and talkative. One man in particular ( i think he was owner) was especially nice and happy to answer any questions.
Great dinning experience we will be going back there for sure.

Me and my wife decided to have an italian meal after a long day and of course Venice was our first choise and we was nicely accomodated i had to mention we are regulars in Venice since they opened their doors.Me and my wife had their famous home made fresh pasta Fettucine ala Alfredo delicious creamy pasta, followed by their home made tiramissu and the famous Venice cake what a lovely dessert,I had to be honest we never ever been having a bad meal in Venice ,or even a bad service you are always warmely welcomed there,we are visiting Venice again this weekend with friends.Well done Venice owners you are doing an amazing job without you Milford wouldn't be the same.

Grazzie V.J

I have been to Venice Restaurant so many times and have always had friendly staff who made it a pleasant evening. Although I hadn't been to Venice since last year, it is clear that things have changed. I was once a regular and now I don't think I will be back. The staff aren't the same bubbly young girls, which really made a difference! Instead we were greeted by an uncomfortable little man. He was nice in someways but very pushy, it wasn't nice service and clearly he was forcing a smile and just wanting our money. He said he is the owner!! If that were me I would not be acting the way he was with my customers or he will lose them! Like he has lost us. Also very unusual for an owner to be the waiter....not sure to believe him...but overall I don't even remember the food as my mind goes to the terrible service! So this proves that service does matter. Venice please bring you standard of staff back up!
Alex
The meal I had was nice (calzone) but the reason I will not return is the service. It took most of the main meals over 45 minutes to arrive, 15 minutes later the two remaining meals were still missing, so a reminder was given. Another fifteen minutes later two meals arrive, one being the correct meal. An apology was given and I was advised my correct meal would be 'two' minutes, yeah right, ten minutes later my meal arrived, so I sat at a table eating my meal while the entire table waited for me. They then had the audacity to offer no form of apology for this with a reduction in the bill or free drink etc for the inconvenience. When I told one of the staff it was poor service he simply said in a condescending tone 'so you want to eat for free'. Actually any form of genuine apology would have sufficed, but I took the cash that was rudely thrust at me.. Mistakes happen but there is no excuse for poor customer service. I nor my companions will be back.

This is a lovely restaurant with an excellent meals and service too. Love their small outdoor area covered with flowers and curtains really great place to be for any occasion. They can offer takeaway meals and takeaway coffee too. Great place my favourite restaurant on the North Shore.

Having been a regular at Largo Verde, I thought this would be a good place to have a business meeting over dinner. It was terrible from start to finish. On walking through the door, the young girl inquired if we were on a romantic date(??!!). Appalling- particularly as we were both men. (I can see the funny side of it now, but certainly not at the time!) We were sat at a table without cutlery and asked for our wine order immediately without having been shown a wine list. We had to ask for water and cutlery, which was not even set out for us, but dropped into the middle of the table with a bang! This silly girl was more interested in the ongoing joke between all the staff in the open kitchen than her taking care of the tables, and was clearly in a rush to get back to the fun each time. After a mediocre meal drowned in sauce she brought the bill to the table. It had not even been totalled. I asked her to bring it back added up, at which she openly rolled her eyes. Unbelievable. I eat out frequently with local business owners and will never set foot in there again, and have shared this story with many colleagues. It was clear the owner was not present. You need to sack your staff and start out fresh with a decent manager on board, or you will be out of business real fast. Worst dining experience of my life.
Vanessa Hunt
We ate here a week ago I have been here several times as my father in laws favourite Italian and he pays. My husband had steak and the rest of the family had pasta which were nice. Problem is I write this review and I had about the worst risotto I have encountered ever. I would best describe it as coming out of a packet and added water a few pieces of chopped chicken and small amount of sundries tomato added as an after thought. It had about as much creaminess as fried rice. I picked at it to be polite but did tell the waitress it was awful. I'm sure I will be back but will stick to the pizza.
Katherine
I took a risk with Venice Restaurant for my partner's birthday (after reading other people's reviews) and was not disappointed at all. The starter (mussels) were excellent and the mains cooked beautifully and very fulling (I needed a doggy bag). The service was prompt and the atmosphere was friendly, with free parking and BYO we couldn't have asked for more. Many thanks! We have been back since and will return soon, it's a real treat.
Gordon
Great family dinner for fathers day,one of my favorite restaurants on the shore, always great meals ,service nice and friendly, always busy and a great atmosphere.
Me and my family always dinning here regulars now, will recommend to everyone for small or large group.
Will book again for my wife's birthday party.
You will see us again little Venice.
Best regards Gordon.

We went to Venice one Sunday night, had great meal and would recommend it to anyone. Only criticism was there was not a lot of of calamari for the entree
Pam
We took friends to Venice last night it was up to its usual high standard - we dine there often - I would recommend it to anyone - good food, reasonable price and BYO delish
Trevor Electrician
Went to "Venice" 20/04/13 - it was great, as it always has been - regularly. We also recommend to friends & family, never had any adverse comments.
We always look forward to our nights out at Venice and are yet to be disappointed. It is a lively atmosphere, with a wide range of ages, the staff are friendly and hospitable without being overly attentive. There is a good variety of food and it is always enjoyable to try something different each time. By 7 pm it is tricky to get a table, so would recommend you book. We have found it great value for exceptional food.
Brian G
Have been 4 or 5 times over the last 2 years; Initially Venice was quite good with reasonable service, but has deteriorated to well below average. A 'forgotten' main course order, the same bland tomato sauce is used for cannelloni, lasagna and anything requiring a tomato based sauce and it tastes like its from a jar..they need to do better. They now seem to be catering for elderly Milford folks who have lost their taste buds
Pizzas have also gone from good to bad..very soggy bases.
Sandra Batley
My partner and I wanted an Italian meal and found Venice Italian Restaurant and decided to give it ago. We found the food to be very tasty and generous in portion size - so much so we could not fit in a dessert. The risotto and chicken parmigiana dishes were rather delicious. The young women who waited on our table were friendly, the meals were prompt and the entire dining experience was very nice. Would recommend to anyone after a casual, nice meal out.
Kerry Johnstone
With two family members from the UK, my wife and I, who have been to Venice several times, greatly enjoyed our meals. My veal with a superb avocado sauce was beautifully cooked and delicious. I tasted the chicken dish ordered by my wife and it was also tender and full of flavour. S and P who have dined in many restaurants around Europe and the USA also lauded the meals they had chosen.
The service from both waiting staff was carried out efficiently and in a very pleasant manner.
Forget the negative reviews of two or more years ago and give it a go.
And if any restaurant is noisy, it generally means people are enjoying themselves. If you do want a quieter dining experience, book for right on opening time.
We will definitely be back from time to time - by ourselves and with friends.
June/Peter Heeny
WOW! just happened to look up phone number only to see so many negative comments, we have been there with so many of our friends at different times and have always, always found it to be really nice, the service is exceptional, the staff helpful and the menu variable - they have a special running at present and the choice is great - I am ready to book for 20 people (or more) at this very moment, and if we hadn't have had great food and service we certainly wouldn't re-book, only one complaint with it being a small restaurant it does get a bit noisy but eh for great food at great prices you can deal with that.

I have been to Venice twice now, with different couples and going again twice this coming weekend, I have found the service good, the food is excellent, they have a great special on, very good value for money, I cannot understand the previous negative comments and the only slightly negative comment I have is that with the special on, the place is always full and consequently quite noisy, but I have found this in other restaurants when they are full, the food overides any noise

We went to Venice the other night with a party of 9 and had a really great meal...good food, attentive service and all very reasonable too. a few of us had the calamari which was very tasty followed by the eye fillet steak. Couldn't fault it. And those in our group who had pasta dishes were equally happy...can't really understand some of the previous negative comments. Maybe changed owners or a new chef. Whatever. We will be going back.

Was our 3rd dining experience here, my partner arranged a surprise birthday party for 11 people. The staff were very very friendly and patient. The food was great. One of the mains was not to standard and once advised the staff promptly gave him a complimentary glass of the wine he had been previously drinking and shortly there after a brand new meal was presented to the liking of our friend. Would highly recommend for any occasion.

Organised a mid-week meal for 18 people from work. I found the food to be well prepared and delivered promptly. There was a great offer on, which we were all able to take advantage of. Would definitely recommend it to others

Last night the food was so incredibly average and basic. The tomato/capsicum sauce has no flavour at all and the same sauce is used for everything including the soup!! Have been before and will not go back. What a huge disappointment! The staff are surly including the owner!!

I would give this restaurant a 1 out of 10, the meals are always late-- never cooked right and the service is always forced. Not to mention the walk to the bathroom-- the kitchen always looks messy and unhygienic. After complaining about my meal-- I heard very loud banging and voices raised, the chef clearly cannot take constructive criticism. Which is shocking because he clearly needs to re look at his menu and learn how to cook the food.

My experience was very disappointing and I hope people can read this and think twice before going to this poor excuse for an Italian restaurant.

Well after reading the previous reviews I was a bit apprehensive about dining here...but I had nothing to worry about and I can't wait to go back. The food, service and atmosphere were all great!!!

When for dinner with my partner.

Ordered Basil bread for starter, with a house Shiraz;

Bread was nicely cooked, basil pesto was excellent.

She ordered a chicken almond main, I ordered a house special which was venison. She didnt finish so I ended up trying both.

It was, good, not great, just good. Cook is clearly not trained, (I know since I am), the house vegetables were well, .. pretty average broccilli and carrots with two potatoes (which was half of one whole), meal was drowned in sauce, both of them.

My main was $33, hers was $23. totally bill including drinks $94.

I've give this place 4.5/10, nice atmosphere, average food, polite staff, generally a good place to eat for a local strip mall restaurant, but .. for the money it cost I think I probably wouldnt recommend it too anyone,

Look at it like this: if you want you meal drowned in sauce go here, if you want average food no better than what you can cook at home at a top price, go here.

Otherwise, find somewhere else, Dennys would be a better choice (only just worse than).

When this was Largo Verde it was always full (any nigth of the week) and hard to get a booking. We visited a few weeks ago and there were only 10 people in the restaurant.
My veal masala was over sweet and the vegetables were over-cooked.
Since it has changed hands it has lost it's Italian authenticity.
It is quite obvious when dining that it is no longer run by Italian's and I am pretty sure that there is no longer a chef in the kitchen but an untrained cook.
A contender for an episode of the "Kitchen Job'.
As a previous satisfied customer it is sad to say we will not be returning.

I took the family to Venice last week . We ordered Calamari as an entree. It arrived and was as tough as old boots and inedible. I asked the waitress to mention it to the chef. We were the only people in the restaurant at this stage. When it was mentioned you could hear the banging of pots and doors being slammed. We were told "that is how chef cooks it" .We left the plate uneaten . Our pizza arrived and the bases were uncooked. We were left with the feeling that this could have been deliberate as we had dared to complain earlier .We will not return
