Review Butlers Reef Oakura - Oakura

Came in for valentines with my wife and wow wow wow wow! Service was awesome. Food was AMAZING AND WORTH EVERY CENT!!! This is now my go to spot for my wife and I. We had the baked muscles and mushrooms for our starters, then the steak with the surf and turf, pan seemed gurnard and lamb shanks. I had a food comma for about 3 days. I'm definitely going back. Thanks Chris!

Stopped in for a quick dinner on our way through to New Plymouth. Fast and friendly service, and GREAT food. I liked the option of the half portion sized meals and they even had my favourite, prawn twisters. Well worth a stop - hospitality like it should be 💛

Great atmosphere and service plus beautifully presented food at reasonable pricing, nice warm environment even on a cold wet day Would have rated higher if the seafood chowder wasn't so damn salty though the chicken wrap was excellent and the fries were spot on.

Less than delightful bar staff, but good atmosphere all the same. A friendly smile goes a long way.

We had the $20.00 fish and chip's with a beautiful salad and complimentary glass of wine. Best value for money I've ever seen. The staff were friendly and efficient and a nice atmosphere..

I've had Eggs Benedict in many cafes and restaurants around NZ over many years and Butlers hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had. The staff were also friendly and welcoming and the place has a lovely atmosphere. I also appreciated that they do half portions as an older person I can't eat as much. However, the eggs Benedict were so good I wished I'd had the full portion. I will definitely go back for more.

Amazing service from both the lovely ladies on FOH today. Most impressed. Very professional, excellent communication in regards to wait times and availability of menu items. Kids enjoyed their food and so did we! Even pre-empted that we might need TA containers for the kids leftovers an came and asked if we would like? So impressed, haven't eaten out in Taranaki for a long time because of lack of faith in service at other joints. Ka Pai guys!

Had an amazing time. Got a seat right away and ordered the mussels for starter and ribs and it was so good. The fettuccine smelt excellent aswell.. which was a few tables down.

Will and the team at Butlers reef are awesome. Always great service, food and atmosphere. Hard to go past the steamed mussels and an Export 33. Highly recommend!

We attended a wedding here so it was different from just going to the Bar and Cafe. The wedding was in the big outdoor area of the bar. As a wedding venue it was picturesque with beautiful Mount Taranaki in the background. It was unfortunately very windy so the bride's veil flew off and bits and bobs falling from the huge tree kept landing on the guests. It didn't spoil a brilliant occassion. We had drinks and snacks straight after the wedding..The little sandwiches and spring rolls were delicious. The reception area was set out under a marquee. The buffet dinner was a ten out of ten with fried chicken, roast potatoes, kumara, salads, pork and beef that was melt in the mouth among other things. The freshly made apple pie served with icecream and chocolate cake was out of this world. There was a bar tab and a very helpful staff serving us. I would recommend this pub for small, intimate and informal weddings.

The staff here are fantastic we visited for my parents birthdays, we were allowed to bring a cake in, when they bought it out they started us off singing Happy Birthday, they spoke to our children as if they were paying customers and the kids appreciated being asked instead of asking us parents what they wanted. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant with a welcoming smile and every staff member we encountered gave us great customer service, nothing was a problem, they were patient when we were indecisive and everything came out promptly and the pricing was really reasonable. The photos online that customers have taken don't do the food justice everything we had was really yum. Our 9yr old said all the staff were always smiling and not like other places we have been, where they look angry and don't want to be there, we would definitely recommend this place to others 😊

This place is great. Really enjoyed it as an out of towner. Will come back. The pan fried fish is delicious!

Some nice options on the menu - creative but simple, tasty and good value.

Stopped and had a nice lunch. Nice surroundings very friendly staff. I had a Thai Beef salad plus a glass of tap Heinekin Light beer, both were one if the gest zi have tasted. Will be back.

Went to concert (My Baby) and had an amazing time!! Staff so lovely and added to the vibe. Brilliant location and atmosphere. Will definitely be back! No idea about food - too busy getting my boogie on!
