Review The Galley - Oamaru

Gorgeous building on the waterfront. Service was excellent and attentive, and the coffee and food was absolutely beautiful! I had the chicken waffles and it was HUGE and delicious. Would highly recommend stopping here for a feed if you're in the area.

I stumbled upon this cozy and charming cafe on Google, initially thinking it might be just another breakfast spot. However, when I opened the door, I was absolutely amazed by the view. There were plenty of window seats overlooking the sea, allowing you to watch the mesmerizing ebb and flow of the waves and the graceful seagulls in flight. I found it incredibly enjoyable to listen to the relaxing music they played while savoring the soothing sounds of the waves and gazing at the sea. The food portions were impressively generous, offering twice the amount you'd typically get at other cafes for the same price. The cappuccino was delightful, and the service was excellent. I truly relished my time there! I wholeheartedly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Oamaru.

Popular spot and I can see why ! Best Sausage roll I've had for a while. Stopped in for coffee and a bite and didn't regret it. Lovely views of the bay with window seats along the front. Open them up when the weather permits.

This is my local go to place for my breakfast! I absolutely love the friendly staff and upbeat atmosphere. The food is to die for and a full cooked breakfast always comes out really quick which I love. You can't beat the view from the windows as you are literally perched on the beach looking out to Oamaru harbour and all the gorgeous boats bobbing around in the sun sparkled water. It's just splendid. I highly recommend to all!

Excellent food and atmosphere, food didn't take to long. Dishes are huge and delicious. Hubby had the open steak sandwich, and I had the crispy chicken salad (was soooo good 10/10) milkshake was massive as well. Will be back to try the crispy chicken waffles yum yum.

My partner and I came here with a couple friends who wanted to visit the Victorian Precinct, and it was "unequivocally bussin" if you will. The food was great, service was friendly and fast even though it was pretty busy. Highly recommend it if you're around the area and looking for a good feed 👍 Thank you, very slay!

Visited here on advice from a local. Despite being super busy due to a town market day, the staff were efficient with orders at the till. Our coffees, date scone and chicken salad arrived in good time and were delicious.

Excellent eatery with habour views centrally located by Holmes Wharf, and the marine parade. Good selection of cabinet food, and breakfast/lunch menu items. Surcharge applies to credit card/paywave payments which is always disappointing to see in cafes, otherwise a great place to visit.

This is a really lovely cafe in a big metal building by the coast (you can't miss it). The food was absolutely amazing and the view was beautiful. Definitely recommend to anyone passing through.

Looking for a place to have breakfast today and came upon this lovely place, with a gorgeous view of the Harbour. The kai was absolutely delicious and the kāwhe wera. This place is definitely worth visiting, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Lovely food, great coffee, excellent staff and unbeatable views. We had a lovely relaxed breakfast here. Bacon and egg sandwich, veggie feast of mushrooms and spinach with poached eggs.

I don’t visit Oamaru often, but when I do, I’ll be sure to come here again! Beautiful ocean/harbour views, good coffee, exquisite food. Reasonably priced, too! A real gem.

Bad choice! Vegetarians/Vegans be aware this place does not cater for you..vege burger they might have but it's got eggs in it which I don't eat! the salad comes out with 2 dressings all over it probably egg based and the fritter had a blob of sour cream all over it..to bad if you don't eat dairy! and to top it off there was no chips which I asked for..I said to the lady I ordered chips so they took my plate away and brought back my plate minus the salad??? honestly its the worst place ever ..and i wont be back! and they wouldn't give me any money off I had to pay full price..but then what do I expect its just another greasy spoon really! which is favoured by many..but that's my opinion ..CRAP!

Over a 30min wait for a burger and chips :( No indication of this delay was given at time of ordering (1.30pm). Other people dining with me had finished their food and drinks 20min before I even received mine. Shit service to say the least.

Staff lovely, food looked Good, think they were swamped on day we went, food was ok but my pet hate is 'hard boiled' poached eggs... pre cooked and refreshed, no excuses, should be cooked fresh to order, very disappointing 😞

While in Oamiru yesterday my daughter & I had a morning coffee & returned later for a great lunch. The view towards the ocean is fabulous! Well done.

Great location but they got our order wrong. Milkshakes not very nice...too warm. Food was yum though.
