Review Osteria Ohakune - Ohakune

I had the pleasure of dining at Osteria Ohakune in New Zealand for dinner today, and it was a fantastic experience. Remember to make a reservation in advance, as the place can get quite busy. To start, we ordered the arancini, and they were surprisingly appetizing. The crispy exterior combined with the creamy and flavorful risotto filling was a delightful treat. For my main course, I opted for the gnocchi with peas and bacon. It was incredibly savory and flavorful, with the combination of tender gnocchi, sweet peas, and smoky bacon creating a wonderful taste sensation. My partner decided on the ribeye, and he couldn't stop raving about it. He said it was one of the best steaks he had ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with delicious flavors. Osteria Ohakune specializes in Italian cuisine, and they truly deliver on that front. Each dish showed great attention to detail and reminded us of the authentic flavors of Italy. The service was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend Osteria Ohakune for anyone who wants a simple yet delightful dining experience with outstanding Italian food.

cutest Italian restaurant ever. walked in at about 5:45pm on a sunday evening and was immediately assigned a table. the food was amazing and super quick to arrive at our table and the staff were lovely. an awesome place for a little date night:))

Had the salmon pasta which was good with side of veges. The side consisted of carrots and beans and one cauliflower floret. Was expecting a variety. And floating in butter and gone cold. Service was generally good but tried to get attention of waitress was not easy (ignored?). We sat in the 'outer' bit. Later Learnt of area in the inner part with better atmosphere.

My spaghetti with prawns was one of the best seafood pasta dishes I’ve eaten for a long time. Unlike so many servings this one was generous with plenty of prawns and pasta. My partner had the spaghetti bolognaise which was also delicious. I was unable to photograph the other bigger room because it would have been intrusive. But take my word for it the place was nearly full when we arrived for our 7.15pm booking on a Tuesday night! Despite this the service was efficient and friendly. With a bit of TLC on the interior and exterior this would be a five star review.

Food was delicious, pizzas were very good. The Saltimbocca was awesome and the Bolognese was tasty. Very good, solid food. Waitress needs a bit more experience, she was timid and not very attentive to what the table needed, eg. Filling water, checking on drinks, and seeing if the table needed anything. This could be improved.

It was really very good, the service was fast. The pizza toppings are generous. The only point to improve would be the quality of the pizza dough. But otherwise everything was good and the tiramisu was delicious!

Staff are very welcoming, we were seated quickly and well looked after by the wait staff. Food was excellent from the pastas to the pizza to the very good braised beef cheeks and on to the lamb shanks. Dessert options covered most tastes and were all very good. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely meal at Osteria last night, Sunday. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat two of us with no problem at 17:30. Food was fantastic. We shared the starter bread with garlic and cheese, a small portion but the bread was very light and flavorful. Next up: pork belly risotto and salmon penne, both absolutely delicious! Oh and don’t be fooled by the photo, there was actually a lot of fish hidden underneath the pasta. Be sure to ask for the chili oil if you like a bit of a kick, definitely elevated the dish in my opinion. Lastly we had tiramisu, coffee flavor was bold and rich. Perfect finish to a great night in Italia 💚🤍❤️ Service was good and restaurant very cozy. Only minor criticism, tell customers what you’re out of before they have time to read the menu and decide they want the two things you’re out of 🤣 We were very happy with what we ended up ordering but it was a bit annoying.

Excellent restaurant in Ohakune. Good wine list. Limited beer selection (but OK for a restaurant). Food is very good, and a good selection/range. Service is very good. Nice cozy friendly atmosphere. Family friendly. Will certainly be back for more.

Really nice spot for this little town to have. The food was good. My husband had the lasagna and I had the gnocchi. Mine was a bit too salty. But the garlic cheese bread helped it out and a glass of chianti. Would certainly recommend. I would likely try the mushroom risotto next time as I heard a server describing it and it sounded amazing!

Lovely restaurant, with with a real Italian vibe and Old Frank Sinatra playing in the back ground. My food tonight was delicious, and so were the cocktails. After a long drive down from Auckland this was just what I needed. Thanks for the great service I will definitely be recommending you guys. 😍

Starting with a great welcome, italian music of the old, great choice of easy pasta / pizza /mains all on a very affordable budget.

We didn't have a reservation BUT the lovely lady at the front opened up another part of the restaurant so we and other guests that also didn't make reservations could have a meal. Fabulous service BUT most importantly it was a delicious meal.

Fantastic restaurant. Was busy when we arrived, we had booked a table. The woman that served our table (had a Russian name)was brilliant and even helped our small granddaughters select their own dessert. The meals came out very quickly and the food was delicious. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and we will be back.

What a great start to our family Ski trip get away. A dining wonderful experience by The Osteria front of house and Chefs. A great 5 ⭐️ touch and taste of excellent Italian wine and food in Ohakune. We enjoyed a memorable service, what a friendly family atmosphere. Thank you to the lovely waitress with a friendly European accent. We left a $30 gratuity on our check out. We will be back soon. The food was delicious from start to finish 🤤 Staff were very attentive, polite & friendly Service was real fast. Starters - Garlic bread with cheese & herbs, light & fluffy, this alone was very tasty, the dips were ok. Mains - Pizza - Chicken Pollo, Chicken fettuccine & side of fries. Dessert - Home made Wild Berry Cheese cake The best $90 I’ve spent in a restaurant where everything was near perfect. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Second time eating at this Lovely restaurant, great service friendly staff and the food was tasty so much flavour and really big portions. First time we did takeaway and was impressed so decided to dine in and we weren't disappointed.
