Review The Chocolate Eclair Shop - Ohakune

A must try place. The eclair is legendary!! Also there is a small place to enjoy your desert and you can also have coffee served. ☕️ The people were so nice as well. Highly recommend.

They're famous for their chocolate eclairs, but the cream donut was even better!! A light icing sugar coated bite on the outside, soft on inside, fresh whipped cream and a raspberry jelly in the middle. Their homemade sausage rolls were really good too (demolished before we could get a pic). Good to pick up some local Ohakune veges here too on the weekend, famous carrots, parsnips and brussel sprouts.

Open again after renovations 22/11/23 V.interesting place. Setup like a corner store but with an extensive range of cakes, slices & esp home made eclairs. $4 buys you a huge eclair with very light chu pastry, brimming with whipped cream & an icing sugar top. Simply a hidden gem that one only finds whilst travelling. The proprietor was kindly & witty. Simply cant recommend enough.

Great place to stop by after a long day on the mountain. Lots of tasty treats including giant eclairs. It is also a nice place to stop by before heading up to grab some breakfast or lunch. Eclairs are huge and quite moreish. They are also a dairy and sell other items too like Duck Island Ice cream.

A little bakery that runs out of a convenience grocery shop. Stop by to try one of their famous chocolate eclairs. They are huge! The pastry is filled with lots of sweet cream with a chocolate topping.

I had the cookie and éclair at Johnny Nation’s Chocolate Eclair Shop and they were both amazing. The cookie was crispy and had a powerful flavor that wasn’t too sweet. The éclair was another hit. The crust was like puff pastry with cream and sugary topping. It was so good that I should have bought a few more to bring back to my hotel.

Simple but nice pastry for a reasonable price. Staff are not very enthusiastic and seemed reluctant to explain the goods on offer.

Such a cute little shop with a real homely feel. I had to get myself an eclair and wow I was shocked at the size of them, so big and for such a great price. It was light, puffy pasty with a beautiful cream filling and a sugar icing on top. I just wished as the name sake that it was real chocolate dipped or drizzled on top. Still yummy though!

Awesome coffee at surprisingly low prices, eclair was incredible. Barista was quick and friendly, and ordering is an introverts dream - direct input onto a screen, with customisation options and pics of the food.

Can't beat it after a morning up the hill. best place to get a bite to eat on the run. And yes the Chocolate Eclairs are nice if you like cream.

Definately worth a visit. Go with an empty stomach as they are very good value for $ and rather large. Lovely people working there too. And other yummy foods and bargain vegetables to be bought .

It's open again after the long drought over summer: my favourite source of 'bad' food (yummilicious raspberry buns, donuts, lamingtons and of course, the chocolate eclairs and good food (fresh carrots, sprouts, parsnips, etc at awesomely cheap prices). Walked out yesterday with only a small bag of goodies but won't be able to resist a lot of return visits over winter...
